Man O’ War was a fascinating horse who had lots of personality and made a big impact on the world of horseracing. This beginner reader book tells the story of his life in an engaging manner. It tells how everyone was doubtful of the horse’s abilities at first, but then how everyone grew to love him.
The illustrations in this book are done in a cartoonlike fashion, but they keep the reader interested, and still give the reader a good idea of what the horse looked like. The pictures go very well with the words and add to the story.
This book is great for young children who are starting to read on their own. First and second graders will love reading about Man O’ War’s life.

I had to reduce the rating because of the illustrator's obsession with the chest area of almost all of these horse drawings. They were obscene.
