“You may be faking the relationship, but you’re not faking the orgasms.” Downsized, broke, and dumped, 38-year-old Marley sneaks home to her childhood bedroom in the town she couldn’t wait to escape twenty years ago. Not much has changed in Culpepper. The cool kids are still cool. Now they just own car dealerships and live in McMansions next door. Oh, and the whole town is ...more

If you love entertaining, heart-warming and funny books – this is the book for you.

I’m not usually into rom-coms but some author’s just work for me – and this author’s humor is right up my alley. Never too over the top, and without her characters being embarrassingly stupid, the humor was always just right, and the entire novel easily checked all my boxes – Rock Bottom Girl was a HIT!!

I laughed out loud – and got some strange looks from the people at the hair salon – grinned some more,

I wish I'd had a teacher like Jake...

I had the most amazing reading day today. I managed to get the washing, cleaning and shopping done AND start and finish a fabulous book. Actually, I'd have to say it was an amazing weekend of reading. Two 5-star books in one weekend are what every reader dreams of. Rock Bottom Girl took me on an emotional journey of highs and lows and left me with a big goofy smile.

Marley has hit rock bottom and returned to her childhood home with her tail between her legs. B

Well color me surprised!

I went into Rock Bottom Girl hoping for a little fun and a little steam. What I got was a story i found myself relating to on so many levels with an awesome dose of humor and fun thrown in for good measure.

Marley's a heroine I can get behind. Thirty eight and still searching for her place in the world, she served as a gentle and fun reminder that we don't have to have it all figured out by an arbitrary date or age. Jake, in all his cross country coaching, history

Things I'd rather do than go back to high school: copy the Magna Carta onto a chalkboard using only my fingernails, have a daily gynecological exam for a year, or wear a meat suit and go jogging in bear country, just to name a few. Marley Cicero feels the same way, and even coming back as an adult coach and teacher doesn't take the sting out--nor does the fact that her whole life seems to be collapsing around her ears. The same cast of characters as her senior year are all still there, from her ...more blog~

Have you ever read a book that you could relate to so well that it gave you anxiety? Rock Bottom Girl did that for me. I believe there are four types of high school experiences. One being you loved high school and everything about it. The second being you absolutely hated it. The third being you pretended you loved it when you actually hated it. And finally, the fourth being you have both good and bad experiences. That's me. I fall into the third category with a touch of the third. High school w ...more

“I liked the way it felt when our skin brushed. There was something chemical there. A reaction every single time.” Rock Bottom Girl, Lucy Score

This book was RomCom perfection!!

To start, the Rom(antic) portion was epic with sweet, sizzling, off the charts chemistry between Marley and Jake! Jake is the perfect book boyfriend from the beginning and exactly what Marley needs to help her grow and move on.

The Com(edy) had me laughing out loud the entire time! It’s so hard to pick a favorite part when

At 38 you hit what you perceive as rock bottom and have to move back to your home town to live with your parents. What could be worse? Working at the high school you couldn't get away from fast enough after graduation, AND coaching a girls soccer team that rivals that of the bad news bears. Poor pitiful Marley, who views herself as the town pariah for some screw up at her homecoming, now gets to walk the halls of high school surrounded by so many memories. Marley runs into her past crush Jake *s ...more

Completely Invested
An epic story about personal declarations of independence! I was completely invested in Jake and Marley’s story, in them as a couple and individually. I’ve never wanted a heroine to succeed more! I wanted her to win a soccer game, earn her student’s respect, let go of her own high school horrors, win the love of the town George Clooney, but most of all I wanted Marley Cicero to belief in herself.
That town George Clooney hero Jake Weston? Wow. He’s as close to perfect as you c

Long review, but here's the cliffs notes: Read.This.Book.Today.

Here's what I love about Lucy Score. She's one of few authors that paint an absolute picture with her words. The description of Jessica, Marley's mother, made me cry - it was written with so much love and I felt like how a baby egg animal imprints on the first animal it sees. I had a very kindred relationship to Jessica! I have a lot more to say but that really stuck out to me and I had to say something.

This book could be dedicated to anyone who has ever lain awake at night with a replay of their lowlights reel playing in their head. It is an amazing book so many can relate to. I fell in love with these characters from the very beginning and couldn’t get enough! The mix of humor, love, and reality are the perfect combination.

Marley is a woman who has been knocked down more than a few times. Life certainly hasn’t gone the way she hoped, but at almost 40 she still hasn’t given up. While she may h

This book!! Oh my me!! I am beating myself up for never scoring a Lucy Score book till now!

Rock Bottom Girl is everything I love in a romance!  You get smoking hot smexiness, you get a fabulous heroine and hero and above all you get laughs, genuine laugh out loud moments!  In fact I laughed out loud so much that my husband (who in no way reads) wanted me to read some parts of this story out loud and he got a good chuckle too!  That in itself is a stellar review!

This story of Marley and Jake is
5 Stars! FREAKING LOVED IT!!! Hilarious LMAO moments, bittersweet, sexy fun. I love this author and can't wait to read her latest. I think this was her best yet (Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner). It was like one of those feel good movies.

It's back to high school 20 years later and way too many old memories still haunt Marley and turn her inside out. But on the plus side there's Jake, oh Jake, how I loved Jake. Could he be any more perfect for Marley. I loved how he called her "Mars". A-d-o-r-a-b

Have you ever read a book and thought “this should be a movie”.....well this book should be. Marley thinks her life is going nowhere and that things couldn’t get worse. She thinks her sister and her arch nemesis from high school have it all which makes her feel even more like a loser in the game of life. In this day and age of social media it’s easy to think everyone has it better than you but that’s because they choose to show only the good parts of their life. It takes Marley a while to realiz ...more

Jake and Marley's journey included fun, steaminess, romance, tons of laughs, mild angst, and a good helping of self-worth issues. The high school bad boy turned sexy, tattooed teacher? YES, PLEASE! Where do I sign up? Jake is genuinely kind, insanely attractive, and connects with students in a way that I wish all teachers could. He is a bit of a slob but for some reason, I really enjoyed visualizing him living it up like a messy college kid with his dog.

Marley and Jake are older characters and I love that they are not young college kids! Rock Bottom Girl is all about what happens when you aren't a cool kid in high school and the lasting feelings that can happen to a person. Especially someone who moved out of their small home town, but ends up going home feeling like they haven't accomplished their life goals. Even when high school is long behind you some of that doubt can live inside your mind and insecurities, but what if you had the chance t ...more

I received an ARC of this book for an honest review. I LOVED this book! Marley is an amazing heroine. It was really entertaining to see her gain her confidence as she is confronted with insecurities and enemies from her past. It was often hilarious, too. Jake is really likable, too. A man, who while completely grown, often acts like a puppy stumbling over his big feet. It was really great seeing him help Marley adjust to her new/old surroundings. Another great story! Jake and Marley were a hoot. I enjoyed not only their cute story but all the antics that kept me laughing constantly. Being a Pennsylvanian, I sure enjoyed the references to Lebanon bologna, Blue Ball, and Tastykakes 😉. Seeing Marley finally see her worth was awesome. Keep those books coming.❤❤ I received this arc for an honest review. ...more

Rock Bottom Girl is a tale of second chances, self-discovery and delivers a timely message that no one’s life is perfect. Throw in a delicious hero and a fake relationship that starts to feel all to real and you have a very enjoyable romantic comedy filled with Lucy Score’s trademark humour and mad cap small town antics.

There is so much to enjoy in this story: dreamy hero, straight talking best friend, long standing nemisis and a rag tag teen girls soccer team that need to learn how to be a tea

One of my favorite characteristics of Lucy's writing is the ability to intertwine beautiful life lessons into her books. She also lays subliminal opportunities to take stock in your own beliefs and self image. Although this story was an enjoyable rom-com (it's Lucy), what really stood out was the message.
This book is for any of us, or all of us really who always want "more." Who. never think we are good enough, or big enough, or enough of anything. With the right amount of love and the correct

Every so often, you read a book that totally gets you. The characters are people you already know, the situations ones you’ve been in and the place where you grew up. Rock Bottom Girl was this book for me. This isn’t just a romance, or a comedy, or a book you’ll pick up one day and read because you’ve a bit of time. It’s one that stays with you because it’s about people. Lucy takes the Every Woman, the Every Man, the Every Bitch and the Every Underdog and explores how stereotypes are only that o ...more

This book is pure RomCom gold! I love all Lucy Score's books but this one is extra special.

The mean girls, the gym classes, the unrequited crushes....Marley has been there and done that 20 years ago. Now, dumped, fired and homeless she has to relive those high school days at 38. Except this time she's the teacher and the coach...and she has Jake Weston by her side.

I devoured this book and then mourned because it was over. And I spent 20 minutes wondering what to write here because what I reall

Omg hilarious! I loved it. Mars is a riot and Jake... ugh what a guy! At first I was a little annoyed at the oh poor me attitude if Marley, she needed to open her eyes and take charge of her own life. But I loved watching her grow into the person she was meant to me. The way Jake saw who she was from the beginning and his opinion never changed was perfect and just want she needed, someone to believe in her just the way she was. I loved the girls soccer team. Lucy Score is a small-town rom-com genius

What can I say about this Lucy Score classic? I'm obviously a big fan of Lucy's novels. I've read them all. What makes a Lucy Score classic in my eyes?

1. Romance (obviously), but not just over-the-top big sell romance. Romance in the small moments, and the whispered comments, and the ordinary acts of the every day.
2. Feisty heroines that know their own mind, don't take any bull, and stand up for themselves and their loved ones (include their heroes).

My praise and love for this book cannot be stated enough, but I'm going to try.

"Ninety percent of people remember high school as a miserable experience."

I think the above quote is one of the reasons, this book is so relatable. When Marley returns to her hometown of Culpepper, broke, single and thrown into a job at her old high school; she thinks everyone had a wonderful high school experience, except her. She fears that everyone remembers that "thing" she did at Homecoming, and hates her for it.

Who says you can't have a do-over?!
This story is a second-chance at high school as much as a second-chance love story.
And a little bit of taking a second-look at what you think you want out of life.
Rock Bottom Girl is one of those stories that makes you relate to one or a little bit of all the characters throughout the story. I loved the journey Marley goes through and the awakenings she has along the way. It is great how Marley's high school-crush, Jake, is the one to help her along this journ

Solid 4.5 stars novel. For some, high school is a great experience, for others, such as our heroine Marley, high school was tough. Marley left her home town immediately after high school to go to college and never returned. Fast forward 20 years and Marly, at 38, finds herself at rock bottom with no choice but to move in with her parents. Marley has not been able to move forward at all in her life, she spends a lot of time inwardly reflecting instead observing her environment. She’s 38 but menta ...more

Lucy is a Wall Street Journal and #1 Amazon Kindle Store bestseller. She grew up in rural Pennsylvania with a lot of time on her hands and a big imagination. She was the oldest of three in a literary household. Dinners were often spent in silence while family members had their noses buried in books. A passion for writing took hold at five when she taught her brother to write his name on the bathro ...more
