They say some loves travel through time and are fated to meet over and over again. For Maddie, an art therapist, who wrestles with the “peculiar feeling” she has lived previous lives and is being called to Italy by voices that have left imprints on her soul, this idea is intriguing. Despite her best efforts, however, proof of this has always eluded her. That is, until one ...more

A true Renaissance woman, Melissa Muldoon weaves her passions for art and Italy into a stirring saga that sweeps across centuries. As her time-traveling heroine Maddie reconnects with kindred souls, we meet Artemisia Gentileschi, the 17th–century artist who overcame rape and ignominy to gain respect and acclaim. Historic figures such as Galileo and Mussolini also come to life in this intricately plotted novel, but the women who defy all constraints to take control of their destinies are the ones ...more

Take a trip to Italy with Eternally Artemisia!

In the age of our current Covid-19 pandemic Melissa Muldoon’s writing was a thirst-quenching escape from the confines of my city-burb apartment.
From an Upper Manhattan loft we meet our 2 leading ladies, Maddie and our historical 17th century baroque artist, Artemisia Gentileschi. Not only do we get transported to Florence but an entirely different time period learning about the truly turbulent, and historically accurate young life of Artemisia Gentil

I have been to Rome and Venice but after reading this wonderful novel I'm longing to visit Florence! Melissa Muldoon brings together historical and contemporary narratives in this story of love across the ages with excellent dialogue, vivid characters and rich descriptive detail. I particularly enjoyed the emphasis on female friendship and support and love to find books with strong women from history that I know little about. Artemisia Gentileschi is a fascinating character and I'm thrilled to h ...more

Eternally Artemisia is my new favorite book by Melissa Muldoon. I love how this story incorporates so many things: romance (which I love), bonds (showing how strong women are), and stories (different ones interwoven). How Muldoon writes about Italy really makes me feel as if I’m there too. I really appreciate how much effort Muldoon put into this book especially with the research into the eras. Eternally Artemisia was well written, and the characters were well developed. I definitely recommend a ...more

A wonderful read with well-drawn characters, a story line that is engrossing and lots of history. I found myself transported to Italy, and the book stayed with me long after I had finished it. Ms. Muldoon has woven an irresistible tale once again!

What a lovely story! Melissa weaves the lives of 4 women across time, all with some connection to Artemisia Gentileschi, a 16th century Italy painter. They represent the feminine strength that arises from life challenges, each with their unique intelligence. Underlying their stories is the idea that love transcends all, even time, love is timeless. As with her other books, Melissa fills the story out with interesting facts and references to the Italian life, culture and it's history, her attenti ...more

While this tale hits upon tough themes and how women have turned from tragedy to a better future,

it's a beautiful weave of time, art, hope and determination.

Maddie is a woman, who even as a girl has had a special openness to time, dreams and a bit of spirituality. It's no surprise that the world of art has become her calling. However, she can never shake the sense that her existence might go beyond the usual borders...as if other times are calling to her. She discovers a special bond to ARtemisi

    written novel.

The story centers around two incredibly brave and strong women, Maddie and Artemisia. Maddie is an art therapist who is drawn to Italy by voices that tie her to its artistic and at times violent past. Artemisia is a female painter who was a strong woman that stood up for female rights at a great cost. She was raped, faced a trial against her accused where she was tortured and then faced being an outcast because she was no longer pure. Both women found release and freedom in the art

Having read Ms. Muldoon’s previous two novels, I knew that I wanted to read her latest book. And having read this latest installment of her Italy novels, I really enjoyed this book, although I had a thing or two that I thought could have been done better.
For the things that I didn’t like about the book I didn’t like how the book was concluded. I felt that the author could have brought the book full-circle rather than just end it where she did. Also I felt that the first two parts could have been

Eternally Artemisia offers readers another glimpse into Italy. The author does a fantastic job weaving Italy's history, art, and culture into her storyline. As Maddie navigates her present, builds her future and learns from her past (and strengthens her connections to her past lives), readers will explore the beauty, the darkness, and the streets of Italy. As the author makes references to historical figures, artists, and daily life--the author educates and encourages a love for Italian life and ...more

Eternally Artimesia is my first introduction to Melissa Muldoon’s books. After reading this one, it will not be the last. It starts in the United States with Maddie. She is in her forties and offered a chance to go overseas to work in Italy. In Italy, is where her journey really begins. She feels connected to the past here. She meets a local family that makes her learn about her past and herself.

Eternally Artimesia is a pretty good read. I honestly was not sure what I thought of it at first. Ab

Eternally Artemisia was such an interesting mix of history, family, romance, friendship, and mystery. Reading Maddie’s story as she picks up and moves her life to Italy is simply inspiring. As Maddie experienced all of the feelings of excitement and nervousness over her new life, the author did such an amazing job of leading us along in Maddie’s discoveries. Maddie, a 40 year old art therapist has decided to live her dream of relocating from New York City to Italy to continue her work with a new business partner. Although she believes in romantic love, she isn’t convinced that she has met the one person she is willing to spend the rest of her life with.

Maddie has always known that she was different, often experiencing feelings of not quite belonging in the present and of being gently tugged by the past, of what exactly she wasn’t certain.

Melissa Muldoon is in her element in “Eternally Artemisia.” There are so many delicious details that are woven so intricately into multiple storylines, and her distinctive tone sets her apart. She has truly found her niche in delivering inspiring “need-to-know” stories about women - their strengths, determination and will to “not only survive but thrive” under the most challenging of circumstances throughout history. “Eternally Artemisia” hits issues from eras long past that are still unfortunat ...more

“Eternally Artemesia” is a sumptuous read, painting an inspiring and romantic depiction of the eternal journey of true love. Much of the history, art and some of the characters portrayed were real and Melissa Muldoon did a brilliant job of blending them onto the romantic canvas that makes this story fly! Her main characters are wonderfully developed. Maddie is so strong and her Matteo is the perfect counterpart. But the true star of this tale is Artemisia Gentileschi an artist I had never heard ...more

    Inspiring!

This story grips you from the moment you start reading. I loved how Melissa took a true story from the past and weaved it into a tale that everyone nowadays can enjoy. A suspenseful romance with an inspiring message.

You know, it kind of reminds me of outlander so if you like that series you should give this one a try too.

Eternally Artemesia is a beautiful tale of romance and strength weaved from the past, present, and future. Maddie, an art therapist, goes to Italy to lead a retreat for women who have been sexually abused. While there, she finds herself wrapped up in Artemesia Gentileschi's life, a talented female painter who encapsulated female strength and used her own misfortunes to paint elegant yet graphic images which are now praised for their ingenuity.
