*Originally published under pen name Amabel Daniels*

Despite the fact she's a woman in a man's world, Morgan Lane works hard at Goldsen Park. Wielding a chainsaw and felling trees, she tries to keep up with her bosses' constantly contradicting orders. Staying busy in the woods keeps her from thinking about Wade Newland, the one man she'd loved who left her without an explanation.

Yet the photojournalist can't stay away. Wade crashes back into her life—literally—when he carries her tumbling over a ravine to save her from a stranger bearing a weapon in her park. Connected again, albeit out of danger, they attempt to figure out why someone would be toting a gun in the dark.

As they sleuth their way through the tangles of bureaucracy and the many layers of deception within the Goldsen crew, they discover there is more to this incident than what meets the eye. The deeper they dig, they realize no one can be trusted, not even the law. Not only do they have to tiptoe around their still-burning feelings for each other, they need to come to a simple truce. Can they watch each other's backs and find the answers in the darkest part of the forest?

Morgan works in the woods, able to handle a chainsaw and unafraid of the sounds and shadows that most would find unsettling deep in the wilderness. She never expected to be literally carried off and into a ravine by the one man she never could forget! Why would Wade come crashing back into her life? Especially with so much drama?

Something is fishy in the park lands that Morgan works in and people are going missing, or being murdered. Wade and Morgan find themselves wondering who they can trust and who is behind the tangled web that they have been caught up in. Is it the park director? The overbearing jogger? What is the dark secret that the woods are hiding?
As they do a delicate dance of lovers reconnected, they must trust in each other as they dig for answers, answers that could get them killed.

DON’T GO BACK by Amabel Daniels is a romantic thriller set in the beauty of nature yet filled with the ugliness of humanity at its worst! I loved the idea of a woman able to hold her own in a world that is far too tough for many males, yet not so “tough” that she loses her femininity! Wade is that guy who loves to wander, yet the chemistry they shared was wonderful! The plot? Wow, what a twisted tale with tentacles that slither in some pretty unexpected directions!

Who doesn’t love a good mystery with some delightful romantic tension?

I received a complimentary ARC edition from Amabel Daniels!

Morgan works as an arborist in a smallish Michigan State Park. It's her dream job. Being outside with trees and her badass chainsaw all day long.

On the private side, she's not as happy. Her summer-fling-turned-more from last year left her without a word and she's been mad at him ever since.

Enter Wade. He's the just mentioned summer fling/love/idiot. And he's back. For good - if she'll have him.

But suddenly they're being chased by people with guns. In Morgan's beloved park!

What the heck is happening??? Who can we trust and what is what?????

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO MORGAN & WADE???
READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT! ☺

I really liked it!

The first page confused me a bit. I had to read it three times to understand what was what. And then I still didn't realllly get it. But it got better.
You're immediately right in that park with Morgan and Wade and it's all so exciting and mysterious and dangerous and woodsy.

We also have those adorable and sexy couple moments. But it's a bit more suspense than sexy romance. But I loved that.

Great Romantic Suspense!!! I really enjoyed reading it!

I'm not in love-love with the guy on the cover - my Wade was much prettier/hotter!

Confession time...I love this author's books. Granted, I'm a few behind, but everything I've read by this author, I've loved. So when I was offered a review copy of this book, I jumped at it. Without even reading the blurb (I'm a rebel that way 😉)...If you know me at all, you know I'm not a nature person. As in, I don't like it in person and consequently, it's not my favorite in my books 🙈

Ok, so with that confession out of the way, I'll admit that it took me a while to connect with Morgan. I loved that she was such a strong women and character. That was great. Lol, but I couldn't connect with her love of nature. That was just foreign to me. But it was all me.

I loved the way Wade came crashing back into her life. Lol, of all the ways that could have happened, that was probably the best. It was totally unexpected. Even though I had trouble connecting with Morgan at first, what kept me reading was the mystery Morgan and Wade found themselves in. And just as they found out one thing, more questions would come up. Who could they trust? Who did they see in the park that night?

As I read, I developed theory after theory. Some panned out (I called it on the bad guy!)...and some didn't (I was totally wrong as to what the bad guy was up to!) (and fyi, I'm using "bad guy" as a general term...no spoilers here! 😜)

I will admit, even though I didn't put it together until his name was mentioned, I loved seeing Wade's brother Grant from Resisting Redemption. Lol. As soon as I saw his name, I literally yelled at my kindle "I KNOW THAT NAME!".

I would definitely recommend this book if you love strong females and a great suspense, second chance romance.

An action-packed, suspenseful story filled surprising twists made this a quick read for me. Morgan (whom I must say is a badass arborist) working a chainsaw and battling the elements like a boss was amazing! Wade, well, I was a little miffed at him at first, but slowly warmed up to him after he did some explaining about himself. That's all you're getting from me. I'm not one to give spoilers. So, if you're into the plotlines of a book that don't go quite the way you expect and want some impressively written characters, I highly recommend reading this book.

Wow! Don’t Go Back is one thrilling ride with suspenseful twists and turns that had me on the edge of my seat. The plot is intriguing and I loved the mystery aspect of it. Wade and Morgan have a complicated relationship and when you combine that with the strange and dangerous things going on around them, it makes for a very interesting story.

I am highly impressed with Don’t Go Back, the characters are strong, the storyline is consistent and it’s a must read!!!

Morgan is no joke!!! Love this bada$$, dealing with all of the hassles of working in a position considered to be a man's job and doing it well. Throughout the story she proves that she is no wimp and that of course made her near and dear to my heart. I hate when the females turn into a petty mess when the action starts and she did not disappoint. This is a read filled with action and suspense and a bunch of characters who show their true self in the midst of a mess. This author did a great job of strategically placing twist that shifted the eye and kept you wondering just who all was involved. The battle of wills between Wade and Morgan was also fun to read as they came together to battle the clan of folks that were involved. Awesome read from a new to me author.

This book had me on the edge of my seat! Morgan, an arborists at a park who wields a chainsaw and Wade, her newly returned ex boyfriend/photojournalist, stumble into trouble at the park and don’t know who to trust. We have nasty coworkers, demanding bosses, corrupt police, action, suspense, steamy hot sexy scenes and another chance at love.

This is a well-written, well-researched book. Morgan Lane is an arborist working in a state park. She puts her head down and does her job well, licking her wounds after having her heart broken by Wade Newland, a freelance photojournalist with whom she'd spent the previous summer. Wade, while a free spirit, had told her she wasn't a fling and Morgan believed him... until she woke up one morning and found him gone without explanation.

Morgan's not interested in the politics of the park; she just wants to do her job. When she stumbles upon an injured woman early one evening, Wade comes crashing back into her life - literally. He saves her from being shot by two mystery men, and from there on in it becomes clear to Morgan and Wade that something underhanded is going on at the park... and they don't know who to trust, except each other.

This was a story full of twists and turns. I had figured some of it out, but didn't have the big picture. There was lots of things I liked - Morgan's job, for one. You very rarely see heroines in such a job, and I loved that it was different. However, this was touted as romantic suspense and I don't think I would categorise it as such, because the romance was a small part of the plot; halfway into the book, all they'd done was kiss (but they had had a few aborted attempts at sex). It felt more like a thriller with a romantic element. This also wasn't a book you could read while half asleep, because you had to pay attention to the plot or you'd miss something.

Having said that, it's clear the author knows a lot about the subject because the detail was very good. I liked both Morgan and Wade, and I'm glad their reunion didn't drag out for half the book. If you like mysteries, this one's for you.

This is the first book I have read by this author and I was given the ARC by Hidden Gems in exchange for this review. After reading the story I may go back and check out the other books in the series, as this book being the last in the series hinted about the others since they were based on the siblings of Wade who is one of the main characters here.
When the book opens, we meet Morgan who works in a large park in Michigan as an arborist, which means she spends her time trying to clean the forest with her chainsaw and other equipment alongside her partner Eddie. Initially the story was a little hard to get into, because I do not know anything about forest management, and I felt a little lost about what was going on.
That evening, Morgan sees a strange incident where she thinks a woman was hurt or shot in the forest, but as this is happening, she is thrown down a ravine by Wade, who is also her former boyfriend. There is a bit of action with them being hunted and then not knowing who to trust to tell them about what they saw. As the story continues, there are still a lot of questions about not only what is going on but who is behind it. Although there are good points with the action and mystery, yet most of the time I felt frustrated that I did not know who was good and who was part of this plot. Additionally, I felt it took quite a while to figure out what was going on in this forest park.

Interesting read with a lot of suspense.

This book is quick off the mark with the action and suspense. There is a mystery going on in the park and Morgan and Wade are thrown into the thick of things, literally, right from the first chapter. Lots of great scenic descriptions and just enough character development to keep things interesting. The author is very adept at giving away just enough details to keep the suspense tight and slow burning at the same time. Just when I managed to figure out part of the mystery, the author throws in another plot twist that I did not see coming. My only complaint is the editing problems. There are many times when a sentence is poorly written or grammatically incorrect and needs to be re-read in order to understand what is going on. With a suspense novel, this is a major detraction from the writing. It is particularly frustrating when the editor and proof reader are thanked in the Acknowledgements at the beginning of the book. On another note, it would have been nice to know what happened to Derek, an important supporting character who is present throughout the story. While everyone else is mentioned in the Epilogue, Derek is completely overlooked. Overall, a good read that could be better with some reviewing.

Don't go Back is the first book from Amabel Daniels that I have read and it won't be my last. Morgan Lane is a strong, badass woman doing what is mostly considered a mans job. She has her dream job as an arborist in a state park in Michigan. On the job side life is a dream except she works too hard. On the love side things aren't as lucky. Enter in Wade Newland, a photo journalist and Morgan's ex-boyfriend who disappeared without an explanation a year ago and comes crashing back into her life quite literally without warning. He tackles her down trying to save her from someone running through the park in the dark with a gun. From the beginning of this book you are thrown into the life of Morgan and her co-workers. The suspense keeps mounting along with twists and turns keeping you guessing what's really going on and who you can trust. Also will Morgan and Wade be able to work together to figure out whats happening? Will they be able to deal with their past to maybe have a future? Only way to find out is to read the book! You won't regret it.

Don't Go Back

Morgan is a woman working a mainly male job, as an arborist at a park in Michigan. Wade is her ex, who is a photo-journalist. He left without a word to her months ago, but comes back into her life with a big bang - literally tackling her and sending them both over a cliff because of dangerous things going on in her park. This story has suspense, mystery, chemistry, love, and great characters. I started it and did not want to put it down until I was finished. I really did not see many of the things coming, and the ending was definitely a big surprise to me. This is the first thing I have read from this author, but it will definitely not be the last. If you like suspense, mystery, and some love - then I would say you should pick this book up and give it a chance, and I don't believe that you will be disappointed.

OMG! Talk about living on edge. A whirlwind of activities and events that keep you flipping page after page. One rollercoaster ride with a plethora of emotions to sort through. One amazing storyline and strong plot bring this read roaring to life beautifully. The characters were realistic with personalities and depth that drew you in. Sparks fly as suspense and intrigue ensues in epic proportions. All the drama, action packed, heart pounding, nailbiting, hard hitting thriller that brings all the pieces together for one wild ride. The scenes were so vividly detailed and descriptive that it gives the illusion you were right there in the middle of ground zero with them. Remarkable job Amabel, thanks for sharing this little gem with us.

Suspense with a side of romance:
I enjoyed the mystery and intrigue within the unique setting of a state park. There were plenty of twists and turns and I was kept guessing until the very end. However the climax was a little convoluted and not everything added up. I found this book a bit slow and wordy at times but I wanted to keep reading to find out what would happen next.
Wade and Morgan have a history together, however he hurt her when he left and I was curious whether she would give him a second chance. This is a slow burn romance but with a satisfying resolution.

A new author to me. A good read. This storyline is about Morgan Is quite the strong woman doing what most consider a mans job. Morgan is an arborist in a state park in Michigan. She couldn’t even believe it when her ex shows up, Wade, a photo journalist who disappeared without an explanation a year ago and comes crashing back into her life quite literally without warning. Wade acts the hero when he tackles her down trying to save her from someone running through the park in the dark with a gun. This story is filled to the brim with suspense that getting bigger and bigger.

Awesome romantic mystery. The characters in this story are wonderful, and entertaining. The book has a lot of angst and intrigue. What I enjoyed was that Morgan had a few degrees in land management and nature but worked daily cutting trees down in the park. She worked hard right alongside the men. Wade is a photographer/reporter who studied nature as well. Their saga keeps you glued to the story to see who survives. I received a complementary copy of this book via Hidden Gems and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by this author.

It’s starts out slowly with the background of the characters, then goes on to detail out what they do and then gets much more intense and suspenseful. Will Morgan take Wade back after he hightailed out last summer because his feelings scared him? There are ‘who to trust’ issues with the Wade and Morgan when there are goings on in the park. People are turning up dead and who is the leader of the corruption. Interesting book.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book

Morgan and Wade were a couple until he left her with no explanation. They are reunited when Morgan witnesses something at the park she works at and he rescues her. They must find out who is after them but can they work together before they end up the next victims or will their past get in their way? The story starts out a bit slow but once it got going it took off and the suspense, drama, danger, romance and twists made it worth the read. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

This book takes you on some great twists and mystery. Morgan is working in Goldsend Park cutting felling trees. She loves her job but not how her boss keeps her so busy. We meet Wade as he is saving her by crashing into her and rolling down a hill. Wow. This book has so many twist and turns, you are not sure who is her friend. This was a great read that will keep you on the edge of your seat flipping page after page.

Wow , this story was not at all what I was expecting and I loved it.
Morgan got her heart broken by Wade and now he is there and saved her life, and they have to work together to figure out why someone is trying to kill her .
This book has it all , a love that has no limits of time, a killer, and action, and no one they can trust but each other.
I loved this so freaking much.

My favorite kind of heroine are the ones that are BA. Morgan is this heroine. Come on! A female lumberjack? Can't get anymore BA if you tried.

I'm so glad Amabel sent this book my way. It has so much suspense and mystery that it kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Add in the romance and that makes for a page-turning must read for me! Highly recommend!

Lots of twists and turns in this story. Morgan was an arborists who worked in a park. Wade was a photojournalist and had once been with Morgan. While the two try to figure out their relationship strange things are going on in the woods. Lots of great characters and tons of action with a satisfying HEA. This was a winner!

This is a new to me author and I received an ARC copy of this book. I had a hard time getting into this book, however, if you're more into a suspenseful thriller then you'll enjoy it more than I did. I did love the fact that Morgan was successful in what is considered to be a man's profession. Although this particular storyline wasn't my cup of tea, I would read more from this author.

A great story of a woman succeeding in a man’s world. Wade and Morgan have a complicated history. Everything comes to a head when these two are inadvertently involved in a mystery. I like the way that this story unfolded. While I could guess some of the players, some were a big surprise. Great story!!
