A love story that survives the test of time.

Keith McKallister is the king of the stoners. You know the type. Every school has one – the hot, fun, dopey guy beloved by the student body but despised by, well, just about everyone else. He spends his early mornings in the ocean and his days trying to get to class on time. Life is as easy as it gets until one poor choice too ma

I CANT GET OVER HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS BOOK! Yep I am shouting it from the rooftops. I love this author and have read all her books. The Cake Series are some of my all time favorites stories EVER. Truthfully I have always maintained my allegiance to the first book, ranking it number one. Not that I didn’t love the others but Jake’s story has always haunted me. This book is challenging that. What really resonated with me throughout this book is how well it is written and I am not just talking gramm ...more

Keith McKallister is one of the skater/stoner boys at his high school. Being a part of that group meant he had to smoke weed. In an effort to fit in, that’s exactly what he did and now it’s affecting his ability to graduate unless he sorts himself out. You see, Keith comes from an amazing family who love and support him. He knows he is causing them trouble and has promised his dad that he will change.

Samantha Anderson comes from a completely opposite situation. She lives with her mother and this

My most anticipated book of the year and was not disappointed!!!!
I don't think the blurb on this book is as interesting as the book truly is. Please, it's more than boy meets girl...

I've read the series twice so I have to think hard if this could be read standalone. Hmm, not sure. Can I get back to you? Just get the earlier books anyway and read along. (Thought about it and this could be standalone). Once you read bits and pieces of the other characters you'll want to read CAKE....what did happ

Rogue Wave, Keith’s and Sam’s story, is a second chance romance that will put you through all the feels - happiness and heartbreak, laughter and tears, love and hope. Their story spans over 10 years, which I enjoyed because we got to see how they met in high school and follow their journey through all the trials and tribulations to get their well deserved HEA.

I adored Keith and his fun personality. He is humorous and loves deeply. However, my heart broke as I watched him struggle with his inner

I think I have a new favorite Mckallister!

Rogue Wave, the 5th book in the Cake series, focuses of oldest brother Keith and his girlfriend Sam, both of whom we meet in book one and read a little about in the following books. Their story is a second chance romance that can read as a standalone, but if you haven't read the first 4 books in this series, you are missing out!

Keith and Sam's story begins in high school, shortly before the Mckallister family tragedy, so we not only get to see the traged

I was loving this book. Keith and Samantha's story is heartbreaking and full of missed opportunities. Keith especially tore my heart out and had me crying more than once. The character development was spot on and the secondary characters, some of whom we've met before, fill out the world wonderfully. I was all in....and then almost at the end of the book, Samantha makes such a stupid, awful decision that almost ruined the whole story for me! GAHHH! No spoilers, but I was just so angry at her. Good things come to those who wait....and wait I did for Keith's story. I have wanted Keith and Sam's story since Theory of Second Best (Kyle & Kenzie)...there was just something about these two, I needed more. NOTE - I highly suggest that you read these in order - that is the only way you will understand all that has happened with the McKallister clan. Keith and Sam's story starts back in high school...just prior to the McKallister family tragedy - but Sam has tragedy of her own. J. Bengtss ...more

Keith and Sam! ❤
I loved their backstory, which also shed more light on the McKallister family as a whole. Keith and Sam both went through a lot in their lives so their relationship had many twists and turns. I enjoyed how we got to see them grow over time, both together and apart. The epilogue was so epic that I can’t wait for Quinn’s story next!!

Rogue Wave tells the story of the romantic relationship between two opposite strangers from high school to adulthood. The story went deeper as it untangled the web of secrets and gritty events that tear them apart and bring them together. The plot is intriguing enough to keep the pages turning. However, the complexity of its multitude events were overwhelming and went far beyond what I was expecting. At its best, it is an interesting and unique read for me. I gave this a total 3.5 stars

Where to start with this review..... I have no idea because I have so many emotions running through me. There was so many issues that were dealt with in this story that it had my heart hurting for both Keith and Samantha. There is abuse, mental illness, addiction and family. This is a story of love and family staying together.

Keith is a stoner and a happy guy who rides the waves in the morning and then goes to school by day. He has a good life but things happen in his life that is hard for him t

Oh my goodness!! Keith's story is just fabulous! With every single addition to the Cake series, J Bengtsson brings us further heart break and mending, woven together with great character development and superb wit and verve. I have highlighted so many passages in this book, laughed out loud (yes, embarrassing myself in public again 😊), wanted to hug both Keith and Samantha and feared for them as they struggle to find their place in life, especially Keith.

Rogue Wave is a story I have been awaiting (almost) patiently. Keith McAllister is the lovable surfer dude who has a lot of growing to do; it takes him a few tries to get life right, but because J. Bengtsson has spent the first 4 installments of the Cake series giving us glimpses into Keith’s arc, and building up anticipation, readers will be eager to follow his path towards growth and, one could even say, redemption. His and Sam’s love is a bond for the ages and of course, watching them find th ...more

A roller coaster of emotions!!!!

First of all, if you haven't read the Cake series you're missing out. Go read them!
Rogue Wave have all the feels. I've been patiently waiting for Keith's and Sam's story and it did not disappoint. I thought Kyle was the quirky one, turns out Keith was long before him. Their story started from high school and journeyed over many years. This book have a serious vibe to it but it was also highly entertaining, filled with laughter, love, and a few obstacles that could

I was so caught up in this story. The writing was good, with a storyline that flowed well. Great humor, friendship, love, addiction, strength & hope were just some themes. I was somewhat reluctant, headed towards angst at the possibility of re-living Jake’s horrific ordeal (book one) in this book. In the subsequent books, it was a significant theme, but only involved a few chapters of this one.

I enjoyed it immensely!!

Keith's story is by far the one that I felt the most of all of the Cake Series, his is of riding the elusive wave and although he may tumble, he picks himself up again and comes out as a better person because of this stumble.

I loved Rogue Wave, a Second Chance romance that starts off as a YA love story and spans eleven years before we reach the beautiful and happy ending! This moving, emotional, and beautifully written story deals with so many issues, some that were extremely painful due to the subject matter, but thanks to Keith, the MC, and his unintentionally funny banter, it never became too heavy. This is the fifth book in the Cake Series and can be read as a Standalone, although I really suggest

Rogue Wave tells the story of Keith and Samantha, but in two parts. The first half taking place in High School before Keith’s brother Jake is kidnapped and has a very young adult feel, and the second half of the novel takes place after Jake’s kidnapping and is most definitely a second chance adult romance novel. The combined story takes the reader on such an emotional journey. We’ve read about the kidnapping from Jake’s view point (Cake), but now we see how it affected Keith and how his choices ...more

5 My Heart Almost Broke Stars!!!

I literally did a binge read of all the Cake books when I discovered Ms. Bengtsson’s writing last year and when I heard we were getting another story and that it would be Keith’s story, I thought I had an inkling of what kind of story we were getting based on what I’d read… this family is amazing!! Their humor is almost slapstick funny, but their love for each other is unparalleled. Well, I was wrong mostly… there’s SO MUCH about Keith and how he became the man

A Wave of Emotions

Rogue Wave is Book Five of the CAKE Series, but can be read as a standalone. That said, you really, really need to READ THE ENTIRE CAKE SERIES! Each book is a standalone, but OMG if you read CAKE, all the other books are a must to gain a full understanding of the characters and enjoy the humorous situations that carry from book to book! All the books in the series take the reader through a rollercoaster of emotions and surprises and Rogue Wave is no exception.

Rogue Wave was a wild ride of heavy emotions complete wipeouts. Keith MacAllister has struggled for years. During his younger years he could find escape on the waves. When that didn't work he used that day's drug of choice.

Only a woman can replace the rush of dragon. For Keith her name was Samantha. She became his high school sweetheart and his high. She became his ride and he taught her to ride the wave. So loved riding there wave of love, devotion, exploration. And then it happened the wave cr

J. Bengtsson is one of the main reasons I haven’t given up on Kindle Unlimited. I discovered this new author when I downloaded CAKE, her first novel, and I was completely blown away! I have been a voracious romance reader for over 25 years and CAKE is one of my top-ten-best-reads- EVER. I could not believe this was her first book. The plot was completely different than anything I had ever read. The dialogue was real. The characters were well developed. CAKE gave me such a book hangover! I couldn ...more

Finally! I finally have the answers to the mystery of Keith McAllister. Since Book 1 - Cake: A Love Story, I've been drawn to Keith. He seemed like such a wonderful and somewhat tortured soul. I have craved his backstory. The previous stories in this series briefly touched on his substance abuse, but it just felt like there was so much beneath the surface. And, the full story was everything I had hoped for and more!

A Perfect Second Chance Romance!

There are so many second chance romances out there that leave me questioning how a character can be forgiven for the decisions they made in the past, luckily Rogue Wave didn’t leave me unsatisfied with Keith and Sam getting a second (and third) chance. Life threw those two so many curve balls and obstacles that I couldn’t help but cheer them on through it all! J. I have been on this journey with the McKallister’s from the very beginning, so I was super happy when Keith’s book was released and we got more details on his take of the family’s events and his life moving forward. This is a standalone book, and you won’t feel left out by reading it by itself, but I do recommend you start from the beginning for a fuller experience.

Keith has the same sense of humor that his brothers do, and it’s debatable if it has gotten him into more trouble than done go

I’m a little mixed on this one. One thing that I loved was that Keith’s story didn’t just jump in where we met him in cake, but instead told us he and Sams entire story. I also loved having a little more insight into the future of this amazing family (I can’t wait to read about Quinn). But a pretty big negative for me was the reason behind Keith’s and Sams split. I know the author was probably trying to come up with a reason that wouldn’t make either of them look bad, but it backfired. We ar

Well Jill has done it again! This is unputdownable… There are so many things that I love about Keith and Sam’s story and to put them all down here would take too long and include spoilers – which I refuse to do you! But let me just say that there is this one scene that will make your heart leap out of your chest with utter joy… you will know it when you read it!

Samantha Anderson can’t believe her luck. Keith McKallister seems to have a laissez faire attitude. This is one book that may have you remembering your school days. I liked that the author didn’t give us those people that seem picture perfect. They both have issues and seem so polar opposite but this is what’s good about fiction.

What was sad about the beginning was how Samantha didn’t feel as if she deserved catching the eye of someone who could be considered good looking. But i

Rogue Wave by J. Bengtsson is book five in her Cakes Series. Every book is about another couple and can be read as a standalone. The previous books are Cake A Love Sory; The Theory of Second Best; Fiercely and Cake: The Newlyweds.

Rogue Wave is Keith and Samantha's book.
The story starts with Keith new in town, an outsider at school and his becoming an in-kid. And let me tell you he has a huge price to pay. He goes from easy going to difficult student and son in a short time. I will not spoiler he

Being somewhat of a sucker for teen romances, (there is just something so pure and exciting about 1st loves) I was unsurprisingly enthralled by the beginning of Keith and Sam’s romance. J. Bengsston did a great job at bringing these main characters and equally the supporting characters to life.

Although its probably a good idea to read the books in order before starting this story in the Cake series, you don’t necessarily have to. This could be a stand alone. However the impact of a few events m
