I’ve only read Serenade of Fireflies. That story packed so much punch into such a short story. George has a bit of a stalker vibe always looking in a window of a man down the street. She’s trying to find any reason to meet him. Finally the opportunity presents itself and she’s all in. But the ending isn’t what you’re gonna expect. Fantastic dark story.

A Serenaded of Fireflies, by Yolanda Olson 4½⭐
This story is about George, and why she's hell bent on giving it up. When she decides that she's ready, George puts her plan in motion and include her neighbor Duran, for help. But, when it doesn't goes as planned, she decides on a new one.

The ending isn't what you've expect, but it's Yolanda, and she's known for her twist in her books.

Stained Hearts by Ally Vance 5⭐
This story is a tragedy and a retribution all in one. It's about Amelia and what's happened to her in the past. While she's trying to get over it, Amelia's past comes back and smack her in the face. She decides to make a plan and take what's not hers.

I love the ending and the scene. It was sadistic and hot.

Sweet Caroline, by Petra J. Knox 4⭐
The build up was so good in this story, even though you can tell what's going to happen. This story is about Shane, and his obsession with Caroline. He does the craziest thing to her and by the end she's Sweet Caroline.

It's a good story, I just think it needed a little more.

Silent Deception by Peyton Banks 4½⭐
Wow! What a story of deception. I knew a twist was coming, but I didn't expect that ending. This story is about Jazz Tyson and the life she had. When she decides to make a change, it will be the last thing anyone see coming.

This story is really good and I'm glad I've read it.

Alpha by William Joseph 4⭐
I'm so confused by the end murders. This story is about Alpha and how he hunt. He's precise with how he do what he does. But by the end he may not get what he wants.

I like this story.

Detailed reviews & ratings of individual stories below:

GETTING HER BACK by HB Jasick -2 stars
I’ve wanted to read something by Jasick for awhile, so I was excited to have the opportunity to read a short story to give me an introduction to her writing style. Unfortunately, if this is how her all of her books are, I will not be reading anything by her ever again. To clarify, I was totally consumed by the story from the start. Immediately I was sucked into the storyline, fascinated and entertained the characters and plot. The writing is good, that’s not the issue, the problem is that once I was fully immersed in the story, it ended. A cliffhanger in an anthology!?!?!? Obviously, this is not intended to be a cliffhanger, there is no part 2 somewhere out there, but this is 100% NOT a complete story/book! Also, this book is supposedly professionally edited, yet there are several obvious, distracting mistakes such as sentences with missing words ( ”I’ll be glad when I’m finally able to take Taylor away this town.” ) and typos like, “I keep my keeps squeezed shut.” Soooo much potential, yet extremely disappointing in the end.

READY OR NOT by CF Rabbiosi - 4 stars
I love dark erotica and I am often frustrated by authors claiming to write “dark” then giving us fade to black or barely gray scenes. That is definitely not the case with Rabbiosi who is on the other end of the spectrum!! The very first scene in this story is a 14-year-old boy raping a nine-year-old girl!!!! Unfortunately, it isn’t a 5-star story, and Rabbiosi needs to learn how to use commas, but it does prove that Rabbiosi is demented and not at all afraid to go DARK! I’ll definitely be checking out her books!!

STOLEN DREAMS by Renee Dyer 3-stars
A college student finds out that his best friend and girlfriend are sleeping together. This scorned lover doesn’t do what you’d expect but goes to huge extremes! That’s pretty much the gist of it! It’s well written but for me, something was missing.

TWISTED LITTLE BIRD by JM Walker 3.5 stars
A detailed account of a rape… Or is it? Things aren’t always what they seem in this super kinky story! Although it didn’t give me the feels I was looking for, this story is definitely well written and demonstrative of what Walker is capable of.

WRITHE by Emery Leeann 5 stars
This is one of the most creative, disturbing abduction stories I’ve ever read – I loved it! After a horrific life of abuse, Albert now kidnaps women so he can transform them into his ideal mate, transforming them both emotionally and physically. This story deliciously dark and depraved, proving that Leeann isn’t afraid to cross boundaries. I loved how disturbing her mind gets and will definitely check out more of her books!

MINE by VIRGINIA JOHNSON 4 stars
I love the rare story where the sociopath is the female main character, not the male! I was super impressed by Johnson’s creation of Jane, “a twenty-five-year-old with the mentality of a teenager and the homicidal tendencies of a Manson girl.” Jane is an innovative twist on the obsessed, delusional stalker, viewing relationships like video games, (“leveling up“ and “ hitting the reset button“, etc.).

THE SYNDICATE by Murphy Wallace 3 stars
Obviously I was wrong to be shocked earlier that an author would put a cliffhanger in an anthology since Wallace did the exact same thing with this story! ARGH!!!! I hate cliffhangers and I would not have wasted my time reading this had I known it was going to end with one! I don’t have the memory to retain storylines, so I intentionally wait until a series is complete before reading it. GRRRR!!! Anyway, I will try to be objective and review/rate what information was provided...
Wilder James’ boss gives him the job of being bodyguard/babysitter to his spoiled, impulsive, bratty debutante daughter Zoe. Even though he supposedly can’t stand Zoe, while guarding her on a trip to Ibiza, Wilder gets to “see the sweet girl that she is hiding under the smart-mouthed, bad girl image that she is known for.” Of course they can’t deny the sexual tension between them resulting in a very predictable romance. What’s not predictable is what happens when the bad guys decide to kidnap Zoe. Unfortunately, that’s where the story ends...

*This review is based off of A Serenade of Fireflies by Yolanda Olson.

Georgie! Oh, Georgie. I think Georgie needs her own full story. I need to know more about her and what she is going to do next! She meets Duran, stalks him a little and he likes it. Then things intensify to the twisted, dark, deliciousness of Yolanda's stories

There is a line that I absoulety love...
"They are a reminder to let your light shine and to follow what you desire the most in your life, Georgie. Don’t let anything stop you when you see fireflies, because they’ll only sing their serenade for those that truly need it."

But what kind of song does Georgie hear?

I will update review when I've read each story.

A Serenade of Fireflies by Yolanda Olson.

A riveting tale, and one that I didn't want to end. George is such an intriguing character. She craves the special attention of Duran, as she watches his escapades. She so needs her own book! In true Yolanda style, this story is a dark, twisted delight!

The Syndicate by Murphy Wallace
A story that had me hooked by the first page. Murphy is queen of hot and steamy scenes and together the characters, Zoe & Wilder produced a nuclear boom! The toying and teasing, twinned with a gripping storyline, I so need to read more about these characters!

Kiss Me, Kill Me - This is an epic collection of authors.

Locke & Key by Ashleigh Giannoccaro and Jason Hes
These two authors together are magic, this story is twisted, dark, hot m/m action and contains one hell of a twist that I never saw coming. Flawlessly written, a real page turner.

The Syndicate by Murphy Wallace -
Wow this one contains a spoiled princess, who is tamed and the sex scenes are very HOT! Then the story turns a very dark corner that leads us perfectly into the follow on series: Heathens series, cannot wait for those.

Wow

This review is for Sweet Caroline. I started out reading this story with the song in my head, but that changed PDQ. Because wow. There is not a whole lot of wholesome sweet in this particular story. I mean, you could almost maybe call some things sweet? At least, if it weren't taboo and twisted.

Shane and Caroline are going to be on my mind and I'm my head for a very long time.

More reviews to come as I read the full book.

In true Yolanda style, she takes this story and flips it on it's head. And, yes, I've read a lot of Yolanda's work, and she still surprises me every time! Definitely a must read!

I received an advanced copy of HB Jasick's story, Getting Her Back. I absolutely loved it. Ms. Jasick starts out with a bang and the crazy actions of one deeply disturbed man don't stop until the end. Despite his faults, you can't help but feel for him because he truly believes he's doing what's best for love. I can't wait for the next installment!

Twisted Little Bird by JM Walker

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

Holy Shit Balls!! This book is a sweet short story that starts and won’t let you go!!
There is a huge JM style twist that has me saying “Holy Crap JM!!” I didn’t see it coming. I really cant say much about this book except Jax and Savanah’s story is an unconventional one that will have you squirming!!

I read sweet Caroline by Jenifer Knox and let me tell you this story may be short but it is one sick and twisted tale that will creep you out from the start and just get more fckd up as you go. Let me tell you sweet Caroline is anything but sweet but it will keep you entranced till the end.
I loved this story and can’t wait til the rest of this book comes out. Jenifer did an amazing job with this not so sweet but oh so disturbing story.

I read the story writhe by Emery LeeAnn and holy shit this was an intense read. I was enthralled right from the beginning and couldn’t put it down. Albert was an insane scientist trying to turn poor Afton into his perfect partner and sex slave and he kidnapped her. His idea of a perfect woman are twisted and Afton had to endure a lot of pain and torture do to this. The only complaint I might have is these stories could be longer lol I didn’t wanna stop reading them. This book is going to be amazing if the rest of the stories are anything like these.

I read Syndicate by Murphy Wallace. OMG I was not expecting that ending. I thought I started out reading an angsty love story and then it totally turned around into this dark, twisted and emotional read. It had my head spinning i did not want to put it down.
Murphy you are a genius. This book had me on a roller coaster ride of emotions and anxiety, especially the end. I am so gonna be biting my nails for the next one, I am hooked. Nothing like a good cliffhanger to keep you wanting more.

This is my review for Locke and Key by Ashleigh Giannoccaro and Jason Hes.

Ashleigh and Jason have given us two dark characters Evander and Israel (Rale) who will give you all the tingles. Their story is dark, deep and full of secrets. Throw in a creepy, lazy ass stepdaddy who just loves to preach to his own God. I was blindsided with the twist at the end and that’s why I just love to read these types of books. Ones that make you think about the how, why and who. The ones that keep you guessing.

I can’t wait to read the rest of the stories in this anthology.

I've so far read A Serenade of Fireflies by Yolanda Olson and Sweet Caroline by Petra J Knox from this anthology. I enjoyed them both: the first a short story with an intriguing main character and a touch of horror, and the second a dark taboo short story that is deliciously twisted. I really enjoy the writing of both of these authors and am looking forward to reading the rest of the stories in the anthology too. (I will update my review as I do.)

** This is a review of Message Received by C.M. Radcliff as part of the Kiss Me Kill Me Anthology.

Message Received is a deviously delightful short story and dang if it didn't draw me in with the first paragraph. C.M. Radcliff has a knack for creating characters you simply cannot get enough of and Tyler does not disappoint. Deranged, sexy and destined for depravity this short story is full of everything I love from C.M. Radcliff. The woman knows how to write a story. And this tale, does not disappoint. Well done.

Book: Stained Hearts (Kiss Me, Kill Me Anthology)
Author: Ally Vance
Rating: 5 stars
Reviewer: emmasromanticreviews17
Note: I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review

This is a short, sexy, dark and dangerous story that will draw you in and leave you breathless. Ally says in her dedication at the start that this book is for her beta readers who are constantly pushing her to go darker and I think it is safe to say that this book manages to achieve that goal. This is not one for the faint hearted and if you trigger easily, particularly around violence or sexual abuse then this may not be the book for you. However, if you do give this book a go, I am sure you will not regret it.

Ten years ago Amelia’s life changed forever when Ryan took something from her that she could never get back. She was left broken and irrevocably changed but has tried to move on with her life as best she can. Then she met Adam, who with his own demons, matched her broken perfectly. He manages to bring out the pain that Amelia craves through sex and he owns her mind, body and soul. Through this she has finally found a way to cope with life. But what happens when Ryan walks back into her life and doesn’t even remember who she is. Will Amelia get the revenge that she craves?

Amelia is such a beautifully, broken soul. She is desperate to erase the hurt from her past and has entered into a masochistic sexual relationship with Adam to help her cope. She trusts him to push her mind and body to the limit, even if that means she has to bleed for the pain. I loved how strong Amelia was, even in her darkest time and it was fantastic to watch as she struggles with her humanity and considers her revenge.

Adam was a big enigma in this book. He is a dangerous, dominant and he loves to inflict pain. But it’s clear that he has his own demons that are fuelling his rage and he needs Amelia to be an outlet for his problems. I felt there was so much more going on with Adam and I would love to find out more and to get into his mind!

Adam and Amelia’s relationship is such a strange one because they find pleasure from hurting each other, yet they also have a strong emotional connection that has developed based on trust. When Amelia is in her darkest hour she calls on Adam for help and knows that he will come and he doesn’t let her down. Their dark and dangerous sex is hot and sexy. I really want more from this crazy duo.

Overall, I absolutely loved this incredible short story. It was dark, dangerous, a little crazy and a whole lot sexy. But beware this book is definitely not for the faint hearted. It is a romance book that certainly embraces its dark side and I loved it. I want so much more! I can’t wait to read the other books in the anthology.

With such a large lineup of amazing authors all coming together to support an anthology, this is a must read.

My review is for Stained Hearts by Ally Vance.

5 OMG stars!
Every moment of this anthology piece captivated me. There was no looking away at any point, even if at times I wished I could. This may be my favorite short by the author.

These characters just about broke me. Ally Vance poured such emotion into each one that I couldn’t do anything except be along for the heart racing journey. The world building was vivid and detailed, especially for an anthology piece.

I was fully immersed in the storyline. Every word appeared deliberately written to enrich the reading experience, even when it caused my soul to hurt. It felt like I was holding my breath as I read it. I tried not to cry, scream and so much more as the words jumped off the pages. By the end I was emotionally exhausted by such a strongly written short.

I desperately need more words. This cannot be the end because Ally Vance created dark, heart rendering and perfect magic. That last scene…Flawless.

The Kiss Me, Kill Me Anthology is a great Kindle deal! With over 10 authors to choose from, there is bound to be a story that captures your attention. I had the opportunity to provide an ARC via Booksprout for Silent Deception by Peyton Banks.

This short story centers around a newly widowed woman, Jazz, and her relationship with her bodyguard, Charlie (Country). Jazz is mother to a young child that is finally free from her abusive husband. Charlie, has been secretly loving Jazz since he began protecting her.

The chemistry between Jazz and Charlie sparks off of the pages. They are so sweet together! Without revealing any spoilers, I can say that I was unprepared (but pleasantly surprised) for the events that unfolded. My only wish is that this had been a full length story and not a short story as part of the anthology because I am selfish and I wanted more Jazz & Charlie.

Grab this book and start with Silent Deception. It is such a great story!

I had this anthology on preorder forever. I knew going into it that it would be a hard read. Generally, I love all things dark but there were a few books here that finally pushed my limits. This is no means a romance anthology. I knew that going in. Even as uncomfortable as I was the authors did their job. This was horror. I t was twisted and depraved and gory as hell. I enjoyed some stories A LOT (looking at you JM Walker and Murphy Wallace) and others not as much which is par for the course with this many authors.

There are different triggers in this book so I advise anyone thinking about reading this to be prepared. This isn't a book about redeemable antiheroes (for the most part) these characters were morally bankrupt (again barring a few of the stories) However, the world-building that each of the authors used to make me uncomfortable was impressive. Furthermore, the purpose of this anthology of all profits going to the Rain Forest makes it doubly worth it.

This is a perfect book to read New to you authors or even your favorites. I discovered several new to me authors that i can't wait to read just because of their story in here. I hope that these stories are expanded on, just because I would love mote of these characters. I enjoyed each dark tale and can not wait to get my hands on any that will be expanded. These authors are all fantastic and wrote wonderful tales. The characters will stick with me for quite a while. Look forward to reading more from each author in this anthology, found some new to me authors that hit the right buttons.

I was given the chance to read this story by Ally and let me just say this....this story was absolutely all kinds of twisted, darkness goodness that had me wanting so more Amelia and Adam and their wicked wicked dirty way's. Fantastic short story.
I'd definitely recommend getting this anthology if the story I read was this twisted I can only imagine what the other stories would be like.

So far I have only had the pleasure of reading Sweet Caroline by Jenifer Knox.
This short, taboo story was fun...in a dark, twisty way. It went in directions that I was not expecting, but definitely enjoyed. And the ending was sweet.

This is an amazing anthology filled with a great list of authors. At this time, I have only read Mine: Press Start to Continue written by Virginia Johnson. This story gives us a little back story on Ethan, a true heartthrob (More about Ethan can be found in the Aspen's Secret Series) and introduces us to Jane whose love is deadly. I hope this duo meets again, really enjoyed this one.
