What's worse than being stalked by a gargoyle?
Falling in love with one.

Angie's made it her mission to hold onto the home that is last piece of her heritage. But when a mysterious man makes an offer on the life-sized gargoyle in her garden, she quickly discovers her property holds more than sentimental heirlooms. Beneath its stony facade hides a world where legends are more than mythology, and ancient stories have roots from beyond the stars. The stone sentinel that's guarded her family for generations is not only alive—

He's a sexy-as-hell alien who can't leave well enough alone.

Sten’s ship crashed on Earth centuries ago, and he has watched Angie's family for generations, sworn to protect his deceased friend's bloodline. He never understood what could drive a Khargal to break the Prime Directive and fall in love with a human, let alone procreate, but Angie makes Sten consider things beyond mere duty. She's resourceful, funny, and her smile is enough to melt a statue's heart.

And now she's in danger.

Unaware of her alien ancestry, Angie has no idea what's at stake. With enemies closing in, Sten is forced to break the silence he's maintained for centuries. Can he convince this stubborn human she belongs on another world? More importantly, can he convince her she belongs by his side?

Khargals of Duras

A thousand years ago, a Khargal scouting party left Duras, only to crash on a planet called Earth.

Injured and outnumbered, the stranded Khargals hid among stone effigies and observed the slow evolution of the planet’s primitive inhabitants. With no means of returning to Duras, they watched from their shadowy perches and faded into legend, becoming the mythical gargoyles.

Until today. Long after any hope for rescue had died, the distress signal has finally been answered.

It's time to go home.

Oooo another fantastic read from this series.

This story focuses on Angie, a avid gardener who lives in a rundown historical mansion. When she isn’t struggling to redo the house, or working at the local diner..her time is spent in her garden with her heirloom seeds and the family gargoyle... a statue that has resided in the garden for years. He is also the object of her lusty affections.

Turns out the family gargoyle, Sten.. isn’t just a statue but an alien that crush landed a thousand years ago with his crew members...separate to avoid being found...he settled into the role of protector after his friend and fellow Khargal, Graj found a mate and perished trying to keep her and their child safe.. dedicating his life to protecting Graj’s offspring... he finds himself awake after many years with the possibility of his own mate close to hand.... but first he must protect her from the creepy rose syndicate and their evils plans.

I loved the intensity and emotion that developed quickly between Sten and Angie, it was insta love at its finest 🙌🏻💯 And this book captured my attention from the get go.
I really enjoyed this book, it was intriguing and action packed. Sten was a wonderful leading man both protective and nurturing. I liked Angie a lot.. she was very no nonsense and I found that wonderfully refreshing.

Most of all without spoilers... because #NoSpoilers! It threw me a curveball that I wasn’t expecting but found absolutely thrilling! And OMG! that ending was perfect... I love a good epilogue!! 😍😍😍

Interesting

This story was interesting but good. I liked the idea that gargoyles are from another planet. The gargoyle in this story travelled with the family as their guardian angel. It was pretty good.

This is my first time reading a gargoyle shifter paranormal fantasy book. I absolutely fell in love with the main characters; both Sten and Angie had some very interesting chemistry. I specially liked that Sten has been guarding Angie's family for centuries as a duty to his long lost friend. Though their coming together seems a bit rushed for me, the action and mystery behind the forces that want to keep them apart makes up for it. It was a surprise to find how Angie's background affects Sten and explains the uncontrollable instinct to mate in Sten. As with great reads, there is an evil force that wants to tear them apart but they find strength in their bond to make it out alive. And how about that epilogue! I loved it :)

If you're looking for a gargoyle romance? Found it. If you're looking for an alien romance? Found it. This is the first time I've seen these two concepts combined, and I have to say, I enjoyed it. Gargoyles aren't as big as they should be in the paranormal romance genre (in my humble opinion) so I really enjoy when there's a new addition. I have yet to read the others in this 'set', but I look forward to them, especially if Mrs. Ley's contribution is anything to go by.

To review without spoilers...
This is the story of a stranded alien who has spent the last 1000 years guarding the family of a friend who died not long after they crashed on our world. Though his history is tragic, he doesn't let it keep him from hoping for rescue, or from protecting those he's sworn to guard. In a handy twist of fate (gotta love fantasy writing for this little bit alone!), the last of his charges just so happens to be his mate. I love Angie's spunk and zeal for life; she just makes me happy to read about her, and it's even better that she gets to have an amazing mate and make his world brighter too.

They embark on the beginning of their romance amidst danger and hope of recovery, making the road rough, but even better for it. I loved Sten and Angie and also her friend Mae. They made an excellent contrast to the villains. If you want a story with action, heart, a good bit of steam, and whole lot of gargoyle, this is for you! As always, there is an HEA and this story can stand on it's own despite it's inclusion in the 'set' Khargals of Duras.

Angie owns an old house classified an historic site in Old Turnbull. She tends her plants and thriving garden that also has a stone gargoyle that has guarded her family for centuries. Winston York, a member of the Rose Syndicate has discovered Angie's place and gargoyle and offers to buy her property, that begins her problems, York is trouble. The gargoyle comes to life one night when an intruder enters Angie's home and Sten, the gargoyle, comes to protect her. Angie is shocked, but not for long when she talks to Sten and finds out he has been watching over her family for centuries and they feel a connection. Sten has a strong urge to share his "dassa" his mating chemicals that could make them mates for life. Angie has no idea about her lineage but falls for Sten right away. As they get closer and start a relationship, Angie learns that Sten has a handy tail, and knows how to use it! The Rose Syndicate with the urging of York get involved and risks Angie's life as Sten does everything he can to protect her. I enjoyed this sweet and sexy story about centuries of connections with gargoyles/aliens and Angies love for her family history and growing her plants. The connection between Angie and Sten was strong and filled with questions along with affection and understanding. I can't wait to read the rest of the Khargals of Duras stories.

Her 👽Alien Ancestry, Her 👽Alien Love💘

Alpha 👽Alien Male Romance💞 and Adventure
Angie💃💋 is part Khargal! The Gargoyle her family has had in the U.S. For the last two hundred years is her protector Khargal, Sten.
She doesn't have a clue about all that yet or that the pendant she was handed down from her mother is a Khargal sigil! Her father was a hybrid descendant of a Khargal shipmate of Sten. Their ship crashing off the coast of France many hundreds of years ago stranded them on 🌎Earth.

Even in the middle of Montana mining country in the old Victorian house she inherited, the Rose Syndicate finds her and finds her garden Gargoyle, Sten. They are relentless in their pursuit of alien technology.
If they find out she is also an actual Khargal descendant, her life and liberty will also be at risk!

I also got the book with KU.

This is the third book about the Khargals I have read and it is the best, with the best story and writing, yet! Various authors!

Such an exciting story!
With all the fine authors participating in this series, I had high expectations. The books are exceeding those expectations!
I love it! When Sten takes action to protect his friend’s family, it is the start of a rapidly escalating love!
Guess what? Khargals are very protective - especially with their Hondassa. I adore Sten and his loving nature with Angie.
Angie is really a fascinating character. She has plenty of surprises for us. She discovers abilities under stress that she never knew about.
I especially enjoyed the epilogue where we get a glimpse of what happens in the future!

Tamsin Ley wrote a enjoyable story in the series of "Khargals of Duras" that is written by different authors. Sten is one of the Khargals who been guarding Angie's family because they are descendants of his comrade Graf. Angie been struggling to keep the family home when a rich man offers to buy her house. She says "no" but he sends a thief to steal the necklace Angie was wearing. This wakes Sten who's been a statue in her garden and he combats the intruder and Angie comes downstairs with her rifle and shoots Sten. When she sees him she thinks she's dreaming... This has action with the Rose Syndicate who are capturing and experimenting on the Khargals and romance between Sten and Angie plus it's a well written story which made me interested to see the stories written by the other authors in this series. I volunteer to read and review this ARC.

The good news is that Tamsin Ley’s Sticks and Stones (Khargals of Duras, Book 4) can definitely be read as a standalone. The better news is that this story is pretty freaking awesome. I love Angie and Sten’s story. I love how Sten the gargoyle turn out to be a “sexy-as-hell” shipwrecked alien Khargal. Action, adventure and romance. This is a true blast of a story. The only downside? Now (despite this working as a standalone) I’m bummed I haven’t read the first three books in the series. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend.

Angie has no idea that the gargoyle in her garden is real. Sten has watched over Angie's blood line for a thousand years waiting for another ship to rescue him and what is left of his crew. The enemies he has protected her from have found them and now he must try not to break the Prime Directive not to fall in love and have children too bad they did not tell him humans with Khargal blood can be their mates. Now he must see if the sigil he carries is still able to work after all this time. He needs help from his home planet. The enemies that seek him now want Angie and they will not stop until they have her. Sten will do anything to protect his mate. Thank you to Tamsin Ley for the wonderful review copy. Great series. Will go over and see what the other books in this series are like.

A long time to wait.......

Sten and Angie's Story.
He crashed to earth over a thousand years ago, waiting to be rescued.
She's his Hondassa.
A family guardian Gargoyle.
An interaction initiated in a wickedly hot passionate, not really a dream.
The blame game, an apology, an intruder, a prime directive and a pottery eating Khargal.
All this and so much more.
Even though this is a quick easy read, I found it to be a wonderfully well written, fast paced, page turning, couldn't put down, piece of storytelling from the mind of Ms Tamsin Ley, that leaves you wanting more.
This is just 1 in a series of 7 book's being released by some wonderful author's, that I can't wait to sink my teeth into.
I would highly recommend you read the blurb, get the book and enjoy your foray into the life's of the "Khargal's of Duras"
Warning: Very mature Super Hot content.

Wow this is an amazing story I’m not going to give you just a bit of this story because it’s just too good to spoil ok here goes-:. Sten is a gargoyle he has been sitting in front of Angie’s house for centuries he came from another planet called Duras, his ship had crash landed on earth with no hope of rescue he swore to his friend that he would look after Graj’s generations to come. One night Angie was in bed when she heard a crash in her lounge room so she grabbed her father’s old gun and shouted to whoever was there that she had a gun but something big jumped her and the gun went off. Angie turns on the light and found the gargoyle from the front yard bleeding all over the place, there is danger around every corner and there is an agency that knows about the gargoyles and they want Sten and his technology. There you go how’s that?, this is an amazing story a 5 plus ⭐️ read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

This is a good sci-fi alien romance, with a likable couple. It gets 3.5 stars from me, rounded up to 4 stars.

I liked Sten, and thought it was sweet how he had sworn to watch over and protect Angie's family -- simply because they were descendants of one of his fellow Khargals. I liked how Angie immediately understood that Sten was not a monster and would never hurt her.

Sten was a good guy, and very good to Angie. He didn't realize she was his mate until she encountered him while he was not in his stone form, but then he didn't try to rush her into accepting the relationship. He did have trouble understanding her denial that she mated with him, but finally realized that she truly didn't know she had. I think the thing I liked most about him was that he was willing to give her up, and be without his mate, if that was best for her -- he only wanted her to be happy and safe.

For those who care, this book does contain some steamy sex scenes -- which is typical of books from this genre.

My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

This book was so fun to read. It won’t be the last I read from this author: Tamsin Ley. I like an occasional alien romance, but this was the best I’ve read. The story opened with Angie, and I got to know and like her before the gargoyle in her garden, that’s been in her family for over 100 years, comes to life. Angie believes she’s dreaming, so she decides she’d like to have some sexy fun before she wakes up. Unfortunately, a man is on vacation in Montana, where Angie lives, and discovers the garden gargoyle. He happens to be one of a group of people that look for and capture gargoyles. The writing was very clear, and I could see the characters in my mind. There was a great balance between Angie’s life, her relationship with her gargoyle, and the suspense of the fake FBI agents after them. I highly recommend this book.

Engaging read full of danger, sweet hot romance and, well, aliens

I really enjoyed this series opener. This world of 'gargoyles' was so unique for me - imagine them eating your fine china ;) There's fab chemistry between Angie and Sten - both were such likeable characters and shared a history unlike any other. This lead to a steamy romance and really helped them through the difficult times of the Rose Society. Danger abounds but love survives and leads to a new way for both. All round, it was an engaging read and I look forward to meeting more of the Khargals.

Loved it

Another great addition to a great series.
In this we have Angie who is a descendant to the Khargals and while her Khargal grandfather perished years ago defending his mate, his friend Sten has been standing guard over his family line.
But with the Khargal enemy of the Rose Syndicate discovering Sten he comes to life to protect Angie, and discovering his fated mate is no push over.
With suspense, intrigue and a fast paced story line, I quite enjoyed this one and was disappointed that I finished it really quickly....worth the 5 stars

What a great story. There is so much to this story like gargoyles, aliens, intrigue, suspense and other other worldly things. She didn't know were part of her from her ancestors. All she has left is her estate and a guy wants to buy the gargoyle standing out front of it. I won't go into any more detail as it will spoil it for you. I highly recommend it. I received a review copy and voluntarily review it.

I started to read this story with a little hesitation. Gargoyles are good guys? The blurb was the kicker though and I found the loveliest romance ever! Tamsin Ley has done it again, providing a strong narrative, explosive action, and characters that leap off the page. And there is love. What more could a reader want? The ending is perfectly aligned with the story line. If it had been another 100 pages long I’d be happier. But that, for me, is the sign of a darn good book!

Sticks and Stones is a great addition to the series of Khargals. Sten has been watching over Angie's family home and gardens since the crash. York from the Rose Syndicate wants to buy the Gargoyle in the garden. But nothing is for sale. Angie and Sten fall in love and run from the Rose Syndicate so they can go home to Duras. I am really enjoying the Khargals and this story is no exception.

Khargal and the gargoyle fangirl

Most enjoyable HEA romance between the gargoyle in the garden and the girl who owns the historic house and grounds. He's a Khargal, a stone alien whose ship crashed on Earth a millennium ago, and she's.... In love with an alien gargoyle! It's a slightly bittersweet small-town romance with an Area 51 flavor, good guys to root for and bad guys to hiss and boo.

Easy 5 stars. Sten and Angie’s story is a ton of fast paced fun. Great character development and true chemistry between them just makes the gargoyle side more interesting. I adore Tamsin Ley’s alien stories so I was very hopeful for this one going in and it was not a disappointment. Fun, fast read. Plan enough time to read it to the end—you won’t want to put it down. I’m going after the other books in this series based on how much I liked this one. Highly recommend.

So good!

I really liked this story. I loved Angie and Sten. I felt really bad for Sten being lost for so long. The story is fast paced and action packed. I would love to see these characters again including Mae. I won an advanced copy of the book, but I loved it so much I had to buy it. Highly recommend!!

Another awesome read by Tamsin Ley! Sticks and Stones is a wonderful story about the love that develops between a gargoyle (Khargal) and his 'human' charge that he has sworn to protect. I would recommend this book, as I can't wait to read what happens next! I received this book free as an arc and I willingly leave this review!!

Now this series is definitely getting my attention. Sten and Angie had to go through so much. But at the end they had what was so much worth to fight for that freedom they so were looking and needed. I hope that in the future there will be more of the khargals and the description of their world as well.

What a great book! Very well written. I was hooked from the beginning. Sten guarded the family line of his friend. Then one day, by accident, an analyst for the Syndicate, found him. He got hurt protecting Angie and she found out about him and her past. Everything hit the fan when she bit him and released her dussa. I can not wait to read the next book in the series.
