The holiday season is almost upon us once again and with that time of year comes lovely contemporary romance Christmas stories. Let It Snow by Nancy Thayer is my first seasonal review and what better to start with than an established author who I expected to have a lovely story.

Let It Snow features Christina Antonioni who is a toy shop owner in Nantucket who has an encounter with a little girl who tries to shoplift. Catching Wink in action Christina feels sorry for her and offers to give her a

It was a joyful easy Christmas read but the "Inner Christina" needed to go.

4.5 Let It Snow is a sweet entertaining story set in Nantucket at Christmastime. In her small hometown, Christina owns a toy shop on the Nantucket wharf along with three friends that own other stores right beside hers. It’s in Christina’s own shop where she meets 9 year old Wink under naughty circumstances, and soon after meets Wink’s (bitter and scowling) mom Delia, and Winks very charming and handsome, Uncle Andy. Christina quickly becomes attached to Wink who works under her tutelage in the ...more

Three stars: A cute but predictable Christmas story that reads like a Hallmark holiday movie.

Christina is busy prepping her Nantucket toy store for the holiday season. Unfortunately, Christina and her fellow shop owners receive notification from their new landlord, Oscar Bittlesman, that the rent will be rising twenty percent after the first of the year. The dismal news puts a damper on the holiday season, and Christina fears that her little shop will have to close. Then by chance, Christina

I love Nancy Thayer's books and her summer book, Surfside Sisters, was one of my absolute favorites of hers, so when I heard we'd be getting a bonus Christmas book this year, I was really excited. Unfortunately, this one really felt phoned in to me - none of the vibe and feelings I normally get from her books and even for a holiday book, it was just way too predictable. I'll chalk this one up to a one off and be eagerly awaiting her next summer novel next year!

Thank you to Random House for a

"Let It Snow" is a cheesy and sweet Christmas novel that takes place in Nantucket. Our main character, Christina, is preparing for the Christmas season in her toy store, when a young girl, named Wink, steals a few toys. In chastising Wink, Christina causes Wink to become upset. Wink's handsome and very single uncle, Andy, stops by, which causes him and our main character to begin a romance.

In the story, we also have a conflict for

Nancy Thayer has put on her Santa writing hat and decorated for Christmas on her beloved island of Nantucket, just in time to bring us, ‘Let It Snow.’ As I love her beach reads, especially this year’s ‘Surfside Sisters,’ nothing can be better than celebrating Christmas with an ocean view.

The small shops out on the wharf, once known as sheds, are gearing up for their brief but profitable Christmas season when they each receive a letter from their landlord, that effective the first of

Let It Snow was cozy and sweet and predictable and let me tell you, I AM HERE FOR IT. Sometimes, you simply need a Hallmark Christmas movie in book form and that is exactly what Nancy Thayer wrote. You have your quaint town, your sweet local girl, and the well-off outsider. They come together in a meet-cute, but of course, things must go awry when things are just getting good. Throw in a cute kid with moxie and pet cat and you are all set for a perfect night of Hallmark-esque reading. It’s ...more

Another one of my favourite authors is Nancy Thayer and Let It Snow is her latest Nantucket Christmas read. In the book, Christina is a young shopkeeper of a small toy shop and is part of a community of shopkeepers that support one another. Christina has felt great loss in her life, having lost both parents and the Grandmother whose Nantucket home she inherited but this community has helped with any loneliness she might feel.

A young girl, Wink, comes into the shop one day and Christina is

Let It Snow is a sweet and charming love story that is perfect to curl up with for an easy and light read. I love the Nantucket setting; it is easy to picture the shops, the weather, the scenery, and the hustle and bustle of the people. Nancy Thayer did such a fantastic job at creating such vivid, realistic and descriptive settings, and her pure and colorful characters fit in so wonderfully. I enjoyed this novel and can easily see it made into a Hallmark movie.

Can you imagine just starting your career and the Scrooge comes and raises your rent?!
Now why would anyone be so cold, so heartless, so inconsiderate especially during the most precious and blessed season?
Well folks, things move along rather quickly in this stunning plot when Christina the toy shop owner and renter bonds with Oscar's granddaughter - Wink!
Wink also introduces our distressed Nantucket owner to a whole new world in the form of her handsome bachelor uncle.

Let It Snow is a sweet story highlighting the charms of Nantucket at Christmas time. The author has created a wonderful group of characters: four shopkeepers, a precious, precocious child, a curmudgeonly landlord and his adult children, all trying to capture the spirit and essence of the holiday while struggling with the realities of living. Can the shopkeepers remain in business? Can an estranged couple find common ground? Can a man who seems only to value the amount of money he makes ever ...more

This is a hard book for me to review, because everyone's taste varies and this particular kind of book makes me cringe. At about the halfway mark I thought, "This is the sort of book people who like the Hallmark Channel would enjoy." It's completely true. At one point the main character even sits down and watches it herself. Unfortunately, that particular brand of wholesome, clean (read bland in my opinion), never rings true for me. I dislike it extremely. But I also acknowledge that there is a ...more
Let it Snow by Nancy Thayer is a 2019 Ballantine Books publication.

I have a handful of books written by Nancy Thayer on my Kindle, but unbelievably this is the first book I’ve read by this author. While I’ve heard good things about Thayer, this book was not the best introduction to her work, I’m afraid.

The setup involves a troubled and bored child, struggling with the divorce of her parents, a grumpy old man with a Scrooge like persona, a lonely shop keeper with a big heart, hoping to someday

This was a sweet entertaining Christmas story about life as an inhabitant on Nantucket. There are a group of 4 store owners called “The Shedders”. They are called this because their shops are housed in small drafty sheds on the waterfront. This group has become friends & are like a family.

Christina owns the toy shop & surprises a young lady named “Wink” when she tried to shoplift. This brings Christina to the attention of one of the wealthy families of the island & particularly the

I enjoyed this just the way it was intended, with a glass of wine and a kitty curled up on my lap.

This is a sweet, heartwarming Christmas story.

Christina has a toy shop in Nantucket. Since last Christmas, both of her parents passed away. They were a really close family and Christina is feeling very lonely this year.

Then a cute little 9 year old girl called Wink comes into her shop and life starts changing.

When Wink’s mom comes back to the toy store, she brings her brother Andy. Christina feels

What do A Christmas Carol and Let it Snow have in common? Cold weather, a precocious child and Scrooge! If you like to read books about a curmudgeonly old man being softened up then this is the book for you.

Let it Snow could easily be read in a weekend but I made this my guilty pleasure after long days of teaching so I took a bit longer. Every night as I closed the book I found myself smiling. The precocious little girl, Wink, is a delight. We all need a Wink in our life at one point. Viewing

A Christmas love story, set on beautiful Nantucket. 𝐋𝐞𝐭 𝐈𝐭 𝐒𝐧𝐨𝐰 is the quintessential Christmas story!

This heartwarming tale of a shopkeeper during the Christmas season will get you in the holiday spirit. With a Scrooge of a landlord, a precocious young friend appropriately named Wink, and a new friendship with Wink’s uncle, this Christmas season is more than Christina bargained for! As the holiday season unfolds on the island, it just may be the best Christmas any of them could have imagined.

This is a nice, feel-good and light-hearted Christmas season read. It takes place on the perfect Christmas holiday destination, Nantucket Island and follows a quirky woman who owns a toy shop. I really enjoyed this novel. It was a quick, easy novel to read and full of drama and holiday cheer! One thing I did not feel, especially at first, was the natural flow of conversation between the characters, it just didn't fit together well and believably- though the problem did get better as the book ...more

3.5 - This is what you would expect from a holiday story. I am really new to this genre, but I thought I would give it a try since I enjoy Thayer's summer novels. Her writing felt a little more cheesy in this novel, but once I let go of my expectations and just enjoyed an escape, I liked this a lot more. If you like Hallmark movies this is, essentially, a one of those movies within a book. Not much happens, but it's a feel good read set in Nantucket with an unlikely romance, a Scrooge type ...more

I've read a few Nancy Thayer books before and they never disappoint to be full of Christmas cheer and romance. I don't think her descriptions are of Nantucket are as vivid as Elin Hilderbrand's, but she does a nice job of making you feel the charm of the island. This one was sweet and predictable. It's a small book that actually took me quite a while to get through because I kept drifting off from the story. I wasn't compelled to pick it up, sadly. It's a cute little Christmas book and the cover ...more

Thank you to @netgalley and @randomhousepublishing for a digital ARC of this book. Let it Snow by Nancy Thayer is such a sweet and heartwarming Christmas story, sure to get you in the mood for the upcoming holiday season. The story follows Christina, a year round shopkeeper on Nantucket, and her relationships with the Bittlesman family; including the patriarch (who happens to be her landlord), his children and a sweet 9-year old girl.

I received this book in a giveaway. I liked the story about a young woman living on Nantucket, an island in the northern U. S. Christina owns a small business and the story centers around that, her relationship to other owners, and the new man in town. There are a few "mild" curse words and a few crude, suggestive remarks which could have been omitted without harming the story. I liked the book with the exception of the ending.

This was a joyful read. Christina catches a little who tries to shoplift in her shop. She gives wink a job and showers her with gifts then finds out her grandfather is a multimillionaire and doesn't need a handout. She then meets Andy winks uncle and has feelings for him. I'm hoping for a 2nd book to see what happens.

This cute little book is a solid 4 out of 5. I can’t rate it 5, because characters are mostly sort of one dimensional. Nevertheless it’s a cute little beach read or holiday weekend away read and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the egalley in exchange for a review.
