This is a terrific academic book about the how story, in the form of popular entertainment can be a force for social change for the better. Reducing sexually transmitted disease including HIV transmission, increasing literacy rates and much more. The the very founders and seminal voices in the field are contributors to the book. They site field research showing how this works, as well as the best practices. This is also a great resource for anyone looking to join this field--a veritable tome of who's who and where they are working. It's not a bad idea for all of us interested in writing fiction to be aware of its possible power.
