This sweet "Flippable Book" is really two books in one and is a wonderful introduction to the seasons. It can be read forward, backward and upside down. How fun is that? It was created by award-winning graphic designer Dale Nigel Goble with text provided by communication expert Kate Colley. It is a companion to "Winter Days Spring Days".
With bright colours, happy scenarios and rhyming verse it is sure to be a hit with wee ones. Mirroring what the kids in the book are doing... eating ice cream, chasing butterflies, sipping a cool glass of lemonade, jumping in a pile of leaves, splashing in a puddle and letting your hair blow freely in the wind would be great activities to participate in.
The format will engage and entertain making this a fun book to read again and again. I recommend this book.
Two books in one, kind of flipable book, where you can flip it in reverse and start by the end/other side. This book present both summer and falls (another book does winter and spring). Each season is presented through various activities and things to do. All of it is well illustrated in an original and colorful way. It’s the perfect example of a simple book, but perfectly executed! Good job!
I received an electronic ARC from Orca Book Publishers through NetGalley. Board b0ok Colley introduces summer and fall to young readers. Colorful illustrations support the simple text. Simple seasonal facts are introduced along with the fun in each season. Can be used with an individual child or group of children.
I received a free ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This cute and colorful book was a good explanation of the seasons for the littlest readers. It's a flip book and can be read forward or backward (and upside down). Great rhyming text.
I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. An excellent and easy to read counting book for young kids with bright and fun pictures to keep them interested.
THis is a cute enough board book about what to expect to see in the seasons. It is two seasons in one, and has some beautiful illustrations, as evidence here.
So, why am I only giving it three stars? There is just no story there. I have read some brilliant board books in my day, and they can be quite entertaining, so why the author just chose to show pictures of things, instead of making it into something, I don't know. And kids like stories.
Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.
This book had my at "flippable book"! I always engage my kids in these book reviews, and my daughter saw the ice cream on the cover and was immediately excited. Now, because I read this book to her on an iPad as an e-book, she lost interest by the time I went to flip the book. But if this was a physical copy, I have a feeling this would be added to our night reading pile because it's colorful with large pictures, it's short and it flips. I enjoyed the flipping part to the Fall Days section, because we live in Hawaii, we don't really experience fall but that doesn't stop me from showing my kids how autumn is experienced around the world. Overall it's a great book! I'd buy a physical copy for my child and it would make a great gift for other children as well.
This book is a cute flippable rhyming list of things that make the seasons Summer and Fall special. I love the colorful graphics and I think children will really enjoy flipping the book and reading about the other season, but I wish there was more text, and I felt like some of the rhyme pairs didn't really flow very well. Cute book but I don't think I'd purchase it.
Summer Days Fall Days is a perfect book to introduce the changing seasons to the toddlers. The art work is catchy with contrasting colors and simple graphics. Looking at this book reminded me of my childhood summer days which involved eating a lot of watermelon and a little bit of ice cream. It is creative that the book can be flipped to read about the other season. My favorite pages in this book are the ice cream page and the fall leaves page. It can be made into an activity book, where the kids can do all the activities shown in the book for Summer and Fall. For example, in Summer, get an ice cream and in Fall collect the leaves.
I will definitely purchase this book for my son. I am looking forward to the Winter and Spring Days book if it is coming out.
A simple rhyme made into a simple book. It’s a flibflob book, meaning one side is summer, and one side is fall. Each story is a simple rhyme about the season, with simple pictures as well. Simple is not an insult, because this book is exactly what it needs to be. An uncomplicated book for uncomplicated readers.
