UPDATED 2/25: The "bonus chapter" included in the final published book made all the difference and boosted my rating from 3 to 3.5/4 stars. Even if you already read the book, grab it on KU! It's worth it.

Get ready for some sensual rope play, D/s dynamic, glitter, and plaid.
I'm always a fan of the femme guy falling for the lumberjack and vice versa. Despite the bondage kink, however, this isn't a particularly steamy story. The lukewarm sexy bits were rather disappointing, truth be told.
The ending is a HFN. I didn't get a good enough feel of either MC to call it a HEA. The talk about monogamy didn't sit well with me. Honestly, Johnny didn't seem all that keen on it.
I needed more character and relationship development: fewer ropes and more kisses, please.

I know this is just a novella, but I still wanted more from a book in this series and from Annabeth Albert.
Lumber Jacked is very short, and I didn't think there was nearly enough time to develop real feelings during the story. I also am really not a fan of rope-work in the realm of BDSM, so kink-wise, the story and I didn't gel.
It was too short, too meh, too... forgettable.
Luckily, I picked this up when it was free, but otherwise I would have been even more disappointed.

Adorable doesn’t even cut it because this is just so fluffy and sensual. 😁 Not the combination you usually see but it worked! 👏 I’m also so glad to wait until the Amazon version came out because we now got a bonus epilogue for these two. I loved the dynamics and meet-cute between Cam and Johnny. I mean it’s not every day that a make-up loving lifestyle vlogger and a sexy Lumberjack Dom hooks up! 😉 And damn, the rope stuff really is so hot! 🔥 After reading this in one sitting, I spent hours looking at sexy Shibari rope work online. It’s so damn addicting and sensual. 😍 The part I especially liked about this book is while being short and emphasized on rope stuff and mild BDSM, Annabeth Albert did such a great job exploring the slow-burn romance between Cam and Johnny. It’s realistic and believable while still being romantic and extremely sensual. 💜 Did I say the smut is hot? Damn! 🔥 I might think about these two whenever I put on glitter eyeshadows. 😂 Thoroughly enjoyed this one and kinda hoping this one would come out in audio, preferably by Sean Crisden! Because that would be an eargasm! 😏 Loved it so much! 🥰

Not bad, but the story just didn't feel complete.
The kink was nice, I enjoyed the rope play.
I think I would have enjoyed it more if it was a bit longer and a bit more developed.

The extra chapters really made this a solid ending
I read this when it was part of a free giveaway but couldn't remember much.
Reading it again, it all came back to me and I enjoyed it all over again.
What solidified it as a good read though was the extra extended Epilogue of sorts which Annabeth included in this version.
It just capped what had been a solid HFN and turns into into a pretty obvious HEA.
The rope play shibari elements are really well done and I loved both characters.

I got the free version back when it was on Prolific Works so that's what I'm reviewing.
This could have been amazing but it was underdeveloped. I wish there was less ropes and scenes and photo-shoots and more relationship or bonding. It was also too insta-lovey.

Bondage is often portrayed as a power move. They use it to control, to restrain.
Here it was so artistic. And it was so sensual. And it was all about trust.
So while I really enjoyed this part. There wasn't much else to the story. It was lust, not love. At least I don't think they get to know each other well enough to fall in love, cuz other then these scenes, they didn't do much else.
I still recommend it though.
I do hope if and when this gets published at all retailers, it will be expanded a little.

Really well done
A lot was packed into this novella. The research on the rope play was obvious and felt authentic, but more than that, it was sexy, and I felt like I was able to get into the characters’ heads to see why they enjoyed it. The attraction between them was immediate but believable, and I loved the touch of Cam wearing makeup. It was a lot of fun.

Despite this being set-up in Rainbow Cove novella, it's pretty much stand alone. No need to read the previous novels. I think this one is free until February 15th, 2019 :)

A bare-chested man removing his flannel is the main focus on this cover, a hint of wilderness is seen over his shoulder. The title font is big and bold with the series and author font below being legible. The bronzed body and bold title catch the eye, but – for this – it was the author name that made me pause and pick it up without reading the synopsis.

Cam’s in Rainbow Cove to help take care of his aunt. Johnny’s a lifelong resident.
No sooner does Cam get off the phone with his best friend, Kess, after wishing for a lumberjack, does Johnny arrive on Aunt Martha’s doorstep in response to a tree removal job she called about.
Before he leaves, he propositions Cam. Yes, there’s an age gap noted and mentioned once or twice but it is not a focal point or an element of conflict in the plot. In fact, other than some minor self-doubt, there’s really no major conflicts.
As with any short story, it’s hard to feel the bond between the lead characters and sometimes equally hard to relate or form an attachment to them as a reader. I found that to be the case with this one. It seemed to go from stranger to full trust in a matter of hours, then a flash forward to love. While I liked the characters, I prefer the stories to be a little bit longer to allow the reader to bond with the cast.
Dialogue and interactions were good. Predictability was low. The conclusion was satisfactory. Though set in the Rainbow Cove world, it stands alone just fine.

Great story! Age gap, femme guy vs. lumberjack, pink vs. plaid, add a little rope bondage, a camera, and yes, I really enjoyed every minute of this story. And to top it all, it was a free Valentine's Day gift from the author.
I wish it had been longer, but I'm not going to turn down a freebie. I hope we get more of these guys in the future.

Short stories are really had to get right but Annabeth Albert gets this sweet kinky story between Cam and Johnny exactly right.
She pours detail into the younger more out loud Cam and surprising depths in the older more steady Johnny.

The characters and writing are superb!! The scenes are top notch 😁. You cannot help but be swept up in the story. If I had one complaint - it should have been longer.😀 She is a fabulous author!

The was a short read in the Rainbow Cove series but I really loved it. It takes a very good author to write a boo I enjoyed as much as this about a subject that usually doesn’t interest me. I don’t find men in makeup or rope bondage a turn on. Annabeth Albert made me love both those things in this story. My only complaint was that it was too short.

Cam und Johnny sind ein sympathisches Pärchen und die Geschichte ist passend zum Namen ein echtes Häppchen zum Vernaschen.
Der Funke ist bei mir dennoch nicht übergesprungen, dafür ist die Geschichte zu kurz und irgendwie auch nichtssagend. Ich weiß nicht, wie ich es besser ausdrücken soll. Sie bleibt einfach nicht im Gedächtnis, was ich schade finde, denn wie gesagt, die Sympathie mit den beiden Protagonisten ist von Anfang an da und bleibt bis zum Schluss.
Sie sind ein nettes Paar, aber nett reicht mir persönlich nicht für volle Punktzahl.
