The Evolution of Jules

Rate this book
Betsy begins her life on the run from a father she never knew with a mother who supports them as a stripper and numbs her pain with pills and cheap liquor. Her brother, James, is her only friend and her protector as they move around from slum to slum in an effort to stay anonymous. James eventually follows in his mother's footsteps, his addictions leading to debts that he can't pay back on his own.

Betsy is sold the first time to the ruthless and cold Anthony Henderson, who uses her submissive nature and burning desire to be loved against her. Betsy is no more, under his control. She's evolved into Pink Kitty # 462, the perfect slave and highlight of the Henderson's auction.

Her new master educates her, dresses her, feeds her and trains her to be the beautiful puppet wife he desires and she despises.
What happens next when his enemies take him prisoner, and she is left on her own? For the first time in her life, she gets to make her own choices and find her own fate. Changing her name to Jules, she leaves the anguish of her submissive past and her previous identities behind, and forges ahead as her individual person, in search of a new life with a chance of love.

This was a great introduction for me to this author.

My heart broke for Betsy. She has been through so much and the future doesn’t look too bright. She’s a strong character and I was rooting for her.

A fast paced story. It’s not a read for everyone but I thought it was a great read.

Love Clairissa's writing. The plot (yes there is a plot!!) kept me interested and engaged. The steamy scenes made me think of my own relationship. Can't wait to read more of her writing

The book begins with a punch on the reader's face: a sad opening, but we can clearly see that the author knows where she wanted her protagonist to go through and experience. No, she did not acknowledge or expressed regret.
The characters in The Evolution of Jules are very likable. And, yes, the book is a page turner! That young girl, with a dark life, transforms herself in to a powerful heroine, with numerous strengths. Great read! Highly recommended!

Without spoiling, I'll just say that this starts out with a sad, dark life for a young girl and follows her through her life as she finds her strength and her voice...and love, of course.

The Evolution of Jules
By Clairissa SinClair

The Evolution of Jules is an astounding book with a storyline has a little bit of everything: drama, suspense, and steamy scenes; but it is the constant action that gets the readers drawn in, keeping the readers interested and engaged, making this a page turner with many twists. The Evolution of Jules is a dark tale which starts kind of slow and struggles a bit with a sad opening; about the terrible truth of living through the dark and dangerous times, a topic that may NOT be appropriate for all ages.

The characters in The Evolution of Jules are extremely likable and have remarkable sizzling chemistry. Our heroine evolves, converting herself into a powerful survivor with numerous strengths; readers can see her thrive with each chapter. Each chapter has a purpose, where things came together, and readers cannot help but to fell in love with the characters and their stories. HEA guaranteed with possibilities of sequels which could be written, about of the interesting people that become part of our heroine’s life.

Ms. SinClair has a talent for the details in building a great world for her characters and their stories. Ms. SinClair’s readers can obviously see that she knows what she wants her protagonist to go through and experience; readers end up knowing what happens to all the characters. The writing was great; but it has editing issues, that nearly ruined it for me, giving it a little more time it got much better and I am glad I did continue to read. Having Beta readers could have helped.

Ms. SinClair is a new author to me, is brilliant and clever, author, captivating her readers. And I cannot wait to read more of her writings, I really enjoyed this great read, highly recommended this absolute, a work of genius and receiving a 4-star rating.

It's no secret I love dark books. There are all kinds of dark.. I love most the kind that describes the anguish, the sadness and hurt.
This book... is by a new author to me.
It is divided into 2 parts.
The first part was perfect! It was dark just the way I love.
It tells the story of a girl, Betsy, and how her poor life is growing worse and worse. She is a strong character, and is handling the troubles in her life in a great way.
The first part is ended with a little cliff, and the second part continues straight from this point.
Since the book is called 'the evolution of Jules' the first part was the description of her life up to a certain point. And now she has to become Juliana (Jules).
The second part describes how she evolves into the person she is today.
I have to say, I didn't like the second part of the story.
It was toooooo sweet for me. It's as if the author tried by any way to get it to a happy ending. (I am not a happy ending kind of girl).
It was good in some parts, but Elliot's character just bugged me. I would have replaced him with someone less older and more complexed.
I didn't like the ending. It was too happy, predictable and sweet. I could easily replace it with something much darker. I think it would have Mede Jules' character stronger.
All in all it was a good book.

This is a new author to me. I almost gave up on it about a third of the way through the book. The subject matter was definitely my kind of read. The editing nearly ruined it for me though. I decided to give it a little more time and I'm glad I did. The writing/editing got much better. I was able to really get into the story.
Its a dark tale. Human trafficking is a terrible truth that needs much more attention. Of course, in fictional stories, things tend to work out for the woman focused on. Our heroine definitely goes through dark and dangerous times. The auction, where a wealthy Russian "businessman" buys her, is where I really started enjoying this book.
There are so many twists that its a very fast read. There is constant action the last two thirds of the book so it flows quickly.
I hope, if you struggle a little at the beginning, that you hang in there. You will end up needing to know what happens to all the characters. There really are more stories that could be written about all of the interesting people that become part of Jules life.

This story had a lot of potential. It was deliciously dark and had a gloomy sadness that enveloped me as the reader and set the tone. This is a compliment, as it would be easy for it to fall into satire. Unfortunately there are tons of cliches... Until about 3/4 in when I finally got fully invested.

There are tons of editing issues, and the book would benefit from a beta reader. A lot of areas were overly complicated and overly explained when brevity was needed. But, the character who turns into Jules is likeable and chemistry between her and the others is definitely present. The story gets better as it flows to the end. Jules transformation was inspired and realistic among the terrors she went through. I would read another book by this Author because she has obvious talent. I think she just needs to have good beta readers to remind her to reign it in and less is more.

The story is captivating! It pinced hard my heart and whole emotion. While reading I can’t stop thinking why some people are slave, why they allowed for such. I am for Betsy. Though weak I can feel the beautiful woman in her. Jules to me magnifies the most majority of the mean around, hot, aggressive and opportunist but easy to love and conquer both heart and soul.
It has good epilogue. Fantastic read. Love the sizzling chemistry of these characters. Excellent authors fantastic story lines. Very well written you will not be disappointed. Just what you enjoy in a great book.
The author is brilliant and clever, captivating everything in a reader. Absolutely, I’ll read all her masterpiece!

Unfortunately for me this book was totally spoilt by numerous typos and poor grammar. I seriously can’t understand why an author doesn’t either re read or get an editor/beta reader to sort out the problems. Also even though in fiction we can be asked to suspend belief, sometimes that request is a touch too far. I didn’t buy into the actual storyline. There were too many inconsistencies. It came across to me as if the author had read various ‘dark’ storylines and decided to mix and mash them all together but couldn’t decide what the story was really about. It’s a shame as I do believe if a good editor or beta reader had been involved, this story could have been so much better - it did have potential

This book!! When I initially started it, I was a little thrown by how it got so dark so fast. But, I kept reading, and it was the best decision I ever made! The plot rolls out as smoothly as a red carpet. Every scene has a purpose, and the more things came together, the more I fell in love with the characters and their stories. The more I read, the more it sucked me in! I could not put this book down in the last third, even the last half, and ended up staying up until 4am to finish it!! Oops! This book definitely did not disappoint, and I will soon be searching for more from this amazing author!

This was a twisted dark read, but oh how I loved it. I also love strong female characters that can evolve and survive anything thrown their way and this one does not disappoint. Our heroine Kitty went from being kidnapped, trained submissive, a wife, to being on the run for her life. I could not read this book fast enough. HEA guaranteed and that is what I love the most!

This is the first book I have read from this author and it definitely will not be my last.

I have received this book as an ARC and this is my honest review!

This book was horrifying and sad before Betsy became Jules. Betsy had a rough childhood, and it only got worse as she got older. It wasn't until she evolved into Jules that things began to change for her, but even then it was a dark life. I was sucked into this book and got completely invested in Jules' story. I did want to mention that there were some editing issues with the book, but I thought the story itself was engaging and alluring. I would love to see what happens next!

Hard life

Jules is a girl that couldn't get a break from any body in her life till the one person she only knew was her bodyguard. Her life is a series of people using her and abusing her too the one man stood up for her. It's a fascinating story of growth.

This was a great book that kept you reading on to see how it would turn out for her and all of her injustices. Great way to end it and even better to tie it all together at the end to truly show how she evolved as a person.

I love this story. It starts out very dark and sad. Slowly the lead character finds her own way and her own identity but not without multiple trials and tribulations.

The story was really good. The characters very interesting. The grammar, sentence structure, horrible, but the story good enough to overcome it.

I received a copy of this book through Voracious Readers. I read the book within a couple of hours and the story is well written. It does need some editing as there are plenty of grammatical errors but other all it didn't make the story suffer. I also think that the author cut the characters short at the end just to finish the book. Jules and Jake deserved better then that. What happened with Edgar? Was Yuri allowed to be apart of the baby's life? So many open ended questions that I was left with.

This book is VERY hot and unapologetic. The characters are well developed and sympathetic. It is a fast read and I am looking forward to part II!
