Could this be THE perfect summer read? Quite possibly. This book has it all: romance, a gorgeous island setting and buckets of laughs. Literally every other page had me laughing out loud. Even though there is much to love about the second-first-kiss plot, it was the summer friendships that made my heart sing. I couldn't put this book down. If you're a fan of Beth Garrod's SUPER AWKWARD series then this book will absolutely not disappoint.

🎵 If you change your mind, im the first in line, honey im still free, take a Chance on me 🎵 Just finished #takeachanceonme by @beth__garrod - first things first, I LO❤️ED IT! I have been asked many times over the past few years if im actually a 15 year old girl in a mans body.... No. I am a happy 28 year old man who loves a bit of brilliant teen fiction! I’ve been following Beths books since Super Awkward and I’ve loved every moment of them. Take a Chance on me is about a girl called Meg who has ...more

I do love Beth Garrod, but I couldn’t get into this book as easily as Super Awkward. The story only picks up about halfway through, and as much as I liked the characters, I didn’t feel the connection I think I was meant to. And there was a lot going on that was only glazed over. I think maybe there were too many players in the book and it would have been easier to connect if there were a few less to get on with? Maybe if Meg’s best friend didn’t come visit and didn’t have all the stuff with her ...more

Loved this so much. I devoured this book in a day and honestly could not put it down. It really was the perfect summer read. I loved watching all the friendships form in this book and while some elements felt quite fanciful it was still very down to earth. If you are sitting on a beach or laying by the pool this book will compliment the experience perfectly

Cringey and not aimed at my age group. I think I picked this up awhile ago and it’s been sat on my shelf unfortunately not I’ve grown out of these types of books. Perfect teen summer read though.

Laugh out loud hilarious. I am never going to forgive Beth Garrod for not being old enough to write when I was a sixth former. Such a relatable protagonist who has a brilliantly funny internal monologue.

I've read all of Beth's Awkward books so couldn't wait to pick this up. It has a different feel than those books but still has the same humour and charm. A great read!

Full review on my blog.

This was such a fun book to read, but maybe in the wrong season. I have a full review of this so I'm not going to go into too much detail but I really enjoyed reading this, although I had a few issues with it. I loved the fact that it was a Mamma Mia retelling, and I loved the setting. However, I really disliked how it's not particularly diverse, there was one pairing that was just unnecessary in my opinion

Picture this: you've got the perfect summer read, you're staying on the English Riviera, the temperature is close to 30'c on the coastline and you've just met one of the funniest book characters you've had the chance to meet in a long time. That was my summer, last week. And it was so much better with Take A Chance On Me in my bag on long, hot days and beach trips.
Meg, our main character, has had a shall we say, quite disastrous history of her first kiss that she would very much love to start f

I really loved this book , it was an entertaining, light and fluffy read and had characters that were fully fleshed out and actually felt like real people. i loved how this book was set on an island where a film shoot was taking place. Meg , to me, was a amazing main character she seemed realistic and sometimes clumsy , i feel like if she were a real person we would be good friends! olive i have to admit i wasn't very keen on at the beginning of the book yet she eventually grew on me later on. i ...more
