Meow Matrimony #2 of the Fancy Cat Cozy Mysteries series by Lisa Lickel is my favorite, so far.

Ivy and Adam have settled in Apple Grove and wedding plans are in full swing. Neighbors, new friends, as well as loving family from out of town are expected to attend.

Then Ivy finds a body. A local celebrity journalist is found dead in her own home. But wait, how did Ivy find her way in? She sees clues and is sure the candy wrapper delivered the weapon of death. But, who will believe her? It seems as though no one is, not even her so called "new friends."

Lickel has a lot of threads in this story; a couple of love interests beyond Ivy and Adam's which could be found in the next book. It is clear research for book #2 took place: how paper is made and the nature of cyanide for example.

The Mau cats and their story continue on in Meow Matrimony. But the question whether to spay and neuter sadly remained unresolved, though a (forever) home for each kitten ended happily.

Triangle Prism logo is a trademark of Pelican Ventures LLC. Meow Matrimony is a Christian cozy mystery with bible references added in the book's 305 pages. As the author notes, God has a plan.

If you enjoy cozy mysteries, I highly recommend Meow Matrimony, a cat lovers dream.

I love Ivy Preston! She’s spunky, smart, and filled with just enough self-doubt to make her wonderfully relatable. Brought together by their cats, Ivy and her fiance, Adam, are in the countdown days leading up to their wedding. While trying to do a good deed, Ivy stumbles upon a crime scene and gets caught right in the middle of a murder . . . one in which she eventually becomes arrested as a suspect. The author does a wonderful job making you wonder until the very end “Who Dunnit.” Filled with a fascinating cast of characters, Meow Matrimony is an entertaining read. I can’t wait to see what Ivy and Lisa Lickel are up to next!

Ivy is just trying to be helpful and deliver wedding invitations that are mistakenly delivered to her but that gets her into trouble when instead she finds a body. Initially, her ex-fiance seemed the likely suspect but what happened next was a surprise to all.

I enjoyed the mystery and I think the added humor makes it even more entertaining. I did feel a little lost a couple times because I have not read the other books in the series and had to play catch up on what was going on. All in all it is a fun read and I will read future books in the series. Thanks to Pelican Book Group and NetGalley for and advance copy. The opinions are my own.

And the Cat Didn’t Care!

PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW ON MY BLOG: http://bookreadingtic.com/2019/07/24/... THANK YOU!

Ever try to do a good deed, and it backfires on you? That is what happens when Amanda Preston returns a package mistakenly sent to her to the rightful owner. Instead of getting thanks, Amanda finds a dead body, and becomes a murder suspect.

All Amanda wants to do is concentrate on her up-coming wedding, but she is pulled into investigating who really did it partially to prove her innocence. There are plenty of twists and turns to the story, and the cats in Amanda’s life even play a part in the yarn. Besides who the guilty party is, the next biggest question is whether or not Amanda’s marriage will take place. Will she be put in jail, or will her fiancé be so upset about everything that he calls off the nuptials?

This is a clean, cozy story told from a Christian point of view. The story is peppered with quirky characters, including her unusual aunt, a friend named Elvis, and her old boyfriend. You will enjoy trying to puzzle out the guilty party among the suspects. This light tale is part of the Fancy Cat Cozy Mysteries series, and definitely ends with the promise of another installment. Like Amanda, I would like the answer to the question about her sock drawer! I recommend this 5-star story to armchair detectives everywhere.

Princess Fuzzypants here: Two humans, brought together by two cats who now are the proud parents of four adorable kittens, a murder, discovered by our heroine, a wedding, and personal demons almost getting in the way of true happiness: it has all the elements that should make the cat lover or cat fall head over paws. It was good but it did not sweep me away and I wondered why.
I think in the midst of putting lots of moving parts in a mystery to keep the reader guessing, there is always the danger of putting in too much extraneous stuff. And there were times when I just shook my head at the things Ivy did.
It weakened the story and it made the heroine, at times, not very likeable or smart. If you are going to write a cozy that is dangerous for readers like me who like our heroines plucky and brave and intelligent. She does not go out looking to get herself killed or anything. She just does not seem particularly bright.
Still, it was an okay read but did not find me longing for the next book. I give it three purrs and two paws up.

I'm not familiar with this author, however, the title and cover caught my attention.
The story was interesting, a murdered bride to be, another bride to be discovers the body and soon becomes a person of interest.
Ivy decides to take matters into her own hands and looks for the answers to the untimely death.
Usually I find a character that I can relate to, every it isn't the protagonist. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to discover one in this story. While it is a well told story, I found some ho hum parts as well, that had me skimming the words, anxiously awaiting for an exciting part.
As a dedicated fan of cozy mysteries, I'm always willing to give a series a second chance.
I will probably read another in this series and will hopefully find that character that I adore.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for approving me to read this book.

I liked this story. I love cats, so the cat aspect was really fun. But something was sort of missing and then I realized this is book 2 of a series and I had missed book 1. That must be where the character development happened, right? Because there isn't much character development here.

There is a lot happening in this story, which makes it feel like real life. But sometimes it felt like clutter clouding the issue of the mystery, and the mystery every so slowly was solved. Nothing fast paced here, and a lot of distractions. Distractions are not all bad, either. However, the main thing was character without much development so they seemed more cardboard rather than alive and lively. That is why it gets 3 stars instead of 4 or 5 stars.

Kindle Copy for Review from Net Galley.

I received a free, advance copy of this book and this is my unbiased and voluntary review.

Ivy is finally getting married but making it down the altar might be a problem. Trying to do a good deed finds her and her former fiancée stumbling over a dead body as they become the prime suspects. Which leads her to figure out who could possible frame them?

Throw in a sick kitten in the mix as she questions if she could make a good mother if she cannot take care of a little kitten. Will the wedding take place or will she be dead or will to cold feet get to her?

A cute cozy mystery read.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Pelican Book Group for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. First time reading this author. It is the 2nd in a series, and I think they should be read.in order, as I was a bit confused at times. I am sad to say that I didn't really like any of the characters except the cats! What exactly does Ivy do? Bookstore clerk? Unfortunately, she comes across as not very smart and her previous taste in boyfriends is questionable! Plus Adam keeps secrets from her, he can't trust her?? This is a quick read and an ok mystery. I rate it a 3.

Such a fun mystery! I found myself going over the characters in my mind during the 45-minute drive to work and trying to figure out the mystery of who-dunnit. I found Ivy a likeable character who could easily become my friend in real life. Definitely a cozy mystery to enjoy as you curl up with your favourite feline.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

A pleasant cozy mystery. Some cats, a murder, a few clues, several suspects, surprises, and a wedding. Wedding invitations are delivered to the wrong address sending our protagonist off on an adventure. Many interesting characters. A clever ending with hints of more to come. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley.

Although mysteries are not my first choice of genre, I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I liked the characters very much and always had to keep reading to see what happened next. As an added bonus, I am also a cat lover and having had grown up in a small town I particularly loved the descriptions of small town life and the sense of community that is inherent in living one. I would definitely recommend.
