"By being yourself, you put something wonderful in the world that was not there before." ― Edwin Elliot
This stunning keepsake book pampers every girl's princess fantasies, yet gently reminds us that it is more important to be kind and to be yourself.
Little elephant Bina Trunk wants to be a Princess.
But while she's focused on herself, she forgets to show kindness to others.
When Bina misses some silly, messy fun with her friends, she realizes she would rather be a helpful, kind elephant than a princess. She stays true to herself, loyal to her family, and figures out that everyone is special, not just princesses.
Rhyme and repetition engage young readers while demonstrating the importance of following one's own heart.
Young children will be mesmerized by the beautiful illustrations and relate to the silly and memorable elephant characters!
A cute story for children. I loved the beautiful illustrations a lot. It was good that the author has chosen elephants for the story instead of humans.
A Royal Story about what it really means to be a princess
This is an adorable book about a young elephant who dreams of becoming a royal princess. It is a lot of fun...until she begins to neglect her family and friends wishes and what they ask her to do. Suddenly, being a princess feels lonely. Read this book to find out what it takes to be a real princess: the gift of helping and being kind to others. And being happy with who you are, "royal" or not. After all, we are all royal in our own ways!
A lovely book about Bina the Elephant and the realization that being a princess is not quite as fun as being yourself. A fun story highlighting the importance of family and friendship with amazing illustrations.
This is a great book for kids to learn sbout the consequences of their actions and how to learn and grow from them. My daughter adores the images and likes trying to tell me the story 😊
Beautiful story! Well written! Wonderful illustrations! This is a delightful story with a sweet lesson. It will most certainly be loved and adored by many little ones.
Babu and Bina books offer beautiful illustrations and relatable stories children love. In Princess for a Day, Bina discovers dressing up is fun, but being herself is even better. Five stars.
The story has a moral. It's alright to think of being royal, having nice things. But one should not forget basic values like being kind and helpful. Bina trunk finally realised her mistake and corrected herself.
One day Bina Trunk, a young elephant, sat watching a TV show in which an elephant was playing a princess. Bina loved the rhyme asking all to bow down before the princess. Bina immediately rummaged through an old trunk and found a princess costume to wear. She dressed in it and went down to breakfast. At first, her parents and brother, Babu, played along with her game. But when Bina left to visit her grandparents, she told them she was a princess and couldn’t comply with their requests to water the garden and rearrange the books on the shelves of the laboratory.
Bina and her brother come across their friends Hari and Honey Hippo, who go along with the pretend game for a while. But when Babu and his Hippo friends begin playing in the mud, Bina desperately wants to join in the fun. Will she relinquish her crown and go back to leading the life of a young elephant with her friends?
This is a cute tale that teachers preschool and primary grade child that it is fun to pretend at times, but we should not forget who we really are and how to treat our family and friends with kindness and fairness.
All great - the story, the moral, the illustrations
My daughter and I enjoyed Princess for a Day. Bina, the little elephant, is cute and memorable. The lesson is easy to take to heart, the story is fun, and the illustrations are beautiful. Five stars!
The latest installment in the Babu and Bina series of picture books finds young elephant Bina imagining her life if she were Princess Bina. While the greatness of her royal self is gratifying to her, she gradually learns that she has far more fun if she's just Bina, a girl who helps her grandparents and plays with her friends.
This is a delightful picture book that asks children to contemplate the benefits of just being yourself. This is an accessible installment in the Babu and Bina children series, a colorfully-illustrated picture book series for young readers.
I received a Digital Review Copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Pragya Tomar delivers a wonderful story of a young elephant named Bina Trunk who decides to be a princess rather than just an ordinary elephant in "Princess For A Day: A book about kindness." Bina realizes that being a princess interferes with her fun time with friends and meaningful time with grandparents. She faces a tough decision to either stay a princess or be just an ordinary elephant. This story does a great job of providing decision making situations and how consequences play a role in the future. Overall, this is a great story for young children in the 3 to 5 age range. The illustrations are also well done and attractive. 5 out of 5 stars
Any little princess would love this story! It has great kid appeal! The soft palette chosen for the art is very nice! Bina and Babu experience problems like any kids—or kid elephants, and work their way to a solution of kindness. Although any child would enjoy the story, I think this will hold special appeal for children who dream of royalty!
As important as it is for children to dream, even adults to dream, it is just as important to collaborate and work as a team. Bina found out that while she was being honored because she was loved, she was left out of the fun because she was "above" the work. She realized it is a lonely way to be. This book would go with a conversation about what it is to be a team player.
Books like this are so informational for children and hold such a wealth of knowledge. I really enjoy reading books, like this one and many others to my children, for if you start them young then they will grow to have a love for reading and adventure!
Sweet book teaching children that it’s better and more fun to just be yourself and be kind. Looking forward to additional offerings from this author and illustrator
I love the illustrations they are so cute plus I love elephants! The story had a great message I think all parents should read to their kids! Great job!
The little elephant Bina Trunk hopes to one day be a Princess. The next morning, she found her mother’s trunk full of stuff she could dress up with like a Princess. A red scarf, crown & glitter shoes completed Bina’s outfit. At breakfast she presented herself new self to Daddy (husband), Mama (wife), & Babu Trunk (son/brother). Babu, & Bina walked to Grandma Trunk’s tea shop. Next the 2 of them went to see Grandma Trunk in his lab. Bina wanted him to build a rocket ship so she could fly to the moon. He wanted her to try out his new robotic wings. Amazing she could fly. Hari Hippo, & Honey Hippo played with Babu. They all got muddy & then hosed off. What fun they had. Once again Bina couldn’t play because she was a Princess. What happened to Bina after that?
I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.
A very awesome book cover, great colored pictures & proper font & writing style. A very well written children’s elephant adventure story book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great children’s elephant adventure movie, an animated cartoon, PP presentation, or better yet a mini TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is a very easy rating of 5 stars.

Princess for a Day is a picture book by Pragya Tomar, and illustrated by Giulia Iacopini. It features the story of Bina Trunk, an elephant who is inspired to dress up as a princess. All day, she talks to people, who treat her with kindness. Though, in return, she isn’t very nice to them. But by the end of the day, she finds out that it’s not too late to help them.
It’s a nice theme for a story. It’s interesting that we see Bina request that people bow to her, and I appreciate that she later learns how to give people more respect. It’s one of those stories where she receives respect, but needs to learn how to give respect back. It’s nice to see that she later goes back and helps those who needed it. I think it might help kids realise how they act towards others, and to reconsider whether their behaviour is positive or negative. The author has written it very well, and the messaging is very understandable, in my opinion.
The illustrations are absolutely beautiful. There are so many wonderful colours used. Every scene is full of fun and all sorts of wonderful sights to see. One of my favourite settings was to see all the books the kids are helping reorganise with Grandpa Trunk.
Overall, it’s definitely worth a read. And I’m sure a lot of kids can learn a thing or two from the book. Both the author and illustrator have done great work on it.
Princess for a Day is a beautiful book about Bina, an elephant who decides to be a princess for the day but discovers that maybe it's more fun to be herself and kind to those around her instead.
This is a fantastic book as we get to see Bina change but she recognises the difference in herself and tries to put it right. This is the best kind of character for the children to see as it's something they should aspire to be. I like that although Bina is not being the kindest throughout the book, her family leave her be for the day until she works it out herself as this shows that she really does care and want the best for her and her family.
The illustrations are gorgeous and very pretty for the children to look at. It is nice to see Bina as a princess and going about her day but I like that there was also the contrast of when she decided against being a princess, it was great to see the emotion on her face as it helped the children understand how she was feeling.
We have really enjoyed reading this book and seeing that whilst it's fun to be someone else for the day it's still always important to be kind and happy with who you are, a beautiful story of kindness and staying true to who you are!
Bina Trunk was watching a tv show about a Princess. The next morning she made herself a Princess outfit. Ma Trunk, Pa Trunk, and her brother were waiting for breakfast. She told them she was a princess and they must bow to her. They did. Her and her brother went to see Grandma Trunk. She told her she was a Princess and she must bow to her and she did. Grandma gave her a milk cake. She went to see Grandpa Trunk. What happened for the rest of the day? Did everyone bow to her? Do Princesses play? Do Princesses get dirty? You get the most exciting thing to do, listen/read the rest of the book. The links to the other books work. The illustrations are terrific. The story will keep your kiddo flipping those pages wondering, ' Will Every one bow to her? Would people bow to me?' I found this book on a Kindle Unlimited website and so can you.
Sweet, delightful story about a little elephant Princess who thought it would be great to be a Princess, but as her day wore on, she realized that acting like a Princess and being all sparkly and shiny and clean is actually not much fun. She also realized that to be really liked by others, it was her responsibility to be kind. I found it a little long for our 2-4 year old Princess granddaughters.
Super cute! Bina watches a television show and wishes to be a princess. She learns a valuable lesson about kindness and being true to yourself. The book has a good storyline and fun East Indian inspired illustrations. 👑 💕 🎉
