A river overflows with secrets and ghosts of the past… Will it reveal what they seek?

The day the Pearse woman was pulled from the river, Deputy Tim Whitaker knew this was a make or break case. He worked his whole career cracking the hard ones. Why can’t he catch a break? He should have known it might get complicated with a much-loved local as the primary suspect and a second man that everyone has seen but no one knows. All he needs is one clue, one thing to bring her closure.

Captain Savanna McCormick needs closure - the kind she provides for other families thanks to her partner Max, her K9 cadaver dog. Too bad she can’t get her own. Her parents’ disappearance may no longer be a newsworthy item, but the still-open case is always on her mind, especially now she has custody of her younger brother. Chaperoning a field trip forces her to confront her worst fears; returning to Washington, NC where her parents were last seen.

A special assignment brings them together while the job keeps them apart. Will the Pamlico River prove to be their toughest adversary? Can they work together and solve the case before the Pamlico washes it all away and hides its secrets forever?

After reading Drenched Sunflowers and falling in love with the story, town, and characters I was excited to read the sequel. Now I'm ready for 20 more books or more!! I really enjoyed this series.

A much anticipated continuation of Drenched Sunflowers that did not disappoint. New characters were added, while continuing to expand on those in the first book. Enjoying the romance, mystery and historical aspects of this book. A little of everything. Looking forward to book number three.

Such a great story takes off from the last book and carries on the history and story. This was the other book I could not put down. Can’t wait to read the next one. The series is so amazing between the history of my hometown and the mysteries. There are not many books that could get my attention but hers have my husband would call to tell me good night and I’d be up even when he got home reading on this book. I’m not much of a reader but boy these by far the best books.

There is improvement in the writing between book 1 and book 2 that makes this one flow much better. It was easier to get into and see to the end. Perhaps a series for Washington, NC locals who love the downtown area as it makes it seem like there is a lot more happening there than there actually is.

This is the second book in The Water Street Chronicles series. After reading the first book, I was definitely interested to see what else this series had to offer.

Starting with the cover. This is a very beautiful cover seeing a man with handcuffs making you wonder if someone did something wrong and will be getting arrested. You also see beautiful flowers on the front of the cover which makes you wonder if they play a part in this book.

This book is definitely a little bit different then Drenched Sunflowers, this book is a little bit faster paced with more mystery while still having our two main characters Beth and Sam playing pivotal roles throughout the story.

I absolutely loved the historical aspects this book had to offer. There were a few thriller events that occurred, which had me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happens next. What I loved most about this book was seeing a cadaver dog being used, because they are able to locate things that are even thousands of years old. As always, Tammera's writing was fabulous. She definitely knows how to combine historical fiction with mystery-thriller in a way that the book world has never seen before. You do have to read drenched sunflowers first but you will absolutely love this series.

I highly recommend this book and the series to anyone who loves historical fiction combined with the right amount of mystery. I am looking forward to the third book in the series!!!!!
