A romance author, a cover model, a book signing … a crush.
Ordinary women like me know we shouldn’t fall for beautiful men like Travis Zehler, one of the hottest cover models in romance fiction. But, sometimes, we can’t help ourselves.
When I meet him at a book signing, my attraction to him is instant. I’m infatuated, and I can’t stop thinking about him.
Even though I have doubts he’d ever be interested, I invite Travis to attend a book signing with me. And he says yes.
My fantasy comes true when he takes me to his bed, and the more time we spend together, the more I see that Travis isn’t some object to be desired.
He’s a man with a past. A man who’s been burned. A man who’s learned to keep his guard up.
I want to show him he can trust again, but when our confidence in each other is shaken, I begin to wonder if happily ever afters are only for my romance novels.
R.L. Kenderson is two best friends writing under one name. They met in college and bonded over their love of reading and the TV show Charmed. They write spicy romance that often makes you laugh.
The author and the cover model. Soo soo good. Give me more!
If you have been following my reviews you will know I’m going to my first book signing soon and Object of my Desire is a romance novel which starts with an author attending a book signing. This is both a romance and an insiders guide to an author lifestyle.
Travis is our cover model and Sydney is our author. Travis is so pretty she puts him on a shelf for unattainable eye candy. He’s easy on the eye but too good looking to take out of the box. Sydney thinks she felt a connection and decides to invite Travis to her next book signing as he’s her new cover. To her surprise he accepts. As the pair get to know each other Sydney realises he’s just a guy with feelings too. His ex did a number on him and he’s scared to put himself out there again.
He’s just a boy and she’s just a girl. They meet and find romance. Object of my Desire is a Perfect swoon-worthy piece of yummy goodness.
This book is sweet and funny. It has a hot romance and an interesting storyline. I haven’t read anything like this before and loved every minute.
*Beta reader with no obligation to review and I’ve ordered my own save me forever finished copy. I’m a huge fan of R.L. Kenderson and Object of my Desire is only 99p for pre-orders.
The whole premise of this story... romance author meets cover model and they fall in love.... cheesy right?? But totally not cheesy!!! I really enjoyed Travis' humble attitude and Sydney's personality. They were adorable together and there were so many cute scenes I laughed at and swooned over.
This book was sweet but also gave you a whole other perspective of the "reading world" to consider. I genuinely enjoyed this story!
This is a cute story and one that I could really relate to. Our heroine Sydney Hart is a romance writer who is starting to gain a name for herself. She was able to quit her job to focus on writing full time. As a way of promoting her books she frequently goes to book signings and it’s at a signing where she meets our hero, Travis Zehler. He is a cover model and is there with another romance writer to help promote her books. He’s gorgeous and she’s immediately attracted to him but she knows there is no way he could be drawn to her. She’s cute and happy with who she is but knows she’s not on the same level as the women he would probably date.
But she doesn’t know that he is drawn to her. It’s the very fact that she’s real and not all conscious of her appearance the attracts him to her. They have a great time and later she purchases one of his pictures to use as a cover for her next book. She then contacts him and knowing he’ll probably say no, asks if he wants to accompany her on her next book signing. Much to her shock he agrees to go. And well, things go from there.
This book is written in my world. I’ve been to a number of book signings. I’ve been to a number of conferences. I’ve had the absolute thrill of meeting many romance authors. So reading about the workings of author signings was interesting.
I like both Sydney and Travis. Sydney is comfortable in her own skin and I appreciated that. It’s a lot of work to accept our bodies as they are since we are continually being told by media and fashion we are not good enough. I think she still needed a wee bit of convincing that Travis did not see her faults and her imperfections even made her more appealing to him. But on the whole I liked her quite a bit.
And Travis is great too. He does send of kind of confusing messages to Sydney because a former girlfriend really did a number on him with her obsessive jealousy and mind games. He’s not sure he’s ready for a relationship but he simply can’t deny his growing attraction to Sydney. I love that he’s just a good guy and his good looks and job as a cover model hasn’t gone to his head at all. At heart he’s just a family kind of guy. The story has a bit of a fairy tale quality to it in that the handsome prince falls not for the outwardly beautiful woman but rather for the inner beautiful one.
I was thrown off a bit at first. The book is written in dual points of view; with Sydney it’s told in first person but from Travis it’s from the third person. I’d never read a book told in two different persons, but I liked it. This is a new to me author and I’m more than willing to read more by this author.
I did enjoy this book, but there was....something missing for me. I'm not sure what it was, I honestly can't put my finger on it. But you know how you read a book and you like it but there's just something about it that was missing so you didn't LOVE it?! That's how this book was for me.
I really liked Travis and Sydney. I loved getting to know them and I loved how their friendship developed. But I'll also say that I wish there had been more of that. Because there was a wham bam kiss then nothing. Then they got together and it was a case of "what does this mean?!"
I thought the story was well done. And having been to a few signings myself, and met a few models, I definitely knew where Sydney was coming from when she first met Travis. *confession time*...the first book model I met at a signing...well, let's just say I embarrassed myself in front of him. He laughed, I turned red and I got a signed book, photo and a hug out of it. I hope I never meet him again 😜🙈...*confession over*....so I totally understood how Sydney felt when she fell on the floor in front of Travis and a few of the other incidents that happened. Ok, not THAT scene in the hotel room at their first signing together...but you know what I mean.
As with every romance novel, you know there's going to come a time when something happens in the relationship to make it blow up. I saw it coming a mile away. And I was face palming so hard...sure enough, it happened, things went bad and I just wanted to smack both of them. And I'll be honest. By that point, I wasn't really feeling the love between them so if they hadn't gotten back together...I'd have been ok. So the way they did get back together...I didn't care for it. I just wasn't feeling it. But, that's just me.
Overall, the book was really good, and I'd definitely check out more books from this author in the future!
This book needs more than 5 stars. It was such a real story. Sydney is a romance author and Travis is a cover-model. Travis has had his trust broken in a past relationship and Sydney has is a strong women with every-woman insecurities (especially when involved with a super hot cover model). R.L. gives you a book with a great story line, awesome characters (I want Harper as my friend) and so many funny moments....(Wait till you meet Trip LOL … literally you will laugh out loud)!!! This book really made me want to attend an convention so I could meet R.L. in person (or any of my other favs). What causes the drama could really happen in any relationship too. I love how Travis called his sister for help and really loved the HEA they gave me! This is definitely on my re-read list and a great book for any person who loves a great story with some very steamy sex and some laughs too.
Sydney is used to seeing pics of hot guys, after all, she's a romance author and hot guys are just about all that are featured on romances now. But she never imagines that using the picture of one particular model will take her (and him) on the journey to love.
I love this storyline. The writer and the model? A classic trope but here it's done so so well. And the very best part about it is that both Sydney and Travis are real characters with real insecurities and feelings. No over the top stuff, just ordinary people who find love and must figure out a way to develop and maintain that love in the face of their own insecurities and baggage.
Before I get into this review I am going to state that I received an early copy of this book for this blog tour so I can give an honest review.
Okay, now that that is out of the way let me just say that this book was beyond amazing. I haven't been on such an immersive journey while reading a book in quite some time. The book pulled me in and I was feeling everything the characters felt and then some. I was laughing, crying, screaming, and throwing my book down in embarrassment during a certain hotel scene. This book was absolutely phenomenal.
An author and a cover model! First off how freaking unique and so totally swoon-worthy is that? When I read the synopsis for this book all I could think was "gimme gimme gimme!!" I couldn't contain my excitement for this story. Actually reading it and finding out it was better than my expectations? Pretty freaking boss!
So Sydney is a published author who's trying to promote her books at a book signing. There she meets Travis Zehler and his friend Angela. Travis is the cover model on the cover of his friends' book and so he came to help promote. Sydney feels an instant connection to Travis, but she tries to write it off. A few months later Sydney is finishing up her book and finds another photo of Travis that she wants to use for her own story. Contacting Travis to see if he'll come to another book signing event with her sets off a whole series of events that lead the two of them to become way more than casual acquaintances.
Travis loves what he does as both a model and as a fitness trainer. His last relationship left him scarred and nervous about starting another relationship. Despite his initial and immediate attraction to Syndey he tries to keep a friendly distance until a very accidental incident in a hotel room leaves him unable to deny his feelings any longer.
Okay, I'm going to stop my little recap of this story before I get into spoiler territory. I loved Sydney and Travis. I thought both of them were amazing characters. I always got excited when we would get scenes in Travis' perspective. Both characters felt so very real and their romance sexy scenes were off the charts. I enjoyed every bit of their relationship together.
Object of My Desire is a very unique and amazing story. Now, if you've been on my Goodreads page before you know I read about 300+ books on average a year for the last 3-5 years or so. For me to say a book s unique is very rare and such an amazing gift. I seriously loved this book from start to finish and it will definitely be a book I pick up time and time again.
So, if you've reached this far into my review you'll have guessed by now that I loved this book. The pacing was amazing; nothing too slow or too fast or some parts real slow and others real fast. Just nice consistent pacing. The characters were relatable, adorable, and ones I would love to read more about forever. The writing was fantastic. I have no other words for it. I was pulled in and trapped in this story from start to finish. This is an absolute MUST-READ story.
Oh My Goodness! I love this book! This is the first book that I have read by R.L. Kenderson! I was not sure if I was going to get into it or the characters but boy did I ever!
Sydney is a romance author who is happy with herself and her life. She meets Travis, a cover model, at a book signing. She ends up putting him on the cover of the next book she's working on and invites him to join her at the next signing that she is going to and he says yes.
The relationship develops in an easy and seamless way for Sydney and Travis. Can they work through their own insecurities they have with themselves and with each other to find their happily ever after?
So I absolutely love that this book is based in the Midwest/Minnesota! I think that R. L. Kenderson does an amazing job of bringing us two characters that are completely relatable! The insecurities that BOTH characters have are so prevalent in today's society! This story is so well written! BRAVA R.L. Kenderson!
The Kenderson duo has done it again, hook line and sinker I was addicted; I picked up this book and couldn’t put it down.
Sydney is a romance author who meets a gorgeous cover model at a book signing and become infatuated with him. When Sydney puts herself out there asking for Travis to be her next cover model and attend signing, she is surprised how easy it was for him to say yes. Travis has had some bad luck with his previous relationship tarnishing his trust and faith in woman. Just when they think they have it all sorted Travis’s insecurities come to the surface and it all falls apart; will this be the first story that Sydney doesn’t have the perfectly HEA.
The Kenderson duo have a new spot at the top of my list, I personally loved this story and I felt that their collaboration is flawless and you would never know that this is written by 2 authors.
I cannot wait to get my hands on more of their work in the future.
This is a fun story with fun characters from the main characters to the side characters. I loved that the characters were humble and just regular people with regular problems. It made the story easy to identify with the characters. Sydney was a romance writer with moderate success. She wrote all the time and sometimes forgot about everyday things. She and her bestie go to a signing and meet Travis. He is a cover model. When Sydney first saw pictures of Travis, she thought he was moderate to cute. When she meets him in person, she finds him drool worthy. She develops a crush. There are a few/lots of embarrassing moments for Sydney which makes the story fun. Travis has a past that still haunts him which gives a little drama. good story.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
R.L. Kenderson has written a beautiful and well developed story filled with thrilling moments and protagonists that feels real. It is a captivating and heartfelt romance, but the story is also heartwrenching and takes the readers on an emotional rollercoster. The relationship between Travis and Sydney is mesmerizing and the ending is perfect.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I wasn’t a fan of the writing style. I tried several times and couldn’t get passed the first three chapters. This totally bums me out because I was so looking forward to reading this one, the premise sounded so good.
*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review, that doesn’t reflect this review at all.*
AMAZING!❤ This is an amazing read with a perfect flow of twists that are filled heat and heart with a bit of an edgy feel. Well written and impossible to put down. An definite must read with all the feels and endless intrigue.
Loved this book! Sydney and Travis had amazing chemistry and it was just the right combination of sweet and steamy. It was also refreshing to have a heroine who doesn't have the body of a model. I've loved everything I've read by these ladies, and this book was no exception!
Object of My Desire By: R.L. Kenderson He's The "Object of My Desire," But Not A Perfect MAN; However, He's Will'n To Do The Best He Can! After meet'n at a Book signing, This S€X¥ Model becomes the Unknown "Object of My Desire!" I Even GO Sooo Far, As becoming a 'Virtual' Stalker in the Online Arena... However, I'm NOT Sooo Obsessed that I allow my Stalking to follow into Real Life! But... Am I Crossing the Line Professionally, When my Characters starts look'n like that Hottie & another Model in a Photo I've NOW built into some Scenes! Of Course that Photo becomes the COVER for my latest Book, Cuz it puts the "Object of My Desire" Right where I'm dying to see! Which is how I invite the "Object of My Desire" to a Book Signing, Now that I'm Featuring HIM, the "Object of My Desire," Maybe I'll get a Chance... But, the "Object of My Desire" has been burned before & still packs the luggage, And He's also not Exactly what I Expected Him Be... Which makes for lots of Starts, Stops, & MisUnderstandings... Until next time... Happy Reading!
**3.5** It’s relatable, light, and funny. There are some good discussions about society and how we treat beautiful people vs others, and overweight vs fit. I liked that they both had their own insecurities. He’s been burned and she feels inadequate.
Things I liked: Wall of Winnipeg moment at the book signing An honest chat about period sex The vibrator moment and the subsequent forehead bashing
What was missing from this love story was a deep intimacy between the characters. They fall into bed and have sex, but it lacked that raw vulnerability that really makes a story really shine.
As a voracious reader of romance books I was intrigued by the premise of this story and the behind-the-scenes look at the publishing world and the lives of those who make their living in this world. It was a charming read dealing with insecurities that many can relate to which made this journey of two friends becoming lovers more realistic. From the first page to the last I became more and more invested in them and was rooting for them every step of the way to find their HEA.
Sydney Hart is a romance author who’s finally able to write full time and is doing all she can to gain a following which means going to book signings and maintaining a social presence by interacting with readers. She’s an average gal with looks that she sees as far from perfect, but she’s comfortable in her own skin. She may have been unlucky in love in real life, but she can at least write about it. Attending the latest book signing changes her life irrevocably though as it introduces her to Travis, a sexy cover model, who pushes all her buttons and brings all her insecurities to the surface. It’s a crackling first meeting that sees them becoming friends before another book signing sees them becoming lovers over one erotically-charged weekend. Theirs is a slow and steady connection that’s scorching but also allows for heartfelt talks that bring up their painful pasts, their vulnerabilities, and it makes them all the more relatable. Sydney’s not someone who dresses to perfection, she’s more natural and is more like the good girl next door. Men in her past have made her question her body image, left her feeling unworthy and because of that she at first saw Travis as unattainable, merely sexy eye candy who would never be interested in her. She’s at first content just to form a friendship, but once they’re in close quarters their flirtiness turns sensual in a relationship with a few bumps along the way. At first Sydney internally questions every move he makes, analyzes every Instagram post and slowness in “friending” her, and it felt a bit immature and frustrating. Considering her past though I could understand her self-doubts and was happy that she actually talked things out with Travis when she had other moments like this instead of letting it fester into a Big Misunderstanding. The longer she’s with Travis the more empowered she became, the more flirty and the more bold, and it was an entertaining transformation. Though Sydney allowed one moment of self-doubt to put their HEA in jeopardy she more than atoned for it in a grand gesture that only a writer could enact and it had me cheering.
Travis Zehler’s more than just a pretty face. While he’s definitely got a drool-worthy body he’s also got a kind heart. He exudes sensuality and makes every fan feel special. From the outside his life seems pretty wonderful. Behind the sexy facade though is a man who has his own self-doubts courtesy of an ex-girlfriend who questioned every move he made because of her own insecurities and jealousy. It’s left him suspicious of women and their motives and it makes him all the more appreciative of Sydney as she’s wholeheartedly accepting of his work and expresses great pride in what he does. From the moment he met her there was a sizzle between them which made their fast friendship feel real and it had me waiting with bated breath for them to take the next step. His fears over how Sydney MIGHT react sometimes left me frustrated though as it was almost like he was looking for problems, but his delightful interactions with Sydney didn’t have me holding a grudge for long. When Travis makes a bold declaration late in the story I was giddy, on a high that quickly had me crashing, but from that low point Travis earned his hero status to put him and Sydney back on their path to HEA in a sweet reunion that charmed me. Travis is a delicious hero with a fun and flirty nature, a talent for dirty talk, and I thoroughly enjoyed his and Sydney’s road to HEA despite the few bumps along the way.
On a whole this was an entertaining read with likable and relatable characters. It touched on body image issues, preconceived notions, and even the age difference of a slightly older woman being with a slightly younger man in a charming tale of opposites attracting. The main couple struggled with self-doubts early on but as their connection built they fell into a comfortable balance of sweet interludes and erotically-charged encounters. Surrounding this appealing main couple was a colorful cast of secondary characters who gave great insight into the world of books, adding elements of believability to immerse readers even more fully into this story. The only character that fell a bit flat was that of Travis’s ex-girlfriend Christy. She was predictable and after causing a momentary problem she seemed to vanish abruptly while the power she had on Travis still lingered. Despite her presence I found this a fun and flirty romance with a couple full of heart and soul in a story that resonated with me completely and will be especially entertaining to other lovers of romance.
Object of My Desire is a stand-alone novel by R.L. Kenderson. It features Sydney a romance author and Travis, a cover model/personal trainer. In a way, it's like Meghan March and her husband. The red dress is missing though.
I read the book in two sittings. The first time I was done with 1/4 of it and I wasn't feeling it. Since I had the time to take a break from reading the book, I decided to put it aside and read it on a date closer to my assigned one. It was a better option than DNF-ing it. The second time I picked the book up, I was in a better place mentally and I was able to enjoy the book more. It helped that Sydney had a little bit more confidence as her relationship with Travis was growing into something more.
The main problem I had with this book is that Sydney didn't manage to leave some of her self doubt behind. She had the "Travis is a 10 and I am a 5" mentality for the whole book and Travis never gave her a reason to believe that. He was always wondering if she was going to leave him or something similar. I wanted a more confident heroine. Most of the story is told from her point of view and in the beginning, Travis seemed a little douchey, but later on, he grew on me, which is a victory. I would have liked to see some character growth instead of been told that it happened (for example, Travis trusting Sydney) and some romantic moments between these two.
I was happy to find out that Sydney and R.L. Kenderson have different opinions on how a story should end. This one has a happy ending and not the twisted version Sydney had in mind. The authors mention a couple of stuff that us readers don't know about what is on what publishing a book and the guidelines and I was hoping that they would elaborate on all that stuff, but they didn't. I think it would have been a good way to give us some insight into what's going on when you publish a book.
Overall, the book wasn't great, but it was good. I got the impression that some couples might have a book of their own, but as I mentioned above, this one is a stand-alone and the books I think they exist might not. When it comes to a recommendation I am on the neutral/ slightly positive side.
Object Of My Desire is the first book I've read by RL Kenderson, and it was a delight. I am a voracious romance reader, so I loved that this book is set behind-the-scenes at writers conventions.
Sydney is romance author who meets Travis at a convention. He's a model and personal trainer who happens to be working the convention that weekend as her friend's assistant. There is an immediate connection between Sydney and Travis, and even though they live in the same city, they part ways after sharing a searing kiss. When the next convention rolls around, Sydney asks Travis (who is now on the cover of her new release) to make a model appearance with her… and their relationship goes from just friends to something so much more.
Both characters have some personal baggage that they bring to the relationship: She feels rather insecure with her physical appearance in comparison to some of Travis' exes, and he was badly burned in a past relationship where his partner was petty, jealous, self-involved and ultimately spied on him. Even after they start dating, there are awkward and sweet moments where Sydney isn't quite sure what their relationship status is. And Travis, on the flip side, can't help but let his previous relationship color some of Sydney's actions, like when she accompanies him to a photo shoot.
When a misunderstanding ultimately leads to both of their insecurities coming between them, it's a raw and real moment fraught with tension and a painful argument for both of them. The best part about the fight? It happens immediately after they exchange "I Love Yous" for the first time. And the Grand Gesture that they each make to win the other back is straight out of a romance novel. (Heh, heh, heh.)
My only complaint was the awkward transition between the POVs of Travis and Sydney. Hers is done in first person, while his is done in third. I prefer books where I get the POV of both the hero and heroine, but alternating between first and third was a clunky transition in my opinion.
Overall, Object Of My Desire was a wonderful, light-hearted romance! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
I don't usually pick up a romance book when there's a partially dressed young man on the cover. Those aren't typically my type of romance novels. But I can never resist one where one of the characters is a writer. I'm glad I picked this one up, as it was an enjoyable read.
Sydney is it a romance writer in her mid-thirties. At a multiple-author book signing, she meets a male model who did a cover for another author’s books. They both have an attraction for each other, though she is a little bit older and believes that he wouldn't be interested in her. Meanwhile, he thinks that she is a pretty, down-to-earth woman who is very different than his scheming ex who hacked his phone. She uses him as a cover model for her next book and invites him to be a part of the book signing for that novel. While this goes on, they start having an affair.
Will this unlikely couple stay together? Will her doubts about them being together cause problems? How about his issues with trust?
The book has a pleasant amount of humor, especially between Sydney and her best friend, Harper. Occasionally, the author let Sydney rant a little about the way women can be objectified and what that can mean on a personal level; I liked that a more mature heroine talked about such issues. I won't give it away, but I enjoyed the writer-ly way that helped bring resolution.
The book had some of the common issues with grammar, punctuation, and spelling that are common in books these days, but it was not enough to distract from the book.
If you enjoy a steamy romance that's a little bit different, you might enjoy this book.
I received a free copy of this book, but this did not affect my review.
I so associated with this book, not as the main characters Sydney and Travis but as the emotional reader. I love books that make me laugh and/or cry. This book hit both!! I enjoyed reading how they met, how they were so good together but both had hangups that held them back. Sydney's, who is an author, was hit sometimes with insecurities about herself. Travis' , who is a personal trainer and book cover model, was caused by an ex-girlfriend who needed professional help. Read the book to understand my gibberish. :) Gosh, for me this was such a tear jerker at one point but I laughed when one of her fans told her that. I don't know if the book signing events happen that way, never been to one but they sound like fun. I hope if anyone reads this review that they will check out the book and enjoy it as much as I have. Thanks for such a fun book. Written by Cindy :)
I love reading books about authors, because well, I am such an avid reader and it gives us a glimpse to their world of writing. In Object of My Desire by R.L. Kenderson she gives us a look in not only an author’s life, but also signings and on top of that gives us a romance with a cover model. It’s a romance reader dream!
Sydney is a romance author and we meet her as she sets out to a signing with her PA. At the signing she meets another author and the cover model she brought with her. The four of them spend time together and Sydney finds Travis very attractive but believes a woman like her would never attract a man like him. Not that she was not confident in herself and who she was, she was only (in her mind) thinking realistically.
Travis was sexy and charming, but we also got to see him as a person. His ex-did a number on him and is not really ready to jump into another relationship. He is younger than Sydney, but like her, knows what he wants and value. I loved Travis so much. When Sydney is getting ready to release her next book, she uses Travis as her cover model and invites him to her next signing.
I loved watching them begin to get to know each other and become friends. Their relationship was fun, light and easy. But with insecurities plaguing them, can they realize what they have together before it’s too late? I had so much fun reading Object of My Desire by R.L. Kenderson.
Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog Happy reading!
This is the first book I read about an author and a cover model, and what can I say? I just loved it!
Sydney goes to a romantic book authors conference where she meets Travis, a cover model. She likes him instantly but doesn't have the chance to meet him again until few months later, when they will become friends.
As I always say about R.L. Kenderson, I just loved how they make the relation totally believable. It takes time for the couple to act on their feelings, they just don't start to say 'Iloveyouletsgetmarriedandhavekids' three days after meeting (which I totally hate because it never happens in real life) and I think that the part of Sydney checking his social media pages because she likes him and wants to know more about him is totally real.
So basically: YES! Buy this book! I'm sure you are gonna like it as much as I did :)
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
OMG! This book was so hilarious I don't even know where to start. Definitely don't read it in public or you'll get a lot of dirty looks for laughing like a crazy person. Sydney was still finding her way in the author world and would on occasion do book signing events and network. Sydney took her bestie Harper with her to work as her assistant at the event, and the hilarity ensued when they met Travis. Travis was a model helping his friend Angela at the same event and thought Sydney was cute. Sydney had a few embarrassing drool worthy moments over Travis in the beginning. I about died laughing when Travis walked in on Sydney with Tripp and what happened after. Christy really did a number on Travis and it colored all of his interactions with Sydney which led to the huge fight. Thankfully his sister Lynn was able to help him see that Sydney was nothing like Christy and that she deserved another chance. Harper was an amazing friend to Sydney when she really needed her, and when she wasn't causing her own mayhem. I thought it was sweet how the ending mirrored Sydney's in The One That Got Away with a better ending.
'I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily reviewed it.'
This story had me from the very beginning and never let go. I suspect that this idea has floated around most authors' minds from time to time (my own included) but this author pair managed to flesh it out in The. Best. Way.
Travis is a model who happens to end up on book covers. Sydney is an author who has seen his work, but isn't hit by the profoundness of his beauty until she meets him at a book signing he's attending with a friend. The rub is, he's actually a really likeable guy and she's a truly fantastic woman herself. Together they make quite a pair!
These characters are just so well-rounded and believable, and I loved every moment of following them around these pages. Real life situations and reactions, great chemistry, wonderful banter and just so much yes. All the yesses. Can't recommend enough!
My first read from this author duo and aaaahhh! My heart is swooning so hard!! Such a sexy, funny and heartwarming romance. A romance author falling in love with a cover model? *squeals*. Travis and Sydney were so perfect! Both of them with a bunch of insecurities and fears but helping one another to build their trust in each other… *sighs dreamily* Everything about them and the entire setting of the book captivated me from start to finish and even though I think it’s a low-angst story, I felt the ending so hard in my heart. Did I mention this book was sexy? Holy hell… these two were delicious! Couldn’t stop smiling and blushing, couldn’t put the book down and the happi ending my my heart flutter… I’m here for more!!!!!
Love at first signing! Poor Sydney! How many awkward moments and embarrassing faux pas can she endure in front of Travis, the hot book cover model she met at a book signing event (that she might have a teensy bit of a crush on)?! So many that, even as an author, she couldn't write them all! It's so painfully funny! But really it's realizing that nobody is perfect no matter what they present themselves to be. Knowing your self worth, having self confidence, learning about giving and receiving trust is what the underlying tone is - all wrapped up in a hilarious, sweet, and very sexy package! I could not put it down! This is a must read! I loved it!!
One thing I love about R.K. Kenderson is that their books have so much variety. They do their PNR; they have their contemporary romances; they have their taboo; and now they have this one -- all of which are awesome.
Several times now, they have gone for plot lines that I typically am not a fan of and made me like the books anyways.
I would heartily recommend this book. Even if the plot is not what you typically go for, it's worth checking out.
