Tawny Summers has her retirement all planned out: catch up on her books, work on her garden, and teach piano lessons to children in the sleepy town of Green Valley.
Her plan doesn’t include a gorgeous city billionaire with piercing silver eyes who is determined to upend her quiet life and frighten her cats.
Lion shifter Damien Powell gave his family up for hopelessly broken decades ago. Now he finds himself drawn to a tiny country town to try to mend fences with his son and build a relationship with his precocious lion shifter grandson… and meets his mate at the worst party of his life.
Suddenly, he’s faced with book clubs and nosy neighbors instead of board rooms and lawsuits, and stubborn, set-in-her-ways Tawny refuses his gifts and challenges his expectations at every turn.
Can a city lion find a home with a country spinster? Can he convince her that it’s not too late for true love?
DANDELION SEASON is a heartwarming, hot, and humorous story of second chances and silver foxes… er… lions. If you’re looking for a sweet, steamy standalone with a guaranteed happy ever after and no cliffhangers, one-click today and fall in love with the tiny town of Green Valley.
Elva Birch is an author of the impossible and irresistible. She is a fire dragon Gemini living in Alaska who belly dances outside at twenty below in the winter and loves to find tiny fairy moss worlds in the summer with her camera.
Elva also writes SHIFTING SANDS RESORT, GREEN VALLEY SHIFTERS, and FAE SHIFTER KNIGHTS as Zoe Chant.
The book is not bad, the cover art is really bad. The woman on cover is in her 80s, not mid-60s as told in book. Man on cover is accurate as to book description, but would be woman (on cover's) son, not lover. Yuck.
Nothing wrong with people of either age range falling in love--but closer to own age please. 20ish age difference not possible to suspend disbelief.
My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!! ***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I received a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book! I buy most of Zoe Chant’s books because I love her HEAs and her style of writing! I have bought this book too!
The cover is peaceful and fun.
This is the 3rd book in the Green Valley Shifters series. It is for adults only due to the steamy content involving mates. I recommend reading all the stories in order because there are references made to the other characters and events that occurred in those books….not to mention this is the father of Shaun from the last book.
I loved this story because it still had Shaun and Trevor in it, and Trevor makes the story better with his shifting antics and vibrant way of life for a little boy! Damien is a lion shifter and when he comes to visit his son in Green Valley, he meets his mate, Tawny who is the retiring mail carrier of Green Valley. This story doesn’t have action as much as drama that comes with dating, shifters, and mates. It was a feel good story that I enjoyed reading. Trevor always makes this series come alive, and he didn’t disappoint in this story either.
I highly recommend to all Green Valley fans and shifter fans who love shifter communities and mates!
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest! It was a great book! Tawny was ready for her retirement. She had all planned out. Damien came to Green Valley to reconnect with his son + grandson. He did not expect to find his mate as well. Both of them did not know what to make of this new development. Love at their age? Why not ? Anything is possible. Loved the characters + the storytelling! It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book! I can't wait for the next book in this series.
Very cute over-60 romance about a retired, quirky mail carrier and a cynical billionaire lion shifter. I wish it hadn't chosen to fade-to-black, but still enjoyable and sweet.
This is a fun story about a billionaire and a lovely lady. To impress her, after knowing her one day, he gifts her with a diamond ring. On day two, he buys her a car. Oh, and she doesn't know he's a lion shifter and she is his mate. I only hope this series continues because it's so fun to read.
Tawny has retired from her job as a mail carrier and that day she meets Lion shifter alpha male Damien. And all the adorableness and sexiness follows. She never thought shed be anything but an old maid. But with Damien she will know more.love than she ever thought she could deserve.
This may be my favorite Zoe Chant book to date. It's got a wonderfully warm story that had me smiling and laughing through much of it. The characters are older than many of these books, retirement age, and going along with them as they work their way through their differences is just fun! This is one that I definitely recommend.
My favorite of the Green Valley Shifter stories so far (I've read 3 of the 4 out so far). Opposites attract with a senior shifter and a retired human. Sometimes it just takes a while to find your fated mate!
Continuing in the Green Valley community, we now have Shaun's father Damien (H), a lion shifter, in town to visit his estranged son. For someone who's never believed in fated mates, he's thrown for a loop when he recognizes his in Tawny (h), a recently retired postal carrier in town. An opposites attract, city mouse (well, lion)-country mouse story, as Damien tries to convince Tawny that what he feels isn't just a fling.
I just really enjoyed this one. It's light and fluffy, but the story flows well. A lot of their conflict comes from their different personalities and (to throw some psychology and counseling terms in there), their different love languages. He tries to woo her with expensive gifts, and she throws him out on his tail for 'trying to buy her.' He's a bit high handed and arrogant to start, but he mellows well through the book. I loved seeing them both trying to meet the other in the middle - him at her book club, her at his city functions. So happy to see they found a middle ground by the end. And I loved that it was an older couple too - just made for a little more balanced, mature sort of progression. Not that 60-somethings don't do stupid stuff in the name of love and romance too, and not that I don't enjoy my YA or college romances. But sometimes it just makes for a nice change of pace to have a little more maturity in the characters.
Also, a lion having a reaction to a bee sting was something I hadn't seen before in a SPN romance. Seems so very prosaic for a Mighty Alpha Shifter character that it made me smile.
And in general, there's not a lot of actual "shifting" in the Green Valley series. In case you're looking for lots of magic in your SPN romance.
Alternating 3rd person POV. No cheating, no love triangle, no OW/OM drama. Sweet and simple and light. Quick too. A nice change of pace from some of the darker urban fantasies I've read recently. HEA and no cliffhangers, though still some characters left unmatched for future books (I'm betting the neighbor bear and Damien's daughter next!).
Would I read more from this author? Definitely yes. She's one of my go-tos for fast (typically light and fun) SPN romances. From this series? I already have read books 1-3 and am just waiting for 4 to go on sale.
DANDELION SEASON is the third title in the Green Valley Shifters series, and this one is more of a Shifter’s Seasoned Romance as our main couple this time are older, maybe wiser, but certainly just as sexy (if not more so). I, personally, am loving seeing the Seasoned Romance genre showing up in Paranormal Romance – love or sex doesn’t stop at a certain age and it’s a joy to see that represented in this Paranormal/Shifter Romance.
I adored Tawny from the start. This is her final day of work, retirement is only one delivery away and then she can spend time in her garden, read and enjoy herself. She has no regrets, and I loved her attitude from the first page. It took me a little longer to warm up to Damien. He comes off as an arrogant, know-it-all — yet, Tawny brings out another side of him, and since he’s finally found his mate he’s mellowing a bit but certainly needs some help along the way. Remember young Trevor from THE TIGER NEXT DOOR? Well, Damien is his grandfather, and watching this grandpa and grandson learn some lessons from each other is priceless.
DANDELION SEASON doesn’t have bad guys, it does have two adults adjusting to loving someone, making compromises, learning how to give and take with pride still intact. Yes, there is sizzle, but there are also laugh-out-loud moments as Damien makes some major attitude adjustments and learns how to really show his love for his mate and his family.
I enjoyed myself in this world once again. It was such fun to run into old friends once again and to see how they are doing in their own new happy endings. I’m diving into BEARLY TOGETHER next since I want to see Damien’s daughter learn a few lessons about love, bending and letting loose from her own mate. She is a chip off the ole block, if not more strict and straightlaced.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
Looking forward to more from Green Valley! ( lions rocks )
Kindle Unlimited Purchase By Zoe Chant first off, let me say I LoVE THE COVER. The lion stole my heart I just wanted to reach out and scratch it behind the ears. I love silverback/second chance books. Being I'm in my early 50's it fits in with my age group. Now I love shifter books in all "shapes" but lions have a special place in my heart so I try to read lion-shifter books if I see them. When I saw this book I hadn't started the series yet so you guessed it I rented book one and couldn't stop until I read all 3 of them. This book is the best out of the 3. (Lion lol) Tawny and Damien were introduced to us in book 2. And now they come together in this 3rd book. Damien has his world thrown for a loop when he meets Tawny. To say their first meeting went without a hitch would be a lie. But it was cute the way he tried to get to know her. Tawny is looking forward to her retirement. She's planning on playing in the garden and getting dirt under her nails, catching up on her reading. But what she gets is the love of her life. I could go on and on about what I liked about this book. But why are you reading reviews when you carry this wonderful series. Go on go! lol.
Giving this book five stars because it does what it sets out to do and it does it well. If you're looking for "love at first sight between rich guy from the city and small town gal" with a touch of urban fantasy flavor, this is the series for you! This is a light and fluffy story with a side dish of happy sex scenes and many marriages. It's a feel-good kind of book.
The bonus of this book is that we get a focus on an older couple. Finding love is definitely not only for "young people" (whatever age-span you categorize them as) and this story focuses on that. It also has a lot of call-backs to earlier in the series, as the male lead here is the father of one of the earlier male leads. In addition to the relationship between our two leads, there's a lot of familial relationships, parent-child and grandparet-grandchild, that's interesting to see explored.
The only reason I didn't finish this sooner was...well, I think you all know why. We're living through extra rough times right now - allowing yourself to enjoy a silly little romance can be both rewarding and trying under these circumstances. I place no blame on these books for my slow reading speed; that honor goes to the world at large.
Highly recommended to all looking to read cute m/f romances, fantasy lovers or no!
I really enjoyed this opposites attract seasoned love romance. It had a wonderful mix of sweet, steamy, and real life issues. Tawny is a human woman who lives in small town Green Valley. She is an unassuming mail carrier, piano teacher, and has accepted that she’s an old maid. Damien is divorced and widowed lion shifter who owns and runs a multimillion dollar business. Tawny and Damien meet when he arrives in Green Valley to visit with his son and grandson just as they are hosting Tawny’s surprise retirement party. Damien instantly recognizes that she is his mate even if he fumbles the initial meeting. To get to their HEA, they are going to have to unpack some baggage and do a bit of life realignment. The book is fairly low angst and has a little bit of everything - sweet moments, a bit of steam, laughs, cringe worthy moments, supportive and nosy townspeople, cute children, painful pasts, and lots of swoony love. The story was well written with relatable characters and an engaging storyline that made me feel all the things. I’ll definitely keep reading this series. 3.5 stars.
Nothing like a bee sting to reveal their beast. Loved the shawl he had made especially that a bee was added. It was a nice fun read. Great to find love at any age. Green Valley really does seem dull but the reading group was too much fun. The reading group in the city was pretty boring. I would rather a fun group than a strict group that has to stay on topic. Too funny, we didn't get any casserole recipes. How we met, he dumped food all over me. Lol the scene in the bus stop with the two guys reading books with her priceless! Didn't you get the text I sent, o my forgot to hit send again lol. Loved the cute and fun love story but the "may I" before doing anything got old at what point does that stop. She can always say no kind of takes away the fun of being surprised.
Tawny is an elderly Oman who was retiring from being a mail carrier. She had her retirement all figured out. On the last day of her job she is on the last delivery when she had a package to deliver but was kind of surprised when no one answered the door. She is trying to decide what to do when suddenly everyone yells surprise. So the town got together to throw her a party. Damien is a lion shifter and he is in the small town to see his son and grandson. When he sees Tawny he knew she was his mate. So they fall in love and Tawny decides to go to home with him. But she missed her home town. Damien wants her to be happy so he told her he would retire and they could buy a new house in Green Valley. Love is togetherness and happiness no matter where they live.
This story is simply cute. We get to see some characters from previous stories here. The grandson Trevor is a doll. There's nothing like a lion on the prowl when he meets his mate. They are both so different from each other, but complement the other so well.
This is a more relaxed pace story, with a hopeful tone, and a character oriented storyline with no real steamy scenes and vivid characters. I liked that they were both more mature characters. You don't see retired people who are the main characters in a romance often. It makes for a nice change of pace. Enjoy! You don't have to read the previous stories to get this, but you might want to, so that you can get the whole picture.
Tawny Summers delivered mail for Green Valley for years and is now retiring. She has her retirement all planned out ~ working on her garden, catching up on her reading, taking care of her cats, and teach piano lessons. She hadn't planned on a surprise party the town threw for her or for meeting Damien Powell at that party. Damien is a lion shifter and successful businessman who came to town to work on his relationship with his son, Shaun, and grandson, Trevor. He hadn't planned on meeting his soulmate after all these years. Can a big city billionaire and small town woman find a happy middle?
I really enjoyed this book and how it allows for romance over 50. It was well-written with believable characters. I highly recommend both the book and the series which I suggest you read in order.
Damien and Tawny's Autumn Tryst! 3.45***** Spoiler Alert
Damien, Shaun's wealthy lion shifter dad, met his mate, Tawny as she retired from the USPS. Through a series of mishaps, like spilled pasta on her top, inappropriate gifts such as cars, and penthouse apartments, they both acknowledged their love of Green Valley, and got married there.
A so-so storyline with likeable characters that needed to be honest with each other, if they were planning a lifetime commitment to each other. The theme once again, is honesty is the best policy. A fair, quick read!
Enjoyable and cute little book about two older folks finding love. Tawny, a mail carrier, is newly retired when she meets Damien, a very successful businessman. He's from the city and runs a multi million or billion dollar company. He's also a lion shifter. She's from Green Valley, a small town where everyone knows everyone. They clash when they meet, but she's his mate.
I did enjoy this story but found it tedious at times because of the second guessing. Is she good enough? What does he see in her? He loves the city and she loves the country. Etc. Naturally all ends well with an HEA ending but getting there felt like work.
This is a sweet shifter romance, featuring an older couple. As is typical in shifter romances, they fall in instalove -- although she thinks it is just lust for a while, since she doesn't know about fated mates.
I liked the couple for the most part, and they were good for each other. The H was a little annoying at times, when he just assumed the h would be happy to live where he wanted. He got a lot better as the story went on, though.
Enjoyable enough read but didn’t really feel attached to these two characters, even though Damian ties in with a previous book. Ready for a quiet and pleasant retirement, Tawny has her plans in place but all is thrown into disarray by the arrival of Damian, a powerful city lion shifter. These two both need to find a happy balance between city and country lifestyles and agree to compromise to reach a happy medium they can both live with. Kindly offered this book by the author but read through KU.
Another perfect addition to the Green Valley series! I love this sweet little romance featuring an older couple and his family. He may be take charge in the boardroom, but when it comes to his mate he is happily willing to move at her pace. Slowly they find their way with each other and work towards their HEA. I loved seeing the residents of Green Valley again and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
I liked the story of two mature adults. Older adults should get a hot romance. Maybe. but of action though? I also wish the female lead wasn't written as....dowdy. Not a looker or attractive and plump I think it said. Why? There are so many beautiful women over 60! Why did he get to be hot and she didnt? Maybe it was so we would know that looks didn't matter but.... It bothered me.
I read this as a part of free or almost free e-book from Amazon. The first two in the series were okay but this one was so boring that I wanted to stop mind-book. Just I tend to read to the end. It is predictable, the couple interaction is boring and there is little to no paranormal aka shifter action, let alone "sexy" reading - the tension is just not there. I don't think that I will read another book from this author. Disappointing waste of time.
This was a well written quick read. I purchased and started to read without realizing it was book 3 in this series. The storyline does well as a standalone but when incidents are mentioned it made me want to go back and read those stories as well. I was drawn into the story by the couple and loved that these characters had real-life miles on them! Fast fun read!
As a woman of a certain age, it’s hard to find romance books I can identify with and enjoy without a small touch of nostalgia for younger times. This was the perfect story, not too much descriptive sex, but still passionate, not filled with silly quarrels but fiery none the less. I loved every minute of it and wish there were more.
In Minnesota casseroles are hotdishes is this unique to Minnesota? I had thought it was a midwest thing. Didn't realize the state location until the mention of Madison then dawned on me is was Wisconsin. The book is adorable an more mid-age adults need a happily ever afters glad to find it.
Lol Damian came on wayyyyy 2 strong in the beginning but she lost what temper she had and it was funny!! She realized that even though she's used 2 sumthing she tried 2 expand her limitations 4 him and 2 help him with the gap between his kids and him 4 the better. I loved her wedding vows about his big ego lol
