This review was originally posted on my review Blog Deanna Reads Books
Animal Attraction is the second book in Kate Willoughby's San Francisco Dragons hockey series. I definitely think I liked this book a little better than the first one. I still liked Clean Sweep, but I think I just liked the romance in this one a little better. It felt a little bit more like a slow-burn and I was really excited when these two finally got together.

I do feel like this book was having a hard time trying to figur

This is an OK read, but I'm afraid that it didn't knock my socks off.  I'm trying to put my finger on what didn't work for me, but I don't think that it was just one thing.

Don't get me wrong - it started off decently, but then seemed to ... settle.  I simply didn't get the apparent depth of their connection, or the speed of it, and Spencer's behaviour later in the book is so oblivious as to be jarring.  It didn't gel for me.

That said, there are some well written interactions between all of the c

I thought this was a really good. I laughed so hard from some of the crazy things that happened. Maggie Hudson lost her dog Kirby. Her friend saw Kirby on the tv show with Spencer Corbett the Dragon’s hockey player. Maggie chased down Spencer to get her beloved dog back. Spencer didn’t want to give back Kirby because of his older sick dog. After allowing Spencer to keep Kirby, Maggie visited her dog and they became close. Kate Willoughby book Animal Attraction is a book about friends falling in ...more

Kate Willoughby’s ANIMAL ATTRACTION is fetching! In this story, Maggie Hudson dog Kirby is lost. Six months later, she discovers that he was found by NHL player Spencer Corbett. She goes to his house unannounced to get her dog back, but it’s not that simple to bring him home. This contemporary sports romance is suitable for adult readers.

ANIMAL ATTRACTION is a heartwarming story. I love Kirby’s relationship with Spencer’s dog. Maggie and Spencer are both likeable characters. They are both good
Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book.

6 months ago, Maggie’s dog, Kirby, goes missing. Her friend Jade finds him, and Maggie goes to the door of hockey player Spencer to get him back. But Kirby is looking after Spencer’s elderly dog, Lulu, who has perked up since Spencer found Kirby by the side of the road and he doesn’t want Lulu to go yet. Sharing the dog for the short term seemed the best idea. But as they get closer, secrets threaten to drive them apar

This was only my second Kate Willoughby book, the first being Clean Sweep - the starter book for this series. I wasn't sure what to expect to be honest. I have seen her name mentioned previously in recommendations for sports romance books but had never read any.
Animal attraction was a great read. I was quickly immersed and couldn't put it down. I stayed up way later than I should in order to finish reading it and was disappointed when I woke up and grabbed my kindle just to remember that I was

Animal Attraction is a standalone in the San Francisco Dragons hockey series with a really cute meet-cute between Spencer and Maggie -- he's got her runaway dog. But when she tracks him down to get Kirby back, Maggie finds that Spencer's aging dog has a special affinity for Kirby and they agree to let Spencer keep Kirby for the time being. As they spend more time together so Maggie can visit Kirby, this hot NFL player and Plain Jane schoolteacher end up falling for one another.

But Maggie's insec

Love of dogs starts the romance!

Teacher Maggie Hudson is a serious San Francisco Dragons fan and when her best friend told her to watch the latest At Home with a Dragon with hockey player Spencer Corbett. It shows her missing pug Kirby, that disappeared from her back yard three months ago that he found on the street. He never called her back when she left her phone number with the team, she tracked down where he lived and crashed his party where he explained why he hadn’t called her explaining a

This attraction is intense!! (4.5 stars)

Animal Attraction is the second book in Kate Willoughby’s San Francisco Dragons series and this series just keeps getting better and better. The storyline is cute and endearing but also smoldering, sexy, and so much fun!! Centring around the disappearance of first grade teacher Maggie Hudson’s dog three months before, who makes an appearance on an entertainment show’s segment showcasing NHL hockey player, Spencer Corbett. Armed with this new information an

I read a lot of books, so I really appreciate it when authors add an original twist to a traditional plot. Willoughby has made a career out of writing such books. Spencer is not the arrogant sports star you would expect, to the point of being clueless about women and relationships. Maggie is older than Spencer but the two have more in common then they think. They are brought together by Kirby, Maggie's escaped dog. Cute animals often serve as the catalyst for bringing the main couple together. S ...more

I loved the first book in the series I knew I had to read this one. I loved characters in this one though I did want to slap Spencer in the head a few times. I loved Maggie. That girl has a heart of gold and she so deserves a HEA. Learning her past the ending of this one was so perfect. When I finished reading this one it left me with a smile on my face. This book definitely brings the feels. There are plenty of light hearted and fun moments, but there are also serous hit you in the heart moment ...more

I picked this up to read and couldn’t put it down. My kids were annoyed that I had my nose in a book...again. I’m like this every time Kate Willoughby releases a new book! The storyline between Maggie and Spenser is great. There’s the expected trouble in paradise and it’s not from the place you’d expect. Kate has a way of telling a story that explains hockey to people who aren’t huge fans, but doesn’t make those of us who know the game feel like we need to skip ahead or get bored. A great read a ...more

CW: heterosexual romance, heterosexual sex

I loved the parts about the dogs because I'm a sucker for good stories involving dogs especially well loved dogs. And this definitely has that.

I enjoy the slightly unrealistic idea of being invited into a hockey players house AND after yelling at said hockey player invites you to watch the All Star game with him and the team. At the same time, it also feels real enough that it could happen.

Another edition to the San Francisco Dragons series. This one is about Spencer and Maggie. Spencer is a star hockey player and Maggie and her bestie Jade are huge hockey fans. So when Jade calls Maggie and tells her to check the latest at home with the dragons. She can't believe her eyes. Her precious baby Kirby is in the background. She decides to crash his NHL all star game party. They click immediately with chemistry.

I love Kate Willoughby’s quirkiness, she puts her characters in completely believable but totally mad scenarios. Kate Willoughby delivers smiles!

It was a delight to read. He is adorable and Maggie is one of those heroines that is easy to relate to and super likeable.

Not only does the author’s quirkiness shine, but her passion for hockey is clearly evident. There’s something about this SF Dragons team I just want more.

It’s an easy stand alone read, so go grab it!

This book was so much fun! I really enjoyed the characters, and Kate Willoughby did a great job developing the characters making them entertaining and people you would love to know better, even characters I thought I wouldn’t like at first. I love that the plot line is something completely different than any other. I have never heard of characters meeting that way before!

I enjoyed Animal Attraction. I liked how steadfast Spencer was with his love for Maggie even while he handled work and personal issues. I liked how the story became about a blended family near the end. I also liked how there wasn’t a lot of drama because everyone handled the events as maturely as possible. I hope that Stacey, Jade, and Taylor show up again in future books.

Kate Willoughby finished! I loved this book! The characters were so believable as was the story line. As a retired elementary teacher who loves dogs and is from Canada (hockey mom and wife), this book ticked all my reading boxes. And the feels...🥰 Can’t wait for your next one. Bravo!

This was a pretty cute book. It started off interesting then got boring in the middle, but the last 20% was good again. I’m just not a big fan of third person story telling. It makes it sound like you are reading everything from a distance instead of living their life. Overall, it wasn’t bad.

This is a really great book. The chemistry between Maggie and Spence is immediately apparent. Of course no romance runs smoothly all the time. Still a great book worth the read! Love them both♥️
