I fell under the spell…and nearly gave up on Alice

I started reading Heart of Stone and I thought that this story could be the turning point. I was already starting to compose (in my head) my email to Lisa Edmonds apologising for not being able to review her latest instalment. I was a bee's whisker away from DNF’ing…and it was all because I fell victim to magic.

See, dear old Alice Worth has been putting up barriers from the very beginning. At first, it was to protect herself from harm. Then, as t

I wasn't going to rate this book 5 stars.
While still unsurprisingly awesome all in all, I didn't find it quite as flawless as the other books in this series, mainly due to Alice, who's been nothing but level-headed so far, being just a tad too angsty for my liking.
BUT, Malcolm deserves an extra star all of his own, so... I guess this series' five-star streak goes on.

I just love how Edmonds always manages to pack her books chock-full of action, adding lots of little side-plots and thereby creatin

Great addition to the series. I can not wait for Alice to balance the scales with her dear old grandpa!

Another excellent Alice Worth

If you have been following my blog, you may know that I am totally in love with Alice Worth and Lisa Edmonds’ writing.

Heart of Stone was just as great as the previous books. This was beautifully written.I would recommend reading the books in order. You could probably read it as a standalone, but you would miss all the juicy details leading to this book.

The tension in Alice’s world comes to a head in Heart of Stone. The action is riveting and kept me turning the page

Alice Worth is back with all her “general badass-ness” (to quote Malcolm). I was looking forward to the next installment of this series and all I can say is - WOW! Just wow! I love Alice’s growth in each installment. And this time, she takes a big step! This series has turned into one of my all time favorite urban fantasies. Can’t wait for what’s next!
This is by far one of the best series I've read in while, with each book getting better.
I went into work late, just to finish it this morning. I couldn't stop, didn't want to.
You are seriously missing out if you haven't read this series, it's great. Each character is so well created, even the "side" characters come to life.
The author put so much into this book, and you can tell.

“Where do we stand?” he asked me. “Is this our first meeting, our second time starting over, or will I get to sleep with you in our bed tonight?”

*Swoon* Alice and Sean are one of my favourite otps. Since the moment I found this series on Kindle Unlimited, I have been obsessed. I have been eagerly awaiting this fourth book and I must say it was well worth it...Get it, worth it ;). Another outstanding installment - this series just keeps getting better and better!

I’ve been eagerly awaiting this book and it certainly did not disappoint. I love seeing the character growth with Alice, not to mention the growth of Sean and Alice’s relationship (which I especially loved in this book ❤). Alice is learning to let others in, accept help, and most importantly, reconcile her past and present to become a whole person who deserves to live and love and be loved. Her strength to keep e
This is one of my favorite series and I have been looking forward to this next installment. I would advise reading the series in order. The author does a good job with little reminders and recaps, but the overall story is an ongoing one.

Alice is still changing and growing and more accepting of all the people she has in her life. Her relationship with Sean is going great, but she still struggles with the secrets she is keeping from him. When she takes a case involving a 12 year old boy who has di

I probably could have done without the relationship drama aspect of this book, but the rest of it was pretty good. The relationship drama wasn't awful by any means but I feel like they were so slow to figure out something so obvious and it's kind of frustrating that now that Alice and Sean are good with each other then we have to dive into other people having a problem with Alice. Still, I continue to enjoy this series overall and think it has very interesting world building an

This book continues the story of Alice Worth as she begins to let people in to her protected world. We start to see the relationships in her life solidify. I really enjoy the relationship between Alice and Charles are they become tentative friends. Finding her place in Sean's world has its bumps in the road as do many relationships. What will happen with her biological family? Will she stand and fight or continue to hide in the shadows? This book is well paced with action, drama, romance and fri ...more

Alice Worth series is definitely one my favorite paranormal book. I am so happy that I got an early copy of the book to read. This book had everything I wished for and more. A strong female, an alpha werewolf who doesn't give up on Alice, a kick-ass sidekick/adopted brother, and of course, a mission they need to accomplish. It was engaging and kept wanting to know what happens next.
Even though this book had everything I kept feeling that there was something missing. I have loved every
Alice gets a new job, and something is making her react funny to Sean. So, she must figure out what's going on and assist those who are in trouble. But this may bring more danger than she originally thought and her worst fears may finally be coming true.

This book was good. I enjoyed the heroine and the hero, although some of the stuff that happened was a bit annoying, and I hate how Alice seemed so scared it was frustrating considering she seems to be so powerful. Other than that, I enjoyed the
Another strong entry in the Alice Worth series. If you haven't read the first three - definitely go back and start from the beginning. I have no idea how I ended up stumbling across the first book but I'm really glad that I did and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys Urban Fantasy.

Another terrific installment to the series. Its my favourite sort, where there's an overall story arc, but each episode is complete and wraps up this story neatly, not leaving great cliffhanger endings, but just hints of things to come.

Looking for something new to read after finishing the new Mercy Thompson book? You’ll love Alice Worth, mage private investigator. Alice has earned her place in my short list of favorite urban fantasy ladies alongside Mercy, Kate Daniels, and Jane Yellowrock. Heart of Stone is the fourth full-length book in the series, and I highly recommend reading the books in order. While each book features a complete “case” that could be enjoyed on its own, there is also a larger story arc that spans across ...more

This is my first ARC review. I couldn’t wait the extra 2 months for the book, so here we are.
It has been a long time since I found a “must read” series. I like the usual: Ilona Andrews, P. Briggs, Faith Hunter, Nalini Signh . . . etc. . . but there hasn’t been a new “must read” series in a while.

The backstory is new and intriguing. The series is well written. It has in-depth characters that are complicated and likable.

In this last book, there is a lot of personal growth for Alice. She is openin

With Heart of Stone Alice’s storyline reaches a turning point.
She is sliding into a cabal war between her grandfather Moses Murphy and the local crimelord Darius Bell. As much as she doesn‘t want to attract the attention of her grandfather she can‘t help but get involved - especially as the story starts off with a missing child and Alice is willing to get involved to find the boy.
While she and her ghost sidekick Malcolm are busy searching for the boy, some issues with Sean‘s werewolf pack arise

When Natalie (from book one) calls Alice asking for help for a friend, Alice's attempts to hide become a thing of the past. The twelve-year-old son of an unregistered mage has gone missing. When it becomes clear that the cabals are involved, Alice needs to decide if keeping her secrets is worth more than the lives of the mages controlled by Bells Cabal. Add in some betrayal from multiple sides and Alice has more work than she can handle.

Oh my, I got the opportunity to read the advanced copy of the book and did little dance of joy! The book was just as good as I imagined!

I think that one of my favorite things about this series is that Lisa Edmonds creates such three dimensional characters. All of them feel real, even the minor characters. They have their quirks and annoying habits, just like real people do, but also the desire and willingness to try to fix these habits, which I like. Alice recognizes her need to protect everyon

Alice has been hiding from the beginning of the series and by the end of HEART OF STONE she is done hiding.

The Alice Worth series quickly became a must buy series for me and HEART OF STONE didn't disappoint. Book 4 is a bit of a roller coaster ride from beginning to end. There is quite a bit of things happening, but the flow and pace of the story was well done. There was also a ton of suspense involved and I probably ignored my kids away too much while reading HEART OF STONE.

OMG! This novel was an amazing read that I could not put down! So many plot twists and unexpected outcomes! Each novel in the series draws you more into the world of Alice Worth, a mage PI. If you have read the series from the beginning, you will see how Alice has grown so much. While she only trusts her werewolf lover, Sean, and her ghost, Malcolm, she has begun to slowly open up to them. Sean is completely in love with Alice, and it sh

Thank you Lisa for providing advance copy. You made my day.

I absolutely loved the book!!. This book is also same as the last 3 books. Fast paced, super plot, good story buildup, some new characters, overall it's mind-blowing. I don't want to give any spoilers. But be ready, Alice's story gets an interesting turn in the end.

What I love most about the series is Alice, her character development. She had come a long way from a lone PI who is hiding a past to become team player. Now she had friends,

This book is phenomenal!! I started reading this book when I got out of school for summer and I did not put it down once! I finished the book in an entire day. Throughout the entire book, I was sent on this amazing roller coaster ride of emotions. There was happiness, pain, heartbreak, and love...especially between Alice and Sean. I will not post any spoilers but the events that took place in Heart of Stone brought Alice and Sean even closer together.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a review.

Heart of Stone was an emotional roller coaster for me as I spent the first half furious, and the second incredibly tense. It left me confused as to what rating to give for quite some time. I ultimately decided with a better score because I believe that the fact that the story got such a strong reaction from me is testament to Edmond’s writing, and while I might not have liked everything Alice and company did, I understood why.
