Karen Booth’s Eden’s Empire series is about three sisters who take over and run their family’s department store after the death of their grandmother. A Bet with Benefits is the third book in the series and is a standalone read. Fans of this series will be happy with the re-appearance of characters from the previous two books.
Karen is one of my favorite authors because I’m always able to lose myself to her stories and be transported to another world. Her characters all have heart and passion. What’s surprising is that even when a character rubs me the wrong way, she always manages to redeem them. Going into A Bet with Benefits, I needed both characters to redeem themselves. They did so and more.
Mindy Eden is the oldest of the Eden sisters. It was never her dream to run the “family business” like her sister Sophie. Mindy wanted to be her own person and stand on her own two feet. She started By Min-vitation Only (BMO) on her own. The company while new was successful and growing. Mindy was actually living out her dream until the death of her grandmother, Victoria Eden. Now, Mindy finds herself forced to spend the next two years working with her sisters to abide by her grandmother’s will. Not wanting to let her company go, Mindy is forced to hire an interim CEO for the company while she works for Eden’s department store. But Mindy isn’t one to let someone else truly run a company she built from scratch. Mindy, in essence, is burning the midnight oil, being COO of Eden’s and looking over the shoulder of her interim CEO.
Sam Blackwell is a successful real estate and business investor. He’s been known to make some questionable business choices, and thus has rubbed a few people the wrong way. Sam is driven to be the best, if for nothing else then for the memory of his parents. Sam is a man who keeps people at a distance, never revealing his true self.
Mindy and Sam first became a couple in A Christmas Temptation. It first appeared Sam was only seeing Mindy so she would agree to sell Eden’s to him. This didn’t go over well with Sophie. Adding to the issue is the fact that Sophie’s fiancé Jake despises Sam due to their past interactions. A Cinderella Seduction found Sam once again doing things that seemed to be unethical and impersonal. Choosing her family over the man she has been sleeping with, Mindy breaks things off with Sam for good. However, A Bet with Benefits finds the two back in each other’s atmosphere.
From the beginning, A Bet with Benefits owned my heart. I honestly kept waiting to see if my heart was just playing tricks on me. But my mind came on board too. Sam and Mindy are unbelievable. I didn't think they had it in them to love each other truly and deeply. But it turns out these two were just afraid of love and being hurt by it again. I wanted them to redeem themselves from the previous books and they did. They are probably my favorite couple of the whole series. In A Bet with Benefits, I was able to see who they truly were. All of their secrets, scars, and insecurities were laid out. My heart broke for them as they fought themselves, each other, and the Eden family to claim the love they so desperately wanted.
Karen has once again written an incredible story. She has thrown in some surprises and a twist. I’m looking forward to seeing what she has in store next.

Mindy Eden’s and Sam Blackwell had an off and again relationship until she broke up with him again for the third time and he decided to finally get over her. Some months later Mindy is wanting to buy a building and discovers that Sam had already bought it, so she goes to his workplace to confront him, but while she is there he makes a deal with her: he will sell it back to her if he can be her date to her sister's wedding to try to resolve some old conflicts her sisters had with him and after listening to his proposal she accepts.
They rekindle the relationship they had in the weekend they pass together and Sam decides to be honest with her and tell her to think if she really wanted to be commited to him and was ready to confront her sisters objections about him once and for all.
This story is extremely enjoyable and i was very taken with the couple and anxiously waiting for them to finally work out their problems and finally have their happiness together. I will say though that i found her sister Sophie to be a little disrespectful in her opinions to her, it was understanable that she was not happy about the situation and held a grudge with Sam, but at times she said what she was thinking and expected Mindy to do what she wanted without objections.

A battle of wills becomes a meeting of hearts. Mindy and Sam are temptation in a frustrating package. Booth grabs you heart first and sets about creating sparks. A Bet with Benefits breathes sexy with a hint of sass and nothing but heart.

This is the third story of the Eden Empire series by Karen Booth. I do recommend reading them in order, A Christmas Temptation #1, A Cinderella Seduction #2 then this one of course, so that you get to know the family and all the details of what has brought them to this point. This book is Mindy Eden’s story. She’s the oldest sister, very much the almost O.C.D. one and she has her mind on business all the time. Okay, business and incredible shoes. Anyway, she’s had an on again, off again relationship with Sam Blackwell. We met him in the first book, and definitely met him in the second. All three sisters own a department store together, but Mindy has a business she started way before they inherited the store together.
Mindy is having some issues with her first business and had wanted to purchase a building for it to move into. Only, it had been sold right out from under her to…Sam! This was during one of their ‘off again’ times, so she goes immediately to his office to confront him about it. Oy vey. Sam agrees to sell the building to Mindy if she will take his as her ‘plus one’ to her sister Sophie’s wedding. He wants to make some business contacts. She agrees and so they go together against both her sisters’ wishes. Mindy and Sam have incredible chemistry and the sex is always phenomenal, but she doesn’t necessarily treat him well. I say this because in this story she really doesn’t see that she’s never put him even equally with her priorities. Of course, Sam has his own sets of issues. He’s terrible at communicating and just feels that if he does something that he thinks will help her then that’s all he needs to do.
I have been ambivalent about my feelings for Mindy since A Cinderella Seduction and continued to be for the first half of this book. Sam is the type of man my best friend would describe as a ‘man in pain’ and would be her favorite character. Regardless of his mistakes and his different fears I can’t say that I ever disliked him. Mindy was not just struggling with her attraction to a man her family didn’t want her with, she was also striving to get past her own fears. I have now read all three of the Eden Empire books and they are all worth reading. I really want to read the next story of the series! Isabel’s story is 'A Christmas Rendezvous' (The Eden Empire Book 4) which is releasing November 1. This is a great book and Ms. Booth has written a fantastic series about the Eden Empire!

Mindy and Sam have been in the background of both A CHRISTMAS TEMPTATION and A CINDERELLA SEDUCTION, the first two stories in the Eden Empire series. Now, in A BET WITH BENEFITS, we get their side of their story, the entire story and in many ways, it is far different than what we might have believed.
Mindy is burning the candle at both ends, and the middle as well, trying to keep up with her own company and working with her sisters at Edens, the family generational business that all three sisters have jointly inherited… along with the troubles it brings. She made the difficult choice to sever her ties with Sam, choosing family over their relationship but now she’s about to walk back into the lion’s den for Sam has something she needs desperately – and Mindy has connections that Sam needs to improve his “image”. A compromise of sorts will bring them back together, at least temporarily. And a bet with her sisters will once again play into how Mindy reacts to her feelings for Sam.
Both Mindy and Sam are strong personalities, each driven (for far different reasons) to be successful in their chosen fields. Those strong personalities are going to come into play in their story since they may have had undeclared feelings before their final breakup but that silence between them has added to their complicated relationship. Without giving away things I shouldn’t, I definitely understood Sam much better from this story – I “got” why he is, well, as he is now. I, personally, have dealt with some of what Sam has gone through – although my dealing was different, I still felt empathy and understanding for his actions. Yet, until he finally broke his silence Mindy had no clue as to what drove him, what caused the break in his friendship with Jake, or why success means so much to him. It was an enjoyable, sizzling, and satisfying journey to their happy ending.
Now, we get to look forward to the next story in this series due out in November 2019. If you love series, continuing threads that bind people and storylines together, a couple that must fight hard for their future happiness, and simply a damned good romance then you’ll want to pick up A BET WITH BENEFITS. I had a blast and would not hesitate to recommend this story or the entire series to any Romance reader.

This is book three in the Eden Empire Series. Mindy finally gets her story with Sam. Sam has been one of those characters you want to throat punch for the first two books. I keep saying “Oh Mindy you can do so much better than this man who doesn’t seem to really care about you”. I figured he was going to keep stomping on her heart.
Sam needs to get invited to Mindy’s sister wedding and Mindy needs Sam to sell her the building he bought out from under her. He’ll sell her the building if she gets him in to the wedding where he’s hoping to mend some fences. Sophie isn’t happy about Sam being at her wedding so her and Emma come up with a bet for Mindy. The bet is that Mindy won’t develop romantic feelings for Sam. If Sophie wins Mindy has to stick around Eden’s for another year after the fulfillment of the will requirements. If Mindy wins she doesn’t hear another word from Sophie or Emma about staying at Eden’s. Can Mindy resist Sam to get the one thing she thinks she wants most or will she lose the bet and gain something more.
I loved seeing Sam develop into a character you could love. He and Mindy are perfect for each other. I enjoyed seeing their relationship develop and bloom. They both had a lot of character growth.

A Bet with Benefits is a fast-paced enjoyable read that captures your attention from beginning to end. It is book three of The Eden Empire Series that highlights the on again off again relationship of Sam Blackwell and Mindy Eden.
They both have something that only the other can provide to include an invite to an Eden sister’s wedding and ownership of a building that Mindy has her eyes on, only to find out that her ex, Sam has bought it. An impromptu meeting with the sole intention of her getting the building she wants and buying it back from Sam leads to the unthinkable, him being her plus one. After all, their deal has to be a win-win.
Weekend attendance at the wedding leads them to not want to end things so soon. Sounds easy enough but there is just one small situation. A bet Mindy made with her beloved sisters.
A week together with close quarter combat help to aid and discover that bets are off when it comes to the chemistry and intimacy of Sam and Mindy. They both have their reasons for keeping their inner feelings at bay. Discovering each other beyond the physical attraction is a gamble they both have to take and is not easy for either of them.
The build-up and journey of discovery of their true feelings for one another are enough to keep you turning the pages and rooting for Sam and Mindy.

A Bet With Benefits by Karen Booth. This is Sam and Mindy's story. Sam and Mindy had a on again off again relationship. Not realizing how much they really hurt each other because they were in love. Sam managed to save the building that Mindy wanted for her business. She didn't know what to think. But Sam used it to strike a deal to get an invite to her sister's wedding. He wants to change his reputation and make amends but its really hard. When the two get back together as part of their deal and Mindy decides to stay the week with Sam after her sisters are gone. They start to learn things about each other they didn't know and the longer they are together the more the sparks fly and they both are falling deeper in love and fear the end of the relationship again. It was good to see they both were very vulnerable and in the end took a chance on love not matter what. Not letting anyone get in their way. Good read. Wash't ready for their story to end.

A Bet with Benefits is the third in Karen Booth’s Eden Empire series, about the three sisters who’ve inherited a long-standing department store from their beloved grandmother. While the three of them are doing their best to keep Eden’s afloat and successful, Mindy has her hands even fuller as she’s determined to keep her own business up and running as well. Not to mention the distraction that businessman Sam Blackwell is proving to be.
Sam has never known someone as captivating as Mindy, but his ruthlessness in the workplace is coming back to bite him as Mindy’s sisters are convinced he’s potentially a snake in the grass, and their protectiveness cause Mindy to doubt their fragile relationship.
Ms Booth does a lovely job with Mindy and Sam, who find that a stolen week together help them reveal their true selves to each other, and give them reason to hope and work for a more permanent arrangement.
A Bet with Benefits is a very satisfying read, and I look forward to more from Ms Booth!

I didn't realize when I first received this book that it was actually the third book of a series. The other two books don't need to have been read to be able to follow along with this one, but I do wish I would have known and read them before this book. Without reading the other books I felt that the sisters were a giant pain and really needed to step back from trying to tell Mindy what to do with her life. At the same time Mindy needed to stand up for herself both about work, and her personal life and tell her sisters to back off. I felt like Sam got the raw end of the deal, Mindy's family doesn't like him causing tension in their relationship, Mindy doesn't love him enough to stand up for their relationship, and he's bending over backwards to help simplify Mindy's life and she's still half in/ half out. Eventually it all works out but I felt Sam deserved a lot better, especially with the difficult background he's had to deal with.

He and Mindy the eldest Edan sister have an on again off again relationship when during a off period of their time together he buys a building that she needs he agrees to sell, it to her if she will take him as her partner to her sisters wedding as he wants to meet people to make business contacts. With her family hating Sam due to happening in the earlier books and Sam not exactly going out of his way to smooth things do these two have any chance at actually having a stable relationship. Sam is hurting will he take it out on the woman he loves or wuill he allow her to smooth the edges he uses as protection and will she eventually tell her sisters that iti#is her life to live. You will have to read to see if they get their HEA

This is Book 3 of the Eden Empire Series and my first read by this author, and let me just say that I am pleasantly surprised. I quite enjoyed the storyline, the characters, and the author's writing style. The books in the series are interconnected but can be read as standalones. It is a second chance romance between former lovers, Mindy and Sam. These flawed characters and the unique plot make for an interesting read. Once they reconnect, it is an emotional roller coaster as Mindy and Sam work through their issues and overcome the challenges that face their renewed relationship. What starts out as a bet with her sisters turns into something more. It is a love story with drama and angst, peppered with hope, humor, and love, plus engaging secondary characters to keep the reader interested. Overall, it is an emotional read with heart, heat, and a happy ending. A great addition to the series.

After all the under handedness Sam did during the last book I was stoked to finally get to know him and find out if he really is a douche bag as well as try and understand Mindy's apparent addiction to him yet need to continuously pushing him away. There is so much more to Sam that you would think and you can't help to feel for him as well as see why it is going to take him being pushed a bit for people to see the real him. Mindy is complex and wants to please everyone but forgets about herself and doesn't trust herself to back herself but she has a second or is it third chance with Sam and it's up to them. This was a great read and I loved how the Eden girls look out for each other even if they don't always like who their sister is seeing.

A Bet with Benefits is the third installment in The Eden Empire, but can be read as a standalone novel. Mindy is the eldest sister who is juggling working in the family business and her own personal business. Sam is her off and on lover and perceived as the villain in the previous stories.
In a Bet with Benefits Mindy finds herself agreeing to a bet with her sister to keep peace while agreeing to being Sam’s date in order to buy a building that Sam owns.
The author allows us to step into Mindy’s place and allow use to see Sam as he struggle to allow Mindy into his personal life. Karen Booth had me crying and cheering for Sam as he struggle to share his past to gain acceptance and Mindy’s love.

A BET WITH BENEFITS is the third book in Karen Booth's The Eden Empire series and revolves around the final sister Mindy and her on-again, off-again lover Sam.
Mindy has been vocal about wanting to be out from under the family business for the entire series, so she's been an interesting character throughout. We watched her walk away from Sam when he threatened her sister's happiness ... but how he's back, and she might not be able to resist him again.
Sam has an interesting back story that we learn through this book. It explains him and his cutthroat ways a bit more.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a fast paced, family centric delve into high powered business, diverse family dynamics and sexy connections. The entire series has been full of passion and strife, and I'm looking forward to more!

Mindy and Sam have had an off and on relationship and when Sam does something that impacts of Mindy's family she throws Sam to the kerb even though they have such hot chemistry. Months later Mindy is after a building for her business and Sam buys it out from under her , she is furious and marches into Sam's office were he says that he will sell it back to her if he can be her plus one to her sister's wedding and she says yes and then all help breaks loose. Is this the end for them or just the beginning. I really enjoyed reading this book as it was so well written and I am looking forward to reading more books from Karen. I definitely recommend you read this book and series and you will not be disappointed.

A Bet with Benefits is the third in the Eden Empire series but can be read as a stand alone. This is a story about finding the strength to fight for the relationship that you want against all odds and interference from loving family. Mindy and Sam have always had an explosive, on again off again relationship but when a business deal brings them back together again, Mindy's family steps in to try and prevent her from being hurt again. They always say that the third times the charm and this proves true when during the time they spend together, they begin to learn about each other and communicate. The development of the relationship, the family interaction and past reveals create a beautiful love story that flows and entertains until the last page. This is a great story.

I thought I knew who Mindy and Sam were from seeing them in the previous books. Boy was I ever wrong. They are both so much more complex and wounded than I ever guessed. As badly as I want to explain that statement, I’m afraid that if I did, I would end up deep in spoiler territory. I loved getting the chance to see inside their tumultuous relationship and learning why it always appeared so rocky and volatile. I know we’ve now seen all the Eden sisters settled, but this isn’t the end of the Eden saga. I can’t wait to see what the author brings us next.

This is my 3rd book by Karen and I love this Eden Empire series! Mindy is furious to find out that her ex bought the building she wanted to consolidate her business seemingly out from under her. Sam offers her a deal to buy it from him if she takes him to her sister’s wedding, to which she accepts his offer. Her sisters bet her to not get back together with Sam, or stay another year at Eden. But when Sam and Mindy spend a wonderful week together, will it all end when her sisters return from their vacations? I couldn’t put this book down until I turned the last page.

I enjoyed this third story in the "Eden Empire". This is a stand alone story but has connected characters. The "Eden Empire" series is based on three sisters are trying to run the department store that they inherited from their grandmother. Each sister has their own story/book. In this one we finally get Sam and Mindy's story. These two have had an on again and off again relationship and her sisters make her a bet. I thoroughly enjoyed ever bit of it, including the wonderful ending with another bet. There are family dynamics at work which adds some drama. Really like the twists and turns. The story is well written with great characters.

This was a very good book and truly enjoyed Mindy and Sam’s story, this was a very relatable story because some people do let their family dictate their lives and they end up being lonely due to they listen to their family and not their hearts. This was a fun quick read and I look forward to the next one in the series.

This is the third book in The Eden Empire series, it can be read as a standalone story but it's that much better if you read the first two first, the family dynamics in the Eden family is dramatic and the interaction between Sam and Mindy is deep and you can feel the emotion between them including the hurt from their past relationship.
The storyline is fast-paced and well-written, the characters are stubborn yet likable. I really enjoyed this series, all the books are entertaining and keep you entertained.

A love story - with the perfect balance of angst, humor and family drama - that pulled at my heart and made me smile (ok, I admit, there were also a few tears of joy). It was great being with the entire Eden clan again, and finally getting Sam and Mindy's side of the story. Who knew Sam was going to be such a romantic guy??!!! This is becoming one of my favorite romance series - love the engaging characters and the always interesting storylines. Hope there will be many more books to come (I need a HEA for Isabel!!)

Family dynamics can destroy a relationship and for these two family is definitely in the way, but a second chance allows for mending of fences and hearts. I really enjoyed the characters and the steamy electricity that is generated. Finding a mole that is sabotaging business and opening of hearts to trust really makes this an enjoyable read.

This is a good story with some great characters that are well rounded and realistic. The story is well written and believable. Sam and Mindy have hurt each other in the past, but get a second chance to get it right. They have to deal with family drama and fear of opening up to each other.
