The History of For Big Fans and Little Punks is a magical mystery tour through popular music history, featuring trailblazing acts from the 1950s to the present. Colorful, stylish illustrations bring to life artists like Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie, Joan Jett, and Madonna, plus bands such as The Beatles, The Clash, Beastie Boys, and Pearl Jam, all of whom have inspired countless boys and girls to become musicians over the past 70 years.
I loved this book. I found it informative but also fun and easy to absorb. It provides just enough information for youngins to get interest in different genres of music without becoming overwhelming. The illustrations are bright and captivating. I enjoyed all the artists represented too. Would definitely reccomend to a music loving human, regardless of age.
This book needs another look at from an editor. There were so many sentences that I tripped over and had to reword in order to make sense.
Many bands had similar blurbs that felt forced and gave no actual information about the band or their music. It had me questioning why they were mentioned or who they even are?
Overall, my rock obsessed kid enjoyed it. She had fun looking up some of the music.
This was a cute book and had some interesting "tid-bits" attached to several bands. I was disappointed Weezer was merely mentioned in a side panel of "other bands worth mentioning". I did, however, appreciate that they listed bands somewhat by genre. That was nice. Overall, this book is a good start to learning about rock bands and some of the origins of the genre.
A good book about rock, well written and well researched. There's plenty of info about the artists and it can be be appreciated by adults too. An interesting read. Recommended Many thanks to the publisher and Edelweiss for this ARC, all opinions are mine.
