I fell under the spell…and nearly gave up on Alice

I started reading Heart of Stone and I thought that this story could be the turning point. I was already starting to compose (in my head) my email to Lisa Edmonds apologising for not being able to review her latest instalment. I was a bee's whisker away from DNF’ing…and it was all because I fell victim to magic.

See, dear old Alice Worth has been putting up barriers from the very beginning. At first, it was to protect herself from harm. Then, as t
Oh yes, Alice is awesome!

See, this is why I love UFs with strong characters. You actually get to see them grow to be that amazing person you're hoping to find.
And the plot is getting interesting, ohh, how the tables have turned!

First read: 07/2019 - 5 stars
Re-read: 09/2020 - still 5 stars!

I wasn't going to rate this book 5 stars.
While still unsurprisingly awesome all in all, I didn't find it quite as flawless as the other books in this series, mainly due to Alice, who's been nothing but level-headed so far, being just a tad too angsty for my liking.
BUT, Malcolm deserves an extra star all of his own, so... I guess this series' five-star streak goes on.

I just love how Edmonds always manages to pack her books chock-full

More story keeps opening up. Never a dull moment. Shit is always going down, but now Alice is learning to share the burden and rely and trust in her friends and Sean's pack—her pack.
Villains are trying to out villain each other.
Assholes are trying to out asshole each other.
But the story never dims.
Love this series hard!

Excellent, can't wait for more. kind of saw the betrayal at the end, but was surprised at something with the vamps. Awesome bonding with her, Sean, Charles. Finally secrets are out in the open. I'll kind of twist the mind games of a new villain though, but I have faith the author will keep it interesting. ...more

I've binged this whole series in a week and completely loved it. Urban Fantasy at its best of the quality I haven't read in years, since I thought I'd 3chausted all of the good ones.

This has it all: detailed world building, fast pace, action along with quiet moments of character development, excellent side characters and awesome main characters.

Alice has come along so far in her growth across the books. She has draustrated me at times, and is far from perfect, but she is complex and nuanced and

Another excellent Alice Worth

If you have been following my blog, you may know that I am totally in love with Alice Worth and Lisa Edmonds’ writing.

Heart of Stone was just as great as the previous books. This was beautifully written.I would recommend reading the books in order. You could probably read it as a standalone, but you would miss all the juicy details leading to this book.

The tension in Alice’s world comes to a head in Heart of Stone. The action is riveting and kept me turning the page

Wow, what a ride! I was on edge for so much of this book, and that ending was insane! I think I aged about ten years reading this one! Honestly, this series is so much fun! Full of action, humour, mystery, and amazing side characters, this is a series you don't want to miss. Alice grows and strengthens with each book and I love watching her and Sean grow closer. Highly recommend this book and series! ...more

Alice Worth is back with all her “general badass-ness” (to quote Malcolm). I was looking forward to the next installment of this series and all I can say is - WOW! Just wow! I love Alice’s growth in each installment. And this time, she takes a big step! This series has turned into one of my all time favorite urban fantasies. Can’t wait for what’s next!

Her fierce loyalty dominates her choices and leads to incredible actions scenes that will keep readers glued to the pages. "Heart of Stone" is fantasy at its best and a definite keeper!

Alice is hired to find a missing boy with special null powers. Unfortunately, the Bell cabal is collecting people with the same powers and it is possible that he has ended up in their clutches. The vampires are unwilling to help because they are trying to ally themselves with Bell due to the potential war with Alice's grandfather. Meanwhile, Sean and Alice's relationship is growing stronger; however, there are those in the pack that do not approve and are willing to go to extreme means to see th ...more
This is by far one of the best series I've read in while, with each book getting better.
I went into work late, just to finish it this morning. I couldn't stop, didn't want to.
You are seriously missing out if you haven't read this series, it's great. Each character is so well created, even the "side" characters come to life.
The author put so much into this book, and you can tell.

Alice was not Alice.....for a while, anyway. I almost gave up on her but then I realized why I like her in the first place and thank god her not being herself did not drag on too long to test my impatient. Heart of Stone let us see Alice Worth growing into a more secured confident PI mage. Now her uncle found her and I want to see the show down real soon.

Another terrific installment to the series. Its my favourite sort, where there's an overall story arc, but each episode is complete and wraps up this story neatly, not leaving great cliffhanger endings, but just hints of things to come.

Another outstanding installment - this series just keeps getting better and better!

I’ve been eagerly awaiting this book and it certainly did not disappoint. I love seeing the character growth with Alice, not to mention the growth of Sean and Alice’s relationship (which I especially loved in this book ❤️). Alice is learning to let others in, accept help, and most importantly, reconcile her past and present to become a whole person who deserves to live and love and be loved. Her strength to keep
This is one of my favorite series and I have been looking forward to this next installment. I would advise reading the series in order. The author does a good job with little reminders and recaps, but the overall story is an ongoing one.

Alice is still changing and growing and more accepting of all the people she has in her life. Her relationship with Sean is going great, but she still struggles with the secrets she is keeping from him. When she takes a case involving a 12 year old boy who has di

I probably could have done without the relationship drama aspect of this book, but the rest of it was pretty good. The relationship drama wasn't awful by any means but I feel like they were so slow to figure out something so obvious and it's kind of frustrating that now that Alice and Sean are good with each other then we have to dive into other people having a problem with Alice. Still, I continue to enjoy this series overall and think it has very interesting world building an

This book continues the story of Alice Worth as she begins to let people in to her protected world. We start to see the relationships in her life solidify. I really enjoy the relationship between Alice and Charles are they become tentative friends. Finding her place in Sean's world has its bumps in the road as do many relationships. What will happen with her biological family? Will she stand and fight or continue to hide in the shadows? This book is well paced with action, drama, romance and fri ...more

I don't know if the author found love, and so now she feels gushy but I hated this book. ALICE started out so dope but now she is boring and dependent and annoying. The only saving Grace for this book was she expanded Alice's magic. But 70 percent of this book is Alice swooning over Sean it makes me want to throw up. The author has truly ruined the series. This book was a romance novel with a fantasy twist. I want to read a awsome urban fantasy with a SLIGHT dash of romance. It's sad aut

Well, this series isn't as exciting as it was in the beginning.

I'm okay with Sean now I guess but I still like Charles more. Hell, I even like Trent more. And I was so happy he was in this book, however briefly.

Now, what really upset about this book was how Sean found out who she was. I was looking forward for Alice to tell him. To have the strength to tell him but...ugh it didn't happen.

It was like waiting so hard for something to happen but it doesn't fall through like you wanted. Kinda like

I don’t even know where to begin. This book left me with a book hangover. SO much happens! My girl Alice is faced with some more touch choices. She’s a fierce protector and while she’s not perfect, she tries to do the right thing any time she can. Even at the cost of her life. We learn more about her past and see some more growth from her. Love the action! I love a good fight with magic and Miss Edmonds delivers each time. We all know how danger tends to follow Alice and she’s always up for the ...more

3 1/2 stars. Another good installment of the series. I'm glad that some of the secrets finally come out; it was time. Keeping it any longer wouldn't make sense; she trusts Malcolm and Sean and after having contact with her grandfather's cabal in the last book there really isn't any reason. I loved to see the use of Malcolm's water magic and a touch of romance for our favorite ghost sidekick.

Sean and Alice are really a great couple. They have been through a lot together and there has been such g

Alice Worth series is definitely one my favorite paranormal book. I am so happy that I got an early copy of the book to read. This book had everything I wished for and more. A strong female, an alpha werewolf who doesn't give up on Alice, a kick-ass sidekick/adopted brother, and of course, a mission they need to accomplish. It was engaging and kept wanting to know what happens next.
Even though this book had everything I kept feeling that there was something missing. I have loved every
Alice gets a new job, and something is making her react funny to Sean. So, she must figure out what's going on and assist those who are in trouble. But this may bring more danger than she originally thought and her worst fears may finally be coming true.

This book was good. I enjoyed the heroine and the hero, although some of the stuff that happened was a bit annoying, and I hate how Alice seemed so scared it was frustrating considering she seems to be so powerful. Other than that, I enjoyed the
