While dumpster diving for food to feed his brother and himself, Peter Ames was discovered by the shop owner Cupid. When the offer for a free meal was giving to him, Peter was overjoyed at the prospect. Later, when Cupid offers him a job washing the dishes, a very grateful Peter would have done just about anything for the man who helped to make sure he could support himself and his brother Harvey.
When the wards that Cupid, the god of love, had placed around his namesake’s shop went off and he went to investigate, the last person he expected to meet was his mate. Upset at how busy his life already was, Cupid, or Eros as Peter preferred to call him, turned his back on his mate. When he realized that the Fates weren’t going to change their minds, Eros was horrified to find out that his neglect had left his mate near death.
But even with a god’s protection, life isn’t rainbow clouds and buttercups. A man from Peter’s past wants him dead and doesn’t care if anyone gets in his way. Will Peter and Eros ever be able to live their life as the Fates directed, or will Peter be struck down from someone else’s hatred?
I’ve been an avid reader for as long as I can remember. I still remember one of the first books I read, it was the Bobbsey Twins. As I got older, I moved into the more interesting books, but some of the typo’s made me nuts! So, after contacting writers I started a career of where I began editing, beta reading and brainstorming. After being harassed for a couple of years by some of the writers, I gave in and have now begun to write.
I live in central Canada with my hubby of over 25 years, 4 kids, and 5 grandkids. We have a collection of pets, including our guard cat. I love nothing more then curling up with a good book, or my laptop to work on the next thing that catches the muse.
I’m actually surprised by how much I liked this. The writing wasn’t anything spectacular, but the story was super cute. Light and fluffy even with the over the top drama.
I got a few pages into it and couldn’t get any further. The Author Lisa Oliver writes books that grab you in the first few pages. This Author. It was just awkward from the beginning. I gave up on it.
Rating: 2 stars I am going to be upfront with this review and state that I didn’t read the whole book. I read the first 58% and then skipped to the end and read the last two chapters and the epilogue. I loved the first part of the book. Loved Peter, Harvey, Cupid and Liam. All were wonderful characters. It was when Cupid/Eros was introduced that the book went downhill. I could not stand Eros at all. Add in the unnecessary drama at the end and the book just didn’t work as a whole. The epilogue sets up Harvey’s story and I really hope that it turns out better than this one. Like other reviewers, I'm left wondering how much Lisa Oliver really contributed to this story.
3.5 Stars.. A book that was good, as I read I enjoyed the start and was getting into the characters. Once I got to page 29 I got a little confused with Cupid's character then I figured out there are two of them, this really needed to have the two as separated names from the start to love this.. Eros was a bugger to Peter I could've given him a kick yah this got the emotions going. The little coincidences that snuck in was a meh and troubles for them got the story interesting to see what would happen. Would've loved the emotions at the start from Eros point of view for his thoughts of Peter. Cupid finds a man looking in his garbage and want to help him along with his hubby, Liam. Peter and his brother, Harvey are running with no food or money. Cupid is fast to offer him a job at the bakery and then he meets Eros..
There has been some mixed reviews over this, but having read it I would say that the quality is above average for much of the genre and an excellent first book for Dani. I can't wait for the next installment!
It doesn't have the same writing style as Lisa and is not as polished, but the story was a great read, it had unusual shifters, with good secondary characters and a fleshed out backstory.
There is a bit of a continuity error over the father's role in the beginning of the book, editing mistakes etc. But that is also common for a first self published kindle book.
This was a surprise to find two favored authors mew story. They blended well together. Enjoyed the character s. I hope they will continue working together. I need to what happens next.
It was a very good story. I liked how they are Sasquatch brothers and they found their mates. It was a very light tale. I really liked it Dani and I am a fan of Lisa’s so I assume that your going to make a #2? Anyway it was a good book.
This was such a sweet story, once Eros got his head out of his backside. I thought that Peter was a bit spineless to not even try to get Eros to change his mind about the initial rejection, but it all turned out in the end.
A great Cinderfella romance with Cupid/Eros finally meeting his mate. The ending was a sweet surprise. Dare I hope for a mini-series with these characters? Dani and Lisa as usually write what I love to read
Good collaboration between Dani and Lisa, the story was fun and entertaining as well as having you on the edge of your seat at times. Would love to find out about the bunny at the end in another story!
Enjoyed the story greatly except for the typos that were distracting. Lisa's books are an automatic 5 and this one has the potential to be one as well. I'm looking forward to reading more of Dani's work as she evolves as an author. I can wait to read Harvey and his Bunny shifter's story.
Such a great book could not put down loved the characters and I am hoping Harvey gets his story was not expecting the twist with the bad men that was good. Lisa Oliver is always my must buy person and I have never read any of Dani gray’s before but I will be looking for more now👍
Enjoyable Read. Delightful characters. story of Cupid/Eros (god) and Peter (Sasquatch). Other charters Mortals Cupid and Liam (an established couple) and Athena Cupid's sister. Harvey Peter's twin. Gods Athelia and Thor.
I normally like books byLisa Oliver, but this one just fell a bit flat. It was ok for an afternoon distraction, but if it was to become a series I would probably not rush to get a second book.
Pretty good... Got very confused with names in the beginning until things were explained. Did seem a bit rushed throughout the story also, but I'm curious to read the next installment.
This was an amazing read! The two authors complimented each other, creating a fabulous adventure and lovable characters! Hope we get some more of these lovelies!
Don’t go into this expecting a typical Lisa Oliver book. It is very much a collaborative work. It is a bit different, but once I got into the flow of this one I enjoyed it and I am looking forward to book 2!!
I loved this one more then the first. Well written with well developed characters. Awesome story. I hope we get to see Harvey's story next. This would make an awesome series. I am going to be checking out more of this author's work.
Great quick read. It was a bit confusing for there to be someone else with the same name as the MC, which is eventually cleared up. From what I understand, this is a spin off or next in series of one of Ms. Gray’s other works (I have not read any of her other works). Keeping that in mind, if you are a fan of Lisa Oliver, this story is a bit different than her solo works, but no less wonderful.
