Thank you to NetGalley for
A Witch in Time.
They might regret it because I'm gonna rip it a new one.
I was really excited to read A Witch in Time because the premise had all the elements I look for: magic, demons, horror, love, tragic love!
I'm so there!
Then, I started reading.
** Danger Will Robinson! Spoilers ahead **
I disliked Juliet. Intensely. She is a silly little girl with no redeemable qualities.

I grabbed A WITCH IN TIME on impulse because the prospect of doomed love has always been a concept that has appealed to the dark romantic in me. It is a story about a woman with a curse, doomed to repeat the same mistakes throughout time. And the man-- or should I say, demon-- who loves her. Oh, and she's a witch.
"Aha!" I thought. "Interesting!"
And it was... interesting. But not in the way I expected or necessarily wanted. Gentle spoiler ...more

There is only one novel in which you can live your life four times, in different ways, through two centuries, trapped in a deadly curse with a demon at your heels. If you are a fan of time-travel books like me, then the blurb alone at the back of the book should have you hooked in an instant.

A Witch in Time is a haunting story of doomed, enduring love. It’s mesmerizing and otherworldly, yet also very much grounded in the here and now.
As the story opens, we meet Helen Lambert, a successful media professional in her mid-30s, recently divorced from a mover and shaker in the museum world, cautiously stepping back into the dating world. But the man she’s set up with on a blind date is both strange and familiar. There’s something about Luke Varner that resonates with Helen. He implies tha ...more

I really enjoyed A Witch in Time, but I’ll say this right off the bat—it’s not going to be for everyone. First of all, if you’re looking for a “witchy” book, with magic and spells and all that jazz, well…this is not going to be it. What we have here is more like a love story, and it’s a strange one at that. Delving into the concept of past lives and predetermined fate, this novel follows three characters and their various ...more

Ok WOAH. What did I read!? I went into this book expecting something, and I was taken on a whole different direction, which I loved! So we’ll written, and I loved how, in the beginning we’re given little snippets of past VS present, but then after we know what’s going on we’re given huge blocks of time - it felt like there was 4 books in 1!
The characters are easy to love and root for, despite knowing what’s going to happen. The ending was perfect and not rushed, which is always a good sign!

Intriguing storyline BUT it dragged at points, was confusing at times and sometimes went too fast so you couldn't keep up. It's a meh read. The type book you would find in a dollar store.

This book had so much potential, the story premise and concept were a home run from the first time I heard about it. I was not expecting to be met with a book that I disliked so greatly.
Unfortunately, the execution fell extremely flat for me. Writing style is a preference, and I just wasn’t sucked in by Constance’s style. I felt it was too dialogue heavy and the pacing was off — I just wasn’t a fan of the storytelling. There were moments that felt unnecessarily elongated and other times where an ...more

With all the covid-19 news, I have been struggling to read. I picked up A Witch in Time and devoured the majority of the book in one long sitting! This is the deeply intriguing story of a doomed love story cursed to repeat time and time again. Reminiscent of The Time Traveler’s Wife with a bit of The Mayfair Witches series mixed in. Constance Sayers has written a brilliant debut!

A Witch In Time has all the elements that attract me to a book: witches, demons, past lives, reincarnation, and a cursed/doomed love. This book is about a human, a witch, and a demon stuck in a perpetual looped curse that three of them have to relive in multiple lifetimes. It all starts in 1895, when a Parisian painter, Auguste Marchant, seduces sixteen-years old Juliet. Juliet's mother, a minor witch, curses Auguste to eternal damnation, accidentally tying Juliet to Auguste's fate. Lucas is the

I enjoyed this book. I admit it started off a little slow for me but I did love and enjoy this book. I have to say I really enjoyed Nora's story line, she was an actress in the 193os. I like Constance Sayers' storytelling and I'm very excited to read her next book. ...more

I put Constance Sayers’ A Witch in Time aside as a DNF the first time I picked it up. Helen Lambert bored me to tears, and I cared so little about her love life that I could not push through the beginning of chapter three. I had no intention of returning to the book, but I left it on my kindle and ended up cracking it open on the heels of a heavy nonfiction, thinking it would serve as a mindless transitional read. This has all the makings of a five star read for me. It’s not a bad book! It has its issues that I was able to kind of read through and get past..I think writing stories the way this one is written has to be tricky: we have a modern day heroine who is the reincarnation of another women from 1895. She is about to reach her 34th birthday and relives her past lives and learns that basically the way the curse on her is set up-she never lives past 34. So we follow not only her but the three women she

"Our illusions are powerful things we cling to."
I used to be cautious when trying out new authors. The unfamiliarity of their writing, not knowing how well you will mesh with their personal style, and the worry that the quality may not be up to par were things that went through my head. But in the last couple of years, I've found that some of my favorit ...more

Ok so as I pick up the shattered pieces of my effin heart, let me say this isn't my "normal" type of reading, but I am so glad I picked it up. I am a fan of nearly anything to do with witches, especially if lots of lore is involved. But this one had a love story that, that, that Idk how to explain it without ruining it so just read it ok.

What I Loved:
I LOVED this book. Every single word, every page, every character. Can I also just throw in my massive cover-love for this one! It was a wonderful, exciting ride filled with a witch’s curse, a romance that spans lifetimes, secrets, and so much more!
How I Felt:
This book just grabbed me from the start. I love it when a book does that because I’m immediately invested and find myself flying through the pages. With A Witch in Time, I never stopped being invested and it was wonderful.

I received this e-arc from NetGalley and the author for an honest and unbiased review that is solely my own.
The title and especially the cover are what caught my attention when I first saw this novel. The premise was icing on the cake. I want to preface by stating this is not like a young adult novel of curses, witches, demons and love. This isn’t even like Practical Magic level of witchery. This novel is a curse of revenge done by a lesser witch to “protect” her daughter but it backfires, ensn ...more

This book was recommended by my GR friend Toni. I most likely wouldn’t have picked it up without her bringing it to my attention so thank you for that. I love stories of reincarnation and loved ones finding each other again and again in the next life. This had a bit of a twist with a curse tied in. I enjoyed it but didn’t love it. The writing is very good and the story interesting. I think my problem was every time I began to like a storyline it changed of course in a way the character is always

We follow Juliette through a doomed romance that spans multiple lifetimes from a curse cast by her mother that was suppose to protect her. If you're looking for alot of magic or young adult type witchy this isn't it. This is very dark at some points. There is abuse and rape. This was a very creative plot. I loved the time travel back in time. There are four different lifetimes. Historical star crossed lovers. A hauntingly beautiful debut.
