Our kids beg us for stories at bedtime or while we drive; we gather around firepits and dinner tables to tell and retell our favorite tales—the more dramatic the better. But when it comes to our actual lives, we prefer something less sensational, even boring—sunny skies and smooth sailing, please and thank you. We want our own stories to be

This is not going to be one of my normal book reviews because this was not a normal book. This was a book that God brought along just when I needed it. I’m twenty-nine years old and my life is nothing like I thought it would be at this point. That isn’t to say I don’t love my life. I am so grateful for where I am and what God has allowed me to do. However, though the spirit is willing, my flesh is weak. This last week, discouragement has been pulling at me.

So many people, with the best of intent

Trust. Oh, how often I say I trust God. That He is sovereign, He loves me, and He will cause all things to work together for good. Yet, when a little pressure and uncertainty comes my way, the anxiousness sets in. And then the need to plan, plot, and take control sets in. Then the questions come – what is God doing? Does God love me? How is this for my good? And then time and time again, God shows that He is faithful. I’m guessing since seasoned bible teachers like Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth and Rob ...more

"Only He fully knows why He does what He does." This quote from the book conveys the overall message of the book. We will not always or even often understand what God is doing in our lives and this book is such an encouraging reminder that we do not have to understand, we simply have to trust. He is absolutely in control of everything that happens in our lives and for that we must be thankful. Robert & Nancy share personal stories and interviews of people who have been through and continue t ...more

Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth and husband Robert D. Wolgemuth tackle issues of God's providence in their book, "You Can Trust God to Write Your Story." They begin by identifying the elements of a good story, and then relate them to our own life stories. They also try to help readers see that their own stories do matter. Relying on their own love story and the stories of countless others walking through all kinds of trials and difficulties, the Wolgemuths show how God's hand is at work, even if we can't ...more

If I am sure of something, it is that I do not write the story, the story of my life. I would have written a very different one, and surely very horrible/disastrous. Thank God that in the midst of my immaturity, stubbornness and sin he has taken the pages and written better ideas than I could have had. I trust in that grace, in that providence and sovereignty on which I can rest, that even in the parts that I do not understand and from which I would like to flee, He has and will always have cont ...more

Who doesn't love a good story? The characters are introduced, we come to love them, and ... Bam! Calamity. Conflict. Confusion. The waves of time and circumstance act to stand in the way of our hero. Will he succumb to the obstacles in his path? Or will he rise above to find his destiny? We hope, we cheer, and we find ourselves emotionally invested with each turning of the page. And in time, the hero begins to take on a life of his own.

In Nancy Demoss Wolgemuth's newest book, written with her hu

I was excited to get this book because I really respect this author and have been blessed by her Bible studies and podcasts. It's a solid, good book that tells the stories of many people who have faced pretty difficult issues. Its power isn't in any one particular story, but the accumulation of the stories and the constant, book-long reminder that God knows what He is doing, is kind and good, and will not abandon our story in the middle. He'll bring it to a great conclusion, even if that is in h ...more

This wonderful book is packed with personal stories illustrating God at work in people’s lives, including the authors and many others who have dealt with difficult situations as well as some from the Bible. The sixteen chapters cover areas such as marriage, illness, straying family members, and death. Even the foreword and introduction touched me. It’s an inspirational book that I will read over and over again. The entire focus is on how God works behind the scenes in our lives and encourages tr ...more

This book is amazing because it helps you to see that God has a plan for your life. This book is filled with stories about how God is sovereign and writes our story regardless of what it looks like. The authors share beautiful hard stories of things that they walked through. The authors say this in the book "What we see now is not the whole story if we could see what God sees and knows what he knows, our hearts would be at peace". They share that "We can trust him to write the story of those we ...more

Trust God to write your story is a beautiful blend of Theology and masterful storytelling. The mix of chapter topics makes this not only an encouraging read but a fabulous resource as the plot twists of life happen. There are chapters that highlight a different Bible character who trusted God with their story. Intertwined are chapters detailing trusting God in a specific valley of life (for example: when a loved one dies, or someone sins against you). I believe that this book will serve a a refe ...more

When you begin a book, and the tribute page grips your soul, squeezing out instant grateful praise to God, you can be pretty sure you've got a gem in your hands. Such was my experience as I began to read, 'You Can Trust God With Your Story,' by Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth and Robert Wolgemuth.

I read all sorts of Christian books, - especially Christian Living and Biblical Counseling type books. Many of these books faithfully remind me of things first taught in the Bible. Many bring conviction on one i

I loved this book. This is a such an encouraging message that we need to hear: God is writing our story. The stories that the authors share about their own lives and the others mentioned in this book are testimonies to the Lord’s grace through the happy and tragic things that are part of our life here in earth. We are never alone, and God walks besides each one of us for His glory and our ultimate good.

The authors do a great job switching back and forth in the chapters, and their writing styles

This book has been a needed reminder for me! God uses suffering, sometimes pain, things that He hates to accomplish what He loves - transformation of His children into Christlikeness and bringing glory to His Name! An engaging book to read filled with stories of people in today’s time and people in the pages of Scripture.

I received an arc of this book on netgalley in exchange for a honest review.

I did not particularly enjoy this book because I did not really connect with the stories and information given and I feel like it is book for a very specific niche of people.

It takes a certain gift to write a book about stories and leave the reader remembering the point of the stories more than the stories themselves. That's what the Wolgemuth's have done in this book. While many books leave us having learned more about the author, this book leaves us with a better knowledge of the Creator and Author. This is where hope is found, not in relating to another person as comforting as that might be, but in seeing our relation to God and His care and providence.

What an uplifting and inspiring book about trusting God and His providence in all seasons, trials and phases of life! In this book, Nancy and her husband, Robert, explores life's issues and our struggles in matters such as marriage, singleness, financial, health, death, and children - and how we can simply trust God for His faithfulness and care amid these challenging times. This book is replete with Scriptures, stories from Bible (Joseph, Naomi and Ruth, Esther, Mary & Joseph) and also enco ...more
