When laying a trap, be careful not to get caught.

With President Noah Young coming under intense scrutiny, he gives Brady Hawk and the Phoenix Foundation team their most daunting missions to date: capture the ghost leader of a terrorist cell. And they only have a matter of weeks to do it.

However, when Hawk lays a trap, he soon discovers that he’s met his match—and becomes engaged in a battle where far more than an election hangs in the balance for the winner.

Pulse-pounding thrills await in this latest installment of the Brady Hawk series and is sure to please fans of Brad Thor, Brad Taylor, and Vince Flynn alike.

THE FIRST SIGNS that I might like writing -- and that I might be slightly competitive -- appeared when my year two (or first grade) teacher, Mrs. Holland, asked my class to write and illustrate our day. Mine read like this: “The Red team beat the Blue team, 1 to nil. And I won.” The next 47 entries covered my exploits on the soccer pitch while growing up in Ipswich, England.

In South Carolina as a teenager, my dad told me that I could get paid to watch sports provided I could write about it. Sounded easy enough and by the time I was 16, I landed a job at my town’s daily newspaper and had a column on Major League Baseball players from our area. I also covered my first riot there at a sporting event -- and it’s safe to say I was smitten with journalism.

After graduating from one of the best journalism schools in the country, I took a job as a sports editor in South Georgia and learned firsthand about the passion of high school sports in rural America. I thought I knew before, but I didn’t. This was another world.

I also had the opportunity to cover major sporting events like the Olympic Games, the World Series, the Super Bowl, and the Final Four. It was a thrill!

But nothing was as thrilling to me as uncovering the truth in investigative assignments. I once broke a story about a prominent southern football team’s NCAA violation -- and found out the violating coach had committed suicide only a few months earlier. The story won a national writing award and stoked my desire to write about these issues. It made me realize that the sports world was just another fantastic backdrop for drama.

After writing non-fiction books with athletes, for athletes, and ghost writing for many others, I decided to enter the world of fiction writing. It had been something I wanted to do but never found the time. So, I made the time--and had a blast in the process.

I’m not out to become the next Faulkner or Hemingway -- I’m just out to tell a good story. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy writing them!

This book gets around - Morocco, Chile, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkey, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.. There are several story threads running together to the same point and the finale. Agents being turned or not. A turncoat in a sensitive place. And heroes in Blunt’s crew. Lots of action and intrigue. Can they save the President; is he even worth saving? What can they do for a little girl with her leg amputated who lost her father and has a missing mother. We will have to read the next book to find out. Of course read this book first. If you have not read the earlier books in this series do so to understand the backstory.

Brady Hawk is at it again in another exciting thriller. We start with him belting out 'Kashmir' by Led Zeppelin in Pakistan. He's on a rescue mission right across the border with Afghanistan. The mission is successful, but there's a lot more going on. Al Fatihin has a new leader, Evana Bahar, and she is one smart terrorist. Brady Hawk will be after her now and it surely won't be easy. The plot is excellent with twists I wasn't expecting. It's definitely a great addition to the Brady Hawk series. I totally enjoyed it!

Code Red R.J. Patterson

Brady Hawks works for a small covert operation In the nation's capital. POTUS and very few highly placed people know of their existence. The president has been kidnapped by a terrorist group. Their leader is a master of disguise, cunning and will show no mercy. This is a masterfully written tale. Non stop action, intrigue.Enjoyed immensely!

Hawk was dispatched by the President to get Frank Stone being held in the copper mine, under the cover of being a geologist. Joint collaboration between CIA and the Phoenix Foundation.
Sending Titus Black under Blunt command as head of the Phoenix Foundation when the location of General Fortner became known. The plan backfires, and is now personal, the General has a hostage. The plan, is not one Black will do and betray his country, or will he try to do both and lie about it. Then the matter with Evana Bahar she has a Body Double, and slipping in and out of countries. The role of terrorists are being heard, but Blunt wonders what is really going on, and this is a distraction. Evana plans are deadly and would effect all of the United .States, hopefully Hawk can stop. This is full of different missions, and will keep you turning pages and how will they stop the evil that these people want to do.
It was another great plot to read in this series.
Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.

Code Red (A Brady Hawk Novel Book 17) - a review by Rosemary Kenny

The 17th novel in the Brady Hawk Novel series, Code Red by R.J. Patterson could be considered for the travel guide genre as well as that of a spy-thriller, all-action terrorism- fighting potential tv series episode/film sequel of Mission Impossible, as it has undercover operatives of a little-known Presidential enforcement team working in tandem with CIA and others to rescue the POTUS from the clutches of a female-led terrorist cell, before the up-coming elections, while at the same time the action moves at break-neck speed between Chile, Morocco, Turkey, Pakistan, Afghanistan and various American States.
Does it make you want to read this and all the previous Brady Hawke novels by the prolific R.J. Patterson - you bet! Don't wait to get started - and tell all your friends!

How will they be able to save the president?

The excitement continues in trying to stop the terrorists. The woman cannot be stopped. Is this because she is so good? No, her connections are what keeps her going.
