The author via Booktasters provided a copy of the eBook in exchange for an honest review.
Health-Wealth For You: 11 Steps To Save Big & Live Healthy by Dr. Josh Luke is a thorough overview of the many healthcare challenges facing Americans. The author shares personal experiences and clearly, he has an understanding of the difficulties that many individuals and families face. The book is an excellent resource book for those requiring recommendations on best practices to ensure practical help. The author's eleven steps give practical suggestions and direction. This must-read book is well-written and should not be ignored. It is difficult for me to understand the lack of healthcare for all given that I live in a country where it is provided--and it works. Is healthcare a human right or a privilege? Can not imagine the stress of worrying about insurance, payments, etc.
Nowadays, the majority of the top twenty hospitals nationwide have opened up some type of integrative medicine practice. One of the many benefits of integrative medicine is that it is often a cash-pay model, which allows the doctor to spend more time with the patient because the physician’s monthly salary is guaranteed in advance (managed-care model) so he or she is not in a rush to invoice as many patients as possible. This increased face time with doctors, whether remotely or in person, is a common theme in several of the eleven Health-Wealth steps. It was a great book and I learned a lot of new information I didn’t know before. It had a a good information and it was a great book.
Health-Wealth For You: 11 Steps To Save Big & Live Healthy is one of those books you read, then reread, then keep for future reference. Dr. Josh Luke is very informative to the “behind the scenes” in the medical world and explains how the billing works. With medical insurance companies raising their prices, it straps the American people for money as their health care is compromised by so many opponents. There are ways to cut costs and be an advocate of your health care and he explains how. Though the author explains that it is hard to win with some medical issues since not all medical facilities are forthcoming in their billing costs.
The best time to read Health-Wealth For You is now, hopefully before a medical crisis has occurred. Dr. Josh Luke telling about his family medical issues gives this book credibility and insight by who all is affected by this calamity our country has gotten itself into. Highly recommended, though difficult to swallow if you work in the medical field.
‘Have a Plan based on Preventative Medicine and Personalized Medicine’
California author Josh Luke, PhD, a faculty member at the University of Southern California, is America’s healthcare affordability authority. After opening his career as a sports marketer, a family encounter with the health care delivery system changed his direction to enter the health care arena: he became a hospital CEO and a healthcare strategist. In addition to being a motivational speaker, acclaimed internationally for his educational, motivational and often humorous presentations he has a rich teaching history in public policy and Healthcare Administration at numerous universities, most recently designing healthcare course work for the University of Southern California's Sol Price School of Public Policy. He also dedicates time each year to being active in health care advocacy in our government.
Josh now turns his expertise to consumers as well as businesses on controlling costs of healthcare. As he states his précis, “Throughout 2018 Apple, Amazon, and Tesla all opened onsite employee health clinics at headquarters. These are just a few of those well-known employers who took steps to address the largest uncontrollable expense in their business – providing healthcare insurance for employees and their families. I am prepared to help you identify similar tactics to the ones these corporations have taken to keep healthcare from destroying your family’s financial health and shift this pattern of healthcare consuming a larger-than-needed portion of your family budget. Whether it’s better understanding your high deductible plan and how to avoid wasteful spending or simply recognizing the value of understanding your DNA and how your body responds to natural remedies, ‘Health-Wealth’s 11 Steps to Save Big & Live Healthy’ will help you and your family begin your journey to financial recovery.”
The message of the book is clear and accessible, ending in eleven simple concepts that individuals and families can implement that will lead to improved health and immediate, significant savings. Though Josh’s writing is often glib and acerbic, he is definitely placing before us a positive manner in which to decrease health care costs and improve healthcare delivery. This is a book about today in American medicine and the changes that plead to be made. It is a must read for all of us.
I got a copy of this book from the author via Booktasters. This in exchange for an honest review. I am a little slow in reading the books, but fortunately Booktasters has not fired me yet. Thank you! I would never have known about all the great books, if it was not through Booktasters.
I did not do my homework properly before I asked for the book, but as always Life knew what I needed to hear! This book is especially for the American health care system, but I could find just as much solid health advice from a South African standpoint. The health care systems worldwide are inflated, and does not always have our best interests at heart. Money speaks!
I am also a huge advocate for taking care of one's own health, and to take responsibility for what we put in our bodies, how we treat our bodies and how we treat the symptoms when they appear. This book also teaches that we can participate in the decision-making process when we are being treated in the system. We have the final say in our own health. Armed with knowledge, it will make it so much easier. It will also financially helps us to negotiate the best deal for us, our families and our companies that we work for.
Dr. Josh Luke has a solid practical 11-step plan to tackle one's own health-wealth. I can incorporate that in my own planning for future health. I will definitely look at alternative insurance models, full genome sequencing and DNA testing for my family, utilizing AI, blockchain and machine learning, etc, to name the first few. I can use ALL of the steps, even here in South Africa.
I will advise anyone who are serious about their own health, and the health of their family, to get this book to keep it as compass for their health journey. Health IS wealth! I will use it as a practical guide from now on. Thanks so much, Dr. Josh Luke!
Josh Luke's book about the American Health care system and its flaws does several things at once:
It gives you an insider account of what's happening in the health care industry. Why do big corporations open their own health clinics exclusively for their own employees? Why is health care so bloody expensive in the US (Soft Spoiler Alert:"fee for service" plays an important role)? Who profits most? Why is it so difficult for these things to change? Why did Obamacare not significantly reduce the overall health care cost in America?
But even more importantly, Dr. Josh Luke's book provides readers with actionable advice how to take things into their own hands and to bring down the high costs that most people carry these days when being serious about health care coverage for themselves and their loved ones. This section starts with an assessment which each reader can complete online to find out what steps are most beneficial for them.
Josh's competence on this important subject comes from his role as an industry expert. But he is also a father, husband, son and grandson. As such he shares all his first-hand experience with the health care industry with us, the readers. It is the combination of insight from all those very different roles which makes this book such a good read.
This book is highly recommended to all those who struggle with personal health care cost or for those who want to form a qualified opinion about this ever pressing subject. Josh hopes that more Americans need to become "Engaged Healthcare Consumers"! The best audience for Josh Luke's book "Health-Wealth For You" however are the politicians who could change the underlying system.
I received a copy of this book for free from the author for an honest review for Booktasters. I chose this book because I thought it would be relevant to me when choosing a health insurance plan with my employer, and let me say, it was eye-opening. Dr. Luke teaches readers how to become an EHC (engaged health consumer). The book claims that by following advice held within its pages, you could save 30% annually in healthcare spending? And seriously, who doesn't want to save money, especially on something that some of us never even use that often until we reach a certain age. This book is broken down into sections, so if you aren't interested in knowing how we managed to get ourselves into this pickle, you could skip parts one and two, but I suggest you read them, simply because it is so eye-opening. Part 3 was the main reason for me wanting to read the book and although I was somewhat familiar with many of the options available, I did learn about some new possibilities to help cut spending and save money in the long-term. I appreciated his non-partisan approach to explaining our American healthcare system and the advice he gave is easy to follow. I would recommend this to businesses who are trying to make better decisions about health care plan options AND for individuals and families who want to curtail costs for themselves. This book was a great conversation to have with others as well, especially other friends and family, because we all need health insurance, and we all need to know ins and outs of it in order to make smarter decisions.
Health-Wealth for You: 11 Steps to Save Big & Live Healthy, is a book about the skyrocketing costs of the American healthcare system, how it has developed over the years and suggestions to help any American lower their own healthcare costs.
The author is very knowledgeable in the area of the costs of the health care system and how tests are administered and billed in hospitals as he has been a CEO at various hospitals. He shares personal stories on how the dangerously high costs of health care have impacted his own family.
It’s no secret that the costs of health care have been increasing, even so this book was eye opening to just how much they are increasing and there doesn’t appear to be an end in sight. It was interesting to learn more about the ins and outs of how doctors and hospitals bill.
The last section of the book focuses on 11 ways that anyone can use to help reduce their healthcare costs. This includes things such as enrolling in alternative health care, DNA testing to help identify potential forms of cancer and how a person’s body metabolizes medicine, telehealth, direct primary care plans and more. Any American can benefit from reading this book so they can learn how to have better care for themselves and families and hopefully reduce their health care costs.
Dr. Luke has another work to be incredibly proud of. I didn't quite enjoy this one as much his other health-wealth book, 9 steps to financial recovery, but it hits the same beats well.
From beginning to end, the book maintains its purpose however. The foreword instantly sets the books purpose and shows how it will help, before systematically taking you through its commentary on the American healthcare system and how you can save a lot of money and keep healthy.
The book then ends by Dr. Luke turning the question back on his readers, which really captures the essence of the book. It's advice, until the end where it effectively comments "you have the means, what are you going to do with them?"
All of the book's supplementary information and questionnaires, such as the 11 step plan at the end, adds helpful and insightful ways to live and to save.
The reason I didn't enjoy it as much as the other work is as it felt more "jargon-ny" without as much explanation and the authoritative nature felt more like confidence than authority. While this isn't necessarily a bad thing, Dr. Luke of course knows what he's talking about, it means a different tone came across.
Overall though, this book is helpful, interesting, and incredibly purposeful.
Here is another Josh Luke foray into the abyss that is the American healthcare system; Health - Wealth For You: 11 Steps To Save Big & Live Healthy. This is the third book by Luke I've read, the second in what I can only assume will be a Health - Wealth series. In this installment, the author lays out specific steps to follow to not only navigate but take advantage of the quagmire that is our healthcare system. A sort of How To manual for making sound decisions for the average family's personal and financial health.
I haven't been the biggest fan of the way this author has come across in the past but I believe that's simply due to my own personal issue because he has a very devoted following. I can objectively say that his message is clearly stated and his background suggests he has all the experience necessary to be giving the advice he is giving. I would be interested in hearing from anyone who followed his plan to find out some real life outcomes.
To summarise my reading experience I must say I liked things that were for background and wasn't much of a fan of things meant to be liked.
As much as the book describes the American health insurance system, it also showcases the dark side of medical care witnessed almost everywhere. Its sad to know that the people we trust our lives into has made it all just money business. Just like the author described his personal experience, it hits hard. People have actually lost faith from the health care system because of this. Some even don't go for treatment knowing there are going to be charged for things they don't need. It was refreshing to read it from perspective of someone who has worked on the other side of things.
Coming to the part that was apparently suppose to be a solution, I didn't like it much as some of them look great on paper but aren't practical or pocket friendly.
Looking forward to finding out how the steps work for me.
I am in a place where I really can’t afford insurance but I need insurance. So I decided to pick this book up. There is no doubt the American healthcare system is completely messed up. More often than not we are in a place where we can’t afford insurance, but can’t afford to go without it either. It’s a catch-22 that so many struggle with. I found this book very interesting and I’m going to be implementing his 11 steps into my life in hopes of taking back the reins and gaining some control back in certain aspects of my life when it comes to both my health and my wealth! He really presents sound advice that will not only get his readers started in the right direction but also to help them to gain confidence as they navigate US healthcare.

Being an European and working with Americans on a daily basis, healthcare is something that pops-up into conversations quite often. The concept of American healthcare is something hard to understand outside USA, so I decided to buy and read this book, in order to fully understand the process. This is a great book, wrote in an easy way, with simple terms, that put in full display the disparities and injustice of the American system but it also sheds a light in more eficiente ways. The authors do a brilliant job, using personal experiences to explain what they are talking about. Health and wealth should not be interconnected in such a close way, but, since they are, it is better if we learn how to navigate through those troubled waters.
I was provided the book through booktasters and I really enjoyed it!
Workinf in healthcare, and seeing alot of the things that the author talks about is really interesting. Health-Wealth For You: 11 Steps To Save Big & Live Healthy by Dr. Josh Luke is basically an overview challenges Americans face while dealing with healthcare. Based off of the author's experiences, it is safe to say that he knows what he is talking about, and can even relate to what a lot of people go through on the daily when it comes to dealing with healthcare, and healthcare related issues. The author's eleven steps give a very good direction, and allow for readers to understand what is going on. I really enjoyed this book, and it is absolutely a must read!

Much needed book in present day scenario to understand background of health care Industry.
This book is really informative in understanding the variations in health care, hospital management in past and recent years. It also illustrates importance of health planning for family in affordable way and most important of all it will help in understanding preventive measures and importance of being cautious about health and food habits for millennials. It also has some actual real life situations of author to enunciate behind the scenes in hospital and also tackle one. Overall it's a good book and especially must read if anyone want to understand health care industry at America and act accordingly.
Health-Wealth For You In the book Health-Wealth For You, the author has done applaudable work by illustrating the healthcare system in America and its rising costs. The author has even put forward the bitter truth of the system. The reader will gain immense knowledge on the American healthcare society and also there are 11 steps to deal with this problem. It lays some important points like in order to control healthcare costs, individuals must become An Engaged Healthcare Consumer (EHC) which is a key ingredient in the Health-Wealth formula. This book is a masterpiece and I will recommend to all readers to read if they care about their families.
This book was definitely an eye opener for me. Health care cost are becoming astronomical especially with the rise of insurance cost. Then, with some clinics and doctors are not always forthcoming with their prices and billing practices this is a great book filled to the brim with information. This author starts the reader on the beginning, middle and end on how medical billing should work along with how the services should be handed with you. The author shows the reader on how to be thier own advocate in the whole process to help reduce the cost to yourself as well as how to be incontrol of your healthcare to assist in saving yourself money. This is a must read for any and all households.
It was an interesting read about the American Health Care System. The book had suggestions about making the system better.
The book was written very well, well thought and structured, which I like a lot. For me personally it was a bit less interesting because it was written for the USA.
I would certainly recommend this book to my American friends who are interested in the American Health Care System. It is also interesting for businesses who work regularly with people from the USA.
Anyway, I would like to give a 5* rating for this splendid book.
This book asks all of us a very important question, "Are you an EHC?" An engaged Healthcare Consumer? The cost of healthcare is increasing and are we prepared to make the right and calculated decisions? This book is a well researched one, with facts and medical care models, backed up with links and related sources. It shall help you develop your PHP (Personal Health Plan) and follow the approaches discussed in this book. Thank you Josh and Booktasters for this copy.
The book basically gives us tips about saving money for our wealth. The author has mentioned several personal experience of his in this book and how he did solve it, or how he wished it got solved. However the major setback that i felt was the book is about the health care system of America which was cumbersome for me to understand for me being a citizen of a developing country. However I am sure there is a lot one can learn from this book. Happy reading..
For those of you who are frustrated and tired of American health care costs this book is a must read for you. Dr. Josh Luke educates the reader on what has led to a dysfunctional American Health Care System resulting in Americans paying double what people in other countries pay. The book outlines how to become empowered and take simple steps to reduce your out of pocket expenses and high cost drugs. What I really liked is how Dr. Luke outlined the future of health care management and what employers are doing to reduce health care costs for their employees. The book also reveals the latest developments in how an individual can identify which diseases and conditions they are genetically destined to suffer and how to identify specific drugs, treatments and life style changes that will prevent or delay the onset. The reader is educated on the latest in innovative health care such as integrative functional medicine, full genome sequencing, DNA testing, artificial intelligence, telehealth and remote monitoring which as a health care worker was very enlightening and gives me great hope on how individuals can take control of their own health care and reduce costs. I highly recommend this book.
An interesting read on the best approach to saving your healthcare dollars and getting the best service. A real eye-opener for a Brit who is forever thankful for an National Health Service.
