This is definitely not a typical mail-order bride book. It went so much deeper than that! The struggle between the two main characters was amusing. I liked that they didn’t just jump into a romantic relationship right away. They had to learn who they are and how to forgive past hurts before they could move forward into a life together. I would definitely recommend this book!

I was given a complimentary copy of this ebook from the author, but was not required to write a review. The thoughts and co

I enjoyed this book so very much!!
The characters and the plot were delightful and kept my attention the whole way through the book!
I hated to say goodbye to Yancy and her friends. I felt like they were my friends too!
In some of the scenes I could imagine myself there quite well. I didn't want do come back!!
In other scenes I found myself giggling so much that my husband asked me what was so funny.
I took this book everywhere with me and I even had someone ask me what the title was and I recommen

While I find mail-order bride stories intriguing, I also admit that I tend to be very picky about them because it's difficult to make the romance believable. The added twist to the premise of this novel had me instantly intrigued because it would eliminate at least part of what typically stunts the realism for me. I felt the romance thread was well-played and the conflict was thoroughly amusing. I admit to having a bit of difficulty keeping all of the characters straight in the beginning, but I ...more

Yancey Palmer has loved Hale Adams since she was a little girl, but she has finally put her crush on Hale to rest after the Archer Matrimonial Agency matches her with a mysterious man from Denver. She agrees to help Hale run for mayor in Helena, MT because she believes that she may be moving to Denver to start a life with Nathaniel St. John.

Hale Adams has engaged the services of a matrimonial agency to help him find a bride, but none of the matches please him, and the ladies of the Archer Matrim

A truly delightful story that grabbed my attention from the first. Young love is always hard, especially when you are ten years old and the object of your affection is older and you don't see them again for several years. But Yancey Palmer made up her mind she just had to get over Hale Adams and move on. Luckily through the Archer Matrimonial Company she had begun a correspondence with a man that truly seemed perfect!
Hale Adams has decided to run in the Mayoral campaign. He'd also corresponded w

Wow! I was completely wowed by the depth of this book! It was incredible. I have not read any of the previous books in this series, so yes, you can read it as a stand alone quite comfortably. Having read this one, I can't wait to read the rest of them. It starts out humorously & light hearted, then layers are added, similar to a beautiful cake. You first appreciate the decor & then you taste the frosting. After which you try the cake it's self. You knew you were getting a cake, & even knew the f ...more

This book is set in Montana. It is a part of the Montana Brides series. This can be read as a stand alone. In this book, you will meet Yancey and Hale. They have known each other for awhile. Yancey has had a thing for Hale for as long as she can remember. Hale, however does not feel the same way. Hale actually considers Yancey a thorn in his side. Both are corresponding with someone and Yancey accepts a marriage proposal to her mysterious suitor. When it is discovered it is Hale - it becomes int ...more

I truly enjoyed this storyline. This was an author I had not yet had the privilege of reading before this book, and it did strike me as a book that was likely part of a series. However, I was very pleased at how the author wrote this story in a way that it could completely stand alone, but yet previous events that were pertinent were touched on enough that the reader did not ever feel lost. I also appreciated the clear attention to grammar and punctuation. These details just add clear and concis ...more

My Thoughts on The Telegraph Proposal:
This is such a sweet book. Definitely one I would classify as a Christian romance novel. It’s not a historical novel in that there aren’t any major historic events going on but it is set back in time a bit.

I am always intrigued by books that are written by more than one author. How do they collaborate? Does one write the dialogue from one person while the other does the other? Who comes up with the ideas? Do they write together or separate? All the questions

Yancy Palmer has love Hale Adam’s most of her life, but pursuing him was no good because he ignored her. Circumstances leads both to sign up with the Archer Matrimonial Company to try and find someone to care for. But they were not expecting what they found.

I enjoyed this book so much! I loved the characters, and the plot was great, keeping my attention throughout the book. I wanted to know the ending, though I didn’t want the book to end. I didn’t read the first two boo

If you’ve read the previous two books in the Montana Brides series, The Telegraph Proposal gives you an opportunity to catch up with some familiar fictional friends. But don’t concern yourself if you haven’t, once you get to know some of the Helena, Montana characters, you’ll feel like a part of this group of people too.

Yancey and Hale both carry misconceptions about each other. Yancey has put Hale on a pedestal for years. Hale has seen Yancey as annoying and selfish, avoiding her whenever possi

Gina Welborn and Becca Whitman have worked together to create this final story in The Montana Brides Inspirational Romance Series. I have not as yet read any of the previous books in the series and did not feel as though I was missing any information. The authors provide background to this historical fiction novel; helping the reader understand the history behind the novel. Not only is The Telegraph Proposal a great clean romance it also provides, in story form, a lesson in how our actions can a ...more

I love marriage of convenience stories and mail order brides definitely fall into this category so I went into this excited about another wonderful story. I got this and more. A mail order bride story with a twist. What I wasn't expecting was the whiplash of sudden change in events a few chapters in but this drew me in and held me spellbound from then on. Although there was no mystery or suspense to uncover, the issues dealt with through the course of the story like forgiveness and second chance ...more

Great read!

My rating is 4.5 stars

Poor Yancey! She fell in love with Hale when she was ten and he rescued her from a bully. Throwing herself at him every chance she got, trying to make him jealous, and breaking up his courtship with her older sister only caused him to despise her.

When I read the synopsis, I knew this would be a great story! It only hinted at the tangled web that had been woven for Hale and Yancey.

I enjoyed reading this story. I felt deeply for Yancey's pain over Hale's rejection

I rarely jump into a series when it's finishing up, but I'm so glad I did in this case! The story was so much fun to read, with colorful characters, an engaging plot, and amazing character development. The progression the main characters made in a short time frame was really well done. It felt realistic and was a learning experience for me, as I had my doubts that it could be done. While it would have probably helped to have read the first two books prior to this one, it was simple for me to cat ...more

The Telegraph Proposal
By Gina Welborn and Becca Whitham
The Telegraph Proposal is book 3 in, A Montana Brides Inspirational Romance series. The story had previous books characters and plot lines in it however I read this book only. By the end, it all made sense whether you read one book or all three.
The story begins with the help of Archer Matrimonial Company. Rather than simply doing as her mother asks, Antonia Archer sees an opportunity to prove her worth to run her own office in the future. S

Gina Welborn and Becca Whitham have teemed up to write a great historical romance. It has all the parts and moving pieces of an entertaining read--the hero and heroine, the support cast, and the surprising bad guy to give it some intrigue to hold the reader's attention. Beyond that, it wasn't a formulaic romance.

Yancey has signed up for a marriage matching service. She feels she's about to be on the shelf, and the man she has loved for years wants nothing to do with her. Hale Adams has been ask

After being denied the man of her dreams, by the man of her dreams, since she was a young girl, Yancey Palmer gives up and contacts the Archer Matrimonial Company in hopes of finding someone to love who will love her back.

Yancey is assigned a man and she begins a correspondence with him. Yancey promises a friend she would help her unrequited love run for mayor without chasing him. Sure she is falling in love with the man she is corresponding with, she feels she can help without issues arising.

Yancey and Hale's story was complicated. Yancey had know since she was 10 years old and Hale was 18 that she was going to marry him one day. But, the way she went about it was unwanted so Hale wanted nothing to do with Yancey. In fact, he disliked her greatly. Finally, when Yancey finally realized her unwanted advances weren't going to accomplish what she wanted, she finally backed off. Then, she was asked to help Hale in his campaign for mayor of Helena, Montana. She spent a lot of time with Ha ...more

I really enjoyed this historical fiction story because it takes place in Montana Territory before the small town of Helena was named the Capital of Montana. As with all small towns everyone loves to gossip and the two main characters Yancey and Hale have a long and annoying history they both would like to forget. When they have to work together on Hale’s campaign for Mayor their newly formed truce will be sorely tested by mysterious events, devious characters and life lessons for Hale, Yancey an ...more

I enjoyed book three in the Montana Brides Romance series. It did take me a few chapters to get into it, but once I did, I happily kept turning the pages. (You do need to read the others in the series to follow what’s going on in book 3.)

Opposites attract in this tale of miscommunication and misunderstanding. We see throughout how “no man is an island” because our actions affect others. And in this book boy, did their actions affect others. Well developed, colorful characters move the story alon

Imagine a matrimonial company that helps people find their future mate. Precursor to the modern online match-up sites, a woman in Montana Territory offers this service. Yancey Palmer has pursued Hale Adams for years, but finally decided he’s not her match. However, her friend plots to get them together and uses the service her attempt. Can such a scheme work? This intriguing tale offers an enjoyable read. I hadn’t read the second book in the series, and I think it would have been a richer readin ...more

The Telegraph Proposal is a lovely story with a great ending, but I'm not sure how the telegraph is actually involved. It was a very minor part of the story. But I did enjoy reading about how Yancey who has been in love with Hale for ten years, gives him up only to have him finally fall for her. Very entertaining story that also at one point, made me cry. Great story I will enjoy reading again. ...more

Romance readers often are able to pick out secondary characters who are going to become protagonists within a series, or those they wish would get their own stories, and that is part of the fun.  The Telegraph Proposal, the third book in the Montana Brides series by Becca Whitham & Gina Welborn, managed to surprise me.

Yancey Palmer's dogged pursuit of Hale Adams has been both cringe inducing and amusing throughout the series.  While I'd failed to imagine Yancey as a potential main protagonist, t

Thanks goes to the publisher, via Net-Galley, for an advance reader copy of The Telegraph Proposal. This is a western romance set in Montana. My opinions are my own and are not influence in any way.

The Telegraph Proposal is an enchanting story with delightful characters and an emotionally-charged plot. The pacing is good and kept my attention from the first page to the last. The authors’ writing is descriptive and painted an authentic picture of the times.
