We got to meet Jess in a previous book but now get to see the real her and learn her story.
What an intriguing story line.
Be sure to read the other books in the Haven Manor series in order before you read this one, just makes more sense.
Jess really is an amazing woman, who will she be next? Her disguises where phenomenal .
Art, an old family diary, hidden secrets, danger, the pursuit of happiness,
As strong as Jess is I see a certain vulnerability in her which makes her all the more relatable.

Loved Jess’ story. Perfection! And loved how prior characters played such a large role in her story. It really was a beautiful story of redemption and healing. And the power of love.

"The truth was that while the past colored the future, the people living in the present still wielded the paintbrush."

What a surprising and completely satisfying conclusion to the Haven Manor series! This third book in the series ties in all the characters from previous books, as well as some endearing characters from A Noble Masquerade (first book in Hawthorne House series). With her trademark writing style that is fluid, easy to read, and often humorous, Kristi Ann Hunter draws us quickly into

I’ve been waiting for Jess’s story for-ev-er! When you add the cameo appearances of beloved characters from other stories I was giddy with delight. In fact, I think the cameo appearances is my favorite aspect of this story. To see several books come together in one story…happy dance!

I also loved the chemistry between Jess and Derek. Seeing them interact usually had me chuckling and quickly reading to see what would happen next.

There was also intrigue, mystery, and good ol fashion history rolled
This series should be read in order.

A Pursuit of Home wildly and beautifully exceeded my high expectations. From her mind-blowing backstory to the long-awaited glimpse into her heart and mind, Jess completely captivated my reader heart. The tough, no-nonsense exterior readers are so familiar with paired with her keen intellect gives Jess a Regency Wonder Woman turned 007 vibe and I love it!

Derek is the perfect brainiac sidekick for our superheroine because he continually surprised me as well!

Stunning, utterly unique and gigantic twist in the whole Haven Manor series - I literally could not stop reading. What I loved about the very first book I read by this author has returned in what is by far the best in the series.

Kristi Ann Hunter is not only an author who can engage the reader in a fun, humorous way via the dialogue of the characters, but so skilled in her approach to story telling. There is so many angles, and depth to this plot, the reader will not be able to see what is

I’ve been waiting for Jess’s story, and I wasn’t disappointed. It was just as convoluted, mysterious, and exciting as Jess herself. There were beloved characters from previous books that added much to the story, but the character and skills of Jess really come through in this story.

Though the story is wrought with suspense and intrigue, Jess still is what makes this book so good. Her varied and amazing costumes, many talents, and backstory are fascinating. Her future uncertain

This was a great way to end the Haven Manor series! I was intrigued by Jess and was so glad to get to know her, and we did get to know her. I found the first half to be slow-moving, but I didn't lose heart. But the other half I found was more open with Derek and Jess really getting to know each other and allowing the reader to see Jess more open, and not so secretive with Derek who was seeing her for who she really was. Very enjoyable!

Sob! It's over, isn't it? This is the last book in Kristi Ann Hunter's Haven Manor series and I think I need to bring out the bookish widow weeds and mourn the end of this series in true Regency style. Sniffle.

I listened to the audible version (yay Beverley A. Crick -- excellent narration!) and I was so reluctant to say goodbye to these characters that I made the book last a week. I'd listen to a chapter and then pause while I relived every exquisite moment and had some fun plotting what might

Yay!! I have been waiting for Jess’s story ever since The Noble Masquerade. That’s 6 books I’ve been waiting (yeah, yeah, it wasn’t a hardship but still!). When we met Darek in book 2 of The Haven Manor series, I rang my hands in gleeful anticipation. I knew Darek and Jess’s chemistry was going to have me grinning up a storm. And I wasn’t wrong. These two are a classic look at opposites attracting. She gets him to look at the world differently and vice versatility. They round each other out in ...more

From the fertile mind of Kristi Ann Hunter comes a tale of intrigue. A spiritual journey is in store for Jess Beauchene and a trip to a place she has left behind. While in hiding, word comes that one she thought dead needs her help to solve a mystery. Jess has been holding her own for ten years. She is capable and equipped to defend herself. So she is confounded to realize that she in turn needs help from a man who irritates her no end. He comes in the person of art and antiquities curator, ...more

We FINALLY have Jess's story!! Insert "squealing" here! I have been needing Jess's story for several books now and am so excited it's finally released! I could not put this one down. Derek is a perfect match for Jess in every sense of the word and I adored him and his growth in the book. Jess's backstory was one I wouldn't have thought up but it was perfect the way Kristi wrote it. We are reunited with several characters from the Hawthorne House set and that was a favorite part of the story for ...more

"I am starting to wonder . . . .if I have ever actually met you. . . . . . Are you that prickly, argumentative woman . . . . or are you the woman who talked to me in the hayloft?"

Sometimes Jessamine Beauchene doesn't even know who she truly is, so how can she possibly explain herself to the man who has morphed from constantly irritating into annoyingly (or in rare instances adorably) perceptive? Forced to confide in art expert Derek Thornbury, Jess tasks him with helping her to solve a

Kristi Ann Hunter’s Haven Manor series is a Regency delight. The latest addition, A Pursuit of Home, proves to be everything I expected for Jess Beauchene (but of course, never would have guessed). It is a fitting conclusion to the series—with appearances from its many beloved characters (and even a few from the Hawthorne House series).

When Jess needs help solving a family mystery, she knows only one person to ask for help: Derek Thornbury, an art expert—and a man she cannot stand. Still, he

Kristi Ann Hunter is one of my favorite Regency period writers. The setting of Haven Manor has been perfect for this series, and from her detailed descriptions, I think I could recognize the Manor if I came upon it during a walk in that fictional countryside. Her storylines are interesting and always have a thread of intrigue. There’s been some other wonderful characters in this series, but Jess has always been the character in whom I’ve been the most interested. There’s always been such mystery ...more

Another great book from Kristi Ann Hunter. I really enjoyed Jess' story. There is quite a bit of back story that even links into the Hawthorne House series. I wasn't exactly sure where this story was going, but I like where it ended up. I'm glad to see that Daphne, Kit, and Jess all got their happily ever afters.

Wow! Jess's story was such a surprise! We got to know Jess a little bit in the previous two books in the Havon Manor series and I was intrigued to know more...but I didn't expect what was going to be revealed in this book!

I loved the mystery and puzzle-solving aspect in A Pursuit of Home. It added some intensity as they were racing to find the hidden artifact before the enemies did. I loved seeing Jess and Derek interact, as you could tell they had feelings for each other but were fighting them.

This is definitely the best book in this series! I absolutely loved it! Not only do we finally get to learn Jess’s story, we also get to visit with some old friends! This makes me want to reread all of these books! This was definitely worth the wait! Kristi Ann Hunter is definitely a favorite when it comes to Regency!

“Sometimes stories are more about the one doing the telling than the tale being told. The true magic is the heart in the words, the emotion in the pauses, the depth of the conviction. “

This is the beginning of A Pursuit of Home by Kristi Hunter the third book in the Haven Manor series. Our heroine, Jess Beauchene, has appeared in the last two novels and has always been a favorite character of mine. Her past has been a mystery and we really do not know her backstory until now. ‘Diaries were incredible windows into the past…He wanted that diary. The question was, did he want it badly enough to deal with her?’

Jess has been an enigma since the first book in this incredible series, A Defense of Honor. She’s cantankerous and intensely private. I was intrigued to read her story and taken completely by surprise. Jess has a sharp tongue but she is funny. Oh the dialogue between her and Derek was downright hilarious at times. He’s marvelous, by the way. A man of God who

"There is power beyond might and strength."

This book would take the whole of your mind and require your time to enjoy it. It is that captivating.
To enjoy this book you have to have patience and be ready to settle down.
The weight of a Nation rested on Jess and she did everything she could to save her people with the help of Derek. Her wit, determination, survival instinct were unrivalled.
The author's writing style was wonderful, I learnt a lot of new words from it.
I love the various mentions
DNF - I just could not get into this book. I love the concept.

I have greatly enjoyed this series, but for some reason this last book fell a little flat for me. Jess is such an intriguing character with her mysterious past, and I was excited to learn about her origins and everything she has gone through to bring her to where and who she is. I liked the contrast in personalities between her and Derek, and the way they come to appreciate each other's unique talents and abilities. The vagueness of the mystery they are solving made it hard for me to reason out ...more

I have been anticipating this story since A Noble Masquerade first came out and it didn't disappoint! I actually think Kristi Hunter stepped it up a notch with this one. Only complaint- no swoon-worthy kiss. What's up with that?

This has been one of my favorite series of all time. Each story was so unique and had amazing characters. I’ve been wanting to learn more about Jess since the beginning so this book was a treat. It went in a different direction than I was expecting. She was so tough that I was expecting some kind of story of hardship or abuse. I was totally surprised to learn of her family’s history.

Jess is fascinating. She is a master of disguise. I laughed at her antics and escape attempts. It was interesting

Kristi Ann Hunter returns with the conclusion to her inspirational historical series, set in 19th century English countryside.

In A Pursuit of Home, Jess Beauchene spent her life hiding and on the run in England, believing she is the sole survivor from her family after an uprising in her former country, Verbonne. When she unexpectedly learns that her family might be alive and in danger, Jess seeks help from an unexpected source, an art historian she doesn’t like.

A Pursuit of Home by Kristi Ann Hunter is a masterpiece of romance, adventure, and witty bickering! These vivid brushstrokes of story have guaranteed that A Pursuit of Home will forever and always be one of my favorite Kristi Ann Hunter books!

So in case you didn't catch it from my terminology above, there's a lot of art in this story! Some of the art mentioned is real, and some of it's not. Regardless of it's "realness," I loved the way the author pulled these vivid images into the story in a

Throughout the book there is an important mystery that must be solved. It will lead Jess Beuchene and Derek Thornbury on a journey together where they must rely on each other.

Jess and Derek are so different. He is book smart and her intelligence comes from her unique life experiences.
