For wildlife firefighter Harrison Parks, it's not really his choice to get a dog, but after slipping into a diabetic coma during a training exercise, his boss gave him an ultimatum: it's the service dog or a desk job for now on. Harrison second surprise comes when he see the petite dog trainer. To used the author's words, she seem better suited for a tea party than a dog kennel. But don't be fooled by your first impression, she's a tough girl, even if she have a heart of gold. The hero's next su ...more

Cuteness Alert! A sweet, adorable puppy brings together two people who need all the help and support the little fur baby can give to find their way past their troubles to happiness. A new to me author and a new series introduces several elements around a romance series that I was eager to grab up.

Puppy Love introduces three sisters who have a puppy training business and provide service puppies in training. Sophie is the youngest and she feels that she has a lot to prove as a leukemia

This was such a sweet read. We see a gruff no-nonsense hero who is a firefighter fall for a piece of fluff that is his new service dog in training. He comes to take a big scary dog and leaves with a pom. The heroine his trainer turns his and his dad's lonely life upside down and soon we have this dude who scares other people, knitting and doing what not for his dog and slowly letting down his walls. I loved the heroine too, her bond with her family, how she could be so assertive with the hero. T ...more

Rough on the outside and gooey sweet on the inside, Harrison was a lovably grumpy hero. Contrary to her perspective, Sophie was a bossy little thing, with a steel backbone and a spirit that wouldn’t quit! I loved both characters equally, but the funniest character was Bubbles! This super cute, cuddly, ‘raisin eyed’ Pomeranian was a little diva and could give Harrison hilarious conniption fits, but loved her human like he was her world and vice versa. How sweet is that?!

Puppy Love was a delightf

Super cute, sweet romance that was a great start to a new series and debut author.

I loved Harrison and Sophie from the start. Talk about opposites attract! Sophie and along with her sisters train service dogs and while gruff wildfire firefighter is tasked with getting a service dog for his severe diabetes or risk losing the job that he loves.

From the very beginning, these two has through the roof chemistry. And every page forward it just got better and better.

So this was very cute! I found the writing a little awkward and well . . . the big family issues weren't solved by hugs so much as . . . everyone just seemed to move past them without really addressing them??? (view spoiler)

But yes, very cute, and totally lives up to the name. I am

The cover made me curious, but it was the blurb that hooked me and I have to say this really was a cute read that kept me smiling all the way through until the end.

I loved Harrison and Sophie. Harrison is something of an enigma. He is a grump and wants to be left alone ~ which means he tends to give very short and to the point answers ~ but he also does this verbal vomit thing that ends up getting him in trouble. But regardless of the walls he’s built around him, the

While Lucy Gilmore is a new-to-me romance author, some of you may know her under the name Tamara Morgan. (I may even have some of “Morgan’s” romances lurking in the TBR.) Though I’m leery of new-to-me romance authors, I succumbed to the cover puppy’s cuteness. If I were to ever have a dog, it would be a Pomeranian, though in truth, I’m a cat-lady. Reading Gilmore’s first volume in the Service Puppies series, I didn’t regret my venture to new-author territory for a moment. Gilmore’s romance may n ...more

Puppy Love was a fun, sexy romance and was just what I was needing to break up all the mystery/horror I have been reading!

Sophie is the youngest of three sisters and when she was younger she had leukemia and was smothered with love and attention. Now she is good health because of a donor and doesn't need the protective smothering but it seems she is the only one who thinks that. She works with her sisters at Puppy Promise, a training facility for service dogs, and they have taken on

2.5/5, generously rounding up

I was pretty disappointed I couldn’t get into this one, but I think a lot of this depends on buying the characters’ instant connection, which I did not. The prose was also not great, a couple of the author’s descriptions were cringe-y, but the characters treated them as an inside joke, so I kept having to read about how the dog’s eyes were like “wet raisins.” I need to care about the characters and relationship to let writing like that slide, and I wasn’t

This was an impulse purchase and I'm glad it caught my attention (mainly because I have two Pomeranians). Sophie is determined to be seen as strong and independent by her family after a childhood illness sidelined her. Harrison's childhood diabetes has finally caught up to him and the only way he's getting back in the field is to get a service animal. He thinks he needs a great big, strong dog, but Sophie is determined to show him Bubbles the Pomeranian may be small, but she is fully up to the t ...more

If you like finding new authors who you can stay with for the long haul, you have to check out this first book by Lucy Gilmore. With a unique plot, a riveting storyline, authentic and endearing characters, and prose that lean toward poetic, Gilmore has secured her future works an automatic spot on my TBR list.

With an unconventional premise, Puppy Love features a bit of a love triangle between three main characters, one of which is a Pomeranian named Bubbles. Along with her two sister

From what can gather, Puppy Love is the debut novel for Lucy Gilmore, and the first book in a series. I’m glad I accepted an offer from the publisher to read and review in advance of publication. My opinions are my own and are not influenced in any way.

Puppy Love is a fast-paced romance with lots of laugh-out-loud moments. The characters are engaging, and the plot is unique. The bantering between the hero and heroine is natural and delightful. Ms. Gilmore certainly tells an amusing,

The cover features Harrison and Bubbles, looking happy and well-adjusted.
Grouchy wildfire firefighter, Harrison, is out of the field after a drop in blood sugar puts him in a coma. Now, boss-man says he can’t return to active duty without a scent detection service dog to help keep his insulin levels in check.
Sophie is tired of being treated as if she were fragile. Sure, she nearly died. But she overcame leukemia and has since become a strong and independent woman – even

~I received a free copy to read & review for Wicked Reads~

To be honest, this cover is what drew me in. I have a soft spot for Pomeranians, and who doesn't love to see a handsome man handling a cute little pup?!?

When you think of a Service Dog, what do you picture in your mind? Maybe a German Shepherd, a Labrador, or Golden Retriever. When Harrison is in the market for a new Service Animal, he's referred to Puppy Promise. The Vasquez sisters run the Service Animal Training school, they have a wide variety of p

Soooo, I'm going to be honest, and admit I selected this book, because - PUPPIES! The premise sounded so cute. Seriously, how could I resist service puppies? And, this one, Bubbles, was so adorable.

Besides the puppy with the skilled nose trained to detect changes in her owner's blood sugar, we had a grumpy hero and a fabulous heroine.

Harrison was so closed off to getting close to people, and I have to admit, after learning more about his family history, it was easy to understand. BUT, he was u

If a book has puppies/dogs it will always grab my attention!  Having had two of my own these four-legged creatures will always hold a place in my heart.  What is even better about the dogs in this book/series is that they are service dogs.

This book is more about boy meets girl via a dog, it is about breaking down walls, learning to trust, learning to love, and realizing that maybe life is better with someone than without anyone.  Harrison is one gruff guy and Sophie is trying to brea

What a cute romance! Harrison needs a service dog as he is a firefighter and diabetic. When he meets Lucy the puppy trainer and Bubbles, his new service dog, he can't believe this is the dog that will help him out when he is battling fires. Little does he know both Sophie and Bubbles will find a place in his heart.

I was instantly drawn into this story by the witty characters, especially the gruff Harrison and aptly named Pomeranian puppy, Bubbles. The two came across as complete opposites and not at all a great match, but boy what a match it turned out to be!

I believe Love is Ageless and has the power to heal lives, and Ms. Gilmore's story proves this. Her characters are realistically flawed, but with enough compassion and love woven into their story, I found myself rooting for them all the wa

Puppy Love is a fun read! I would call this a Sour Patch Kid of a romance novel. What do I mean by that? Know how Sour Patch Kids are really sour and then surprise you with their sweetness? Well - Puppy Love is really sweet - and then surprises you by showing up with the steam!

Harrison is a grumpy, tough wildfire firefighter who needs a diabetic service dog to continue doing his job. While he’s hoping for a large, tough looking dog - he gets paired with a small, fluffy Pomeranian puppy named Bu

This was really, really adorable cute. It handled chronic illness/illness recovery in a way that felt real and right (& hey diabetes rep in books!). I really loved all the relationships, though I do wish the Hero & his mother’s had been explored more—not necessarily through the lens of him forgiving her, but just in terms of atonement and moving forward because I think it’s rare to see the mother come back in these scenarios in romance novels.

Anyways, do recommend if you enjo

Puppy Love is a nicely done sweet, cute, fun romance that had me smiling all the way through the book. Sophie and Harrison are great characters and then of course there are all the puppies! I enjoyed this new author's writing style very much and will be looking for more from her in the future. I definitely recommend this one.

So cute! I think I like the main characters in this book even more than the ones in book 2. Great contrasts and identity issues keep the characters interesting and growing through the whole story. Looking forward to reading book 3. (language, sex)

Alright, I admit it, this one had me at “puppy” and gained my affection within the first chapter. PUPPY LOVE not only delivers a charming romance with a bit of a sizzle factor, but it also shows the heart of any service dog (or those that train them). In order to return to his life work as a wildlife firefighter, Harrison will need to have a service dog to alert him to changes in his diabetes. He’s already gone into a diabetic coma from low blood sugar once, and his

Puppy Love by Lucy Gilmore is the first book in her new Forever Home series. Puppy Love was a sweet, cute and fun story line that revolves around a service puppy training school run by three sisters. In Puppy Love the youngest sister, Sophie Vazquez is our heroine and she was a blast throughout the book.

Sophie usually listens to her older sisters, Dawn and Lila, when it comes how to handle placing a puppy to someone who has special needs. But once Sophie meets Harrison Parks, our hero, she step

Puppy Love is the adorable story about a firefighter who gets paired with a Pomeranian as his service animal. Harrison has battled with diabetes since he was a kid. He's usually pretty good about checking his levels, but when he's on the job, he sometimes gets wrapped up and forgets to make sure everything is okay. So, with this last scare of him passing out, his boss has demanded he seek help and get a service dog who can at least help alert Harrison when his levels get too low. What he was exp ...more
