I had several ???!!!??? moments with this novel.

We are told about Angela's rape (23 years earlier) in the prologue and how she sends an email to the governor to warn him about the events that happened. I was expecting this to be a 'theme' running through the novel, but in Chapter 1 we meet Angela as she is starting her new life in Aspen Ridge. There is NO mention of the events of 23 years ago... and by the time I gave up reading at 52% it was almost as if that incident had no bearing on her life

Pretty much a typical but not soft porn romance

A pleasant story, one with a happy ending, & one that shows love often comes not in youth, but in the middle years as well.
I liked that this book does highlight the scars of misogynistic treatment of women & sexual molestation. I do wish there would have been some inclusion of the importance of women learning self-defense or better yet, martial arts, which made me not part of the #metoo movement, but part of the #notme movement instead (3 times men

Sweet enough to rot your teeth

This romance moves with slow caution. Nearly all characters exude friendliness and helpfulness. Even the dogs and horses have no flaws. The cover blurb likens this to the Virgin River series, but those books actually have some tension. The relationship building in this story flows like molasses, slow and sickeningly sweet. Although it's largely free of overwrought angst (points in favor), there's no suspense, no real conflict, no true obstacle until near the end whe

After a harrowing experience many years ago, this you female lawyer is still haunted by what had occurred. It had been partially to blame for her marriage breakup, and now she had fled from the perpetrator of her nightmares to start over in Aspen Ridge.
The other half of our romantic equation is a cowboy who is trying to fill his father's shoes, after his Dad's demise last year.
Although they appear to be at the opposite ends of the social spectrum, in this story they just mesh.
Another excellent r

An incident when she was an intern scared her and she withdrew into her work as a lawyer. Then when a new judge would be appointed, she decided on a complete changed. Changing the city for a slower pace, in a small town. With a girlfriend from college, and setting up a practice of her own,. Enjoying walking to work, and around town, Meeting a cowboy and learning to ride a horse, brought more than she ever imagine.

I found this book very interesting. I could believe most of the story plot to be real. The feelings of both sides of a "One night stand" going sideways. Glad for the ending, I don't give spoilers! I give two thumbs up ...more

Wonderful!!

Jill delivers once again! The new faces and names in Aspen Ridge are becoming family just like Peakview. Her characters are so relatable, and the descriptions of the scenery...I have spent a lot of time in the Rocky Mountains. Jill takes me home with every book!

Mature romance

I like love. stories with mature characters. Angela is a lawyer and at 44 decides to move out to the country and start her own practice. Colt is a cattle ranch owner still single and interested in the new woman in town.

This was an enjoyable read. Very clean and romantic. Although it had a happy ending, I was not happy that it ended so abruptly. I would have liked a short epilogue added.
