The action alternates between present day and seven years earlier. The reader witnesses the build up to present circumstances. Louise Mangos has produced an intricate plotline. This was my introduction to Louise Mangos and if I only go by this novel, I don't know that I'll be reading more. The imagery was great and I love things set in countries that are not my own but that's not enough to keep me interested. The story was slow; it only picked up in the last 20% or so. It's touted as a psychological thriller but I think it sits on the fringes of that genre. There was nothing thrilling about ...more

Ive been looking forward to this book for a long time and I was very lucky to receive an ARC through Netgalley. Well I was not disappointed, in fact I was pleasantly surprised. This is a good read but a bit slow at times.

This isnt a suspenseful on the edge of your seat story but more a tragic tale. The fact that our main character, Lucie, is only 26 at the end of this saga makes it all the more of a cautionary tale for young naive love in the if it seems to good to be true...

In her mind, Matt is the perfect man, but right from the start the reader sees his dark side. Lucie refuses to acknowledge that all is not what it seems. After leaving Art university Lucie goes to Switzerland. She plans to travel around Europe, but she doesn't have enough money for it, after meeting Matt, she decides to stay a little longer in this beautiful country.
Everyone warns her about Matt, yet she doesn't listen. She even decides to keeps the pregnancy, despite Matt's and his family's objections.
Matt seems perfect on location at this gorgeous Swiss ski resort but looks ain't everything.
Matt has a dark side one that threatens to tear away at the very fabric.
Prison is not quite where she expected to be and fighting for her life is surely not the ideal romance.
Thank you to Louise, the publisher, NetGalley, and Aldiko for this ARC in exchange for this honest review.
This story had me gripped from the start. It was easy to follow and simply an interesting story!
My interest never lulled during the novel as it does with so many others. I can't find the words to describe how much I enjoyed this book.
The final plot twist of this book made me physically gasp out loud... And that is exactly what you want from a plot twist.
