Sweet Water High #2

Crushing on My Brothers' Best Friend

Rate this book
Gorgeous, charming, and funny. Ky would be any girl's dream guy. Too bad he's my brothers' best friend.

I fly below the radar. It's kind of my thing. With twin superstar older brothers, it isn't hard to do. But when I'm epically dumped by my first boyfriend ever, it puts me right where I hate to be--in the limelight. And suddenly, everyone in Sweet Water is alerted to my love life, especially my nosy and overprotective brothers.

I did my best to manage the attention until I discover that Ky Andrews, the guy that I've crushed on since elementary school and my brothers' best friend, is also paying attention. He's recently broken up with his girlfriend and is actually talking to me...like a girl, not a bud. Just when I think this might be the happily-ever-after I've dreamed of, my brothers ruin it all. Suddenly, every boy in Sweet Water won't touch me with a ten-foot pole--including Ky.

But when I'm suddenly paired with Ky for a project in yearbook, it seems like he's struggling to keep his distance. Now confused, I have to decide if I'm willing to take the risk and fall for Ky or protect my heart and forever remain a wallflower.

1 town. 1 high school. 12 sweet romances.

Cute!

This is a very cute high school romance. There is nothing too deep or too serious here, just the sweet fun of first crushes and young love.

Okay

https://ladiikeiii.wordpress.com/2019...

Let’s see this book was cute... let’s see will there be any spoilers once I start writing.

So okay, like I said this book was actually cute. Then the last chapter the “Epilogue” I was like ugh hurry up already I was ready to finish for some reason. But anyways I thought the story was cute. I assume that she Emmy was going to be sneaking around with Ky and her brothers wouldn’t like them sneaking behind their backs, but the whole time in the book they were giving each other googly eyes and thinking that it was one-sided when it came to them liking each other. & them ending up ignoring one another; and or dating someone else. While her best friend Tori dated her brother Elijah for a while then became friends.

But in reality they both liked each other, Ky was using Janna, in my opinion, to make Emmy jealous though he was actually using her to hide his feelings for her from her twin brothers Emmett and Elijah ... when Emmett knew that Ky liked her since eighth grade. But when the football players were checking out Emmy, her brothers flip out so that push Ky back and to become distant and which made Emmy upset.

Then they went to their grandparents camping place or whatever Ky told Emmy how he felt, and she ran away then felt stupid by doing it and worrying herself to death about it. But FINALLY, in the end, Ky got the courage to ask Emmy to not only the homecoming dance but to be his girlfriend... guest what her brothers weren’t even mad why? Because they realize it wouldn’t ruin their friends as it didn’t ruin any friend with Tori and Emmy when Tori dated Emmy brother Elijah. UGH, all of that could’ve been avoided, and they could’ve started dating in like chapter 4 or 5... what a waste..... but at least the book was good though; give it that...

Crushing on My Brothers' Best Friend, Book 2 of the Sweet Water High series, by Julia Keanini is a charming read and a great follow up to book 1.

Emmy Banks’ best friend Tori returns home from England for her sophomore year at Sweet Water High just in time to save Emmy from another mundane year of high school. Following her breakup with Billy, a relationship gone bad, Em is anxious to get back to a somewhat normal life and knows Tori is just the one to help her do that. But, Tori is also the one constantly pointing her towards Ty, Emmy’s brothers’ best friend and Sweet Water’s HS football “hottie”. Unfortunately, once burnt twice shy Emmy is keeping her feelings for Ty under wraps. Trying to convince herself that he could never see her for anything but her brothers little sister she keeps her feelings to herself and refuses to let him into her heart. However, Ty is not going anywhere anytime soon forcing Emmy to confront her feelings for the boy and either open her heart or run from her future.

Like the first Sweet Water High novel this one had great characters and a delightful story line. I really liked Emmy and Tori. They are believable as best friends and the support they give each other is genuine. I liked Ty too and appreciated how protective he was of Emmy. However, Emmy’s twin brothers were overprotective and on several occasions were downright obnoxious. I cheered when she finally held her ground and stood up for what she wanted and lovingly put them in their place. And as always I love a happy ending.

Crushing on My Brothers' Best Friend by Julia Keanini is a sweet read that will help pass the time quickly and a great follow up to book 1 of the Sweet Water High series. A delightful story about best friends and a blossoming relationship that will please every romantic at heart.

lame ending, wish it was longer.

Umm. Wow, supper short only around 14 chapters.
Spoilers read at your own will.

Wish Tori and Elijah got together, this was a totally crappy set up and hated the ending for them mostly because there isn’t a sequel with them in it. Also the reason for the problems, such a lame excuse for them to cause the break up, but you could kinda see it coming if you have read enough of these books.
I suppose over all I had huge amounts of emotion through the book but once I wanted more it was the end so I was left even more confused and frustrated with the outcome. So I was kinda glad this was on KU or I don’t think I would have purchased the book. Anyways. Just wish it was even 20 chapters long instead of the 14. Could have done a whole lot more to it. Also very teenager thinking obviously but done quite well.

Cute, quick read

Teens would love this one with all the drama and emotion. It was cute and fluffy, but without a lot of depth. Finding out what happened with Billy felt anti climactic because it had been built up as a serious tragedy. I guess to teens it would have been. I had a hard time with the football/ homecoming scene. Her parents were in the stands and she's kissing him? I guess I'm old fashioned, but she seemed too young to be confidant doing that in front of her parents and everyone. Give her 5 or so years and I could see it. She just felt really young emotionally. Solid friendships and over protective older brothers. Clean with one minor swear word. So glad I'm not in high school anymore!

3.5 stars. The story was simple and sweet, and I liked it despite the overdone trope. But I had such a hard time with the writing style. In the middle of a conversation, there'd be a 4 page inner-dialogue or memory. I had forgotten what the conversation was about by the time the memory ended and then had to flip back several pages to refresh on the convo. This was a common occurrence in the book. Also, sentences frequently didn't make sense and/or didn't flow well. I had to re-read many lines and paragraphs to figure out what was being said. There were also some editing errors that added to the confusion of the reading.

But if you can get past the writing style, it's a nice and fast read.

Content: one time used "what the h***", sweet but meaningful kisses, one minor fight.

This book was all over thr place. They acted like 10 year olde not 15, 16 or 17. I didn't like Emmy, one moment she's upset with him and ignores him and the other he ignores her and she doesn't like that. WTH? She never made an effort to anything and said or thought 15 times a day that she had to move on. I mean we have to put ourselfes in the guy's perspective: the girl he likes ignores him and doesn't make an effort to be around you, her brothers are protective as hell and you can't risk your heart without knowing for sure what she feels, and when you finally tell her she runs. God, Ky was trying at least and hr deserve the same effort from her

Just no

The entire book, Emmy either ignored Ky or avoided him. She wouldn't even look at him. How is he supposed to like that??? And then he tells her he does have feeling for her, and she bails. It was just too much. They never really interacted with each other. Maybe a few pages total. It was So Much internal dialogue about her liking Ky and why she needed to stop but why she couldn't. There was just no substance to the characters. Lots of potential. But too much internal dialogue and self sabotage.

Well, that was cute!

I’ve been reading some more adult-y books lately, so I decided to take a break and read something from the YA genre. I was not disappointed! Emmy was spunky and knew what she wanted, but often let her fears guide her actions. I think a lot of us can relate to that. And Ky... I could see his intentions almost the whole time, and he was a sweetheart. *sigh*

5 stars.

Too much

The book moved too fast and too obviously, the main character was just the most oblivious and dramatic person ever. It was just cringey honestly. If you’re going to follow in such an overdone trope, you need to be fresh. More meaningful dialogue, a better longer slow build and ultimately just more originality. If you’re looking for light and fluffy, you can probably do better.

High school drama

Emmy has had a crush on her brothers best friend for years but after her first boyfriend cheated on her, she has sworn off dating until she finishes high school. Will she change her mind.?read this book to find out.
This is a cute story, although it started slow, it gradually built up. I wish we got to see the guys perspective in the story. I'm left with questions about what Ky was thinking...

Em&Ky❤️ Very cute YA romance. Actually the title is pretty fitting for most of the book is about Em's struggles and insecurities, her crushing on Ky - her brothers' best friend, who she feels is way out of her league. But even though there is not much interaction between the two, I still felt satisfied with their relationship, since they have known each other like forever. I liked the vibe of the whole Banks family, their closeness and protectiveness of each other. And Ky and Tori were perfect additions to the close-knit group. So this was a warm and cute story, that I devoured pretty quickly.
Narrative: 1st person, following Em
Religion: none
Sensuality: pretty chaste, only few kisses

WONDERFUL (some possible spoilers in my review)

I loved how innocent this story was!! It was nice that the author remembers that a love story should be just that... About finding love. This story didn't have to have the characters going to far worth drinking and sex or even language... And it's STILL managed to give me SO MANY to butterflies.

6.5/10 this was a cute book. very clean and fluffy, but didn’t have that extra umph that i love in books. the one that gives you butterflies in your stomach. though i did dislike the fact that she made being short 40% of her personality. but this book did the job and got my a bit closer to my reading goal

I was almost afraid it was t my g rated book. But it is and the sweetest narratives re there. Being in a mutual crushed state of love most of their lives , her brothers best friend finally took a risk. Their mural love grew but not without set backs and hard work together. Also wise words from friends kept their live growing. I loved this book

Sweet Romance

Ky and Emmy are the typical best friend's little sister friends. But, her brothers are super protective and go a little too far. Luckily it just made it so that Ky and Emmy
could get together. One swear word, and some teenage kissing.

Super cute. Crushing on your brother's best friend. Loving someone who is essentially "off limits." Yet a brother who chances of anything with anyone. interesting and fun concept for this follow-up book in the series.

As far as cutesy romance goes, this was subpar. The entire book was her being obsessed with this boy but NEVER looking at him or talking to him. And then at the end they ended up together? I mean, what is that? I know all chick flicks are unrealistic, but this was taking it a little too far.
