This is the first in my life that I got confused what I felt about a book and went back and forth between giving five or three stars. It’s like black and white but there were no grey areas about this book. But then I decided to give three stars.

4.5 stars rounded up. In real life, I don’t believe in psychics or premonitions or give much weight to dreams, but the joy of a well-written novel is that I can suspend disbelief and see where the story takes me.

I wasn’t particularly interested in the storyline about Mia wanting a baby and her grief over having several miscarriages because I feel like I’ve read that many times before. What makes this story interesting is that Mia keeps having these dreams about a man she’s never met, until she d

This review will be a little different. Maybe a little “story-telling-ish”. For that, I am sorry. If you only like to read about opinions on a book, or why I loved / didn’t love a book, I’d maybe skip this review of mine.

Firstly: You Were There Too was electrifying. Jarring. Captivating. And raw. If you like the types of books that Taylor Jenkins Reid writes— you will devour this one. It was FULL of characters with depth. Full of them. I thought the author did a fantastic job with the relations

Oh my, this book! I haven't cried reading a book in years (since Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, truth be told), but this one put a giant ache in the middle of my chest.

Whatever your beliefs are with regard to psychics, premonitions and the like, remember suspension of disbelief when you pick up this beautiful novel. It's worth it.

The story centers on Mia, her husband Harrison and the mystery man she's been dreaming about since she was a teen. A couple of chance encounters and it'

I discovered Colleen thanks to her debut (Before I Go), which made me cry and laugh and ugly cry-laugh, so I couldn't wait to get my hands on You Were There Too. The story begins on a brilliant premise: two strangers who know each other through dreams, one of them happily married to another man until their lives intersect. Colleen is brilliant at creating real-life characters and injecting the most heart-rending subjects with an unexpected and dry humor. And the ending! OMG the ending was so emo ...more

This may be one of my favorite reads from our upcoming list; I sat in my car for half an hour - balling – this morning, because I couldn’t put it down.

There haven’t been too many effective titles that well characterized ups and downs in a marriage. So many highlight the lusty start or the devastating end, but the challenges that come along the way are often overlooked. Oakley does a bang up job tackling the cathartic roller coaster, plus she adds this really delightful déjà vu element that brin

Colleen Oakley, I don’t even know where to start, how to put my feelings into words. First off, I had to stop the flow of tears, my heart alternating between beating out of my chest, to stopping altogether. This book is stunningly beautiful, poignant, complex and unpredictable. First of all, the characters, starting with Mia, who might be one of the most confused, complex, and warm-hearted characters ever. My own emotions echoed hers, as she experienced grief, loneliness, wonder—a woman who love ...more

This lovely novel tricks you into thinking it's a simple story about a woman who has reoccurring dreams about a man she's never met, only to meet him and discover that he's dreaming of her. However, this book is so much more than that, and I don't want to say too much, because the ending of this book is so emotional and so perfect, and I don't dare say anything that could spoil it.

The characters are well developed, and I appreciate how everyone is flawed (including the main character Mia), but

Review copy courtesy of Edelweiss.

This book ends up being more for Jodi Picoult fans than it starts out sounding. The book is a supernatural story that is about a woman who has been dreaming for years about a man, and she finally sees him in real life when she’s moved to smalltown Pennsylvania. Too bad she’s already married to another, perfect man! The book was long on the dramatic longing and short on the pleasant scenes for this reader.

Trigger Warning: Violence. I don't want to give anything away so I'll keep this vague.

This book ripped my heart out and tore it into tiny pieces. It has such a creative premise but I didn't feel completely satisfied with the ending. It was just too.MUCH. I can't say more than that but it literally made my heart hurt and felt a little emotionally manipulative.

I will definitely think about it for a long time which, to me, is the hallmark of a good book.

When you think of love and romance what comes to your mind?
Is it perfection? Is it hard work? Is it flawed and imbalanced?
What I enjoyed about this new work from the amazing Colleen Oakley is the unexpected outcomes throughout this story.
They say actions lead to consequences. Hell you make your bed you must lie in it and all that goodness yet for these characters they were strong till their last days.

According to Time magazine, 62 people have been killed in mass shootings in 2019.
The above statement is significant. You Were There Too, while essentially about dreams, their meanings and effect on us, takes place under the omnipresent cloud of such an event.
Mia and Harrison are living what many would consider an idyllic existence. He’s a doctor, she is an artist. At the outset they seem to be handling the vagaries of their careers successfully. Except that Mia has recurring dreams, not always

This is essentially the story about the life of young married couple who live in a small town in Pennsylvania. Harrison Graydon is a Doctor. He loves his wife and, for the most part, life is good except for his emotional trauma over the death of one of his patients during a routine appendectomy. Mia, his wife, is also a happy with her life except that her latest attempt to have a baby ended once more in a miscarriage and her career as an artist is not going anywhere.

But there is more. The focus

All I can say about this book is wow.. it’s a heartwarming, and sometimes heartbreaking story of a woman, Mia, who is married to a surgeon, Harrison, and they are trying to start a family. But she suffers several miscarriages. Which puts a strain on their relationship. But she hides a secret she’s never told anyone, she’s dreamed about the same man, a stranger, since she was a teenager. After moving to a small town, she happens to run into him. And soon

Happily married, Mia is living an envious life. An artist who is free to pursue her career passions, married to a doctor who adores her, and recently moved to an idyllic small town, she seems to have it all. Except she desperately wants a child. And she also keeps having inconvenient dreams about a stranger. A stranger who she happens to meet through her husband... and he has been dreaming of her, too.

Wow, did this story pull a switcheroo on me. I thought I was going to be getting a "sliding doors" romance kind of book. Instead, I got a very raw and emotional story that I was wholly unprepared for at 1 in the morning.

This story is less about 2 people having the same dreams who end up making a connection in real life and more about a sad and lonely woman going through the heartache of infertility and the havoc it plays on an individual and a marriage. That part of the story is very well writt

I knew this was going to devastate me one way or another—I just didn’t know how exactly. And it did.

Artist Mia desperately wants a baby, while her surgeon husband, Harrison, isn’t so sure after a series of miscarriages. Meanwhile, Mia loves her husband but has been (literally) dreaming for years of a dark, handsome stranger. She doesn’t think much of it, though, until she meets him in real life. Oliver is warm, intelligent, and interesting. And he tells her he’s been dreaming about her, too. (I
