What do you do when you think you are trapped in the wrong job? Leave the job and do what you love. Simple, isn’t it? But what if you neither have the guts to leave the job nor know what you love to do? Complicated, isn’t it? Meet Raghav, who like millions of other software professionals, is stuck in a similar situation. But don’t worry, his destiny has better plans for him. What plans you may ask? Well, getting him fired. This novella takes you on a light-hearted tour of the contemporary software industry where you can ask the haunting question loudly- is getting sacked a blessing in disguise?
About the author Sandeep is a software professional and lives in Pune. He is an IIT Bombay alumnus but doesn't brag about it unless a situation emerge. He spends more time observing people than on his monitor. He loves tea but hates many things like writing about himself as a third person. Thank God I'm Fired is his second book.
** I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you so much, Sandeep! Your short story was great!! =)**
”Sometimes, when you can’t do what you want, destiny does it for you.”
And thanks for that! *lol* Otherwise our hero would still be stuck at his company and wouldn’t do what he loves. Which would have been very sad and kind of depressing. As it is Raghav’s company beat him to it and fired him before he even got a proper chance to send his resignation mail. In retrospective this was great though because he still got a two month’s salary and this even though he could look for a new job. ;-) So you might say they kind of did him a favour. XD
”If you want to reach somewhere, you need to leave from somewhere.”
Truer words have never been spoken and that’s exactly one of the many reasons why I enjoyed this short story so much. As it seems Sandeep always manages to give his books a very optimistic and humorous approach and I kinda love him for it. This short story came exactly at the right time and for an hour or two I was so engrossed in it that I actually forgot about the rest of the world. I’m a huge fan of Sandeep’s habit to include little pieces of wisdom that jump right at you when you least expect them and even though this was a really short book I loved Indu’s character right from the beginning.
”In fact there won’t be any time where you won’t have problems. They will always be there, just their form gets changed.”
What a great and wise woman! I swear I wouldn’t have minded to read even more about her. Raghav’s and her conversations were so adorable and I’ve to admit that I shipped them like crazy. Their relationship just felt so real and they got to know each other so effortlessly that it was a pleasure to read about their talks. Also I liked that Raghav thought so much about his situation, to resign is a huge step and I could understand that he agonized about his decision. Plus I think there comes a time in everyone’s life when you have to decide whether you want to stay at your company or whether you want to move on.
”From their view, I was settled. From my view, a lot of others were settled. Being settled is a subjective business. But in fact, no one is, unless they’ve their mind settled in peace.”
It’s no easy decision and usually everyone thinks long and hard about it before they take the necessary steps. In the end it always comes down to the most important question though: Do you enjoy what you do? Raghav eventually finds his answer and with his decision the book ends.
”Failing is okay, regret is more painful.”
This said: I really enjoyed “Thank God I’m Fired” and for some reason this was exactly the kind of book I needed to read. It are rather tough and trying times right now and when I read the ending it made me happy and I closed the book with a smile. Seriously, what more could you ask for? =)
______________________________
They say you should always stay optimistic so this short story sounds interesting! =) I think a lot of people can relate to its title. (I definitely can… my old job sucked. *lol*)
So thank you Sandeep for offering me this review copy!
I’m already looking forward to the funny moments because I know there will be some in this! XD
Go and ask any IT guys what is the toughest part of their job switch period? Well, it is the notice period. That deliberately kept (mostly) non-productive time of their life, which can be used better way, was usually wasted in make documentations, following exit process and sitting ideal as new assignments are not existent. I had served 3 full notice in my life ( approximately 6 months of my life). Many guys lose a chance to win extra bucks (joining bonuses & incentives) as they cannot do it without paying penalties in the current job.
Few lucky guys get an offer and the company asks them to leave immediately with full pay. Such lucky guys even get joining bonus from the next company. Well, such cases are rare 1 in 100 resignees (I assume).
The story of "Thank God I'm Fired" is there story of one such lucky guy. The protagonist of the story is Raghav, a software professional with a non-circuit branch. He found himself a misfit in his IT job. He got fired a minute before he could send his resignation. Do read the book to know why he wanted to resign.
The feeling of nostalgia didn't leave me while reading the book. Those noisy cafeterias, tea shop outside offices, long hours in cubical and boring full house meetings, the list is endless. It reminded me of those guys who keep finding startup ideas which he never is going to try for himself. I like motivational lines used in stories at various places. The way Raghav found out his passion and his dedication to giving it a try.
It is a short read with a fast-paced narrative. You may finish this little guy in 1-2 hours.
Many thanks to the author for a chance to read and review this book. All opinions are expressed voluntarily.
Thank God I read THANK GOD I’M FIRED by Sandeep Pawar 😊 😊 😊
The dry humor that is used to capture the quintessential dilemma of an IT millennial is so fitting and relevant. The author talks about the conundrum of many a corporate employee having to toil day in and day out with no job satisfaction. India is a country where every 2nd person you meet is an engineer who talks about their crazy managers and working hours. Having been part of this work environment the story became perfectly relatable.
Woe betide any Banglorean who has an emergency, the joke doing the rounds that one will probably die on the road before even getting to the hospital due to its famous or rather infamous traffic snarls. To open the chapter with that particular scenario set the tone for the whole novella.
The author has kept it absolutely real thru its protagonist Raghav, who like many of us has no clue as to what work will provide joy with no way of discovering one’s hidden talents. The sweet romance between Indu and Raghav was light-hearted and the ending with a very realistic approach was exceptionally done.
If you are part of the IT workforce stuck at home due to this pandemic, go ahead and read this witty and funny story simply for the smile it brings forth.
This review is published in my blog https://rainnbooks.com/; Amazon India, Goodreads, and Twitter.
It was a recommendation by sunshine and I added it for three reasons. 1. A recommendation 2. A short story 3. About IT
The story was quite relatable. I'm from IT, duh. I have 'been there, done that' feeling right now :-)
Now, lets come to the main reason of reading the story - reason #0. I am a software engineer. Our indices start from zero, people. I have written a short story The Uncertainty: Tiny Tales #3 around the topic of layoffs. Of course, if you know me, my style was a bit serious and sarcastic and cynical. The story aimed at identifying the baseless assumptions and paranoia. This book is different. I LOVE the cover. The title is also catchy and interesting. Definitely much better than my boring title - Uncertainty. What was I thinking?
Right, back to the review. The story is about Raghav and his internal and eternal conflict of whether he should follow his ambitions or be stuck in the corporate world forever.
This story had a slightly different angle. The main theme, per my understanding, was about Raghav discovering his passion. With a romantic angle thrown in, it made for a good read.
This may be the first book that I finished in 2019, all thanks to my hectic schedule, but I am glad this book came along my way.
The book is pretty crisp and short, and the only reason why I took so long to read it was all because of me. (Honestly, I finished the book in two readings over a span of so many days.)
The story is simple, and is exactly what the title aims to reflect. +2 for having a title and blurb that is actually related to the story. I read so many books last year that had excellent titles and plot lines but failed miserably to deliver when it came to the actual content. This book was nothing like that. You got exactly what you signed up for (and a little more).
The language is simple and flows. I am quite a fan of short sentences and simple language, so this book definitely worked for me. However, there were few grammatical errors, which can be easily weeded out in the next round of editing. I wouldn't bother about it much.
Story-line and Plot: When I read the plot, I was expecting the mundane I-am-frustrated-with-my-job-and-don't-know-what-to-do kind of narrative. While the major plot is that, it has a very fresh take on the age-old issue of paisa v passion. Plus, the author has managed to give a very in-tune with the times twist to the plot.
Personally, I would've liked it more if the book was longer. The story picks up very fast and the end came too soon. It made me want more. (Maybe the author has a sequel planned?) But that's the mark of a good book, leaving the reader wanting for more.
At 43 pages, it is a slightly lengthy short story than a novella. It is about an IT professional searching for his real calling. Writing was breezy and read a lot like Durjoy Dutta. I mean in terms of style. I have read only one Durjoy Dutta and that too his first novel, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. There wasn't great humour but there wasn't any trying too hard to be funny either. A light, very likeable romance has been woven into it. Not sure if this is the debut of the author, but I think he has to up his game in terms of writing. The story is easily relatable and the plot points are not bad.
Raghav just got fired; does it make him happy since he always believed he was struck in the wrong job or losing his first job abruptly is gonna upset him?
The story starts with the inevitable happening, the protagonist Raghav getting fired, and then the narration goes back in time from when he joined the job, his experiences in past few months, his colleagues, his team, his work, the general environment of his workplace. A chance encounter helps Raghav rekindle his friendship with his training batch mate Indu, and how this relationship brings the much needed motivation and change in his life forms the rest of the story.
The story starts as any other contemporary fiction with the backdrop of a corporate and how the employees are unhappy with their professional life, how they try to escape their monotonous work life. However, the story gradually builds into more prominent stuff with Indu coming across other skills of Raghav and motivating him to make that big decision about his future and his career.
This is a short story and stays to the point without unnecessary stuff. Within the limited pages, the characters are built well and the story is engrossing till the end. I could only wish the theme to be something different and unique as corporate life has been a done-to-death concept off late.
Pick this one for a short fun read which also has a good message at the end. If you are someone from IT profession, you will relate more to the story.
Thank God I'm Fired by Sandeep Pawar is the story of a guy who is fed up of corporate life and wants to do something for himself.
The story starts with Raghav being tensed about sending his resignation letter to his boss get called in by him. He, without any explanations got immediately relieved from office with 2 months salary at hand. Pretending to be sad, he couldn't keep up to his happiness and told his friend, Indu.
It all started when he wasn't happy with his job. It became his monotonous life. He kind of fell for his colleague Indu and on her birthday, gifted her a handmade card full of memes created by him. She loved it and referred him to her known memesters.
What will be the Raghav's plan of action now? What will he do after he leaves his job? Well you'll have to read this novella for that.
The story and plot of book was good. It hardly took me an hour to read. The narration was upto the mark and it kept me hooked till end. I really liked the concept of doing what your heart wants.
Character of Raghav was aptly portrayed and his progress over the pages was remarkable. The title perfectly suits the book and it sounds a bit funny too but the cover is not up to mark. It seems like a poster for advertisement.
Overall I enjoyed reading the book and maybe you'll too.
This short and apt novella strikes the chord right from the start- starting from the cover to the end. The well-versed narration and description of the IT world feel as if everything is happening in front of our eyes. As it is a first-person perspective, you could feel you are in the protagonist's shoes and watching everything in reality. Author's description doesn't fail to make a movie running in your backhead. Indu, the other main character, surely gives 'girlfriend' goals. What a true (girl)friend should do in the name of advice. There is no exaggeration, there is no cliche. And thus relates more. The story doesn't deviate from its main topic. Never. The humor, wit, sarcasm and self-deprecating humor are perfectly synched to make it a funny, introspective and entertaining read.
Highly recommended. Especially who are into corporates, and who are fed up with their jobs, and for others too! Haha!
The title was fascinating enough for me to read this book.
This is a feel-good, no cliche novel about an IT professional who is like most of us, stuck in the 'IT life crisis'.
“Give yourself a fair chance” (Do we?)
Raghav, a normal, disappointed, bored of routine IT guy discloses his deepest fear of losing his job to a few of his friends and seeks for their advice. On one such situation he expresses his fear to one of his colleagues Indhu and through her, he receives an opportunity to become a professional meme creator (Yes, you read it right!) which expects him to work full-time and unlike his current job, there is no guarantee for a fixed salary. Did Raghav, choose it? Or did he decide to go back to his not-so-safe mundane job? Did he give himself a fair chance? is the rest of the story is about :)
‘Coherence’, is one of the important aspects I expect in a book. To my delight, I could easily give 9/10 for this novella. This is a perfect short read to unwind ;) and importantly, I knew what to expect from this book just by reading the title.
I think in the future, the author should work further on building up complex plots and powerful characters
“Even though I may fail at what I’m planning, at least ten years down the line, I won’t say, ‘At least I should have tried that.’ Failing is okay, regret is more painful.”
“Thank God I’m Fired” tells the story of Raghav who is stuck in a job which, he doesn’t like. Now, that sounds familiar. However, I think this Novella is more than that, it talks about Job satisfaction, work culture and corporate environment. It deals with finding your own niche in the world which is full of opportunities and yet feels so limited and somewhere it is also about surrounding yourself with people who genuinely care for your well-being.
There are so many people who aren’t satisfied with their jobs and yet they remain at their positions and continue working on something which doesn’t bring them happiness because somewhere it all comes down to a sense of financial security and the fact that they have no idea what they must do next. Same is the case with Raghav, he knows he is not happy but he can’t decide how to move forward to something new, he is afraid of failure and I think the author did a brilliant and honest job in portraying Raghav’s dilemma and insecurities. He like so many others, is afraid to take that leap of faith and once again this book does an amazing job of depicting that the path ahead may be full of obstacles but sometimes taking risks can also be the best thing that has ever happen to you. So, I suppose this book is a love letter to all those people who wants to change their career path but aren’t courageous enough to do so.
I also loved the Author’s subtlety in pointing out the fact that there are a lot of people who will try to advice you, some may even genuinely care but there are only a few who will truly understand, what you actually need and in that respect, I loved the relationship between Indu and Raghav. I really loved how much Indu supported and trusted Raghav, even when he doubted himself and his potentials. The only reason I am not giving this book a higher rating is because I think the writing style needs some improvement. There’s a lot of telling and a lot less showing which, is the major problem I have found with many budding writers. That said, pick this up if you are looking for a short motivational read which is also humorous, heart-warming and relatable.
P.S- Review copy provided by Author, in exchange for my honest opinion!
This story is relatable to everyone who are striving with an unsatisfactory corporate job. Raghav, falls into that category, who relaises that his talent is being wasted in the corporate world and his work is far away from the skills he own. When he was unable to arrive at a conclusion of how to proceed with such an unsatisfying life, he comes across Indhu, who was once his batch mate. Indhu shows him the light at the end of the tunnel. But then the real fear creeps up, the fear of leaving the good to go for the better.
Was he able to go for the better leaving behind every alluring offers of the corporate world or was he still struck with his job, hoping it will change someday. Read the book to find your answers.
Review :
This book exactly portrays the life of every corporate employee - the excitement for bonus, tea stall, bitching boss, mundane work, sudden layoffs etc. It gives a deep insight into the world of software firms. This novella is not just about Raghav but also about every IT employees who are still doubtful about their life. At the end, the story leaves a trail of smile on the readers face.
The lucid language and the usage of easy words, makes it a comfortable read and it can be finished off in a single sitting. The narration is in first person which helps to connect well with the inner turmoil of the protagonist, Raghav. This story motivates the readers to take an extra step for a satisfactory life. The cover aptly suits the book and the title as well as blurb is intriguing.
Pros :
1 .No exaggeration.
2. Flowy narration. Didn't divert from the plot anywhere.
No cons. But the chapters could have been cut short into many parts. The story is perfect and is clear at what it wants to deliver to the readers.
Are you also stuck in a 9 to 5 job ? Or you’re doing something which you don’t like.
Or you want to do something which interests you .
If yes, then this book is for you.
Raghav, the protagonist, is unhappy with his job and wants to do something which makes him happy. He’s confused and still not sure what exactly does he want. Plus his fear of losing his job makes things worse for him.
He shares his problems, the hatred for this job and everything with Indu.
He wanted to something which interests him. And soon the opportunity knocked on his door. He was offered to do something which he liked the most.
But he’s still in a dilemma whether to leave his job or not.
With this confusion, will he leave his job?
Does Raghav have the courage to quit his job and follow his dreams?
Read the book to find out.
Review :
🌟 The first thing I noticed in this book was its title. It’s very interesting and catchy.
🌟 Cover was also good and goes well with the story.
🌟 Story was nice.. and it was written in a very realistic way. I really appreciate that.
🌟 Language was easy to understand and the narration was also nice.
🌟 I got a little confused in the beginning due to the introduction of many characters at once.
🌟 Story is very relatable. And it not only applies for the job but in every field. Most of the times it happens that we want to do something else but due to some reasons we’re not able to follow our dreams.
🌟 Plot was simple. Corporate life is portrayed perfectly in this book.
I’ve picked this up as I was browsing through Prime reading options and the title of the book caught my eye. I don’t regret picking up this book and I say this very honestly.
The story is very aptly close to mine except I didn’t get lucky enough to be fired but I resigned the job and I’m not meme maker but an art maker. I resigned to give myself a fair chance and in my case my wife was with me all through.
The book is a quick and simple read with ton of one liners that strike the chord. This book has the potential to give strength to millions of employees who go to work but do not enjoy work and cannot quit. I’d be happy to recommend and gift this book to every single IT employee who wakes up every morning and drag their energy less bodies and least creative brains to work just because they have to put a meal on table. Great book.
Thank you for writing such a simple and touching book. I’d be willing to read more from the author.
The main protagonist of the story is Raghav who is a software engineer. As, the title already suggests that he gets fired on the day when he himself thought of resignation. The whole truth behind nine to five job is shown here. What is going to happen in future? Is he going to end up with nine to five again? Go ahead and grab your copy! The cover of the book is related to the story but I think that it could have been better. The story is really relatable to real life situations and experiences. A well researched book. The narration could have been better. Language used is simple and easy to understand. Writing style of the author is good. The characters are not properly developed but the main character was described well. It was a short read, you can just complete it in one sitting. But, everything was quite predictable. Overall, it was a okayish read!
The blurb of the story caught my eye when I was approached to read it, especially because since I’am going through the very same dilemma like the protagonist in this story. A short book which is fast paced. I was hooked to the book from the very first page, with the language kept simple. The IT related puns were really funny.

A tale quite close to the heart. This is probably going on with at least 70% of the Indian graduates, want to do something, ending up doing something else. Like the book, there's no definite answer, no definite road to success. Felt like a page out of an average Indian graduate. Well written in the simplest of English. A good short read.
There are a lot of other options, you just need to keep calm and not be furious enough to loose you self confidence and esteem.
Thank God, I’m Fired is a novella by Sandeep Pawar on a corporate salaried employee whose services were terminated in a situation of lay-off by an IT company in the stress economical situation. Lay-off Situation may arise in a company regardless of industry or economical situation and in the book an IT company got this particular situation. (it can be very well relate to recent Jet Airways crisis). Those who lost
I would say that through the book, in the shadow of storyline, author had tried to give a very good lesson about not being dominated by negative situation which is really appreciable. Book contains a lot of apprehension about growth slow-down and lay-off situation in a company, apprehensions about employees lives who loose their jobs resultantly and future course of actions and apprehensions about loosing jobs and earning skills.
Things I liked were- 1. Language of the book was easy and comfortable. 2. Narration style of the author was spectacular. 3. Limited Characters were used and all were well developed and portrayed. 4. Plot of the book was realistic, intriguing and thrilling due to well execution. 5. Title and Cover of the was eye-catching. One of the reasons for picking up the book. 6. Book talks about a serious and senstive subject matter in a very light and calm manner. 7. Book gives lessons, motivation and hope of how things can work.
Things I didn’t like were- 1. Storyline could finish in a better fashion. More of the storyline was about “I’m fired” and only a little part in the end of the book calls for “Thank –God”. Idea of how “skills are permanent” could also be accommodated in the last section by portraying a little bit more detailed version of today’s life of protagonist.
Though I would particularly recommend to salaried class employees, this book is helpful for every reader who seeks motivation, confidence and calmness. A rich and worthy book.
I met the author on Instagram. He was participating in this year's Amazon Pen to Publish contest and suggested his book to me. I liked the blurb, so I decided to give it a read.
As I went through the first few pages, I was hooked. Since I have worked in the corporate industry myself, I could relate with the scenario that the protagonist finds himself in. I liked the attempts at comedy, some lines even had me laughing out loud. The story has a nice flow to it, and the adorable romance between the protagonist and his girlfriend was heartwarming. The story was inspiring for people who are bored of their current job and want to try out something different but are unsure of their talents. I really liked how the author has shown the discovery of the protagonist's talent and how he even manages to find a job that will keep him happy. However, the portrayal of the above is realistic, with the risks also clearly mentioned.
The language is simple and smooth, but like almost every debut author, the occasional grammatical and punctuation errors do dampen the reading experience.
However, I loved reading this short novella, and I recommend it to readers, especially to those belonging to the software industry. I'm sure you'll love it.
3.8 out of 5 stars for this sweet, funny, inspiring novella.
"The world is not over if you lose your job. There are a lot of other options, you just need to keep calm and not be furious enough to lose your self-confidence and esteem" I just loved the way the book is narrated. So, the title says it all! After losing a job, the main protagonist Raghav at first was a little bit confused and somehow he was happy too because he even was not happy with his job, as he wanted to be his own boss and wanted to do something innovative, he believed in skills, ideas! "A job is temporary, skills are permanent" And suddenly his fate made him meet with Indu, and suddenly his life got a new turn. Although the book is really short but I just loved the concept and the way the author discussed all the ideas. The storytelling process is really good. The language is lucid and the cover is still simple. The title is appropriate! I really enjoyed the book. A must read book!
I had a thought provoking experience with this book. The plot of which basically revolves around the practical life in corporates. Here, the protagonist, Raghav, was not only living a life with self-doubt and fear but also disappointments, till all of a sudden he was fired. Will this be a blessing in disguise that would let him live his dream? Or a demise of faith to rebuild the unstable?
The book is quite well written. Also, the description is decent neither exagarated nor shortened. People working in corporate can easily relate to it as the scenarios described were quite practical. Conclusion : It is a thought provoking read. I am quite happy to have found attractive phrases with hardly any grammatical errors.
Title : Thank God I'm Fired Author : Sandeep Pawar
The protagonist of this story is Raghav,an IT employee. How his dissatisfaction made him to take a big decision in his life is this story. I can't say more because that might turn into a spoiler🙊
Language is simple and easy. I loved the flow in this story. This story beautifully explains that if we do something that is far away from our interest, then our life will be in misery. The mind set of the protagonist is very well expressed as it is the most important thing in this story. There is a lack of character description in the story, but that didn't affect the plot. The protagonist is a funny person and I liked it. One can finish this book in one sitting.
"Having a purpose is the difference between making a living and making a life"_Tom Thiss This is story of everyone out there whose doing their job 9 to 5 just for sake of money, he doesn't love his work but he/she forced himself to do their job daily. Sometimes we do it for family pressure or social pressure but it has a very adverse impact on ourselves, we want to quit job and want to do something which we want to do ,something on his own and very few of us has that courage to leave job or follow their dreams. So this story belong to everyone and very interesting happened with Raghav when he decides to leave his job. As name is very catchy and book cover is also nice. Short and intresting story go for it.
Thank God I'm Fired by Sandeep Pawar is a book about Raghav, who works in a IT sector and got fired. This book is related to the IT professionals. The language is lucid and easy to understand. Can be read anytime.......
Raghav wants to quit his job. He was done with the corporate world. Luckily, he gets fired the same day he decides to resign. This is a short story of him quitting his IT job. If you are from IT company, you will definitely enjoy reading this book.
Book Title: Thank God I'm Fired: A Corporate Enigma Author: Sandeep Pawar Format: Kindle Edition
Book Title: The title of the book is ‘Thank God I'm Fired: A Corporate Enigma’ is very unique and interesting.

Plot: Easy money, bonus, shifts, onsite opportunities, foreign culture, polished work area, style, etc are the baits of the corporate world to keep their employees to stick to companies. Well, most of the youngsters like whatever is offered from the company apart from the salary. Obviously, the relaxing five days a week job with the multiple facilities will tempt the employee in all the possible ways.

What I like:
1. The story begins with a twist and makes the reader complete the story at one go. 2. Honest writing is the main essence of the story. 3. The usage of colloquial and technical language made it very relatable. What I didn’t like: In particular, there are no negatives points in it. The ‘IT firm’ concept is kind of old and the reader can estimate the story in advance and certain scenes are guessable.

Narration: The narration of all the story is very well done and it will grasp the minds of the readers

♥Thank God I'M Fired By Sandeep Pawar ♥Genre: Fiction . Plot: Meet Raghav, who like millions of other software professionals, is stuck in a similar situation. But don’t worry, his destiny has better plans for him. What plans you may ask? Well, getting him fired. This novella takes you on a light-hearted tour of the contemporary software industry where you can ask the haunting question loudly- is getting sacked a blessing in disguise? . My Opinion: Well, I picked the book considering the blurb which I quite liked. Guys, tell me seriously how does it feels to be in a profession we don't wanna work, it's hell. The book straightforwardly represents the character Raghav who is facing the same condition which is faced by various corporate employees these days. Working for more than 12 hours, still no development, painful life, stuck daily routine, working monotonously like a robot is not easy & neither of Raghav. Going through all the pain provided by life he is still trying to cope up with is current situation along with the thought of his future. The is very short 45 pages or so. The book has a flow of language. The cover is suitable & the title is amazing. . Pros: The book felt relatable at points though I don't work as one. It's half an hour read, with very simple language & very simple characters. Represents the current facts about corporate jobs. I liked that the author has no exaggerated or over wrote just to increase the pages. It's a short & good one time read. Even recommended to beginners, I liked it. Cons: Narration could be more stronger, felt monotonous at parts. . Rating: 3.25🌟
The story is about Raghav who is not satisfy from his 9-5 job. He feels that he is not using his skills to the maximum. He is frustrated of doing mundane work each and everyday and hence want to break free of that cubicle and corporate atmosphere. But does he have a back up plan? Does he know what is his true calling? What will he do ultimately resign and take a risk or stick to the secure mundane job?
Review-
It is short novella and the plot of the story is quite simple. But what written inside is different. It almost answers all your questions regarding quitting a corporate job.
It does not bash corporate job at all. It just shows that maybe it works for someone but does not work for everyone. There are characters who are satisfied in their work but there are others who genuinely want to explore something out of the box.
Though it is very short but it definitely catches the corporate atmosphere perfectly. Being in the corporate world I totally understand the pun and the frustration. The narration of the story is very good and it keeps you hooked
The thing I like the most about the book is that it does not say 'Happily Ever After' rather say that its just the beginning because you never know how you will be successful. Some people know from the very start what is their calling while for some trial and error works. Hence you can only decide for your ownself.
Definitely recommended it to all those who are frustrated from their job or are confused about it. Do give this novella a try as it won't take much of your time just 30-45 minutes.
