This is a well written spy thriller. The author has done superb research into this story that could actually be ripped out of today's headlines.

A bit futuristic, it takes a look at what would/could happen when Russia and the West go to war and NATO fails to do anything constructive.

Security Consultant Mark Sanders is a complex, but credible character. He's an everyday man ... one who has secrets from his past .... but faces a decision to either protect his family .... or his country.

Fast pasted, with an interesting plot drawn from today’s headlines, this geo-political thriller is a good read. If you like spy craft, special forces and or geo-political thrillers, you will enjoy this book.

Outstanding Spy Thriller

This book takes the best parts of Jason Bourne, Jack Ryan and mixes them with the modern hi tech, cyber thrillers. The convergence of reality and fiction is very well written. I look forward to following Defiant in the future.

Joseph Carter is an author that should be followed. Although a first novel, Another Man's Freedom Fighter is a tense, page turning novel of war, cyber-espionage and the politics of NATO and Russia. The characters are realistic and the plot is not only possible but is a frighteningly believable scenario. I found the book very difficult to put down. I highly recommend it to thriller genre readers because you're not likely to be disappointed. There's a hint at a sequel at the end and I hope there i ...more

Couldn't put it down. This is a great book which reminded me a lot of Tom Clancy's style with a bit of Len Deighton (Game, Set, Match trilogy) in a mix.

Definitely worth reading for Clancy, Deighton, Kerr fans.

Mark Sanders, an IT security consultant just wants to live the quiet life in Berlin with his wife and daughter, but when a plan by the president of Poland to break the stranglehold the Russians have on the international coal market goes awry, and Russia invades the smaller country, Mark finds that he must make a choice. He can run away, or he can throw in his lot to help the brave, but outgunned Polish stay-behind forces fighting for their lives against Russian hit squads of spetsnaz. While his ...more

This ambitious thriller has the bones of a good story, but didn't do so well on the fleshing out part. Sure, I can see where all the Clancy comparisons come from, but unfortunately this book also suffers from all the usual Clancy problems: Too unfocussed and longwinded, a writing style that is all telling, no showing (and occasionally drowns the reader in unnecessarily detailed descriptions of military hardware), and flat, underdeveloped characters. It took me all of two chapters (and they're pr ...more

A hero is torn between what's right and what he needs to do, political implications of what could happen in the invent of war, espionage and more. This story definitely could have Mark Sanders is a security consultant and wants to live a low-key life with his family. However, with one bad decision by the Polish President begins the fast-paced cyber/spy/international thriller.

You can see the author took the time to do his research. You can see the parallels between the state of international rela

Good effort

The author's political bias, hackers, and oh yes a war. The writing is stilted and reads like a machine translation presented unedited

Having worked in the digital industry for over 20 years and having been addicted to spy thrillers for even longer, Joseph Carter started to follow his passion in 2018 when he began work on Another Man’s Freedom Fighter. His debut takes the reader on an exciting journey from Berlin to Warsaw, and Moscow. Most reviewers characterized Carter’s first novel as "a little bit of everything for those who ...more
