Absolutely incredible. By far my favorite (omfg I. L O V E D. THIS.) installment in the series thus far!
I love seeing Tori grow as a character in each installment, and she certainly grows a LOT in this one. It’s amazing. Annette Marie is possibly one of the best YA writers I’ve ever had the pleasure of discovering... she leaves you hanging on to every single word like they’re the air you need to breathe.
(WARNING: I am about to make a ton of exclamations. Let’s bring on those exclamation points!)
The villains! The action! The GHOST😱(such a fantastically done character even if he is devious. 🤭😊)! The Druid! The sexy! Ezraaaa! ZAK! ZAK! The MAGIC! My God it’s so intricately woven & bold at the same time. This installment really made me do my happy dance and I will not apologize. I may have drooled a couple times too. Whatevs.
Um... there’s a leviathan. Enough said.

Ah; HOSHI! Ugh. Obsessed. So amazing. She rivals Zak as my fav character in this one <3. I won’t spoil anything about her. 😉

Zak. Zak. Zak, is my main man forever. Yes, yes, mmmk? Aaaaaand more yes. Fight me.
The EVERYTHING about this series is AMAZING & ADDICTIVE AF. It’s seriously giving me new adult/ adult (they’re in their early 20’s, mostly) very vaguely This Savage Song vibes (maybe ?), HP vibes, as well as some TMI vibes (more on the shadowhunter side of the spectrum than HP, because while elements of this have a bit of light whimsy, it is by no means always whimsical). It is 100% SO fantastical & magical, though with some DARK Urban Fantasy elements, as well . Also, the wit, sass, cleverness, the great friend/ “combat group” trope reminds me of all three.
Hrm, four, actually, because the mysteriousness that the series leans towards, the saving the world with that hardcore sass, sarcasm, etc... makes me also even throw a DASH of Skullduggery Pleasant into this vibe pot as well (stir in mixture gradually as you bring to a boil, then let simmer on medium heat for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Voila! *chef’s kiss*👌🏻haha).
Though this may remind me of SOME elements of those books... it truly is very vaguely... I assure you that this series is in a sub-genre all of it’s own and each book is a completely new & unique experience !! If you love Urban Fantasy, supernatural elements, unique magic systems, & paranormal romance you’re in for a hell of a treat if you add this novel/ series to your TBR.

This series is fun fluff for me, but Tori is suddenly getting on my nerves. I don't recall her being so purposefully stupid/self-centered in her decision making skills in the prior books. I mean, if someone says they are busy and in the middle of something but will come see you when they are done, that is not an invitation to go find them and interrupt them just so you can get what you want right now. The second book went in a completely different direction from the first book, and now this third book has the main character digressing instead of progressing in terms of her maturity. I'll give this series one more try with the next book - they are free audiobooks through my library so no real risk on my part aside from my time.

Hands down my favorite book of the series thus far. I am in love with all the characters (), and I was so happy to get to spend some quality time with them. The wait till the next book in April is gonna be rough....
I especially loved reading about the inner struggles that Tori went through in this story, because let's be real...a human hanging out with a bunch of mythics is bound to bring up some self reflection.
One of my favorite things about this series is that each book is it's own episode, so to speak. There is still a larger story and plotline happening, but each book is self contained and has a satisfying conclusion. No cliffhangers, but still enough is left unsaid to keep you coming back for more. Plus this is Annette Marie so you should be reading all her stuff anyway.
Okay can we have book 4 now? =)

Tori's list of wonderfully unique experiences is getting richer by the minute:
Flown with a dragon? CHECK
Made a darkfae scream like a sissy girl? CHECK
Punched a rogue druid in the nose? CHECK
Thrown a drink on three mages at once? CHECK
Kidnapped by a druid? CHECK
Saved a macho, full-power, light-up-the-room pyromage? Twice? CHECK
Attacked a person with an umbrella? Twice? CHECK (note: the umbrellas have demonstrate 100% morbidity)
Isn't she fun to be around?
And she's amassing cool-ass magical artefacts:
Q: In it were three sorcery artifacts: my Queen of Spades card, stolen from a rogue sorcerer in my first violent mythic encounter; a fat ruby-red crystal on a leather tie, also stolen; and a very illegal spell set in a green crystal that I probably shouldn’t be hanging on to. (c)
A Leviathan is another fantastic add to the collection.
And all the action - lots of fun packed in an easy read. And a lot of satisfaction in the way the wishes keep coming true in this one.

“I’ll have him disembowel the Yamada mongrel—you know, because that’s how Japanese samurai commit suicide, right?”
Wow. Not only a would-be murderer, but a racist too. (c) That's not racism, that's nationalism. I think I need to start docking points off books where words are used in the wrong meanings.

Oh, this series delights me ever so much! I truly wish that it would never end. This series has it all! Scenes that will make you laugh out loud, high stakes, magic, a grip of handsome mythic men to drool over, and a heroine that has no superpowers but can still kick ass with the rest of them.
I am so glad that Annette Marie decided to go the route of episodic episodes for this series. While elements from each book crossover to the next in the series, each book has a self-contained plot. While there is enough information planted into the books to leave some mystery and plot points to grow on for future books, there are no cliffhangers. Marie is a truly skilled plotter. Her stories take on a life of their own. The construction of her stories is always incredibly clever and the basis of them is always unique. It is what I have come to expect from her stories and I have never been disappointed. I love that I never know what to expect from the plot and that I am always surprised by the outcomes.
The world-building is much the same as in the first two books. The world itself is set in our own world, but with a secret, underlying magic world underneath. I am really enjoying the interesting magic system that Marie has created for this series. We get to explore some more of the rules and exceptions to that magic system in this book.
The characters are the absolute best! They are so easy to love. They have perfect chemistry and they feel like a family. I love the deep underlying aspect of friendship in this series. The characters care so much for each other and will go to great lengths for each other in this sometimes dangerous mythic world. There is also a large aspect of family or found/chosen family. The guild is a family for those that are members and Tori has been lacking in this department for most of her life so the guild becomes that for her as well. The characters are all written with enough mystery about them and their pasts to make you wonder what the missing pieces are and how they may fit into the story in later books. I liked that Tori was going through some deep personal emotions. She has to face her fears that if she should lose her job at the guild then her new friends would be lost to her as well. She faces her abandonment issues from her past with a little help from Ezra. I liked seeing more of Kai in this book. A look at his past was awesome. I liked that Zak returned in this book. I love his character and this book just cemented my love for him. I also liked the parts with Darius. He is the leader of the guild and he is as sharp as a blade and has a big heart. I liked the tender moments with Ezra. Aaron is trying to decipher his relationship with Tori. And I liked the introduction of new characters that kept things interesting. Bottom line, Marie can write characters like no one else. They are always complex with unbelievable chemistry.
There wasn't as much romance in this book. Tori and Aaron are trying to sort out their feelings for each other, but I don't want to get into it much because...spoilers. Let's just say that I wasn't surprised by anything.
This series is certainly addicting. I definitely recommend this series to fantasy lovers that enjoy fast-paced plots, an original story premise, and characters that will make you laugh out loud. It is ever so easy to fall in love with these books. I can't wait for the next installment of this series, Demon Magic and a Martini, which comes out in April! (Oh god, it feels like forever!)

Wie auch bei den vorherigen Bänden der Reihe fand ich die Story wieder ziemlich interessant und kurzweilig.
Allerdings, und ich kann es nicht mehr verleugnen, ist Torys aufgekratzte, alberne/kindische, prollige Art und dieses Geschwärme für absolut jeden Mann in ihrem Umfeld echt anstrengend🙈 Es ist sooo krass pick-me, mehr geht bald nicht😅
Wo die Reise aus romantischer Sicht hingeht, ist relativ offensichtlich, ich frage mich nur, ob wir dann an der Endstation angekommen sind (weil, Kandidaten gibt's ja noch genug).
Das Hörbuch wirkte leider sehr ungeschnitten. Es gab mehrere doppelte Sätze und einmal eine Rücksprache mit der Regie. Ich fands witzig, wäre mir als Herausgeberin aber superpeinlich😂 Allerdings legt Yeşim Meisheit so eine geile Performance hin, dass alles andere in den Hintergrund rückt🤩
Trotz Torys Pubertät macht die Reihe unglaublich viel Spaß und ich bleib definitiv dran.

Das Hörbuch wirkte leider sehr ungeschnitten. Es gab mehrere doppelte Sätze und einmal eine Rücksprache mit der Regie. Ich fands witzig, wäre mir als Herausgeberin aber superpeinlich😂 Allerdings legt Yeşim Meisheit so eine geile Performance hin, dass alles andere in den Hintergrund rückt🤩
Trotz Torys Pubertät macht die Reihe unglaublich viel Spaß und ich bleib definitiv dran.

I am having such a blast with this series. I love the world Annette Marie has created. While each book revolves around a mythical case, the series is best listened to in order of release.
So far the guild has done a good job of keeping Tori’s employment at the Claw & Hammer a secret, but MagiPol shows up with questions about recent cases/bounties and is looking for a guild member with red hair. A woman who was involved in a kidnapping case and may know the notorious Ghost. Eep! The guys get Tori out of there and Darius puts her on leave until things cool down. Our poor girl is depressed, but two witches show up at her apartment and things are about to get interesting!
We gain some insight into our handsome mages, particularly Kia. Ezra helps Tori sort through some of her own issues and we learn more about Zak, Aka the Ghost as Tori gets herself caught up with powerful fae, and a dark lord.
The plot was fast paced, action packed and entertaining. I enjoy how the author can share more about the characters and world as she seamlessly weaves them into the current storyline. We see overall series arc advancement including the MagiPol problem.
What really makes this series are the characters and bonds that form. We have magical creatures, complicated dudes, tarot readers and more. Darius the guild leader impresses me, and I love how Kia, Ezra and Aaron. I hope we see a lot more of Zak, the mysterious druid. The banter and snark between him and Tori are hilarious.
Cris Dukehart has become the voice of these characters. Her narration is fun. From the fae to Tori she has given each a unique voice that suits their personalities. I will grab other titles she narrates. This review was originally posted at Caffeinated Reviewer

Two Witches and a Whiskey (Guild Codex: Spellbound #3) by Annette Marie 7/8/2023
Tori’s time as an anonymous human working under the table at the Crow and Hammer are now over. The MPD barges into the guild and starts an investigation, forcing her to hide out at home with her fae roommate Twiggy but no contact to her mage friends. So, bored and reckless, she gets involved in a case of two witches who are trying to prevent evil sorcerers from binding a fae familiar against its will. Unfortunately, Tori ends up binding the fae to herself and has to break the bond with the help of Aaron, Kai, Ezra, and Zak.
I’m still firmly team Ezra at this point. We learn a little bit about his mysterious past in this book—apparently, he once lost control of himself and nearly killed Aaron. We still don’t know anything about his origins or his scar. Ezra is the sweet, reserved, competent hero type, and I love him. He’s my favorite out of the three mages.
Zak is growing on me as well. I still hate the way Tori treats him, but I can’t hold that against Zak. I just think he deserves better than Tori.
Tori unfortunately really was slipping into TSTL territory here, letting the witches into her apartment and then later, when Zak clearly told her to wait a sec because he was busy trying to help her, she ignores him and barges over to interrupt his auction anyway. GIRL. World does not revolve around you. She has got zero boundaries and still treats her friends as if they owe her all their time and attention.
Not much development in the romance department, though Aaron and Tori finally call it quits at the end of this book. It’s for the best. I didn’t really feel their chemistry.
I love that Annette Marie has not given in and made Tori into some kind of secret mythic. She’s still human, with only her wits and her will to help her get by in the mythic world. Darius declares her a witch because she has gained two fae willing to call themselves her familiars, giving Tori the choice to consider herself a full member of the mythic world. That felt sweet and authentic.
Spellbound #4 is next before we move into the Demonized series.

I think these are just getting better and better and I love how feisty Tori is. I will say, I am having a really hard time picking which boy is the best. I love them all and is it weird that I don't necessarily know if I want Tori with any of them or all of them LOL? I do hope we see more of a very broody druid though. After that ending I'm afraid we won't be seeing him for awhile and I adore him!

Ich liebe die Charaktere, ich liebe die Magie und die spannenden Abenteuer die Protagonistin Tori mehr oder weniger unfreiwillig bestreiten muss. Und trotz der Spannung und des Crime Anteils hat es was zum Wohlfühlen, weshalb ich immer gerne in diese Reihe zurückkehre.
Es gab ein paar überraschende Entwicklungen über die ich aber nicht unglücklich bin sondern eher gespannt und hoffnungsvoll was da vielleicht jetzt noch kommen wird 🤭

It is 4 AM so pardon my typos in this review but I just CANNOT with this book.
Annette Marie truly gets better with each and every book she writes. I am in love with Two Witches and a Whiskey and I am so, so impatient for the next one.
Let’s talk worldbuilding: this is something Marie excels at. This wild, supernatural world Tori’s found herself in grows with each new adventure. It not only furthers Tori’s involvement in the dangerous world, but also heightens all the stakes. And I just—I love it all so much? It makes for a fast-paced, action-packed read and it is absolutely thrilling.
Let’s talk characters: SUPERB. I have never loved Tori as much as I did in this book! I always have issues with feisty main characters because my introverted ass is hiding in shock from everything they do and say, but holy HELL. I did that here too but mostly in awe because wow, Tori is awesome. Being in her head is great—she’s genuinely funny and it balances out super well with the insecurities and fears she has. She’s grown so much but the core of her is still there and it makes for such! a! fun! book!
And as for the side characters and our three mages? LOVE. We get more insight into Kai this book and, not gonna lie, it’s pretty brilliant. I love that we get to see more of his backstory! (I have a favourite scene that features him and it’s probably the hottest scene I’ve ever read, ngl.) I also love the camaraderie between Tori and the guys—so genuine and realistic and pure! The jokes, the insults, the EVERYTHING. It’s all so authentic and reading this friendship makes me eternally happy. And not to spoil anything and be THAT person, but one of my favourite side characters comes back in this one and the banter is A++++. (I hope he gets his own series. Annette, if you see this, I’m pretty sure you know who I’m talking about so PLEASE!!!).
Let’s talk romance: HMM. Not gonna say much because... well there wasn’t much! Which is shocking. Marie’s romances are what I LIVE for. But I’m surprised with the way it went in this book and I’m eagerly looking forward to how things change!
These books are episodic but honestly you should just start from the beginning to avoid missing out. And also so you can experience just how much things seem to CHANGE with each book. I expected this series to be light and fun and hilarious—which is definitely is!—but it’s also growing bigger and darker and more dangerous and I am loving every. single. bit of it.
So! That being said—give me book 4! (Have y’all seen that cover? I’m starry eyed.) I need more of Tori’s narration ASAP. (...and to see where the romance might go because extreme eye emoji is happening.)

This is third in a UF series that builds character and story arcs over time. So I definitely recommend reading in order.
Again, you know about what you are getting with this one. I had a bit of a strain in the middle when Tori fell into some despair about losing her place with the guild and her friends. At this point, it's becoming a little tired and I made a deal with myself that if there wasn't some normalization of her status among mythics by the end, I'd rethink moving on to the next.
Fortunately, her status does get some normalization by the end, though, in true Crow & Hammer fashion it's sketchy and will likely generate scrutiny in the future. It's enough to appease my concern, though not so solid that Marie couldn't yank it if she wants to later. And I couldn't help feeling that the final confrontation in the end was manipulated by the author as well. At least, the part where . It felt like author trying to move things fast enough to keep the reader from asking "how the heck did he pull off that trick?"
So I was riding on a lower rating, despite some lovely character moments and bringing Zak into her circle of friendship, at least a little. But then the ending just tugged all my heartstrings and pushed it right back to a final four stars. And again, that's dependent on being content with the still-sketchy world-building and just going along with the fragmentary setup around the whole "mythics" designation.
A note about Chaste: I was worried about the relationships continuing on their holding pattern in this one. So I was happy that Marie put it out there in regards to the Aaron/Tori thing being "fun but not going anywhere". So by the end, we have Tori still single and not really seeing anyone. And I'm okay with that because, frankly, she's only just getting to a place where she's healthy-enough emotionally to be a full partner in something romantic. I'm good if it continues along those lines with keeping her guy-friends in friendship status. But it'd be interesting if something else developed later. Either way, there's no sex and nothing even a little sexy in this story so it's pretty chaste.

*cries* It's like this whole series is just a showcase of how stupid this girl can be and I want to hate her, but then she LEARNS HER GOD DAMN LESSON and I can't hate her! I've never been so conflicted about a series, actively liking it and also disliking it while I'm still reading it. Oh my god, am I hate-reading this?

I was over the moon excited to read Two Witches and a Whiskey early on because I have much curiosity and I hoped Annette Marie would give some insight???
Yeah, no, that didn't happen. It's safe to say that both Di from Book Reviews by Di and I have even more questions after devouring the third book in The Guild Codex: Spellbound series.
As usual, we have a new adventure.
The greatest part of this entire series is each book having its own plot in addition to the overall plot in the series, so there's never really a cliffhanger.
Two Witches and a Whiskey continues to follow Tori as she navigates the Mystic world, continuing her friendships among the Crow and Hammer guild that readers are introduced to in Three Mages and a Margarita . In the third novel of The Guild Codex: Spellbound series, Tori accidentally gets her friends involved in dealing with a fae lord.
Plus we get some returning characters from Dark Arts and a Daiquiri ! (My fangirl heart can't take it, ahhh.)
Internal Struggles™ with Tori
As much Tori loves hanging out with the Mythic community and her close circle of friends with Aaron, Ezra and Kai, we continue to see Tori struggling internally. The Crow and Hammer guild appreciates and values her and treats her as though she is a member. However, because she is human, there is always the thought that at any moment, she could be taken away from the world and continue with her life the way before meeting the Mythics. Tori is constantly wanting to fit in with the other members throughout the series, and this continues with the third book.
Character development and relationships!
I absolutely adore the relationships between the characters and have been since the first book. It's really clear how close Aaron, Ezra and Kai are with their interactions despite the varying differences between their personalities. While most of the story focuses on Tori, we get some insight into Kai and Ezra as well.
There is also much character development that continues to happen in Two Witches and a Whiskey with Tori. We see the others helping her come to terms of accepting that they won't abandon her after all the memories that have been created in the short time they've been together.
Words can't express my excitement, omg.
Y'ALLLLL I had trouble writing a coherent review without screaming GO READ THIS SERIES RIGHT NOW. Two Witches and a Whiskey is a fast-paced novel and I loved every moment we get with Tori as she continues to cause shenanigans and works her way through it like a professional™.

Two Witches and a Whiskey was an absolute treat. Based on my reactions to the previous installments, it surprised me with how good it was
Mostly because I couldn't bring myself to like Tori at all. But I think she managed to win over me in this book.
I saw a lot of improvement in her and felt like the author finally did justice to how her character was sketched - strong, smart, witty, snarky in a much more realistic way.
Before, I always felt like her character was very surface level, with these adjectives just thrown at her without depth. She would do things just because they would fit in the bracket of her 'badass character' but it would often be dumb and unrealistic.
But I didn't really face that problem this time. In fact, quite enjoyed her character. And I love how funny she is. I have saved all the funny bits of her narration on my kindle because imma gonna steal them for myself to sound cooler around people.
The plot was fantastic. I didn't feel bored even for a second. It was fast-paced and laced with urgency, action, and yes a lot of male hotness.
Talking about the male hotness, I have said this before also in my old reviews and I stand by it, I love these boys so much. Each. One. Of. Them.
We got a little peek of Kai's family and history but that was barely anything and it left me wanting for more.
I need more information because not knowing is absolutely killing me.
Going on to romance, there wasn't much of it but like there was a much-needed closure on certain things. I love Aaron but I never really saw him with Tori. If I have to pick, it would either be Ezra or Zak. But so far, there has barely been any indication.
Ezra seems to have a teeny tiny crush on Tori though.

I don't really see Kai and Tori together but I really want to know his backstory and I would love to see the mysterious and calculated Kai flustered over a girl.
I liked the ended but it also made me sad But I hope we get to see more of him in upcoming books.

I’ve heard a lot of good things about the Guild Codex World and so, I’m excited to participate in the 2026 Read-Along. My original thoughts still apply. The 'why mes' with Tori got tiering to listen too. The hot and cold with Aaron’s feelings is frustrating. Other then that this one ups the stacks and brings loads of fast-paced action.

I want it now and not later. Okay, I finished reading this book on Friday night and i love it. It was so cool. Tori's life is fucking interesting as hell. This book is one of my favorites in the series so far. I felt that is needs to have many and many books to keep us within this world.

not bad! Kai got a bit more of a personality so i was happy, and a ship that i wasn't really vibing with finally broke up. all up a good book, especially with my babe Zak in here! onto the next one ;)

The story was good, but Tori is really annoying. I prefer the demon series set in the same world but decided to continue this series for its tie-in and cross over to the other series.

Book three of the series starts with a surprise visit from the magical feds. Within the first 30 minutes we find ourselves trapped between a rock and a hard place. The witches are trying to bind a Fae Lord and the Feds are closing in on the guild. Most of all, the crew is separated and must work closely while not actually together.
I really enjoy this series. Though it seems to be following a reverse harem set up, it hasn't gone completely in that direction. I do like that the love interest have stayed open. It allows us not to become too attached to any given Male. I'd prefer that she didnt date any of the main characters. Break that mold of girls having to fall for their friends. We are capable of having Male friends without always wanting something romantic.
There were a few eye-rolling moments when it came to Tori's decision making. It felt a bit off character. At least the Tori character that's been developing in the first few books wouldn't react to things as the Tori in this book. Where she was once brave and self sufficient this book shows a needy and whiny side of her personality. Even though the series starts off with her rooming with her brother, she was still independent and paying her way. In this book she feels that she NEEDS the guys and cant seem to focus.
Other than the set back in Tori's personality I found the book enjoyable enough but not at good as the first. I do like that we get more background information of the guys and that it seems legit. The author gives us believable information that doesn't seemed forced.
The narrator, Chris Dukehart, does a good job. My favorite voice of hers is Twiggy. The "Slap Back" scene really made me laugh... "Cause its funny!" 🤣😂

With every new book in this series Annette Marie seems to outdo herself! Every book that I've read so far becomes a favorite after I finish it!
This was the most action-packed and fast-paced adventure yet! That was probably due to the circumstances Tori found herself in but it was amazing none the less! Tori continues to be her snarky and sassy self in this story. She also has an astonishing amount of things go wrong and work in her favor at the same time. I also loved how she's finally found her second family!
The guys were awesome as always! Zak still stood out in this novel even with everything that was going on. He's growing on me. I hope we see him in a future novel. I'm still firmly on team Erza. I just want to know more about him and his secrets. We've gotten to know all the other guys in different ways. Erza needs his turn!
I loved the ending! I also loved how the author finally made Tori kinda-sorta official (I can't say more than that because it's a huge spoiler). I also laughed out loud when the Zak plot twist was revealed! I can't wait for their next adventure!
The Audio Book:
The narrator did a good job overall! There were a few voices that started to blend into one another in the end but it was fine. She has a nice range of voices but her male voices don't go as deep as I would like them to.

Another adventurous journey of Tori. This one will reveal more of some character's past and peel another layer of Tori's insecurity. I have fun reading their story even there's no romance but I know Tori needs to grow out of her insecurity first. What else here? Oh, when Tori's wish comes true!!!!

This one was great, though I'm getting a little tired of MagiPol. But I loved that we got to spend lots of time with our mage boys, and with Zak. I loved that we found some equilibrium there. And I really loved seeing Tori's situation evolve.
I'm just burning through this series. Can't stop!

Time for the 2026 read-a-long over at Books of My Heart
It is starting a little earlier than 2026 but I'm excited to read all the books in this world in order this time!
It is amazing that Tori, who is basically a muggle, ends up in all kinds of magical trouble.
The MPD (magical police department) is looking for Tori after some of the events of the prior book. They don't know who she so to keep the Guild and Tori out of trouble they send her home to lay low and wait it out. The only thing isn't really good at laying low and she starts freaking out that she has just lost all of her new friends. Freaking out leads to drinking and cleaning and accidentally getting roped into helping two Witches with a job/problem no other guild would take. The "job" is much more dangerous than Tori was ready for and she is going to need some help from a very sexy druid.
I'm enjoying this series. I like the characters, I like that while there are some pretty large potential love interests, that is not the focus of the story at all and this never turns into a reverse harem soap opera situation. I am having so much fun with Tori's irreverent behavior towards the Crystal Druid and all of the texted insults. I think his character is so interesting and can't wait to see if he is going to take the lead in the love interest race eventually.
The side characters are kinda hilarious. Twiggy watching TV and trying to understand humans and just not getting it, is pretty hilarious.
The guys are great too! I loved getting some more backstory for Kia and Ezra, there were a few surprises there that could be a lot of fun going forward. The will they won't they drama with Aaron is hashed out and will say I'm pretty satisfied with that part of the story.
There are parts of this book that were a little difficult as Tori deals with some of her fears about losing all her new friends and being sad that she doesn't have magic. She just wants to be special and find a place in this new world she accidentally discovered. I totally get that. I did love Zak and his take on Tori's situation.
The bad guys were bad with a capitol B. I enjoyed the overall plot arc and how Tori played her role in it. Adding a Leviathan to the list of cool creatures/fae was a nice touch too. Looking forward to continuing the series with the read along.

This iteration of The Guild Codex: Spellbound series finds (I can’t make up my mind about which hot guy I like) Tori, becoming involved with a Faye Sea Creature of enormous power as she and her 3 mage friends attempt to break up a black magic group’s attempt to usurp the Faye’s power and use it for their own black magic operations. Tori and the “guys” do their best to try and stop this from happening. Tori also develops some new Faye friends and there is a appearance from Zack, “The Ghost” who is a central character in the previous book (and is a very attractive Druid).
I know the summary makes this book sound trite, but the Mages, Tori, her witch friend Sin and the other myriad of characters really do work well and make for a entertaining plot line. The character motivations and attachments in this book were, in part, developed in the 2 previous books, and they continue to grow in this third installment.
This is really good urban fantasy, and for me, this particular series (The Guild Codex: Spellbound ) continues to improve with each book, and this one is my favorite so far. This is escapist fantasy with well defined characters, attractive mages, an equally attractive “ghost”, interesting magical side characters and a great familiar or two.
If you like urban fantasy you could do a lot worse than to latch on to this series.

I’m continuing to enjoy this series about a human barmaid named Tori who mistakenly enters into the supernatural world that coexists with humans, but is unknown to humans. They not only take her in, but they(most of them)embrace her, although it’s not without its challenges. For the first time in a really long time she is happy with her life. She just wishes she could be magical like all her friends are. She manages to get involved in all sorts of supernatural messes, gets a “familiar” or two and this time she makes a mistake of trusting a couple of witches. She crosses paths with an evil dragon fae and gets involved again with the character called The Ghost-not because he’s dead but because no one knows who he is or what he looks like. But Tori does. Her three best friends are male mages with different magical abilities. One she is kinda dating, but there’s another I think will win her heart eventually. Super slow burn. It all just makes for a super fun book and series. Recommended to paranormal and urban fantasy readers.
