John William Burgon was an English Anglican divine who become the Dean of Chichester Cathedral in 1876. He is remembered for his passionate defense of the historicity and Mosaic authorship of Genesis and of Biblical inerrancy in general.

This book is hard to get through for those of us who don't read Greek but when I started it back at around the same time I started Burgon's Traditional Text and Simon's Old Testament criticism I planned on taking my time and I've learned a lot about how ancient documents can be corrupted. This is an important book, like all of Burgons', for any serious student of the transmission of Bible manuscripts and texts.
