A feminist YA fantasy + the most gorgeous cover of 2020 + an entire weekend indoors just being a superhero and not spreading Covid-19? It's like the universe is trying to tell me to neglect all of my responsibilities and binge read this book.

*Many thanks to the publisher for providing my review copy.

Thank you Netgalley, Wednesday Books and St. Martin's Press for the ARC.

Oh thank you Loki, Prince of Asgard, rightful king of Jotunheim, God of mischief.Odinson.
I have been interested in this author since Sky in the Deep but still haven't picked it up because... hype irritates my slytherin ass and wants me to stay away from books. No, okay it's just because i have hundreds of other books to read.
But this title really called my attention with "a young girl must find her place and her family

This was a vibrant seafaring adventure.

Usually, I'm not the biggest fan of seafaring, but it wasn't a problem for me here. Fable is a stranded diver with past full of secrets, and when she hitches a ride on a ship crewed by what seems to be a found family of teenagers, the tangled web only tightens. I read this mostly in one sitting, and didn't want to stop until I'd finished it.

What I like most about this book is the strength of the family ties that bind everyone. Fable and her father's

This book reminds me of the ocean it's written about. The beginning was like stepping into it. The waves knock into your legs and you have no idea what to expect. The further you go in the deeper it goes. Everytime I thought I had something figured out I was hit with a wave of a scene I didn't expect. You get deep in the middle and it was like swimming underwater. It looks calm and beautiful but there is still so much life and beauty going on all around you. Get to the end and you're on top of ...more

I was given this book in a Goodreads giveaway in exchange for an honest review. And heres where its going to get a little different...
I have been devouring this book in every spare second for days. It keeps me awake at night (I know, I should just get up and finish it, but sleep HAS to happen). I dream about it. Ive recommended it to all my high school classes and have been super excited that a second book was coming. And heres where I get upset! I just noticed THIS book doesnt come out until

I didnt want this to end! I was drawn in from the very first page and now that Ive read the last Im breathless and only wanting more. This world was so rich and fascinating and beautiful. I loved Fable, West and the whole crew. I wish I could give this more than 5 stars because it was freaking fantastic.

Now Im crying and all in my feels.

Thanks Goodreads and St. Martins Press / Wednesday Books for this ARC. It was an absolute joy to read and review this treasure of a story.

I received an ARC through a Goodreads giveaway.

She's done it again.
Her writing has such a way of connecting you to nature and the soul of the world she's carried you away to.
Adrienne Young gently tugs you along into a bold new world, and before you can blink you've fallen in love with the richness of a cut-throat world and the depth of each character you meet. And then before you know it, she leaves you at the edge of a cliff to wallow, as you stare off to sea, waiting for Namesake.

3.75/4 stars--fluctuates on my mood.

I'm straight up saying this: my rating is 100% because of my own personal feelings toward the book. As a whole, I felt like this story was very well-constructed. Adrienne Young has a unique way with words that causes the atmosphere an world around her characters to come to life in a way I very, VERY rarely ever see in YA. It's why Sky in the Deep is one of my favorite YA books of all time, and why I love her world of the Aska tribe so much.

Thank you thank you to Adrienne and Wednesday Books for a Manuscript in exchange for an honest review!

Fable was abandoned four years ago by her father on Jeval after a horrible storm wrecked her father's ship and drowned her mother. Her father, the most powerful trader, promises what is owed to her if she can make her own way off Jeval. Forced to find her own way off the island, Fable has become a dredger, free driving in the Narrows, a series of coral reefs, scraping by until she can earn

Reading Sky in the Deep, I fell in love with Adriennes storytelling, and Fable did not disappoint. The way she paints the setting with her words is indescribable. Chapter by chapter, I feel as though I am there I can smell the smells, picture the surroundings and hear the sounds she has described on the pages. I dont think Ive felt IN a story as much as I do in hers. When her characters feel something, its as if theyre reaching out of the pages making me feel it too. These stories are not over ...more

ARC Review.
I was able to read this book through my sister, who won it in a Goodreads giveaway sponsored by the publisher.

I would start off by saying that this is one of the fastest books I have ever read. It had great flow, and kept you turning pages at breakneck speed. It wasn't one of those books that makes you feel like you are stuck on the same page forever.
The plot was exciting, and the characters were endearing -- even if it took you a while to get to know them. Most of the book was

I adore Adrienne Young's writing, and it is incredible to see her growth as a storyteller in each book. I was lucky enough to win a proof of Fable through a Goodreads giveaway and I devoured the story in less than a day.

Her world building is unique and pulls you in deep enough that you can feel the chill water as Fable dives beneath the waves. But more than a fantastic new world to explore, Young has crafted characters and conflict felt acutely by any reader. The mystery of Fable's individual

I have a complicated relationship with Adrienne Young's books. Her writing is beyond gorgeous, but I never quite love every aspect of the story. Something always falls short or doesn't feel quite right to me. Nevertheless, ever since she revealed the first line of Fable (and the sequel Namesake) on Instagram, I was jumping at the bit to read them. I unfortunately missed a chance to get it at ALAMW, but a booth worker was kind enough to send me a copy after the

I received an uncorrected bound manuscript of Fable from Goodreads and St. Martins Press (Wednesday Books) in exchange for an honest review.

Oh. My. GOSH!!!
This book. I went into the book completely blind. I havent read any of the authors other books (yet) and the brief synopsis doesnt give much information. However, I can honestly say that this book swept me off my feet! From the first line until the last line, I was HOOKED. I think that Adrienne Young must have been a ship captain or pirate or

This book wasn't even on my radar, till a close friend of mine brought it over for me to borrow. She has told me she had a hard time getting into it, but would take another shot at it after I read it. I did end up having to restart reading this book, only because its extremely slow and dull in the start. Even when it does pick up, its not by much. I guess in the end, the only thing that had me finishing Fable was I didn't have much else to do (and I knew I could finish it in a few hours).

Fable by Adrienne Young.

Fable is a 17 year old dredger with only one goal in mind; to save up enough copper to buy her way off of the prison of an island shes been stuck on for the past 4 years and in doing so, earning her spot on her fathers crew.

Little did Fable know that bartering passage on a merchant vessel would be the easy part of her journey. Aboard the Marigold we meet a small crew who holds their secrets close to their vests. Everyone has their secrets. In this world, the truth is the

I won an advanced copy of Fable during one of the authors signing events, and I can only call it fate that this book reached my hands when it did. A story that pulls you in from page one, Fable is a story of a girl at sea. Readers must know this is book 1 of a duology, and I couldn't be happier! Adrienne Young is a gifted author that has yet to write a book that doesn't pull in the reader and left with wanting more!

Fable is a girl on an island trying to find passage on the ship Marigold. Filled with action, sea diving, lost treasure, lost love and a possible redemption, Fable has lived on the rules her Father taught her long before he
