Hannah
One minute we were a family of four—then, in the blink of an eye, half of my world was gone.

Nearly two years after I received the phone call that changed my life forever, we’re living in a new town and facing new opportunities.

All I want is to be a strong parent for my son and build a good life. I’m still fighting to figure out how to be okay. Falling for someone? Not in the cards for me. I had my happily ever after.

Until he appears.

One look from the ex-NFL player turned high school football coach brings my soul to life. But the man tests my patience with his arrogance. He knows how to manage his players and his students, but he needs a major ego adjustment.

Every night when my eyes close, I tell myself there’s no way I’ll fall for Wyatt Hamilton, I can’t . . . he’s my son’s new coach.

Wyatt
She’s the last thing that I expected. But I’m drawn to her.

When she stepped onto my field with her long sexy legs, arms covered in tiny geometric tattoos, dark hair and her perfect kissable lips—she stoked a fire inside me. I never dreamed that I’d feel that spark again.

Hannah Richman understands my anguish and emotional turmoil, because she’s been through the same hell.

Wanting her is taboo—forbidden. She’s the mother of one of my students.

No matter how much I crave her . . . there’s no way I can have her, it would be inappropriate.

We’re about to redefine that word.

I was drawn to this book for so many reasons. First, because I basically cannot resist any romance featuring football. Second, because this didn’t appear to be your average football romance (and it wasn’t). Third, something about the cover and the title, my heart latched on to it at first sight and I knew I was going to make this book my introductory Christy Pastore experience.

And?

And it was perfectly lovely.

It wasn’t quite as dramatic as I was expecting. It didn’t punch quite as hard as I was afraid it might. But I was okay with that. Because what it did do, was give me this stripped-down, simple, emotional, good old-fashioned second-chance romance (with light forbidden romance elements).

It just felt good to read this story. I mean, don’t get me wrong, it was still plenty emotional, because there is a lot of baggage and past pain that Hannah and Wyatt have to work through. In a way, it was almost like getting to experience a first love all over again, a true second chance, and I loved every minute of that ride. The chemistry between Wyatt and Hannah was full of those fun sparks and witty banter that I find completely irresistible. With a plucky, sassy heroine and a charming, heartfelt hero – there was no way this story could go wrong. Add in a hefty helping of heat, and a dollop of angst and I was hooked from start to finish.

The First Lights is a very quick, easy read, and – as I mentioned – my first by this author. I enjoyed every moment and will definitely be back for more! ~ Shelly, 4 Stars

4.5 Stars!

This was my second book by this author and I absolutely loved it. Once I started The First Lights, I couldn't stop. I was set on devouring all the sweet romance and football scenes!

"When I make my move, there won't be any question."

...right there ladies, is where I lost it. Completely lost it. I wanted nothing more then for Wyatt to make his move! GAH! So many dreamy sighs coming from me during this book because Wyatt was seriously the perfect book boyfriend. He hit every single one of my favorites! Athletic. Check! Dog owner. Check! NFL football player...turned high school coach? Check! A sweet hero with a little alpha in him? Check! Did I mention dog owner?! All the heart-eyes!

And can I be Hannah's friend?! I wanted to hug her. And give her chocolate and wine. This strong, yet broken at the same time, incredible woman was so easy for me to love! I wanted nothing more then for her to find a happy ending because if any one deserved it, it was her.

There were also tears. So many tears--literally right out of the gate with The First Lights. This book was packed with so many beautiful feels. A punch to the heart because both Wyatt and Hannah were literally two broken halves that were destined to heal each other. Christy had me an emotional mess throughout most of their story, and I wouldn't have had it any other way.

When your life just derails and the world as it seems comes to an end....where do broken hearts go.
They hopefully meet in bakery or the diner !
Lemon Raspberry cupcakes and chocolate brownie cake belong together #JustSaying

description

Coach Wyatt Hamilton and Hannah Richman are such soul mirrors. Both had their loves of their lives torn away from them and they're lost. Chance brings them together and they both feel the flutter in their dormant hearts and the story enters into the forbidden zone. He's her son's teacher and coach so the line has been drwan on the field indelibly. But rules are meant to be broken all the time.
"La vita è bella, la vita è amore."
"‘Life is beautiful, life is love.’”

description

And as it should be. When you find a person who gets you, believes you and loves all your broke pieces and holds you so tight that your pieces all start to stick together, you hold on to them. Through controversies, through turmoil, through family strifes, everything becomes secondary when heart finds true love
“I might be going down a dangerous road.” Wyatt pushed off the wall.
“You might, or it could be the ride of your life.”

description

Well you gotta take chances, that leap and hope you land on your feet!
I love that the couple is older and mature. The writing is so full of emotions and passion.
I enjoyed reading it

This was a well written book with lovable characters. We had some tear jerker moments for both Wyatt and Hannah. I liked that they both had a similar past and they could relate to each other. They had some smoking hot chemistry and their banter was off the charts. Hannah was a spitfire and Wyatt was hot and swoony. And those sexy times were something else! Now here comes the tricky part. My slight issue with the story is that as it progressed it got a little predictable for my liking. I loved majority of the book but the last few chapters didn’t hit me the way I had anticipated. Nonetheless this is an author who I will continue to read.

The First Lights

Going through Hell is a hard road to travel. Coach Wyatt Hamilton and Hannah Richman can testify to this! Having lost more than anyone deserves to, they have managed to keep breathing and have started their lives over.

Hannah is a single mother of a 17 year old son. Living in a new town, starting a new job, wanting what’s best for her only child still living. Hopefully, with starting over in the new town, she will be able to make new friends and call this place home.

Coach Wyatt has been in the spotlight before. His NFL career took him everywhere with his wife and son. Earning championships and movie deals. But now, his life is so different. No wife…no child. Spending his days teaching High School history and coaching the High School football team is all his life is now.

When these two meet, it isn’t a nice meeting, that’s for sure. But a momma bear will always stick up for her little cub, right? Especially when it’s her only cub.

The payback to the way Wyatt was talked to, priceless!!! Someday I need to order a Denver Omelet after hours 😉

The inappropriate behavior between these two adults are fueling some of the town folk. The War is about to begin, who will come out on top?
Will it be the Lemon Raspberry Cupcakes or the Chocolate Brownie Cake???

Christy Pastore is always good for a good, solid, romance read! This one did not disappoint.

This book hits you with the emotions earlier on. It is a story about two people who lost their entire worlds, one literally lost his world and the other had to hold her self together for her son. Wyatt and Hannah had so much tragedy happen in their lives, I honestly don't know how they went on. I felt they were both so brave.

Life couldn't be so simple for them, meaning he was her son's high school coach making him off limits, but when their hearts are ready to love again they can't pass that up.

I would say this is a nice light read, but the emotions hit you deep. It is a very well written story that I feel can help someone who has experienced loss that is struggling with the idea of moving forward and opening their heart again to the possibility of love.

This my first read of this author but I will be going back for more. The First Lights is an unexpected breath of fresh air. The lead characters have started to put their lives together again after unbelievable loss. Hannah and her teenage son have move to the school district where Wyatt is the history teacher and football coach. Their first meeting was confrontational but the chemistry started to zing along with the sparks in their words.

Lots of feels all wrapped up in a sweet romance. The reader goes from tears to laughter to amazing steam all in a matter of pages. Loved to see middle age adults finding their chance at an HEA again. Wyatt brings all the swoon worthy romance you can handle to their relationship. Loved the time in the press box!!

Enjoyable read all around.

I love this story of Christy’s - it starts off tender, ripping your heart open but then it’s about life, living, and loving.
And football!
This book runs the whole spectrum of emotions. I cried, laughed and cheered.
And I’m such a sucker for happy endings and EXTRA epilogues!

This book had me from the first word to the very last. The whole story flows so beautifully that I felt like I was actually in the book right along Wyatt and Hannah as their story was veing told, living their story with them. Wyatt Hamilton is an Ex NFL star who turned high school coach a few years after losing his daughter and wife tragically. He is going through life, existing, but not really living. For Wyatt, coaching football is a bright spot in his life. Jusymt getting through everyday without his wife and daughter, trying to move on as best as he can is a miracle and he does it. Hannah Richman and her son, Luke are trying to move on and work through life without her husband and other son after a horrific incident took them out of their lives and broke their family apart. Hannah is now having to learn how to live the single life while giving her adorable son a chance to become his own person in a brand new town and new school.
Wyatt and Hannah at first get off on the wrong foot , but neither can deny the sizzling sparks simmering between them. They are both surprised at the unexpected pull felt toward each other, discovering they are both widowed and come to realized they have much in common.
Hannah then finds out Wyatt is her son's coach/ teacher at school so there is a bit of a forbidden romance brewing because of how neither want their to be any scandal attached but yet there is this attraction building that is steamy and hot. The romance is tempered by the grief they both have in their past but it doesn't stop them from continuing to see each other secretly and to reach out to one another. Will they get the HEA they both deserve or let the grief overshadow them from the past ?
I found the main characters very relatable, the story is very well written and I can understand where all the characters POV are coming from. There were moments that I laughed, sighed, cried, and then there were the moments I laughed, and moments of true bliss and passion. This is a well written story of deep emotions that I would say is a contender for one of the best books if 2018.

My rating: 4.9 stars *****

The First Lights is a sweet and sexy tale of two people finding love again. I fell in love with Wyatt and Hannah and their story. I wanted to wrap them both up in my arms and give them a big hug, though, because what they went through in their pasts to get to where they were in their present was pretty painful. Kudos to Christy Pastore!

Before reading I would recommend one thing tissues you'll need lots and lots of tissues. From the start I was hooked I was invested in the characters, needing to know more about them. Wyatt and Hannah have been through so much and yes you can feel the attraction but they connect on an emotional level and that was written beautifully. The grief everyone feels jumps from the page it was expressed so eloquently.

I loved both main characters the author portrayed them perfectly for me. I always think that if i can imagine myself in their life or walking in their shoes that the author has nailed it and that's exactly how I felt.

The First Lights is my first book by Christy Pastore... even though I've had Wicked Gentleman sitting on my kindle for quite a while. *facepalm*
Anywho, this won't be my last. I've even put myself on a deadline to read WG because it needs to happen. Sounds so good!

When I first read the synopsis, I knew I HAD to read it.
Athletes... GIMME!
Single parent trope... GIMME!
BOTH main characters are widow(er)s... GIMME! GIMME! GIMME!
It was like Christy wrote this book just for me... did you, Christy?

Wyatt and Hannah's story is emotional and raw and real. But it's also sweet and fun and hot.
I think it can be tough to portray characters who have lost spouses because it's a tough subject. It's an all too real situation and really hard to write or read about. Pastore does a great job of showing these characters hardships but also giving them life and love after loss.

There are a couple things that Christy brings up in the story (that I'm not going to specifically mention because I think you should read it) that are so real.
I'm going to get personal for a second... my cousin is a widow. She lost her husband at the age of 33 to brain cancer. He left behind a loving wife with two young boys. So this story hit close to home. And there were quite a few things that ran through Hannah's mind that I've heard come right out of my cousin's mouth. So when I say that this book is real and raw, I mean it. I'm not saying it to scare someone away from reading it but to be warned and prepared.

The one real issue I had was the fact that it was mentioned a few times in the book that their relationship was taboo. When someone hears "taboo," you really think nasty, filthy sex dungeon type things.. or like step mom and son getting together. This was more towards "frowned upon" than it was "taboo."

This book, right from the beginning, had me HOOKED!!! The story of 2 characters trying to move on with their lives without the love of their lives due to tragic circumstances. Do they go through life, routinely, everyday just living? Is there only one love of their life?

Wyatt Hamilton is an Ex NFL star turned high school coach few years after losing his daughter and wife. He is going through life, existing, but finding coaching football a bright spot in his life. Getting through everyday without his wife and daughter, trying to move on as best as he can. Hannah Richman and her son, Luke are trying to move on and work through life without her husband and other son after a horrible incident took them away and broke their family. Hannah and Wyatt meet and they both have feelings stirring in them from each other, and debates in their own minds about pursuing or not pursuing each other. It wouldn't be a great idea, because Coach Hamilton is Lukes football coach and teacher, she Hannah is the parent of his football player.

I don't want to give too much away, but it really is a beautiful, steamy, HOT, heartwarming story of starting over, finding love again. They needed each other, and I loved reading every bit of it. I devoured it.

This book! I loved this book. Pastore did a fantastic job of creating a story you can't put down.

Hannah is not your typical leading female mom character. Hannah is smart mouthed, feisty, tattoo covered, free spirit. She's a mom who has suffered a great loss leaving her a single mom to her teenage son Luke. The relocate where she meet Wyatt.

Wyatt--is a former NFL star that left the spotlight after losing everything. He's now a high school history teacher and football coach. Luke's football coach to be exact and from the moment that Hannah marches onto his field, giving him a piece of her mind and storming off leaving Wyatt wanting more.

The chemistry between these two are undeniable but in a small town and a contract with shades of grey where parent/teacher relationships are concerned will they be able to make a relationship work?

I highly recommend this book. It was a fantastic read and you won't be disappointed.

Gahhhh. Words can not express how much I loved The First Lights. This is my first read by Christy Pastore (I know right?!) and what a perfect launching point for me to start. The First Lights is a wonderfully emotional, heartwarming read that had be hooked from page one. Wyatt is an ex-NFL player turned high school football coach/history teacher who has suffered through the tragic loss of his wife and daughter. He is alive, going through the routine of his life, but not really living. Then Hannah sets foot on his field, all fire and sass and causes Wyatt to feel things he hasn't felt in years. Hannah too has suffered a tragic loss. She lost her husband and one of her sons in a tragic car accident. Hannah has to pick up the pieces and carry on not only for herself, but for her surviving son, Luke. This book was the perfect mix of emotion; sadness, laughter, hope and ultimately love. I loved that these two emotionally broken people found comfort in each other. The pacing was on point for this type of love story. There was definitely heat and chemistry between these two without being over the top considering the circumstances. Additionally, the mountain setting and small town feel was the perfect backdrop for Wyatt and Hannah's love story. This was one of my top reads for 2018!

What possible words could I use to make you guys understand just how much I enjoyed this book from the beginning to end. How much I loved Wyatt and all his manliness. A man who suffered the ultimate tragedy, yet was still genuine and caring when it came to Hannah. From the very minute he met the strong willed, and vocal Hannah, he was addicted. Everything about her intrigued him and even though it was morally frowned upon, he wanted to know more.

Hannah also experienced the same sort of tragedy in her life, while also having her son, Luke, as a reminder of just how precious life is. She was a doting mother who was still learning how to live the single life while giving her son a chance to become his own person in a new town and new school.

The chemistry between Wyatt and Hannah was so HOT the words practically burned through the book! So damn HOT! (This line of hotness deserves it all to itself)

Christy's writing keeps getting better and better with every book I read. The way her words made my heart pang with sadness to the intense and passionate moments where I needed to fan myself a WHOLE lot. I had to stop a few times and just grin from all the giddiness I felt. (Maybe more than a few) The emotions the author is able to make you feel is profound.

This story was chock-full of sweet moments, forbidden nights, and sexy work closet encounters. Sigh... Wyatt is a man any woman could appreciate in full detail. And, trust me, I sure as hell did. The swoon radar hit it's limit with this man.

This was definitely a different kind of second chance romance. Not the typical kind where there's forgiveness to be had between a struggling couple but more of a second chance in life. This story included the perfect amount of angst and drama, without taking away from the budding love story between Hannah and Wyatt. And, can I just say... the epilogue!! I LIVED for that epilogue!!
It gave me 100% all the feels and honestly, I was completely satisfied with it all.

If I could give this book more than 5 stars, I would.

The First Lights is a standalone even though I could always use a little more Wyatt and Hannah in my life.

HAPPY DANCE, HAPPY DANCE, HAPPY DANCE!!! This story is a rollercoaster ride of emotions. Here you have tragic events that ripped my heart out, then you have a swoon worthy romance that was sexy, sweet, and just made me believe in love, on to the nosey spiteful small town drama, heartbreak, and ending it all with a warm sweet feeling that I just didn't want to be over. Wyatt and Hannah are two of the most relatable characters that I have experienced this year. Out of all the books that I have read, these two rank pretty high in my memorable couples list. I just want more and more, I was so sad when I got to the end because I just wanted to keep their story going.

I was a bit hesitant to read this one as I really struggle with love after loss books but I felt that this one was done very well. Both characters were dealing with a loss of their spouse but it didn't feel like this heavy and overwhelming thing hanging over the heads. They both acknowledged their exes and didn't shy away from it which I really respected. But they both wanted to pursue the other and there was no guilt about the exes as they were both in a place to move on. My only issue is that I felt that I didn't really get to know Hannah and Wyatt enough. It felt a bit rushed. But I enjoyed it and it kept me thoroughly engaged.

OH MY GOODNESS! WOW!
I... well... I'm so full of emotions now that I finished my ARC of The First Lights by Christy Pastore.
I DEVOURED this book from the first word until the very last one because Christy Pastore is an absolutely talented author. I really mean it! ♡
I'm so damn happy that I got the chance to read the really special story of Hannah & Wyatt.
Both have to deal with a tragic broke of fate in their lives when their paths cross and I loved to see that happen!
It was sooooo tragic and sweet and heartbreakingly beautiful and really funny and so damn HOT and so so so full of romance and emotions and EVERYTHING!
W-O-N-D-E-R-F-U-L!
I really loved it that this book is a beautiful love story where the main characters are not in their twenties anymore. Yeah, I just wanted to mention it because I think it's a really important aspect. ♡

So speaking of the characters...
HANNAH is AWESOME! She's sassy, she knows what she wants and is not afraid to fight for it. I loved her different sides. The tough one, the sensitive one, the cheeky one etc. It was so enjoyable to get to know her.

And of course this kind of woman needs a man like hot, hotter WYATT HAMILTON!
OMG! This man totally got under Hannah's skin! (AND UNDER MINE AS WELL!!)
He's this absolutely HOT, gorgeous but also vulnerable man.

So... I'd say it's a perfect match!
BUT...
READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT! ;)

(I'm sorry for my English if it's not the best one but when you're so full of love for a certain book it's sometimes difficult to find the right words in a foreign language.)

If you've have a read a Christy Pastore before, you will definitely know this is by far very different from her other books. Not to say they weren't good, because they were (you all need to read her Scripted Series and Harbor Series). By different, I mean, it was more emotional and thought provoking, that it left me with some tears but lots of smiles .

This is a second chance at love, but not your typical second chance. Mrs. Pastore had me in tears during the Prologue.

Wyatt and Hannah meet under auspicious, and not in a very friendly kind of way. I know, I'm getting ahead of myself. Hannah, just recently moved to a new town with her teenage son, Luke. Get a fresh start, leave the heartache of their past.

Wyatt, ex-NFLer, turn HS football coach. When he meets the new leggy blonde, who's a little sassy, well, let's just say the sparks he thought he didn't have for any particular women, well just started lighting up. Ah but the forbidden part of the story gets interesting as he happens to be Hannah's son's coach.

Though their meet cute was a little contentions at first, the chemistry was there. But with all that comes the guilt. Can these two souls that have lost so much in the past, really find true love again ... with each other? Well you will just have to find out for yourself.

I was lucky enough to BETA read this book very early. This is Mrs. Pastore's best book yet! I loved the direction and the emotion this book took. I always love when an author comes out of their comfort zone and write something that is unexpected and this is exactly what I got from Mrs. Pastore.

WOW! From the very start to the end, The First Lights had me so engulfed! Right from the tear-jerking prologue, through to the HEA ending, my emotions were on high alert. This was just such an amazingly written book that I literally couldn’t put down, and I fear my review can’t do it enough justice.

The forbidden spark between Coach Wyatt Hamilton and Hannah Richman is very hot (and yes, there are some sex scenes in here!). The tragic history of each Wyatt and Hannah uniquely connects them, and may be part of the force that brings them together. Wyatt is Luke’s High School football coach and teacher, and Hannah doesn’t want Wyatt to get into trouble because of the heat they feel between them. They also don’t want her son, Luke, to get backlash for his mom dating the coach.

There is love, tears, heat and humor in this two-person POV story. The supporting characters are great! Hannah’s son Luke is such a good kid, I might just want to swap him out for one of mine…LOL. Then there’s Ryleigh (Hannah’s horn-dog sister), Brandt (Luke’s best friend), and even Loki (Wyatt’s dog), the football team, some parents, co-workers and family.

This book by Christy Pastore is a Must-Read book! Amazing!!!

The blurb alone of The First Lights by Christy Pastore drew me in and the story consumed me. A forbidden romance and a second chance at love with a sports theme, seriously, what is there not too love?

I loved everything about this story. It was surprisingly sweet and emotional. Wyatt and Hannah drew me in right from the start. They had amazing chemistry and backstories that will break you. Wyatt is now a high school football coach and teacher. Hannah and her son are starting over. Both trying to recover from tragedies that changed their lives forever and neither expecting to find love again.

There is a connection for Hannah and Wyatt from the start, but Wyatt is now Hannah’s son coach and nothing matters more to her than her son. But what happen when they both know it’s wrong to want more, but can’t help themselves? This was truly a great read that drew me in and never let me go!

The First Lights by Christy Pastore is a contemporary, forbidden romance told in dual POV. This is the first book I've read by the author and it definitely will not be the last as I thoroughly enjoyed it. The story follows the relationship between former NFL star turned high school football coach, Wyatt, and single mom and waitress, Hannah.

Wyatt and Hannah initially get off to a bad start, but neither can deny the spark between them. They are surprised by the unexpected pull they feel toward each other, discovering they are both widowed and have much in common.

Wyatt is coach and history teacher to Hannah's son, Luke, so she determines to keep a professional distance in order to protect his job and also her son from any small-town gossip that would arise if they were to be together. Wyatt determines to go after Hannah regardless of the consequences, and soon they begin a secret relationship.

Of course, every secret eventually comes into the light. Will they be able to survive the fallout? You'll have to read to find out!

I really enjoyed this book and loved all the characters, even the supporting ones. There was a good mix of emotions, some humor and some steamy scenes too. A fantastic story about finding love after loss, and fighting for it.
