Seriously?!?

The female MC is TSTL. The premise of the MC’s relationship is not at all believable, and they spend an extremely small time together during the entire story. This had potential at first, but that blew up when she began to show her stupidity. It got worse when a peripheral character we know from other books made a decision that was beyond uncharacteristic for him. I wound up wishing I had skipped this one, but finished it out of sheer stubbornness and the vain hope that it would somehow get better.

This is starting off as a good series. There's the normal undertone of the Stoker characters, if not a bit rushed. The set up was good and well worked out. Maybe the LAFS is what makes it feel rushed, and I'm not criticizing that aspect of it.

The communication with command and the team was a little choppy I guess. I eel like the team leader knowing about Tex and Megan's involvement with Rafe and how mission went on as scheduled seemed strange, but it all worked.

Cute

Rafe and Meghan meet at the airport and it's off from there - who would think that being stranded together would lead to where he has to rescue her on the other side of the world.

I really struggled with writing this review. I'm a firm believer in only saying something nice. The writing is good, there weren't any typos or language errors. The main part of the story line was interesting. The problem you run into with fan fiction is that the borrowed characters act differently than they were originally written. That's the case with this book, to the point that anyone who's read the original works will be disappointed. Another issue is the main female character falls short of the authors intention to make her a strong woman. She falls squarely in the too stupid to live category.

DNF. There is absolutely no way that Tex would support or aid in that. I stopped during that phone call. This is not Tex. Not at all. Therefore cannot continue with this... soz.

Lynne St. James penned a captivating military romance with SEAL’s Spitfire.
In this romantic suspense, Ms. James chronicles the romantic journey of Meghan Henley and Rafe Buchanan. She is a journalist for a local newspaper stuck in the stereotypical assignment for a woman journalist—obituaries and society page. He is a Navy SEAL. Destiny brings them together as they are both flying home to their respective families are are delayed due to mechanical problems. They are immediately attracted to each other. At the end of their extended delay, they exchange phone numbers and a passionate kiss. Enjoying time with family they are both called away due the a kidnapping of missionaries in Afghanistan. For Rafe it is job to rescue Americans in precarious military situations For Meghan, after getting the round around regarding her kidnapped brother, Charlie, she sets out on her own with the help of John “Tex” Keegan. Will Rafe and Meghan’s path collide? Will they both return safely home? What about Charlie? What about the SEAL team’s mission? To find out what transpires, you must read this book.

This is a well-written fast-paced romantic suspense story. It is my first-time reading Ms. James’ work. She did an outstanding job crafting dynamic primary and secondary characters. I enjoyed the chemistry between the lead characters as well as among the SEAL team brothers and Meghan and her sister, Lizzie. Ms. James showcases the SEAL team’s camaraderie revealing their bond as more than that of a military team, but, more one as a family. Readers get further evidence of this through their banter. I appreciate how she includes one of Susan Stoker’s supporting characters, John “Tex” Keegan in this story. I liked that in the opening pages at the start of the book, Ms. Stoker explains their agreement relative to this inclusion. I am looking forward to reading the other books in this series.

SEAL’s Spitfire: Special Forces Alpha: Black Eagle Book 1 is by Lynne St. James. This is a easy to read, adventure series that is easy to read and keeps your attention. It makes for great Sunday read.
Navy SEAL Rafe Buchanan is stuck at the Norfork airport. He is on his way to Oregon to see his sister and her boys. He is people watching as it turns out their flight isn’t going that night. He hears a comment from the lady sitting near him that causes him to react. He reacts to what she said and they start talking. Reporter Megan Henley is trying to get home to Atlanta. While at dinner, she sees a newscast about a group of missionaries were kidnapped in Afghanistan. She is afraid her brother, Charlie, is among them. For Meghan Henley being stranded at the airport while awaiting a new flight to Atlanta. While cursing her luck and the airlines out loud, she is overheard and called on it. Rafe Buchanan is a NAVY SEAL who is also a passenger on the ill-fated flight to Atlanta. He overhears Meghan cursing a blue streak and decides to approach her. That is how it all began, love at first sight almost immediately for him but it took her a bit of time. They spend more than 7 hours together as they await a new flight and travel to Atlanta once a new plane is ready. In that time they talk and have dinner and she learns that her missionary brother is taken hostage in Afghanistan. Rafe has connections and he wants to help Meghan so he contacts Tex for information. Eventually, Rafe is sent to rescue the missionaries but finds out that Tex has helped Meghan get into the country to interview the bad guy and plead for her brother's life and that of the hostages. Things go haywire and Meghan is taken but Tex is tracking her.

This was the first story that I have read of Ms. St. James. I chose this series to read first because I have read and loved Susan Soker's novels with Tex in them. Ms. St. James did a good job here. I know other reviewers complained that Tex was out of character for helping Meghan but Meghan would have gone with or without his help. He was looking out for her where she should have had no one had she gone alone. Rafe and his team would not have known where to rescue her from if Tex hadn't helped.

This was a faced paced story full of action and had just the right amount of sexiness to it. Yes, love hit Rafe fast and hard but that seems to be the SEAL way as they live fast and furious. I will be reading more by this author.

“SEAL’S Spitfire” Special Forces: Operation Alpha - Black Eagle 1 by Lynne St. James

**Spoiler Alert**

Miranda is done waiting… Airports suck balls but how can she complain? She is on vacation and on her way to see her family.

Rafe is finally on a break and he gets to see his sister and the kids again. It’s been a long time coming and finally the downtime has allowed for the much needed trip. Being stuck at the airport could have been worse if it wasn’t for the little Spitfire in front of him. Damn does she have mouth on her with all the right curves….

This tall dark drink of hotness has just made this wait bearable. Going for dinner doesn’t sound like a bad idea… does it? A news broadcast brings her to her knees but Rafe is there to catch her.

Rafe is all but drooling over this beauty but then tragedy strikes and he can see she is about to lose it. He needs to do something but then she surprises him by proving that she will not let this get her down. Her willpower and strength consumes him. She is everything he ever wanted in a woman.

This is the first book I have read by this author and I enjoyed it very much. I was not so sure about them falling in love so quickly but they say, when you have met your soulmate you will know and it will be love at first site. They didn’t get to spend much time together but their love was strong enough to endure the long separation.

The story is action packed with a lot of sass. The things Miranda had to do to save her brother… Would you do that? I would! Great character build up and a great read.

Marie's Tempting Reads ARC Review:

I am LOVING this new Black Eagle series from Lynne St. James! Romantic, exciting, suspenseful and sexy, the story owned my heart from the first few lines!

I have enjoyed and loved everything from Miss St. James from the very beginning but there is something extra special and seductive about her military heroes. And Rafe, oh this particular hero made my heart swoon and sigh! He is the epitome of a hero: sexy, protective, caring and flirty. He had my heart melting and made me crave him. And Meghan, she is a definite spitfire! Sassy, beautiful and ferocious and stubborn, I couldn't help but to admire and adore her. This romance had so much great action and danger as well as some sigh worthy romance with some downright appealing characters. And of course we get to see Tex again from Susan Stoker's world. I feel so complete and happy after reading this book. I am excited to read more in this series and hope it lasts for a long time.

SEAL's Spitfire gets a MUST READ FOR SURE FIVE GRAND STARS!

Lifestyle reporter Meghan Henley wasn’t shy about sharing her annoyance over the flight delay. Seated nearby, SEAL Rafe Buchanan nicknamed her Spitfire in his head, and the unexpected two-way electricity in the air after a mutual glance changed to something else when a TV news report related Meghan’s brother’s missionary group had been captured.

Confessing the feelings between them, Rafe and Meghan exchange number before Rafe reaches out to get information about the capture. With an immediate upcoming mission, Rafe puts Meghan in position to get information while he’s out of touch. Not only does Meghan make good use of it, she decides she night, at least be able to ensure her brother’s life.

Another fan fic series from Susan Stoker’s rich SEAL world. The hurried romance was a bit too rushed but the other pieces and all the characters worked well to this reader’s taste. Well, except the untrained, unprepared lifestyle reporter going in to perform the rescue.

4 Spitfire Stars🌟

This is probably only my second book by this author but I like her style of writing as it is similar to a few others I read which makes it easy to read and feels fast paced😁

Rafe is about to go visit his sister and her kids when he meets a woman in the airport soon after they discover their plane has been delayed. Liking her instantly, he asks her to dinner and she agrees. Meghan doesn’t know what it is about Rafe but he feels different to other guys and so she agrees. Unfortunately, at dinner she hears a news report indicating missionaries that have been kidnapped and she knows immediately that her brother is one of the hostages😢

I enjoyed the story, it was a little too insta-love for me but I still enjoyed the overall plot and characters and will start the next book as soon as I can❣️

Seal's Spitfire

What an intriguing love at first sight story this is. Who knew that getting stranded at an airport would bring you the love of your life. This is what happened with Rafe and Meghan. They met at an airport when their flight was delayed by mechanical problems. Then Meghan finds out her brother and his group he was with were kidnapped. I loved seeing Tex and Melody help out these two. Once Rafe's team were able to rescue the kidnapped group and Meghan, since she decided she couldn't wait for people to rescue her brother. She took matters into her own hands and promptly got kidnapped herself. Once the group was rescued and Meghan on the mend, these two finally started their happily ever after. I am happy for them. Great job Lynne! I would recommend this book.

I am a big fan of Lynne St James’ stories and the ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Seal’s Spitfire is no different. I love the meet-cute, a man spotting a woman when she is at her most flustered and still finding her attractive, not just beautiful, but grumpy and in dire need of caffeination. Not all heroines are delicate and graceful, they snark and mutter under their breaths. This was certainly refreshing.
I am grateful that Ms. St James does not hold back on the gore of war, the stark realities are made clear to Meghan on her journey to save her brother.
This story is well written and an excellent addition to Susan Stoker’s Special Forces: Operation Alpha Series.

Beautiful!

Anyway you look at it, this story is beautiful. It was beautifully written with love, understanding, drama, and love. Mostly new characters but Tex, the computer genius is here. You have a hero out to win his love and save her and other hostages from terrorists. You have the heroine, who wants to rescue her brother and other hostages while she comes to the conclusion that our hero is her true love. A beautiful story, with all the elements. Very little sexual content. I loved this. It reads quickly. Once you start it, you're a dinner until you finish it. It's that good.

While I liked the book it's a bit over the top. Rafe and Meghan are stuck at the airport and are attracted to each other. Then she finds out her brother has been kidnapped by the Taliban. Rafe's SEAL team is sent to retrieve the high value hostage i.e. not her brother. Meghan an aspiring journalist decides to go after her brother. No skills, not actually a serious journalist (although not for lacking of trying). Thankfully Tex from Susan Stoker's series makes an appearance to lend support. Rafe and Meghan are good characters which also helps but I still can't give it 3 stars.

I liked how Rafe & Meghan meet. They strike of a friendly conversation fueled by an intense attraction to one another. However when Meghan learns her brother is kidnapped in Afghanistan she must come up with a plan to help him. Little does she know that Rafe who is a seal is on his way to save him and others. Meghan comes up with a plan to go save her brother but somehow she is taken herself. The story never had a dull moment. It was intense, thrilling, and Rafe & Meghan were great. Another amazing story and a great start to a new series. I look forward to more!

GREAT SUSPENSE ADVENTURE

What an intense read. Once you start, you will be compelled to keep reading until you reach the end. Two people meet in an airport and once they start to communicate their destiny is sealed. There is an immediate attraction. He is a Seal and she is a journalist aspiring to write and investigate articles that are news worthy. Unfortunately they have to separate to fulfill obligations. He was recalled back to base for a mission. When she learns her brother has been kidnapped, she makes plans to rescue him.

Life does change us

Becoming a prisoner of terrorist is sure to change even a strong person's perspective. And love at first sight is real if we allow it.
I do have to complain about the poor editing. I read the next book in this series first and it is as bad. These books are worse than the dime story paper backs from 30 plus years ago. With the technology available today, there is no reason for such poor quality. I would think that not only the author, but Ms. Stoker herself would demand better. These are important issues being dealt with even if it is a fictitious romance.

It's an enjoyable story even if the heroine is too stupid to live. What person in their right mind goes into a known terrorist hotspot trying to rescue a hostage when they have no training or skills to do so? If you can get over that bit of stupidity, the story is entertaining. I liked the characters and they were well written. The author gives the main characters an extended family which I haven't really seen a whole lot in this type of book (they mostly center on the team and the team friendships).

This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the first book in the Black Eagle series. I really loved the beginning of this book, and I found the beginning to be so cute. I also love that we get to know a little bit about each of the main characters families. I was not a big fan of the insta-love that happens in this book, but I know that happens a lot in military romantic suspense books. I found the romance to be cute and cheesy, but I liked the cute and cheesy... LOL. The suspense and action was what I wanted in a Romantic Suspense. I found the ending to be great, and I really loved it.

Spitfire? More like misfire...
Meh… what a disappointment.
I DNF’d at 75%—I really, really tried to give this book a fair shot, especially since it features “Tex” from Susan Stoker’s books. But I just couldn’t push through.

My tolerance for silly and naïve heroines is actually pretty high, but Meghan, the heroine in this story, pushed it way too far. “Too stupid to live” doesn’t even begin to cover it.

Sorry, but this book doesn't come close to capturing the awesomeness of Susan Stoker’s world or writing.

Finding love happens when you least expect it. Also, when you need it. At an airport with a Navy SEAL doesn’t hurt either. Rafe knows Meghan is “the one” at first sight. He is strong, hot, smart hot, and dependable. Whenever Meghan needs him the most, he is there for her. He is exactly what a woman wants in a man. This book is action pact and doesn’t rely on sex to tell a great romance story.

A pretty easy read to while away a day. Sexy Seal, headstrong reporter, love at first sight or swear word! I liked Rafe & I liked Meghan, there was action & adventure, the only slight jar was Meghan’s move in going to Afghanistan and you have to suspend belief slightly that she ever thought she was going to achieve anything! Having said that I enjoyed it and have great expectations for the rest of Rafe’s team!

Good start...

This was a good start to the series. I enjoyed the story and lots of action but the love at first sight theme was hard to buying to. I think this author is entertaining but I'd like to see her go a little.more I depth with her characters and story line. I'll probably buy more of her books and I will recommend a try just know that it is a very easy read that is good but just not great!

Insta-love meets the war in Afghanistan. There was a moment of TSTL, but Meghan understood, after a while, how silly and dangerous it was to undertake that mission. It makes the HEA almost anticlimactic, but it also gives the reader a good feeling. Rafe has waited too long for her and he wasn't going to lose her that quickly. It was good that the author gave him a few moments of humanity, including losing focus for a moment during the rescue - even SEALs are human, I guess.

These Seal stories are so interesting to read. The characters, both male and female are very strong in one sense, yet have their own weaknesses. A flight delay changes some peoples lives and this one brings Meghan and Rafe together. This begins the adventure of intense situations from fear to love. I love how the author describes the characters and what they are going through. Once you start reading these, you wont want to stop

well I thought the book enjoyable and liked the characters. Fictional books are escape from everyday worries if I want everything factual, I read those types of books.

Just a wee p.s.

The love at first sight is a reality some people are lucky to experience, and I and my husband can be counted among them, we knew we were going to marry on the night we met, and 43 years later we are still enjoying life together.

Hope you all find your forever partner.
