This is the first in my life that I got confused what I felt about a book and went back and forth between giving five or three stars. It’s like black and white but there were no grey areas about this book. But then I decided to give three stars.

This is not about writing. Actually the author was so talented enough to touch my soul, heart, mind at

This book hit me in the feels and then kicked me in the gut... hard! Colleen Oakley, WOW! What an emotional ride you took me on with your evocative storytelling! A beautiful story about marriage, grief, and fate. Have you ever had a dream and wondered what it meant? What if you dreamed about the same person over and over and over again? And then you met that person? Would you think that it was faded? Mia is happily married to Harrison. After the couple relocates to a small town in Pennsylvania ...more

Evocative, distressing, & absolutely heart-wrenching!

YOU WERE THERE TOO by COLLEEN OAKLEY is a moving, intense, emotional, and an original love story that was quite the emotive and beautiful book to read. I was immediately intrigued and sucked into the narrative and absolutely loved the mysterious dream aspect to the storyline which had a slight supernatural vibe to it.

The tale is original and fresh! Something that I have definitely never read before. I was totally invested and all in the

Wow, talk about a crazy, thought-provoking, emotional ride!

Mia and her husband move to Hope Springs, a small Pennsylvania town, to escape personal and professional disasters. But while Harrison takes a job as a surgeon at the local hospital, Mia can’t seem to find anything to occupy her time or her mind, which makes her worry about her pregnancy, her third after two miscarriages. An artist, she also can't seem to find the focus to create anything new.

She is also troubled by her dreams. Since she

You Were There Too explores love, commitment connections, chances, fate and what-ifs. It's a beautiful love story, and the more I think about it in more ways than one.

Our main characters here married couple Mia and Harrison experience challenges due to the heartache they experience as a couple. Each of them also has their conflicts within themselves. Mia has a secret and she literally meets the man of her dreams who is not Harrison. The man from her dreams has been dreaming of her too. The

An emotional start that slowly fizzled out.

This book wasn’t what I expected. The writing was good, the characters were vivid, but the storyline was lacking. I enjoyed the novel, but didn’t love or truly connect with it. What started off strong and promising, became slow and lacklustre.

I read and loved this author, Colleen Oakley’s, book Close Enough To Touch. Perhaps my expectations were set too high after loving that one so much. I really enjoyed this book up to the 50% mark and then
Though the majority of the books that I read and review fall into the suspense/mystery/thriller category, I read any book that has a premise which intrigues me...

This was one of those.

Mia loves her husband Harrison.

But, she has recurring dreams of another that she has never met.

Until, one day, when she comes face to face with the stranger in her dreams and discovers that his name is Oliver, and he has been dreaming about her too.

YOU WERE THERE TOO was a wonderful, heartbreaking book. It was one that I couldn't wait to get back to, while at the same time dreading that it will end. I knew going in, with that premise, how could it not be a tearjearker? And it was, for sure, though surprisingly in a different way than I expected. The characters are genuine and flawed, and I cared deeply about them. This is a gripping story about love and fate, dreams and their meanings, and about what is and what could have been. Unique and ...more

4.5 stars rounded up. In real life, I don’t believe in psychics or premonitions or give much weight to dreams, but the joy of a well-written novel is that I can suspend disbelief and see where the story takes me.

I wasn’t particularly interested in the storyline about Mia wanting a baby and her grief over having several miscarriages because I feel like I’ve read that many times before. What makes this story interesting is that Mia keeps having these dreams about a man she’s never met, until she

Not the way I wanted this one to go... this ending killed me.
The story left me with definite mixed feelings to a degree. It’s even somewhat of a difficult story to explain other than it has to do with dreams.

Have you ever dreamt of a person or situation and then it came true? Or maybe you had a déjà vu experience before. That’s usually from a dream that you probably didn’t remember.

I love Colleen Oakley’s books, and I have been awaiting this new release! You Were There Too did not disappoint.

Mia Graydon appears to have it all with a loving husband and the plans of starting a family together. The problem is she keeps having dreams of the same man, a man who is not her husband. A man she doesn’t know.

When she moves to Pennsylvania, she runs into this stranger, only to find out he’s been dreaming of her, too.

Digging into their pasts, Mia is determined to find out what is

This is my first read from Colleen Oakley and my emotions were all over the place! This one features Mia and her husband Harrison, a doctor. They’ve just moved to a small Pennsylvania town and Mia, an artist, is trying to get settled.

They’ve been struggling to start a family and her husband doesn’t think he can watch her go through another miscarriage. This has led to a great deal of strain on their marriage. I was really rooting for them to make it!

Pensive, fresh, and absolutely heart-wrenching!

You Were There Too is a moving, mysterious tale that takes us into the life of Mia Graydon, a young, married woman struggling with the recent move to a small-town, a marriage strained by multiple miscarriages and stressful careers, secrets, depression, and the sudden real-life appearance of the man of her dreams.

The prose is heartfelt and immersive. The characters are flawed, troubled, and genuine. And the multi-layered, unpredictable plot is an

A friend recently gave me this book and told me to not make any snap judgments after reading the blurb on the back - she knows I am not a big fan of books focusing on magical realism and/or telepathic, prophetic dreams and not even a big reader of the romance genre. I agreed and must say that I was pleasantly surprised and charmed by this book!

Admittedly, I read a few reviews prior to reading it, and thought it might end up being a "cheating-is-okay-because-he's-my-dream-soulmate," book, but it

The only reason why I decided to read this book, since I don’t tend to request ARCs of contemporary romances, was that I got to read one of the author’s previous books, Close Enough to Touch, which I enjoyed tremendously. And I am so happy that once again I ventured out of my comfort zone and read this book. This turned out to be so much more than just another romance book. One of the things that I really loved about this story is the topic of dream interpretations, psychics, and premonitions. ...more

I finished You Were There Too late, late last night as I needed to know how this emotional and thought-provoking book ended. My initial reaction was, "Huh? That's it? Over?" And I decided not to write my review and thought it best to let the story of Mia and her two loves percolate. I now come back to the table with a stronger review than I would have written if I had rushed to it last night. The premise of two people who may or may not be destined for one another having each been dreaming of ...more

This is a book that left me conflicted and struggling for quite some time trying to sort out how I felt about the story and its characters. When I read the summary and understood the premise of the story would be about a woman who repeatedly sees the same man in her dreams and then upon meeting him in real life, she finds out he sees her in his dreams as well, the first thought that popped into my head was that this would perhaps be yet another love story involving time-travel. I’ve

What initially appealed to me about this book was the metaphysical dream element. The meeting of souls through the dream world and the possible meaning behind it. Could two people know each other before they ever really meet? Are we predestined to be drawn to one person over any other in our lifetime, or is everything purely circumstance and chance? The idea of a

I had high hopes for this read. I saw the big heap of high praise and couldn't wait to read it. I just can't get into it. There isn't anything really "wrong" with this, but I'm bored. I took a break from it for a few weeks hoping to try again, but I have no real desire to pick it up again.

It started well enough and I liked the characters, but nothing is really happening to further engage me. I'm not connecting with the story and I feel like it's definitely more me than the book. I do

I love the premise of this one, the whole reoccurring dream thing actually fascinates me to no end and this took that idea to a whole new level. It definitely requires the reader to be open minded and just take the book for what it is, but if you can just go with the flow and be open to strange happenings and odd coincidences you may enjoy it.

Based on the description alone I really expected this one to be highly emotional and gut wrenching and I felt like for the majority of the book I was

Wow! I was completely captured by this book. I read it in two sittings, couldn’t put it down. The characters are so well written. You feel their struggles, their ups and downs. You understand every side of arguments, you feel the love and frustration. This deals heavily with infertility and miscarriages so be warned going in. I wasn’t able to predict what would happen and I loved that. It also made me think a lot about fate or chances and how human lives can intersect in an eerie way. I loved it ...more

Wow I’m not sure where to even start with this one because I was not expecting that twist and I’m just super emotional about it all!

I resonated with a lot of this book the vivid dreams and the raw emotions of a miscarriage the author did an amazing job detailing all of this. I really struggled with the borderline infidelity in this book though I usually hate it I found myself rooting for the other guy for a large portion of the book but once I the issue in the marriage was discovered I was back

I couldn't put You Were There Too by Colleen Oakley down this weekend. I'm completely drawn to the idea of prophetic dreams or telepathic dreams, having experienced some unexplainable ones myself. It was interesting to see the author's take on it, which gave this story a bit of a magical realism feel. I've been anxious to read this book for months! I was denied for it on Netgalley and have been pining for the story ever since.

I will admit, I was slightly worried this would be a cheating novel
