A book about a bunch of guys creating a book club to read romance as they try to understand their wives better? Oh this is going to be hilarious!
update: after reading a really shit romance book immediately after this, i’ve realised it was an absolute gem and deserved a higher rating. that’s all.

Just like the bar for heterosexual men treating their wives with respect, my standards for romance books are low. However, I do think this is an exceptional, hilariously sweet rom-com with subtle feminism embedded within the plot. In my opinion, it's a stand-out in its genre.

You'll love this book if you want:

3.5-4 stars! You have NO IDEA how excited I was for this book. A group of baseball players getting together to read and talk about romance books? How perfect. There were scenes from the guys that had me genuinely laughing out loud and I did enjoy Gavin and Thea's second chance romance. They were funny, down to earth, and both had issues to work through in order to get their second HEA. The only issue for me was that parts of the story were too meta – the book club constantly referred back to the ...more

Thank you, Berkley, for giving me an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

He was a different man than he'd been before book club. He recognized his own faults and shortcomings.

This is hands down the funniest book I've read this year. Out of the 29 novels, it's the only one that made me laugh out loud in the car while my big brothers were having a moment of comfortable silence. I rarely read New Adult fiction, but witty and hilarious stories like this might change that fact.

Seriously, this is how the book goes. I thought that this would be a light, funny romance. Unfortunately, while the premise was absolutely ridiculous in the best way, the book took itself way too seriously. Not to mention the book gets awfully serious in parts which just didn't vibe with me with the wacky premise. I took a chance on this book, and it definitely didn't hit a home run.

This book surprised me and knocked me off my feet. Thea and Gavin marry after a quick romance where she falls pregnant. Three years later she tells him she has been faking organisms. Gavin has a stutter and is massively insecure. His best friend Del introduces him to a book club where men read romance to confront their own toxic masculinity. It is impossible to read this and not fall in love with Gavin. I related to Thea’s backstory as my own is similar. Mack definitely needs his own book.

this was super cute! very quick read and tons of fun. love the idea of the book club and loved all the characters. there's a couple of steamy scenes but nothing over the top. 3rd person POV but we hear from both MCs - these are things i was curious about before starting so thought i'd share now. definitely recommend! waffling between 4 and 5 stars, will make my mind up soon-ish. i had a great time reading it :)

Hilarious, but also emotional and real. I absolutely LOVED this unique story. This couple is awesome, their kids are awesome, and the book club? Well, those guys are beyond awesome! All I’m saying is we better get Mack’s story!

This book was so sweet and endearing and funny and hot. It had me laughing out loud and fanning myself and crying at times.

I love Gavin so freaking much!!!! He’s a bit clueless at the beginning but with the help of his friends he finds his way in the end. I love how Gavin grows through the course of this book. He’s open and willing to accept advice no matter how reluctant he is about it at first. He loves Thea so much and he’s unwilling to give up on their relationship.

I love how they both end

This was okay but I didn't love it.

First of all, I am super confused about their two children. I'm relatively sure based on the timeline in the book that they got married 3 years ago and she was pregnant at the time. Which would make the twins MAYBE 2.5 years old. But they go to school? 2.5 year olds don't go to school. I mean, even pre-school, you generally have to be at least 3 and potty trained and these girls are definitely not 3. Although their vocabularies are probably of 4 year olds. SO
This was SO much fun. I ended up reading the second half in one sitting. It was so full of chemistry and a really great supporting cast. I loved the importance of both characters needing to do some work and the excerpts from the romance novel Gavin was reading were amazing. This isn't a new favorite, but I am excited to see what's next from Lyssa Kay Adams.

Thanks to Goodreads and Berkley Romance for the ARC!

When I first read the concept behind this book, I laughed and thought it was awesome. A men's book club that reads romance to understand women better - I mean, it is very funny! A bit unrealistic, maybe, but that's what fiction is all about :) I was right with my initial feelings; there are some very funny moments in this book.

Parts of this were highly relatable, and it was so refreshing to read a book about a married couple working on some real issues. It didn't feel overly angsty, the issues

I have always wondered why men don’t read more romance novels to better understand what women want. Reading this genre would give them tips on what to say and do to win over most women. Men could then use this knowledge for good or for evil. The men in The Bromance Book Club are using their knowledge gained from reading romance novels for good. They want to save relationships with their wives and girlfriends and help other men too.

Thea and Gavin had a whirlwind courtship, quickly married after

The Bromance Book Club by Lyssa Kay Adams was a great and funny read. (I would buy it at full price- that says a lot because I do not usually buy something unless it is on sale or I have a coupon hahaha) It is set in the prospective of a group of men who have all had trouble in their marriage. This group of Nashville professional athletes and businessmen started a book club to help them understand and communicate with their wives. I squealed when I saw this land on my kindle and knew I had to pick it up right away! I flew through this so fast, I couldn’t get enough of seeing what was going to happen between Gavin and Thea! It’s hilarious, sweet, angsty and full of great characters. I knew I had to read this as soon as I read what it was about and it didn’t disappoint.

I am a bit torn reviewing this. I really LOVED parts of this novel, but it left something to be desired. I was a bit skeptical of the 'Bromance Book Club', it sounded odd and weird and I figured I would be more into the characters' relationship than the club, but wow I was wrong. The men in this club are HILARIOUS. They say everything that women want men to say. I will say it is a bit unrealistic, but this is fiction so I was here for it. You can clearly tell this was written by a woman. My

4.5 stars. I first heard about this book on The Wicked Wallflowers Club podcast and was immediately intrigued by the premise: men read romance in order to get their relationships back on track. I’m delighted to say this lived up to the description! It’s a true romcom with plenty of heart.

When second baseman Gavin’s wife kicks him out of the house, he’s miserable but has no idea what to do until a few of his teammates come to the rescue. Their solution: a top secret romance book club made up of N

Gavin and Thea rushed into marriage and now three years later it’s catching up with them. Thea wants divorce and Gavin is willing to do anything to win her back but is that enough? Thea also has to work through her troubled childhood to be able to fully engage in her marriage.

Somewhere in the middle of this book I had to pause and see if the author had written any other books yet. I'm happy to say she has, and I am looking forward to reading them.

Reading Gavin and Thea's story was a fun way to spend an afternoon. I love a romance that makes me laugh out loud and this one did that. There was a light-hearted slapstick element to the imagery and interactions between characters that I enjoyed. There was also just enough personal vulnerability and introspection that both

I requested an ARC of tis book because I thought the title and the cover were good. It turns out, everything is good: the story, the humor, the characters... I'm happy that giving into my impulses turned out great this time :D

This book is super fluffy and absolutely perfect for when you need tooth-rotting sweetness in book form. It does get smutty so do be aware of that but otherwise be prepared for fluff with just a touch of angst. I really enjoyed the chapters that were written as though they were the regency romance the character is reading. I don't read much regency myself but it was a clever way to show what the character was lear
