You are amazing. I know . . . I know that sounds like a line, but it’s not. You bring me to my knees and lift me up at the same time. It’s the definition of magic.

Just when I'm out they drag me back in by naming Butch in the blurb.
I really enjoyed that, even though I worked out the baddie fairly early on. I was just thrilled to spend time with MY Butch - I love that man so hard!

A nice addition to the series with both Boone and Helania being great characters, with no ridiculous angst .... pretty much Ward doing what she does best.

And kudos to V's comment at the end of the book - best comment ever! 😂

J.R. Ward returns with another instalment in the Black Dagger Legacy series. This time, it’s Boone’s turn to have his happily ever after and I have to say, I couldn’t be happier to see something good happen for this guy.

Strangely enough, I wasn’t sure what I was expecting when I dove into this book, but I quickly rediscovered my love for this world as soon as I read the first page. There’s just something nostalgic about Ward’s writing for me. It takes me back to the time when I first fell in l

You guys all know that I love the BDB series, so I was excited to finally be fully caught up on the series before a new release. I was excited for Boone's romance and another peak at the lives of the trainees!

Now that Boone's sire has passed away, Boone is left with a life he's not sure what to do with. He's never been enough for his sire, especially when he broke off his arranged engagement. Now, as a trainee in the legacy program, he's helping Butch investigate a series of gruesome murders. T

4 Warrior Trainee Stars!!

Trainee Boone has been sidelined so he’s teamed with helping the Butch investigate and solve a series of murders of female civilian vampires which happens to coincide with the death of his uptight aristocrat sire who made Boone feel unworthy. I found Boone quiet and somewhat introverted. While investigating the murder scene he meets Helania, who for her own reasons is also looking for the murderer.

To be completely honest I wasn't as excited about this one as I usually

I liked it, but I have some remaining questions. Plus one little- big- thing has me shaking my head. Asking "why like that."?? 🤷🏽♀

Boone and Helenia were both likable; as were the side characters. All the Brothers that made an appearance were more true to their characters' personalities than the last book. Butch has a big roll in this one, but not Marissa. It was good to be with the cop again. This one pretty much focused on the main couple. (This story takes place within ab
When J.R. Ward writes a book, you stop everything to read it. I devoured this in less than 24 hours and I regret nothing. My family can survive on cereal, am I right?

Let me start off by saying I love Boone and Butch! After the death of his father, Boone was taken of rotation and partnered up with Butch to solve the gruesome murders of women patrons of a local club. They worked so well together. We usually see the vampire side of Butch, so it was nice to see his human side for a bit. His years i

2.5/5 - “Well what do you know?” BDB meets YA, next... also, that quoted phrase is said about 25+ times in the book *annoying*

This longtime fan has lost her shit with this book. I thought the Savior triggered my devotion to the series well, Blood Truth did in another way.

This book literally picks up a day before Throe’s party in The Savior. It’s ok if you haven’t read any books from BDB or BDL everyone and everything is info dumped for a brand new reader, Welcome! Just know that anything BDB rel

I met the warden at the RWA and she sent me a copy. I swear there was no begging. She’s genuinely a nice person. Here’s a spoiler free review.

Boone was an interesting guy. Without giving away story elements, he did some things which I hope get addressed at a later date.

I loved reading about the brothers, especially Butch. It was great to see how interactions with Boone. I see a mentor in the future.

Blood Truth was a treat, we get more of the trainees but we also get some old school BDB, a mystery that needs solving. I really enjoyed Boone and Helania. The dynamic and how they worked together but also how they figured out the killings.

The Band of Bastards or at least 2 of them really kind of come into play and I like getting to know their characters better. I am really looking forward to their books I hope we do get them because I bet they have something interesting to say.

So worth the wait. Boone is absolutely perfect.

Oh my googly goodness!!! It feels as if I have waited for Boone’s story for an eternity. Was it worth the wait? HELLS YES! Blood Truth is packed with mystery, BDB brothers, and so many hints toward upcoming books... I am honestly overwhelmed with the anticipation of what’s going to come next in the BDB world. A glorious 5 ⭐ read!

Blood Truth 418 pgs *** Boone & Helaine 3 stars for me because there were as many filler/fluff pages as there were story pages. The actual story was awesome, loved the character building, all the characters and especially having all the Brothers there. I skimmed so many pages that were filled with what characters were thinking, I was irritated most of the time while reading. I was disappointed in the book, only because I felt like there should have been way more story than filler pages. I wa ...more

This book was better than The Savior, I can say that. Still, there was too much infodumping, which I'm blaming on the new publisher. The timeline is still screwed up and is moving slower than molasses. At this rate, Boone and Helania's (view spoiler) I did like learning more about Syn, though, and I can't wait for The Sinner to come out.

This newest installment in the Black Dagger Legacy kept me guessing with its surprising plot twists, and of course had the incredible level of storytelling I have come to count on from J.R. Ward.

First, this book pretty much picked up where the last Black Dagger Brotherhood book, The Savior, left off so it would be easier to get into the story here if you’ve read that. If not, enough of the background is included that, with some patience, you can pick it
The Romance Book Disciple (Samantha)

I'm behind on my BDB books, but I was able to jump into Blood Truth just fine! What I love about this 'spin off' of sorts is that you get interactions with the Brothers and get introduced to new characters from all different walks of life. Boone is part of the glymera (aristocracy) and defies his family by not going through with his arranged mating and then joining the training program with the Brotherhood. While you don't have to have read every book in the series, it does help if you are fami

Another Black Dagger book? YES PLEASE!

I did my best not to spoil anything but let's be real -- This is book 4 in the Legacy series and like Book 21 in the overall Dagger-verse so at this point if you haven't read the previous books why are you reading this?

Anyway ...

BLOOD TRUTH is all about Boone.

Boone is a trainee for the Black Dagger Brotherhood and we’ve seen him around in previous books, but not like this.

I wasn’t really sure what to expect from BLOOD TRUTH by JR Ward because I couldn’t remember anything about Boone, the main character, other than he was in the trainee program in the Black Dagger Brotherhood and seemed somewhat quiet. I embraced going into this book blind with no expectations only that I was excited to read another JRW book, and I’m so glad I did because Boone was a bit of a surprise. He’s alpha but also beta, and totally swoon-worthy with a mixture of possessiveness but also suc ...more
This book was very different from the others in this series. Usually there is heavy with all the trainees and sure we saw them, but it was more about Boone on his own, going through some heavy crap. I really liked that through this when he was isolated Boone had Butch to help him. The two of them seemed to develop a good relationship and Boone seemed to get the police ways that Butch was showing him.

Helaine made my heartbreak. She was so alone, fighting for her sister that was no longer there. B

I mostly liked this book. It just had a few issues for me.

The plot was more murder mystery than the others. It could have been totally fine but I feel like the shorter, mystery driven story didn't do the characters justice. The main characters could have been a little bit more fleshed out. Boone's budding issue (was it just a device to quickly connect him with Syn?) was never really explored. His back story didn't give reason for it, the issue itself was never dealt with, and it was never reveal

Tame. Really tame.
Which is kinda sad.
When you read Ward book you want to be emotionally destroyed....right?
Well...I do.
This was fluff. Which is fine.. but not really expected with this series too much.
I say that...fluff.... there was grisly murders and shitty parenting stuffs and descriptive ish sex...but yeah, just fluff.

That being said I EXPECT Syn's book to be on par with old school tragic backstory, or I'm going to be disappointed.
They have kind built Syn to be this big nasty, emotionl

Solid four stars. Great writing from this author. Loved Boone and Helaine together. Butch was not annoying, and at his best. V had the best line at the end of the book..... Great who done it story. The end was just way coincidental and wrapped up in nice bow....... but I loved it.

Fourth in the Black Dagger Legacy paranormal romance series, spun off from the Black Dagger Brotherhood series (as 17.5) and revolving around the trainees in the Brotherhood program. The series is set in Caldwell, New York. The couple focus is on Boone and Helania.

My Take
It's a sad thing that society should be so concerned about what people think. About the bigotry that forces hurtful decisions. And it's lovely to see that these characters are moving forward, leaving these concerns behind them,

I was a little skeptical about this one, just because I didn't feel like we know much about Boone. But I, a silly mortal, should know not to doubt the Warden by now.
Because...the ending of The Savior? *Insert pterodactly noises here*
This one's going to be brutal. Hold on to your butts.

That being said, I'm prepared to rip this out of the hands of some poor B&N employee on the 13th.
