I found this book while I was reading Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse, the one published by Quignog Collectibles. The edition is clean, really beautiful, and definitely something you’d want to collect. But the biggest surprise? What’s actually inside!
This edition has an extra piece of writing,
📖 "The Life of Buddha and Its Lessons" by H.S. Olcott.
And honestly, adding that in was a total stroke of genius!
Hesse’s Siddhartha is a fictional spiritual journey of a boy/samana/monk siddhartha, inspired by India’s spiritual side. But Olcott’s book? That really brings you back down to earth, exploring religious beliefs from an intellectual POV- good for practical debate emphasizing on the practical approach of people on various religious teachings and how they portray their God. The book provides a brief picture of Siddhartha and his teachings that are relevant and clean. The writing of the book seems poetic and intriguing, and the facts presented are thought provoking. I don't completely agree with everything olcott had to say, but at the same time I liked the intellectual debate.
