I published a review of this book back in 2001, as I felt it was such a wonderful overview of the era. I read it was I was teaching history on this era at this stage, and it was published several years after I had completed my thesis. For someone who wants to get a good backgroudn in the ear of Stuart History, this book would be hard to beat. It does have some weaknesses, but its strengths definitely outweigh those.
