This book was a mix of romance, drama, action, passion and humor - which blended perfectly into the theme of WAR - a story about friendship, loyalty and lots of love. ❤

This book right here was one of my most highly anticipated reads of the year/the century/ to say I'm a fan of military reads is an understatement, they just seem to hit right in the heart, and this book was no different!!
As soon as I started this I was hooked, couldn't put it down, loved the journey the author set me on, raw, real, and riveting, I didn't want it to end!!
Wendys Wycked Words

I absolutely love Kate McCarthy's books. Her, "Give Me" series, is one of my favorites and I re-read those books all the time...especially Casey's book ;) I also really enjoyed reading "Fighting Redemption" so, me reading this one was an absolute no brainer.

If you haven't read the previous book, you can still read this one as a stand-alone, but I assure you that you are missing out, by skipping it :P

Now, I will keep my review as spoiler-free as I can, as not to ruin it for any

I really enjoyed this one.
Thought it was even better than "Fighting Redemption", the only reason that I didn't give it five stars was that I didn't love the heroine.

I was also so ecstatic that the timeline practically ran in parallel to the first book and that this time I felt Jake had a bigger presence. He was a larger than life character that deserved to be a huge part of the storyline. It wasn't fun going through all that heartache over again and this time it hurt even mor

Wow. Just wow. I don't have words for this story! It's just ... GAH ... no words do it justice. It's NEXT LEVEL good. And I almost need a minute to pull myself together. THE ROMANCE. OMG. I cannot even. THE FEELS. THEY KILLED ME. The story... kept me hooked and on the edge. I'm breathless, so emotional, so wowed. I just... yeah, this is a GUARANTEED BOOK HANGOVER kinda read. SO. DAMN. She was my best friend when we were younger, until I left her behind for the Army. I never expected to see her years later in the middle of a brutal war, combat uniform on, bruised and defiant. And I never expected her to be familiar with one of the 'brothers' in my team, their connection undeniable. She was never meant to be mine, but turns out I'm a selfish bastard.

This book gave me chills! I've read my fair share of military romances but this one was knocked it out of the park!

I know when a book is absolutely amazing when I fear writing a review.

My copy of this book is completely highlighted.
I had this big plan of writing down snippets of sentences that were beautiful, sneak peak into passages that will break your heart....I had this whole plan. But now, I just can't say anything besides this has been one of my favourite reads of the year.

After enjoying a happy childhood with her beloved father, Jamie’s world was ripped apart by an awful tragedy, leaving her remaining years as a child in the foster care system. This is where she finally found a little bit of hope via a friendship she made with Bear, who lived over the back fence. They found solace in their friendship and it was formed with words, they never physically met. Just as they were getting to the point of removing that fence, Bear disappeared. Wow, what a read! What an amazing, emotional, incredible, beautiful read! A military-themed friends-to-lovers love story that is surprising, unexpected, unique and absolutely epic! I was completely captivated from start to finish and I loved every moment of it. Definitely a fave for 2019.

First up, be aware that this book ties in with McCarthy’s incredible Fighting Redemption. You can read this one as a standalone and don’t have to have read that book first, bu

Writing this review without spoilers will be tricky as the synopsis brushes a big element of the book under the rug!

And not speaking of it feels like not doing this book justice but so is the review’s law….

Anyway let’s focus on the characters and all the emotions I felt while reading this book!

Wow! I am so crazy emotional after reading this book! This is a military romance that spans over several years and takes us from Australia to Afghanistan. An epic love story that that has ruined me for all other books!

There were definitely some surprises in this plot that kept me fully engaged and intrigued to see where the direction the story was headed. I loved every moment of Jamie's journey! This was not only a story of finding love but also of finding herself and ultimately finding what mad

What a journey! This is my first book by Kate McCarthy, although I could have swore I’d read other books by her. Her story telling just spoke to me, and made me feel this experience as I turned the pages. I enjoyed the Australian verbiage, and her ability to tap into relatability and emotion was on point!

I read this one before, “Fighting Redemption,,“ Ryan, and Findlay’s story. If you’ve read that story, this one is a must!! Usually I’d like you read a connected story i

A heart-hitting blend of emotion and humour…

Spellbound. Lost in the pages. There was no magic or addictive drug. It was a simple story of love, in all its many facets, told with an abundance of humour, emotion and heart. This was my first read by this author and it was just amazing…

There were so many heart-catching things I loved. The characters, oh the lovable, real characters. From Jamie, who tried to keep everyone away as she struggled with grief and a need to find her place in the world. Bea

I am not okay. My heart is so full and the love I have for this book knows no bounds. I don’t know how to move on. I took my time reading this book and I savored every word. The writing was brilliant, the characters were so real, I felt as if I was there watching it all unfold on a big screen. You’ll cry ugly yet beautiful tears, you’ll fall in love with every character, you will be sad when it ends. But most of all, you’ll fall in love!!

This book was beautiful from start to finish and I loved every second of it. I am so happy I was able to immerse myself in it and live in this beautiful tragic world. Thank you Cami for recommending this book to me. I can't imagine not having read this one. It would have been a devastating loss in my books (see what I did there?). I could go on and on about this one but i think quotes will do it best. Enjoy!

This book was without a shadow of a doubt an emotional ride.

Since the beginning I knew it was going to be an epic story, for starters I’m a sucker for military romance…duh. And second, I have read other books of Kate before and have loved them all.

I went into this book completely blind, I didn’t read the blurb or Fighting Redemption (now that I know Ryan and Fin I’m definitely going to read it). You will FEEL this story with your whole heart, It's crazy angsty and so emotionally charged that it
‘Fighting Absolution’ is not quite a conventional romance, so that’s best to get that out of the way at the start. For those who are used to the establishing scene of the protagonists following a particular trope they are familiar with, this tosses all of it out of the window. Maybe I’m one of those, so inured to tropes and straight-up, direct coupledom despite the difficulty the protagonists face getting together. After all, it’s the classification of romance, isn’t it?

It is with a heavy heart that I'm putting forward this rating. This was not a 3 star book! It was much more. I'm not going to be able to explain myself without a thousand spoilers.. I won't, I'm treading carefully.

I cared so deeply about the romance brewing between Jamie and Kyle, and they only had a measly 8% in the beginning. Following that I had so many hopes and dreams for their reunion, and the potential was sky high... By this point, I would have forgiven anything that had come before thi

This was sooo good! Filled with laughter, anticipation, heartache, and so many more warm and fuzzy feelings. The story of Kyle and Jaime was so beautiful that I'm actually at a lost for words.

The author's development of the story and characters was perfect and I felt that with her writing, I was transported into the story while traveling down the coast of Australia or in the combat zone of Afghanistan.

Oh My Word….. this was such a good book. It had all the feels. Full warning though it will make you cry!!! I cried multiple times.

I didn’t know there was a “first” book which is a more indebt look at Ryan & Finlay’s story which I will now read but I don’t think it really matters which one you read first since I sort of gathered they are happening at the same time.

There are so many supporting characters in this book and I loved them all! They helped to give you fun

Court: I have spent life waxing poetic with how much I love Kate McCarthy, her writing, her characters and just everything this woman does...and I legit thought I had reached just about the top the bar that she set for me in which I could love her. I was wrong. This book absolutely slayed the best way possible. I honestly thought that Fighting Redemption could not be topped, because it was an epic tale of love, loss and ahem, redemption. If you’re looking for an amazing Military themed romance, you MUST READ this book!!!! I read the first book, Fighting Redemption, in 2014 and absolutely loved it. 5 years later I still remember all the feels and ugly cries that story instigated, and it remains one of my favorite military romances. It’s no wonder that Fighting Absolution delivered just as many emotions and left me in a muddled mess. And bonus: It can be read as a complete stand-alone.
