Again Donna Hechler Porter brings us a uniquely written story, this time about David Cayle & Annie McKechnie. They have been fighting their attraction for each other since their parents wed. This story will take you on another journey, this one into the dangerous back country, where danger and their mutual love will bring them closer. The author does a wonderful job of keeping to the time period and their way of speaking. This story picks up pretty much where it left off in book 1. Don't let ...more

“Breaking Promises” calls to mind the old cinematic epics. Dramatic landscapes, harrowing battle scenes, and impassioned forbidden love painted in wide brushstrokes across a big screen.

She did it again!

Loved this book as much as the first. These books are so far from my usual genre, but I have absolutely fallen in love with these characters. I feel their joys, sorrows, fears and triumphs. Impatiently awaiting the next chapter in their lives!

3.5 stars is more accurate. Love historical fiction and enjoyed the continuation of the Cayle's stories. There is a cliffhanger at the end. That's my only complaint about the book.

She is a member of Romance Writers of America and RWA's Hearts Through History Romance Writers chapter. She currently resides in southeast Texas where she lives with a small ...more
