Felix and Lane are struggling with just how boring a “normal” life is, so when they get a chance to jump into action, they do so without a second thought—especially since they’re offered a lot of money. The request is simple: find a way to retrieve a watch from police custody. But things are never as easy as they seem. Suddenly, they’re caught in the middle of a family feu ...more

I laughed all the way through this book. Felix and Lane have finally fully won me over.

I should explain before I continue on.
I love Leland and the Hitman books (funniest books ever written in my opinion). I just can’t get enough. I was less enamoured with Felix and the first Darkness book. It wasn’t what I expected and we just didn’t gel. I’m sure if I was to go back and do a re-read I would probably love it now. Only time will tell.
The second one won me over. It was funny (not laugh out lo
Review of books 2 and 3 since I read them back-to-back and they connect to each other.

This series was just a lot of fun. It's like those buddy movies where the situations are ridiculous and dangerous, and the characters are ridiculously lucky and almost impervious to what's thrown at them, so you need to suspend disbelief and just go with it.

We get to meet the families, the good (Lane's family) and the bad (Felix's family). Felix keeps snarking and petnapping and Lane is a badass who has no ch

Hilarious.., I gave absolutely loved this series and I’m bummed it’s over !!! I adored Felix & Lane and I’m keen to see Cal reunite with Grayson??? This was OTT which made it more hilarious but completely joyful. Fabulous fun ❤️

Felix and Lane are at it again!! I love serious yet unserious this book was. Yeah there are robberies, blackmailing, shootouts and chase scenes but with Felix behind them all you can help reading with a smile. You can see the bond growing between Felix and Lane and between Lane’s family as well. Excellent read!!

one more AWESOME book with Lane and Felix!!!
These two only gets better and better together! I laughed my eyes out! I was literally crying! I devoured this book, couldn't put it down from page one!
Alice has an awesome humor and this book is a page Turner. can't wait for Cal's book! I love him too ❤❤❤

The plot is OTT and a lot of times unbelievable, but did I care!? NO!😂 It's all about the witty banter between all the characters! I laughed pretty much every page. OMG! There were times I snorted, and my husband just kept staring at me, but I couldn't help it. It was well worth it, and I can't wait to read more.

I love this series. Felix & Lane crack me up to no end. I never laughed so much as I do in this series. I can't get over that both Lane & Tom are police officers and they are quick to break the law. The mystery kept me going back & forth who was responsible for what. When I was sure it was one person, something else happened & I was like, okay that person is now the one behind it all. We have the introduction of Cal, who I thought at first was just a drunk party boy. I can't wait to get more of ...more

This one was almost on par with book two but I didn’t laugh quite as much. Felix is like gay Don Rickles, insult comedian, far more annoying and childish than he is funny. The plot was kind of clever but the actions from Lane and Tom, supposedly police officers, reached ridiculous heights. And the same absurd shenanigans from Lane, Felix and assorted sidekicks went on for too long. I was losing interest at points. It’s one non-stop action scene after another and I’m sure many people will find it ...more

In book three of the In Darkness series, Felix is still…well, Felix. He’s inimitable. He’s snarky, goofy, a thief (reformed? not quite) and he’s head-over-heels in love with Lane. Lane is more sedate, though he does have a good sense of humor, especially when playing the straight man (so to speak) to Felix’s snarky sarcasm. Lane is blind and has been on leave from the police department since losing his sight. From the moment Felix fell into his life, nothing has been the same—or normal. The two ...more

A Joyfully Jay review.

If you read A Light in the Darkness, you may remember a watch that played a prominent role. And like me, you may have wondered what happened to it when the book was over. Well, that watch ends up kick starting a huge adventure for Felix and Lane in this story. Once again, Winters builds the pieces slowly and it seems like things are rolling along fine for the guys until suddenly they are in the midst of life and death craziness. The suspense end was exciting and i

“I’m an ex-undercover cop. I was pulled off when I lost my eyesight. There are no words to explain Felix.”

That quote perfectly describes this entire series and the couple. Alice is a hilarious author who's done an amazing job writing some great books. Deception in Darkness is the final book and was no different.

I loved everything, and this had the right amount of humor with the perfect HEA. Some of the things were really over the top but when you read the books you shouldn't be a

Alice Winters is officially my favorite mystery romance author. Any book that makes me choke with laughter deserves five stars. Plus, I didn’t think that would be possible because I listened to this book while going through a hard time, but it still managed to make me wheeze from laugher. For a while, I was worried that the (sometimes silly) jokes would grow trite and forced, but no, they just cemented my love for the characters. I need more of this, Winters. Please.

I laughed the whole way through this book. Felix and Lane are absolutely off-the-charts hilarious, and exactly my sense of humor.
I truly don't think I have laughed so hard for any other book. I was in tears not to mention stitches. Joel Leslie is phenomenal!!! I don't know how he was able to read some of the sections without laughing. ...more

How can you not love Felix and Lane? They both bring their own humor to a varied of situations. I loved the first two books in this series, and this one didn't disappointment. The moments when other people wonder what in the world you are reading that has you laughing so hard you snort! I absolutely adore these characters. And while the humor is coming to be expected in Alice Winters' writing, I do have to say the actual story line of trying to find out who did what keeps you engaged. I love all ...more

OMG! Lane and Felix are back with their hysterical banter! I can't possibly do justice to how awesome Alice Winters' Deception In Darkness is. It's just not possible.

The third book in her In Darkness series, I am in shock at how consistent these stories are, both in their craziness and their banter. It's a rare gift to write an action/danger story that is probably 90% humor. Actually, it's probably more like 95%. As in, 95% of the sentences will have you laughing. It is that funny.

While I really enjoyed the first two books in this series, I freaking loved this one! I listened to the audiobooks of those 2, but since I was anxious for more of Felix and Lane, and didn't know when the audio for this one was coming, I went ahead and grabbed the ebook and I'm so glad I did! I admit, I wasn't sure if the humor would be as funny just reading as compared to hearing Joel narrate, but only 3% in and I had already laughed out loud multiple times. I just adore Felix, he is so crazy an

I received this book by the author and this is my honest opinion.
I love reading these books and this is the third one following the escapades of lane and felix. These has to be one of my favourite couple, you've got lane a more staid influence and felix has something like a child like charm and naughtiness about him, there just so personable that you feel you'd be able to have a great day out with them, guarding your wallet or anything that might perk felixs sticky fingers though😀. Felix and Lane are a fabulous couple to read but check your realism at the door. This is Over The Top hijinks with absolutely ludicrous choices, actions, outcomes and plot twists.... BUT it comes with so much fun that it's a damn chaotic ride to take and love every second of. It has a ridiculous scooby doo mystery with engaging sidekicks and secondary characters that support and enable the folly in a way that keeps the reader rooting for everyone. Interspersed with the escapades are moments of h ...more
There was plenty of laughing and action in this installment. And done with Joel Leslie's narration, it is pretty close to perfect. Sometimes it's borderline ridiculous and over the top but still manages NOT to be too much. I don't know how when you're talking about stealing a watch from police custody, a little stripping, some leather daisy dukes, and the theft of ANOTHER animal. But it all works! ...more

This series gets better and more over the top with each book. I love it! Yes, Lane and Felix still have their wicked twisted humor. Talk about chaos and walking the line on being bad boys! OMG. They draw trouble to themselves like a magnet. And it all starts with trying to steal a watch from the police evidence room. Hah! Best part of the whole book was Felix in the leather daisy dukes, stripper scene. I laughed till I was crying. And I cannot believe Felix stole another animal!

The best thing about this Audiobook was Joel Leslie the narrator - 5 stars his narration was perfect
“Do we need to go over everything again?” Lane asks. “You’re going to go in, flash the person in charge of the evidence room. They’re going to be blinded by the size of your penis, I’m going to slip past them, snatch up the watch, and run. By that point, you’ll have tucked your massive penis and saggy balls back into your underwear and be ready to run with me.” “That was your plan. I’m talking about my plan, the one we actually settled on,” Lane says from where he’s sitting in the passenger seat ...more
When it's clear that Lane is being put off more and more because the force can't seem to grasp that Lane's immense skill doesn't care that he's blind, he's left at loose ends. He's missing something big from his life and has no idea how to get it back. Felix is similar in that he has literally zero experience with "normal" so when they get the text request for a little adventure and a whole lot of money, it's not a surprise that they both jump on it with both feet and no hesitation. Well, okay, ...more
