Reiki, Orion Plain and Simple

Rate this book
A pracitcal guide to opening and strengthening your reiki channels. Since originating in Japan in 1922, Reiki has been adapted to cultural traditions across the world. Reiki practitioners use a technique called palm healing or hands-on healing through which a "universal energy" is transferred through the palms of the practitioner to the patient in order to encourage emotional or physical healing.
Reiki is used for healing oneself and others and for spiritual development. It works by combining two initiations that awaken and open your energy channels and techniques for using your hands, eyes, and intention to direct this energy flow where needed. Anyone who wishes to do this work must prepare by following particular methods and steps, all wonderfully explained in this introductory guide.
Discover why Reiki is so unique and learn about its origins, five precepts, attunements, basic hand positions, and special treatments created by Reiki's founder, Mikao Usui. All the spiritual practices here have been specifically chosen to guide readers on a path of love, light, healing, and self-knowledge.

The book was straight to the point and I like how it respected the importance of going through a course or a reiki master to get attuned.
Wish there was a little more history and symbolic meanings but overall great introduction.

Wanted to added something highlighted in another review right away: there is no reference to “Chosen ones” in this book. At the beginning the author highlights that there are inner workings of Reiki that won’t be addressed due to their complexity and Reiki needed to be taught face-to-face, rather than entirely through a book. The author sets the book up as an introduction, which it accomplishes perfectly. Great introduction and inspire me to reach out and contact a Reiki practitioner

Has pictures and descriptions of how to do certain reiki moves to enhance one's own and others' health. But at the beginning of the book, the author says that reiki has some "secrets" or stuff that only "masters" or the "chosen ones" get to know, and that he won't be revealing them. And without knowing them, you can never be a "true" reiki practitioner it seems. So what's the point of it all then? I'm chortling, yes.

This book can be helpful to people who have no experience in spirituality and only want to stick to one form of healing. For people like me, that already experienced a spiritual awakening, for people with a high awareness, for witches, for people with an open third eye that want to know more about reiki healing, this book isn't very helpful. We haven't had our initiations, and we haven't been connected to any reiki guides. We are simply people who are in tune with their spiritual selves, and we are people who have the ability to heal and help others become aware of their inner selves. Many people who've never been spiritual and want to become reiki healers won't have the privilege to get an initiation, and I am glad the writer is aware of that, but I wish the writer mentioned that there are many ways to become a healer and the most important one is INTENT. You have to be open to healing, and you have to be open to being healed. I also have a different view of healing than Mikao and many reiki healers. I don't believe reiki fixes medical issues or mental problems. I believe healing can help remove negativity and help people get in tune with their inner mind and simply become aware.
Overall, I am glad I learned more about the origin of reiki and I am also aware that everyone can use and look at reiki differently. Because energetic healing was around for a long time and it's very different in different cultures and places. So to anyone who feels like they can't become a healer after reading this book, You can do this. It's much easier than you think. You don't need an initiaton and you don't need a teacher or a 21 day cleanse. You do need patience though because this will be a long and beautiful process.
